Brutalized by a false mate.

The day my human self died in a watery grave, my inner wolf took over to protect me. For two hundred years, I lived, hunted, and survived as a lone wolf. Then a voice spoke to me through the wildness in my head, calling me to him. A voice I can’t deny. The voice of my true mate.

He wants to claim me in the way of our traditions, but I fear him. I was claimed once before by a false mate, and it led to centuries of pain and suffering. I can’t trust this new mate or the modern world he wants me to live in. So I’ll hide behind the protection of my wolf, biding my time until I can escape.

Exiled from my homeland.

I felt the moment my mate died, like my soul was torn from my body. So when I find her on my doorstep two hundred years later, looking up at me from the crystal blue gaze of her snowy wolf, I’m both shocked and elated. I want to claim my mate, but first I must coax her into turning human again, then heal the trauma that makes her fear me.

When I’ve made her mine, I will hunt down the shifter who dared to claim my mate and I will make him pay for every second of her suffering. Then I will return to my people and claim my position as their alpha.

Damaged Mate is the first book in the Immortal Wolf Shifter series. Each novel in the series follows one of five alpha wolf shifter bothers. Each book is completely standalone and can be read in any order.

Boring. Started off decent and I kept waiting for something intriguing to happen, but everything was just stagnant. Not really a fan of the tropes. The hero was also bland. I don't like how he treated the heroine like a dog AT ALL. Dog kibble? Really? You feed your mate dog kibble??? He also felt weak to me, and I didn't like his reaction to finding out his brother is responsible for her trauma. Idk, not really a hero I care for.

Safety: safe
-No ow drama
-Om drama- heros brothers tries forcing the heroine to mate with him but nothing happens.
-Virgin heroine/former mango hero. He stopped sleeping with other women when heroine was born, even after she "died", so celibate for about 200 years.
No cheating/sharing

This is a paranormal shifter fated mates romance and it's a good one. Set after a shifter and human war has decimated both populations there is now an understanding between the two species and as long as the rules laid down are adhered to a tentative peace is maintained. Many years prior a witch cast a curse against her mate the forbidden magic rebounded and affected all five brothers. Fallon who was the diplomatic one of the siblings and the chosen king evolved into madness becoming the Lunatic King. Lock who led the military and couldn’t condone what his brother was evolving into left the capital of Wolf-Haven and became a lone wolf but when he then feels his fated mate bonds sever he resigns himself to a life alone.

He’s surprised then when 200 years later he encounters a female wolf one who is obviously his fated mate. But Serena is locked in her animal form not even recognising that she’s a shifter anymore it’s been that long since she was human. With a traumatic past and a whole lot of damage Lock goes about coaxing out the humanity in Serena he’s playing the long game but knows there’s a chance she may stay locked as a wolf forever.

I adored the bond these two cultivated together Lock is Patience personified and allows Serena or Spot as he affectionally names her to learn to trust in him and his care. There’s a lot of time spent in her animal form and Serena had a wildness about her and she was all instinct and bluntness when she eventually managed to shift into her human form which I did appreciate.

When the past catches up on them both in the form of Lock’s brother the lunatic king and his obsession with Serena the two are again put in peril. Their journey will now take them full circle back to Wolf-Haven where it all began, reuniting the brothers once more. A final showdown is looming and the king will now face his final reckoning.

Well written and easily engaging this was such an entertaining read. I actually adored how much of this they spent in their wolf forms and I’m definitely excited to learn more about this band of brothers in the future. Rush’s story looks incredibly intriguing and I’m expecting great things, a fabulous beginning to the series for sure.

I just can't find an ounce of care for 5 brothers who think it's acceptable to force themselves on a mate because fate gave them permission. I leave a lot of leeway in PNR but when the H puts a fucking leather collar on the h in her wolf form, he admits that 1. She doesn't recognize him as her mate. 2. She does NOT want to be trapped with him. She fights as best she can but he overpowers her and locks her down cause he has the right as her mate... to what? Traumatize her some more? Wtf did their parents teach them growing up??? It's okay to force yourself on a woman if you she's "yours"? It's okay to kidnap a woman and chain her up because the universe is on your side?

That's what we call non-consensual. Don't care what happens or how they come together because this is emotionally abusive and no sexy EVER.

Considering this was her first attempt at this genre the author did really well. I actually preferred this over so many others that other author’s wrote. The couple were actually very sweet together.

This is the first book in the Immortal Wolf Shifters series and features Sarina and Lock. An angry witch casts a spell that turns into a curse and changes the course of five brothers lives. They are left to live without their mates but fate has a funny way of shifting paths. Lock's mate shows up on his land - he feels his soul shift and is elated to find that she didn't die all those years ago. However, there is something not right about his mate. She is mostly feral with very little human remaining behind her wolf eyes.

