Am I still pretending that we are in a parallel universe where what happened at the end of 362 and the aftermath now isn't real? Absolutely, but that's for my own personal mental health. We all find ways to cope. If anyone is down to do a group therapy session or petition against what happened? Sign me up too! I'll bring snacks.

3.0 Stars (so far)

Chapters 363-377 (it feels like the volume would end here, so I'm posting as read)

*prepare yourself for spoilers galore*

Unto what happened (this is entirely incoherent because I was just throwing up my emotions):

-SOMEONE HOLD ME BACK BECAUSE EVEN WITHOUT A QUIRK I'M COMING FOR SHIGGY!
-Everyone please stop blaming yourselves!
-This is not the best time to be a good guy *tear down cheek* everyone is just not doing well.
-"We got five weinies on our side!" "Bakugo and company as well!" "They're gonna win for sure!" I AM UNWELL FOLKS!
-Cassie deserved more! *pouts*
-WAIT EDGESHOT WHAT?!!?!?!?! WHAT?!!!!!!
-Of all the things that I thought could bring Bakugo back... this was not one *wipes tear* *pours one out for Edgeshot*
-MIRKOOOOOOOOO! "I ain't about to check out from the game of life with regrets left on the table!!" *slow clap* WHAT A BADASS!
-STAPHHHHHHHH not with the 'Full Moon Risin' Tonight'! Such a serious moment and then... I need to walk away lol.
-(end of chapter 366) *cues music*
Guess who's back?
Back again
Deku's back
Tell a friend
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back?

-HIS FACE! Midoriya's face when he sees Bakugo will haunt us all!
-DEKU MODE IS ON!
-What would we do without Mirio?
-"You're gonna be the one to complete one for all." This is a given but woah!
-Spinner is starting to look like a TMNT
-Society is so f*cked up! The heteromorphs have had it rough to say the least.
-The mob now rises... damn.
-Shoji and Koji deserve to have some main character moments too!
-TENTACOLE! ANIMA! This arc might be my favorite of this volume at the moment.
-The Three Dumbigos!
-OMG SHIRAKUMO!
-Dabi is serving that extra extra crispy look
-Listen Todoroki clan ~ yOu AlL hAvE dAdDy IsSuEs
-Monoma.. I just- *shaking my head* lol
-DABI! Here I thought only Shiggy was fully deranged looking, but now through Spinner and Dabi in the game too!
-In case it wasn't already wild, chapter 374 is really bringing it there!
-I know it's a war zone and not the time, but *tucks hair behind ear* Hiya Keigo! Looking fine as always!
-Sad but I knew after Twice that things would go this way for Toga
-My fave Tokoyami is back!
-Just as the League is coming back together, so are the heroes! However, the villains' seem to have the upper hand here.
-(sorry not sorry) I'm over seeing Endeavor honestly
-NOOOOO! MONOMA YOU BLINKED! SHIT! NO NO NO NO NO!
-Whelp! We are screwed :')
-lololol How is La Brava here! I'm dead!

With the always over-the-top reactions aside, this manga even with all the action is starting to lack something. We are thrown into many emotional moments, but there isn't enough of a focus on specific moments to make it hurt. We are instead given a tornado of sad without anything feeling truly tragic to the fullest sense or monumental. Hope that'll change more in the next upcoming volume.

*Will deduct notes for next volume if certain chapters fall into volume 38*

Master-class battle of the biggest bads and heroes right here.

And as for a non-spoiler reference and non-reference to the events that capped the previous volume... I'm not saying anything, but damn I'm still anxious as all hell and this manga has officially freaked me out.

Good job, Horikoshi. Good job. You're killing me.

I enjoyed this volume more than the last one. While it still features lengthy fight scenes, there is a bit more story here. It addresses the issue of the discrimination of those with perks that greatly affect their appearance. Some fight with the villains to destroy the system in which they have experienced discrimination, and others fight alongside the heroes with the hope that the current system will improve despite the difficulties that they have experienced. While this issue could have been developed further (perhaps in future volumes?), it is good to see it being recognized. The villains in the story are very vocal in expressing the idea that heroes fight to preserve society as it is, while villains fight to change society. This is an issue that is often addressed subtly in superhero stories, but it is interesting to see the villains force this idea in this story.

idk, i just think la portada es neat

mmm, creo que el pacing podría mejorar en algunas partes, pero en otras es muy bueno.
el nivel de impacto visual cuando deku ve Lo Ocurrido es muuuuy bueno, me sorprende lo bien dibujante que es hori ahorita
además amo que le encante dibujar manos, ia could never.

Edgeshot y Jeanist fue... interesante. Edgeshot me gusta, btw.

y creo que está presentando varios temas de manera muy interesante, no más me preocupa que no pueda terminar de abarcar todo lo que quiere.

