This is the second book I've read by Jane Peart, and I have enjoyed both novels. This novel takes place during the turn-of-the-century in England. Challys promises her dying mother she will take care of her little brother, Ty. But with her evil, ruthless stepfather, she knows the only thing she can do is flee. While trying to get to her great aunt and uncle's estate, she has very many perilous and frightening things happen to her. And when she finally gets there, she finds their circumstances have really changed, and they need her as much as she needs them.

This is a good Christian romance/suspense novel. I love clean stories with no swearing and no sex.

Great story showing how few rights Women had in the 1900. Everything went to the husband at marriage. The young lady in the story learns hard work at the stage coach repaying the room she needed to take care of her sick brother.

Another one of those books that you just sort of accept as can’t really happen in real life. Enjoy the read and move on. 🙂