Sarina was horribly wronged by the Lunatic King many years ago when he tried to take her as his mate instead of his fated mate. Refusing to be his mate, she tumbles over a cliff and "dies." Her inner wolf saves her but takes center stage for 200 years while her human self slowly fades away.

Fated mates are always meant to find each other and Lock is determined to bring forth the woman behind the wolf. When Sarina does come forward, there is a lot to learn about each other and about being a human. In the midst of cementing their bond, other forces are coming to their door. Will Sarina and Lock be able to form their bond and defeat their enemies?

This was...ok. There were a few things that didn't work for me...

1. Sarina was referred to as Spot by Lock when he wasn't sure of what her name was and treated her like a pet because she acted like one. Even when she shifted to human, she wanted to keep the name Spot and well...it was weird.
2. Sarina stayed a wolf for too long and I found myself thinking of her as less of a human and more a pet so I never really connected to her as a character and heroine. She was really awkward and clunky through most of the story.
3. This was a slow burn and the steam wasn't all that great.

Lock was a really good hero but I was hoping for a more dominance from him. The world is unique and there is a lot of potential for the other brothers. I liked the secondary characters a lot. I definitely will be continuing this series.

So I wanted to like this book. The premise was interesting, but the writing was. . .iffy, to say the least. The book could definitely use an editor. That is not the reason for the DNF.

So, we start this book with the end of a war between shifters and humans. The brothers in the book are placed in various positions of power within the shifter ranks. The brother who is made king, eventually finds and kidnaps his mate. The mate in question is an extremely powerful witch who ends up cursing her mate, but because she went against the natural order (this is direct wording from the book), the curse rebounded and sent her to somewhere she could no longer do that, assuming she is still alive.

Lock, the ML, vanishes himself after his brother, (now called the Lunatic King) starts making plays to remove parts of his power. Eventually the lunatic King starts taking females to search for his mate. He ends up taking the FL, and when she confides in a servant that she wants to go home LK slaughters her entire village. She then ends up falling from a cliff after LK tries to forcibly marry her. This brings us to current day.

Lock finds her and feels his soul shift. She, being more freal wolf than anything at this point tries to run. Of course he doesn't let her. That's actually the wording by the way. He won't allow her to run, can't allow it. After everything he witnessed as a reaction to how his brother treated his mate; after he saw what ended up happening after the LK kidnapped his mate. LOCK CHAINS HIS MATE WITH A COLLAR AND CHAIN TO HIS CABIN IN THE WOODS.
I'm sorry, but no. Just no.
I can deal with bad writing and grammar. I cannot deal with toxic MLs who don't learn from the past.

I'm bowing out of this one way too early to give it a rating - like the 8% mark.

The writing is amateur-ish and at times really clunky. The plot feels like nonsense - they kicked the humans' asses after the humans started a war trying to wipe them out 700 years ago. And despite defeating the humans after decades of war, they agreed to concede they'd never mate with humans ... despite the fact that they have fated mates and are human as often as not? WTF. That's not a concession the people who WON THE WAR should be making. The response to that demand should be "okay, I guess we just keep killing you guys then, until you get your heads out of your asses". But no, the wolf elders, in all their brilliance (read: idiocy), agree to this concession and literally fuck over like half their people.

The characters all seem like stupid assholes. They earn a witch curse because their asshole oldest brother decides to attempt to rape a powerful witch and force a mate bond. The other brothers don't particularly see anything wrong with this - the lead male, Lock, is clear in his POV that she's his mate and that's that, she just needs to accept it.

Nope. Just nope.

When an angry witches curse backfires, setting five shifter brothers on a path of despair and loss of their mates - they’re all doomed to live different lives of solitude …

two hundred years later, Locks mate comes bounding through his land in wolf form. Something is off about her but he’s not about to let her out of his sight.

Serena was falsely taken by the Lunatic King who went mad after the loss of his own witch mate. So we tried to take Serena. Only if she rather die than be claimed by someone who’s not her real mate.

She survived a brutal fall over a waterfall, but for 200 years she stayed as a wolf never switching to her human form. And ended up quite feral.

When she lands on Lock’s doorstep as a feral wolf. He knows something is off about her. And seeks help.
This story evolves to trying to get his mate to shift in a human form. And over a period of months, learns how to be human again.

I really did enjoy the different way this author wrote a paranormal shifter romance. It was very unique. At times I struggled with the slowness and the awkwardness of Serena. But I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the brothers come together to deal with their crazed brother - and claim back the land and people.

