Savage Beloved

Rate this book
Terrified and alone, Candy huddled beneath the trapdoor in the floor of her father's cabin, listening to the bloodcurdling whoops of attacking Indians. When she finally crept outside, it was to find all the other inhabitants of Fort Hope massacred and a fierce-looking Wichita chief thundering toward her on his black stallion. Surely Two Eagles had captured her out of revenge, in retaliation for the atrocities her commander father had committed against the Wichita. But as he gently introduced her to his people's ways, as he slowly awoke her virgin desires, she began to hope there was something more in his heart. For she no longer thought of this proud, handsome man as her captor, but as her...SAVAGE BELOVED.

This book is written terribly but it's worth 5 stars for the entertainment value alone.

"He was praying privately in his private place of prayer." Best line in all of literature.

I DNF yet another book, I'm just not getting any luck. This book was too fast - paste no relationship development and that's under all relationships. Mother - daughter candy and housekeeper . She brought her up but we never seen any loving relationships or example of it. Same with other relationships in this book. There wasn't enough cruelty that is involved in a captor and captive relationship. Love oh you guessed it again no explanation or development there either. I understand love at first sight but even then there has to some development involved in the relationship so that it last. You can't go from seeing the individual first sight and then saying " I love you" in next breath. Well that's just unexplainable I kept reading it again and again thinking I must of been reading it wrong but nope. One minute he see her tries to control his feelings since she's his captive then next minute all misunderstandings are gone in a flash and he declares his devoted love.

Just for this book I created a whole new category - Couldn't Finish Books. The writing style was truly terrible, I really tried to get past it but I couldn't it just got worse and worse until it defeated me.

These "savage" books are pretty much all exactly alike, with the exception of the eye-color of the heroine and the small description of the tribe she joins, always as the wife of the chief. The sex always happens on page 150, per 20th C romance novel convention. And the prose is short and plain, at a fourth grade reading level, if that. Recently, Edwards has been accused of plagiarizing from her historical research texts. While the evidence is pretty damning, the sources she uses are OOP and one must still consider the good of what her books do-- continue some small bit of storytelling of cultures that no longer exist as they once did. I'm willing to forgive her plagiarism much more freely than her poor execution.

Cassie, you've done it again. This book is horrible. Not only is it offensive but it only scored 74 points on Romance Novel Game.

I really wanted to give a better rating, because it was an interesting story and was laid out well enough so there was no confusion, but I just didn’t have it in my heart. I love these Indian romance novels they are truly intriguing. This particular story seemed to be to fast, it should have been slowed down and more detail could have been brought into it, just seemed as if a huge part of the story is missing. Most of the characters just did not have enough emotion and depth to them. Praise for candy and two eagles romance it was beautiful, it was strange also. For two eagles came to revenge on candy’s father- (who was a very bad man, white people are very evil) but another Indian tribe already done the damage. Two eagles finds one survivor low and behold candy. Takes her captive and boom they are in love. Seemed to be the same twists and turns, candy runs off but expects to return, she runs into trouble she can’t get herself out of and Two eagles always comes to her rescue, he’s her knight in shining armor. Very disappointed with Candy’s mother!! She should not even be able to be claimed as a mother, who abandons their child to run off and be a dancer ?? And when they reunite there wasn’t much emotion from her mother, who still decides to run off from her daughter after candy and two eagles gave her freedom back. I do give credit for the ending that was very beautiful, they did get their happily after and candy very well adapted to two eagles and his tribe. There is just too much missing from all the characters, I’m still wondering what even just happened? Who are these people I just read about? Why did I just read this ??.

Candy witnesses her father, who was a General who ordered his men to do very mean things to the indians, get killed by an indians arrow. Then their fort was torched and everything was lost. Candy was the only survivor. Her father had enemies with many tribes. she is terrified when the Wichita chief discovers her hiding. She thinks that he will kill her like everyone else at the fort, but what she doesnt know is that it wasnt his tribe that killed her father and torched the fort, it was the Sioux tribe.

Candy is taken to the indian village where there is another white woman who lives among them who has been trying for many moons to win the affections of the chief, but he doesnt want anything to do with her. She has a cold heart and is very jealous of Candy and tries many ways to try and put a wedge between Candy and the chief.

The story is filled with excitement, suspence and adventure. another great story from Cassie Edwards.

I’m reading so far and it’s moving too fast. The characters start liking each other faster than the book. But I gradually picked up pace got to really like the characters

This review isn't so much for the book, as it is for ALL of Ms Edwards books.

When I first read one of her books, I was utterly disgusted. She went from incoherent writing to suddenly text book style.

Why?

Because she was copying FROM A TEXT BOOK.
None of her books are written with any creativity, and she infact thrives on boring her readers to death. Its Oh no, I'm white, you're red, I love you, everyone accepts us hooray, tiny conflict like a hole in the fence around the farm, and then a SICKENING dull ending.

Why did I continue to read "her works"? Because I had more hope for the publishing companies! I cannot believe that they would let such a poor excuse for an author slip into the public view?

Don't they reject anymore? This would definatly be one author to reject!

I refuse to give her ANY stars, if here were a way to take the stars that have been given to her away, I so would because I'm ashamed to say that I have read so many of her books in hope of finding the reason she has been published.

I think this story had the potential to be a good book which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1. It was very fast pace. So much so that at times I checked to make sure I hadn't somehow skipped a few chapters. The characters actually go from I hate you and we could never be together to I love you in the same scene! Totally ridiculous and very far fetched! If the relationships and characters were developed more I think the story could have been good. I did enjoy the historical past of the books. I actually think that you learn more historical facts about this tribe then you do about the fictional characters the book is supposed to be about. Good for a quick read but don't expect allot.

Mostly skimmed. It was actually kind of dumb. It didn't have a good flow and the character development was basically non-existent - a lot of characters were one note and flat. The writing felt too simplistic and staggered on occasion. Also, I felt like certain storylines didn't receive the closure they should have. Wasn't a very satisfying read, but not horrible. So 1.5-2 stars.