If you enjoyed last volume you will like this volume as it is just more of the same. It is still hard to tell most of characters apart. The bad guy is still dropping "good guys" and they are still talk talking talk the same words point of view that has been spewed the last many volumes. Deku arrives (FINALLY) and we get those action shots but the heroes "still can't win (tm)" for some reason. Battle switches to some other fight which is just a blurry crowd or mob going to destroy a hospital while someone goads on the crowd to get revenge on the people who abused them for not looking human.

The art is sloppy, the story is staggering around losing focus. It is all a mess that seems to be getting "Fixed" by flashbacks and pauses in the action or text blocks between chapters.

This cover has always scared/concerned me and now that I’ve read both 36 and 37, I had every reason to be worried! It ties into Deku’s horror over what he finds with the Cage Match Team, it was HORRIBLE and HEARTBREAKING seeing that, my poor baby! 😭😭 Thankfully Togata was there for him or that could have ended really, really terribly. Beyond what’s already happened, anyways, since everything immediately went wrong for everyone again, but they’re all fighting on to the best and even BEYOND best of their abilities to beat the villains back; I’m so proud of them yet terrified because no punches are being pulled here!

And in the middle of all this chaos we get backstory for both Shoji and Kota without slowing the tension or story down (which is HARD to do, so prompts to the mangaka for pulling that off so successfully!) and I loved it! Both of these guys I’ve grown to love as the series has progressed, and seeing Shoji’s backstory specifically really broke my heart yet warmed me when Class-A were there for him 100% leading to Kota’s awesome move here—I love all these kids so much!!!

The tension never lets up, so I’m diving into the next volume!

‼️Content‼️

Language: dammit; what the; crap; freakin’; screw; geez; hell; screwed

Violence: injuries and blood (PG-PG-13/R); fighting with weapons, superpowers, and hand to hand (PG-PG-13/R); a man stands on a pile of bodies; hands are cut off (PG-13); a flashback of adults beating up a kid; a little girl is caught in a river

Sexual: a girl’s shirt opens in the front all the way down to her stomach; shirtless guys; a title page of a naked girl (nothing is shown, all private parts are covered by caution tape)

Other: superheroes/supervillains/superpowers; a girl’s power has her “transform” into people by drinking their blood; monster like beings with “brains” outside their skulls; a guy’s body is completely covered in hands and his arms/hands have human heads on them; a mob

Ahhhh, I see what you did there. It couldn't have been true anyway. A solid arc to stretch out the epic battle once more and a diversion to focus on other heroes and their own plight.

A lot of great things happens as Deku finally arrives to fight Shigaraki with the help of Stars and Stripe's Squadron. But the bulk of this volume is about Spinner leading a riot of those that do not look human because of their quirks. I do like we get to learn a lot about this part of the world as it was mostly hinted at before where we learn that those that do not look human are often abused and treated as it they really do not look human. And we learn this mostly takes place in rural areas as those like Tokoyami and Koda never experienced this but Shoji has and we get to see his face for the first time. This conflict does a good job mirroring real world civil rights moments violent protests vs non violent. I do like this fight a lot and does a good job of making Spinner and the rioters both sympathetic but still villainous.

okay so i know i said that i wouldn't add manga to my reading challenge because i read too much of it but i am making an exception for this because it's PEAK. and leading into the last few volumes i have a lot of emotions so i feel like documenting them kthanksbye <3