I will absolutely be continuing the series. I think that the next brother story is going to be absolutely fantastic! 3.5⭐️

So let me preface this by - I am a fan of Nikita Slater. So feels odd to give this rating.. I enjoyed the book enough, but at the same time it didn't make me be like 'wow'.
It wasn't bad by any means - the writing was good, character development was there..yet it lacked something for me, even if I can't quite put my finger on what. Fell kinda flat to me. Which is disappointing.

Nevertheless, I will pick up next one in the series.

I remember when Nikita first announced she was working on a wolf shifter series...to say I was excited would be an understatement.

I've been a fan of hers for a few years now and so I had no doubt I'd probably love whatever she wrote. And being a huge fan of paranormal and shifter books as well didn't hurt. 😏

Nikita's version of wolf shifters and her unique shifter world grabbed me from the first chapter. Because funnily enough I was still trying to decide what to read, and I opened this book and was reading all the opening content and the book descriptions for all the upcoming books to be published in this series...then next thing I know I'm reading the first chapter, then the second, and then the third.. by then I was like well, damn. I think the book chose me. 😄

I truly don't believe I had any intention of choosing it right then because usually, and especially with my fave authors, I will make myself wait for the rest of the series to be released, or at least two more books. Only because I'm impatient and love to binge read series and get lost in them instead of waiting months upon months for a new release 🥴

So, I'll start by saying I really liked this book. It took me by surprise a couple of times. Which was a good thing! I liked that NS wolves had the usual traits but were also different. Again, NS brought a unique touch to her own shifter world and I loved it. I am wholeheartedly intrigued now.

I think the most surprising for me was the "damaged" mate aspect of the story. Going into this I had a different scenario in mind after knowing the book description and the sneak peaks before it was released. And man I was wrong. 🤣 But I'm glad I was. What I thought would be what damaged Sarina wasn't what happened. Yes, what happened to her was almost as fucked up as what I assumed would happen but thankfully I was wrong in my assumption. I think it worked better this way tbh.

Especially so because besides that tidbit the most surprising for me was the heroine Sarina/Spot. ❤️

Sarina was such a unique character. I never knew what was gonna come out of her mouth. She had these unexpected moments throughout the whole book that brought a certain lightness and comedic relief to an otherwise serious theme.

She was unexpected in the best way. I loved that she was a snowy wolf and due to what was done to her she as an individual was essentially as pure and innocent as freshly driven snow. She had to relearn how to be a human along with learning how the world became modern. It was a lot to handle for the little she-wolf. Though her hatred for cars was a highlight of the story. 😄

But she had her fated mate Lock by her side the entire time. And it was incredible watching him care for her and work so hard to earn her trust. An otherwise brutal alpha war general resisting his natural instincts for her well being. *swoon* Lock was an amazing alpha 🔥😍

Together Lock and Sarina were wonderful together. Well matched. I think Lock got as much amusement out of watching Sarina learn and adjust that we the readers did.

I especially loved that Sarina gave Lock something he hadn't had in over 700 years. Happiness. She brought this light into his life with her innocence and curiosity. Her playfulness and wild untamable spirit. He needed that. She made him actually live and laugh again.

I will admit the beginning threw me a little at first watching Lock care for Sarina in her wolf form. I understood it, of course, and I wouldn't change a thing tbh. I think it was definitely unique, something I've never seen in a shifter story and I think it was exactly what what Sarina and her wolf needed to feel safe and cared for. To know Lock was a safe haven for them. Especially her wolf after all she had done to protect Sarina.

Was it weird having her called Spot? Sure, but I got used to it. It wasn't totally random and it obviously had significance behind it and I understood why she preferred that nickname at times. It was just surprising at first because again it wasn't something I expected. But in the best way.

The rest of the story was fascinating. I don't think it dragged at all. I really enjoyed it and finished it in one sitting. Sorry sleep! 🙈 I also loved the differences between the brothers and can't wait for their books.

I loved the ending and that it provided some closure but also one last dose of the humor and love we had between Lock and Sarina throughout the whole book.

I especially can't wait for the last book about Fallon. Oh man, the second I read those first chapters and how the curse happened I was like: 🤔😤🤬😮😲😳🤯😥🥺

Especially seeing what became of Fallon later and all the damage he caused. I kept wondering how in the world will we make it to his story and redeem him?? I love a good villain redemption story and Nikita never lets me down with her anti-heros and villains-turned-hero types. I am so pumped to read his story and to see how/if he can come to terms with all that he did and from what was done to him. Specifically regarding his mate Lyra too because she isn't totally innocent in that regard either though all in all it was a tragic situation that caused everything. I feel giddy just imagining their story. Ah, I'm gonna be so impatient now.

