During my job and travel I deal with a lot of stress and anxiety. This workbook is a great resource to identifying and working through those issues. Designed as a 12 week plan, but really is self driven at your own pace, we start with identifying and defining the major states of neurodivergence. Some of these are medical, some are psychological, and some are trauma induced.
The workbook’s exercises are low pressure and easy to understand. While the book is a quick read, the exercises do take time if you are really prepared to work on yourself. They often come with an easy to remember acronym that helps continue the exercise even when I don’t have the book with me, or my phone to look them up. These are definitely practical exercises I will put into my daily stress management routine.
I need to preface this review with the disclaimer that I am not a therapist or someone suffering from some form of neurodivergence (that I know of), so what I bring to reading this book will, of course, be affected by this. However, this workbook seems to me to be very helpful, and the techniques are well explained and very actionable. I will say that some of the technical terms and explanations went a bit fast for me. I had to back up and re-read sometimes, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. I certainly learned a lot about dialectical behaviour therapy from this book. It seems to me to be a very good resource for therapists or anyone struggling with some form of neurodivergence.
Definitely gives you lots of helpful tips, and applicable advice. And written by someone who is definitely an expert in the field for many reasons. I especially recommend this to you if you have a child who fits the bill.
“The Neurodivergent” is a very interesting and helpful book on being a Neurodivergent. It has helpful exercises on helping with our emotional well-being. Activities that would help in keeping or managing one’s mental health.
At first, I didn’t really know what a neurodivergent was and this book has explained it a lot. I love the activities and exercises that helped me a lot in managing my stress and my emotions. “When involved in a quarrel, take a step back and assess whether you and others are of Wise Mind.” I kept on going back to these wise words because I always find myself in this situation. The tips and the exercises are really helpful and I can see the change and effectiveness of it in my life. If I could give it more stars, I would. I am so glad to have encountered this book!
Fantastic book that explains what DBT and neurodiversity are, and offers structured exercises for the course of 6 months to go through. I enjoyed the language, the author does not over-complicate things and is very clear and straightforward. It would have benefited from making it easier on the eye, in my view. There's a book of the same name by one Sonny Jane Wise, and while it was qualitatively okay, the one thing I prefer over this book is that they color-coded the pages, had headlines in a bigger and bold font and just made the read - and work - a more pleasant and less straining/dull experience.
Informative and interesting This is a gem for people who are suffering from anxiety or stress and want to manage it or at least lessen it and for those who want to promote well-being. "The Neurodivergent friendly workbook on DBT techniques” is an interesting book written by Yevhenni Lozovyi. Every chapter deals with valuable information connected to stress, autism and anxiety among other disorders that people put up with these days. Also, it includes exercises of mindfulness, tips to manage people's emotions in fear and how to avoid them. All in all, it's a complete guide that teaches a lot. In fact, I put into practice some of the mindfulness exercises before some exams. It´s well-described, well-written and it's easy to follow the ideas to apply them in the future. I thoroughly recommend it
The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook by Yevhenii Lozovyi is a book for those who have struggled with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is an informative workbook that explains thoroughly what exactly Dialectical Behavior Therapy is. This workbook is geared to a variety of neurodivergent to help with managing the struggles of life. Each chapter defines the behavior and then follows up with helpful advice and activities to help managing it. I found it to be rather clear when explaining, which is not a simple thing to achieve. I'm struggling to help one of my closest friends in her journey to understand her failed therapies and this author helped me a lot. The book is inclusive and guides the way into understanding what is the right kind of therapy a neurodivergent mind needs, which by the way helps a lot to lower anxiety levels. I recommend this book 100%.
This is a book that’s meant to help Neurodivergent people with the assistance of DBT techniques, better known as Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Being neurodivergent means there are some differences in basic cognitive functions that aren’t considered normal or typical. This book helps you deal with that, whether it be severe depression or anxiety, and even stress. It starts off with detailed information about Neurodiversity itself, it introduces you to DBT and how important of a role it plays, along with exercises to manage your well-being on a daily basis. It’s got tons of main talking points about your emotions and fears and how to beat them, and even includes exercises that enhance mindfulness. Overall, a very important and good read.
The Neurodivergent by author Yevhenii Lozovyi is the third volume of the Mental Health Workbooks and has the final aim of promoting well-being to those suffering anxiety, stress, autism or ADHD. It offers not only theoretical information about neurodiversity but also helpful exercises, activities and practical techniques, using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I really like to learn about this therapy since it emphasizes the importance of a collaborative relationship, the development of valuable skills and the benefits of mindfulness. To sum up, this is an informative and enlightening reading, which would assist any reader to discover his own path to feel better, and to feel their lives with joy and success.
The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT Techniques Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy To Manage Anxiety Stress Autism ADHD and Promote Well-Being, written by author Yevhenii Lozovyi, is the third book in the Mental Health Workbooks series. The book is short - less than two hundred pages - and shares very interesting information. I really didn’t know quite well what being a neurodivergent was and this book enlightened me completely on this subject. I was surprised to know that 20% of the population is in fact neurodivergent. The book provides useful information explained in a very clear way and it is really practical because it contains good exercises to do. This workbook is a must read for every neurodivergent out there!
A good workbook with interesting and simple to understad information
The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT Techniques Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy To Manage Anxiety Stress Autism ADHD and Promote Well-Being is a book that taught me a lot about neurodivergence and provides many interesting exercises to do. Being the third book in the Mental Health Workbooks series written by Yevhenii Lozovyi, after reading this one I am eager to read the others in the series because I think they may be as good as this one. This book is simple to read and especially made for those who are neurodivergent with guided exercises to improve their lives, but I think this can be enjoyed by anyone interested in the topic such as me. Recommended.
Yevhenii Lozovyi writes a book about techniques to use by neurodivergent people. The Neurodivergent is actually a workbook packed with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, absolutely great to manage anxiety, stress, and other conditions. It is amazing that it allows making notes and comments, in order to truly assess which techniques work for each person and under what conditions. The book is well-organized and it is easily accessible to anyone, neurodivergent or not, with a background in psychology or not. I just wish there was better editing, even though I didn’t feel it was impeditive to enjoy reading it. Overall, a great addition to any library for people who want to understand the world of neurodivergent and what they go through.
This book failed to accomplish either of its objectives - there are many clearer and more helpful explanations of DBT, and the information about neurodivergence and mental health amounted to lists of symptoms and statistics. The skills were not applied to the unique strengths neurodivergent people can bring to bear to address the challenges we face.
It would be more helpful to ask, how does each person's neurodivergence affect their pursuit of a life worth living? How can these skills be adapted for sensory hyper and hyposensitivities, etc.
__________ Edit: Many of the other reviews for this author's books are very suspicious. The reviewers all seem to be reading the same books across genres and rating each of them 4 or 5 stars.
I know what it is like to be stuck in a cycle of anxiety. I used to feel as though fear and worry were a permanent part of who I was, and that is why I purchased this book. I needed to find something that would help me heal, and I found it. After reading these pages, I understood that it doesn't have to be this way. The book enlightens us and proposes plenty of exercises and activities for us to do as a sort of alternative therapy. It is a compelling and unique blend of information, research on the topic and work of action. The author proves to be very knowledgeable about what he is talking about and this is shown chapter after chapter.

This book was very strangely written and did not effectively communicate new information. The book was written to different audiences and used different language for NDs in different chapters. It did not contain any neurodivergent specific adaptations of DBT and was instead a poor quality explanation of standard DBT that was difficult to read.