- already losing my mind over monoma having to watch over katsuki's dead body in horror and anguish and not being able to look away because their entire fight would end right then and there if he closed his eyes...grounds for insane emotional damage
- he's just a kid!!!
- dabi using phosphor....he looks so genuinely cooked it's frying me
- afo nakey on the page once restored like pls somebody one shot him why is he being allowed to SPEAK let alone go around and steal people's clothes i'm so done with his monologuing ass
- - america acting chopped <3 so on brand
- "children observe adults as they grow...adults in turn support the children as they pass it forward and so on to the next generation. heroes have always wielded their power in the name of that cause" cassie girl i miss you so much you deserved so much more <3 cut to edgeshot and jeanist over katsuki's body because they feel that they have failed him as his mentors ;-; im so sick
- "mirko do not go quietly!" ugh
- "this stopped heart belongs to a life we can ill afford to lose!" "i will becom this boy's heart" i need to lie down in oncoming traffic im so serious
- this part in the anime was so graphic fr i was sickened because they kinda show edgeshot inside katsuki's chest trying to restart his heart and the way the blood was spurting out of his chest was genuinely traumatising
- mirko getting her other arm torn off too, a makeshift tourniquet and going on all fours ARMLESS after shigaraki is so intense like the amount of body horror that she alone faces
- shigaraki's inner child not understanding why even though he killed katsuki and incapacitated almost every hero on the field that they are still fighting, that even though they're at a loss they're still trying to revive katsuki and wondering why even before anything had happened to him as a child no one looked to him or cared about him enough to fight for him HURTS ME
- "i wasn't broken back then but it's not like anybody reached a helping hand out to me...it's not like anybody would even look at me" shimura tenko how different things could have been you deserved more
- "drop the electromagnetic barrier!" omgomgomgomgomg he's hereeee
- mirio showing ass to distract shigaraki and him actually getting distracted in sending me into orbit
- izuku using black whip on the poles to catapult himself is so chef's kiss
- both izuku and shigaraki having their mouths covered and eyes so clear i just love narrative foils
- SMASH
- izuku seeing the wreckage and amongst it...katsuki's body...his expression...simply gut wrenching
- the panel of the black whip seeping through izuku's eyes and mouth as he loses it over seeing katsuki dead you will never not be famous
- monoma and aizawa holding hands and both crying is killing me inside slowly all they can do is stand and watch
- "what matters is controlling your heart" and the black whip in the shape of a heart im just so
- panel with izuku and the ofa vestiges asking if shigaraki is still in there i love you so much <3
- pretending i did not see the colour spread
- "the two have achieved a perfect melding" me when i lie
- GEARSHIFT!!!! KUDO LOVERS WE WON
- kudo and katsuki looking alike...smiling in death...the kudo/katsuki do i look like him edits on tiktok are on repeat in my brain rn
- shigafo getting triggered seeing the vestige of his brother and his bf <3
- "our meta abilities were never what you should have been wary of. rather you should fear the reason why someone chooses to use their gifts. true power resides within an individual's intent." <3
- oh my god what has he done to spinner
- honestly the social politics of the mutant/non-mutant type quirks is so interesting and i think that horikoshi did a stellar job of portraying the ignorance of those unaffect vs affected and how marginalised they feel within society. but this also reiterates the earlier point of the "intent" behind the uprising--manipulating the pain of those affected and mobilising them as agressors in the middle of a war against civillians which in reality is going to set back their movement by decades
- first time seeing shoji with his scars and he is so so right the mobilised are blindly following someone who only wishes to see wreckage and violence, not a favourable outcome. they're only being used as pawns to serve an ulterior move and make up an overwhelming force-- "bloody spilled today will lead to rights for future heteromorphs"
- shiggy a league player
- shoji speaking about his past and how in the countryside people are far more prejudiced--going through a blood cleansing, bearing scars no child should bear. shoji knowing that because of his scars and his past, people would assume he was out for revenge :(((
- "that takes strength. rather than dwell on the bad memories, i'd rather cling to the single good one related to this body of mine." shoji :((
- "yeah. this is who i am." may or may not have cried typing this ilysm shoji
- koji and shoji <3
- the doctors and nurses making a human blockade ;-;
- the kurogiri/shirakumo cover is grounds for emotional damage
- "y'know shirakumo, our pal's already lost an eye and a leg. don't go ripping those good memories away from him too. and if you ain't shirakumo anymroe, then do us a favour--fade away and leave us the memories." noo don't do this to me
- everytime they show a glimpse of shirakumo in kurogiri i wanna swallow a gallon of sea water
- "can the flap of a butterfly's wings in brazil really bring about a hurricane in texas? is it the fate of our superpowered society-which began with a single glolwing baby-to descend into utter chaos? i stand firmly opposed to the government's decsision-not the world's decusuon to pander to all for one!" WHAT'S 7+1? THIS QUEEN ATE
- ugh kurogiri trying to bring all the LOV back together huhuh
- "i'll nake sure the ministry of education points out that we won here because of me," yes MONOMA YES
- RAHHH SAD MAN'S PARADEEE

that was everything. it's so so so good to be getting to read these chapters properly because i've only really half read them in scans when the leaks came out oopsie you will hear from me again that's for sure

After the last volume, I was honestly expecting a lot more from this one. I mean, sure, we have , but aside from a certain someone arriving at the battle against Shiga-AFO, there wasn't really a lot happening in this volume. Just a lot of cliffhangers and confusion 8'D

I did however love the "side plot" with Koda and Shouji. Was really nice to see them in more of a central role, and the hope they (particularly Shouji) were able to give to those marginalised people with mutant quirks was pretty incredible c:

how am i EVER gonna get over this cover? how am i supposed to move on from this, i didn't sign up for this pain when i decided on chapter one that this gremlin boy was my favorite character (in everything, not just mha) i'm so serious i can't move past this 😭😭😭

edit: i just realized this volume doesnt have chapter 362 and the aftermath of *that* was a bit of a slog to me but i won't change my rating because just the cover and deku's reaction deserves five stars
