Thanks to an unexpected inheritance, witch Annie Winslow has returned to Haven’s Hollow for the first time in seven years. Once a beloved vacation locale, the town became nothing but a bad memory after Annie suffered her first heartbreak. Now stuck with a dilapidated manor and a foreclosure deadline, Annie must figure out how to rescue her family home from a greedy property developer, who just happens to be the man who broke her heart all those years ago.

Bound to Mabon Manor for centuries, gargoyle Lucien Lafitte wants nothing more than to return home to France, and he needs Annie out of his way as he attempts to break the spell that ties him to the property. But when he discovers the developer's plans to demolish the manor—thereby killing Lucien in the process—he begrudgingly teams up with Annie to save the home they reluctantly share. Tension between the two soon flares into heat, but can they set aside their differences long enough to find the answers they need? Or will the clock run out before they can save everything that matters to them?

Greetings! I’m Vivienne, I have my MFA in Creative Writing, and I write all things magical and mysterious.

I’ve been writing fantastic tales since I could hold a pencil. Captivated by fairy tales from a young age, I gradually began to create my own worlds filled with fantastic creatures and monstrous beasts. Now a USA Today bestselling author, I'm still sending my characters on as many wild journeys and dark adventures as I can.

In addition to spinning a good story, my loves include chocolate, reading good books, and taking as many bubble baths as I can. When I’m not writing, you can find me roaming around the southern U.S. with my husband and two very fluffy cats. I’m the redhead in pajamas.

Originally read as part of the Monsters in Love Anthology.

Haven’s Hollow was home to Annie Winslow’s Great Aunt Celeste and their familial home of Mabon Manor. Though Annie hasn’t been back since her teenage sweetheart broke her heart. But Aunt Celeste passed away and left her the manor, so she’s back. Unfortunately, Aunt Celeste didn’t tell her a lot of things about the manor, the least of which is the terrifying and very much alive gargoyle named Lucien who is now her roommate.

This is four stars rather than five simply for the fact that Lucien pretty much despises Annie until the very last bit of it. It was no. No. No. And then BAM. No lead up to it and just when I thought there was no romance, there was. Overall it was fantastic, I just wish there was more than “Oh well he’s kinda hot” that led into them pairing up.

I really liked the setting of Haven's Hollow. I liked the main character and her cats. 😸 What self-respecting witch doesn't love cats? The world-building was definitely on par.

But, and it's a big one.. The slow burn was pretty much a no burn. Legit. There was almost 0 attraction between Lucien and Annie. At 60% I was almost sure absolutely nothing was going to happen between the two of them. No anticipation built. They finally just.. come together: BAM!

I won't lie. Once they do it's a very sweet romance, but nothing led do it. I knocked a star off of my rating for that. BUT, I do want to read more from this author. I liked the flow of the story very much.

1.5 stars-Darkheart Vivian Hart, well I finished it, so there is that 🤷‍♀️. This started off good, I was excited to finally like something in this anthology but the issue came up when Annie and Luc actually met. Annie sucks, she’s pretty stupid tbh and hella unempathetic to the fact that her family had a trapped gargoyle slave basically. The quality of the writing went downhill but I would try this author again since it’s hard to do short stories for a lot of authors.

Claiming Her Future

Sweet! I’ve always been fascinated by gargoyles and just love monster romances. Luc is a gargoyle unjustly cursed to remain tied to Anya’s inherited home. With a foreclosure on the horizon he must work closely with her to find a way to stop it. There was so much more to the story but I don’t want to give it away. There are mysteries to solve, a foreclosure to stop and of course a sizzling romance to enjoy. I loved it!

It's Gargoyle Time! This was another great installment in The Monsters in Love Vol. 1 anthology. Quick, sweet story of a young witch who was left a large dilapidated mansion by her late great aunt. Thanks to beloved auntie Annie Must return to a town she'd been avoiding... only to be greeted by her intolerable ex and a very grumpy house gargoyle.

My favorite story so far. I really liked the characters and how they interacted with each other and I think the small, magical town would be a fun setting for other books. I definitely want to continue the series.

Another wild cover from a short story in this anthology. This was definitely more "cute" than I usually read, but I enjoyed it enough to finish it. Probably not enough to pick up more from the author though.