LOVED IT!

This was simple yet wholesome; nothing new, yet beautifully written with endearing and heart-warming characters. I didn't expect much when I picked up this book, believing it to be your average shifter romance, but it surprised me - in a good way. My favourite series from the author was THE SANCTUARY and if I thought that was intense, Immortal Wolf Shifters was a watered down version - intensity wise - but it made for a good weekday, after work treat.

LOCK was a wonderful alpha hero....I mean does Nikita Slater ever write a bad one? He was the oldest of his brotherly pack, and also a General who became embroiled in the Shifter-Human war that finally ended when our story began. Honestly, I just looooveed his character - period. He was patient, loving and protective towards his family and mate, honorable, dutiful and loyal to a fault....need I say more? (Naturally, the opposite applies for enemies) Perhaps in some people's eyes, Lock was too perfect, but who cares? This is fiction. Anyways, Lock had the patience of a saint when he encountered his supposedly dead mate and struggled to help her recover her sanity and humanity. Their interactions were cute, engaging and eventually hot + sweet. I can't go into too much details, but know that every moment was WORTH IT.

SARINA/SPOT was a broken, damaged female. Usually in 'damaged shifter romances', the heroines are often discarded by their fated mate yaddy yadda...but here, Sarina was hurt very badly by Lock's brother who was King of Wolf Haven. Ok, long story short, after the Shifter-Human war, Fallon was appointed as King by the majority in alliance with the peace treaty. What I didn't understand was how Lock and Fallon were twins, and yet their characters were as different as day and night. Fallon was quite rude and ungentlemanly, also forceful, which caused his own mate to reject him and curse the five brothers. Needless to say, the spell backfired, supposedly killing Fallon's mate and he became deranged. Fallon mistook Sarina for his mate, and wanted to force mate her...which almost ended in their deaths. Because Sarina was literally quite broken, throughout the story she reminded me of a child-dog (not puppy) in her interactions. Lock treated her like an actual dog most of the time until she slowly began to recover her humanity and speech patterns. LOLOLOL. Please don't let this turn you off...it was quite a necessary recovering process, and a good bonding time for them. And yes, THERE WAS RESPECT and CONSENT in every interaction.

OVERALL this was sweet and passionate. The characters were loving, loyal and fierce, and seriously it's all just rainbows and hearts here. If you want something edgy or erotic, this isn't it. But if you're looking for intense romance and shifter politics, this would be a good place to start.

And if you're a shifter romance veteran reader, don't even hesitate to add this on your TBR list.

This was a welcome dip into the Shifter world by author Nikita Slater. I enjoy the Shifter trope so seeing a one-click author of mine try her hand at fated mates has opened up a brand new series set in a world where humans know Shifters exist. The series is based around five brothers, with this one focussing on Lock, the well-accomplished General who help protect his species when humans attacked Shifters centuries ago in a war. When his brother, the popularly anointed king, slowly declines into self-importance and then madness after a witch, also his fated mate, disappeared after casting a spell on him and his siblings, Lock turns his back on family, friends and home, choosing instead to live a quiet and peaceful life of solitude. Having felt his fated mate die by their magical connection before he'd ever met her, he's resolved to a life alone until a damaged wolf crashes into his world and shakes it to its core. Traumatised and unable to shift into human form after centuries as a wolf, Sarina has lost her former self to her animal after the king tried to force her into submission to marry and mate him. When she meets Lock, their souls intertwine as fate takes the lead, resulting in their lives changing forever.

As you'd expect from this author, the world building was solid. As this is Book 1 in the Immortal Wolf Shifters, the first few chapters push through the premise of the series and give the reader a run-down on wolf-human politics and the history of the five brothers that make up the alphas of the pack the books are based around. The world is one where Shifters and humans have a tenuous relationship. Having fought in a violent and bloody war centuries ago, they've reached a semblance of peace as they co-exist together, following the rules set by the treaty they both agreed to. Lock was your typical alpha wolf: growly, dominant, extremely jealous and possessive. He was kind to Sarina, however, which made him likeable. Readers that enjoy a heroine more on the innocent/naïve side will like Sarina. Due to being stuck in her wolf form for so long, she's forgotten her human past so everything is new and has to be relearnt, giving her an almost child-like wonderment of things at times.

The story, as well as the series, sets itself around fated mates, my preferred trope in the Shifter world. There was a lot of emphasis on how damaged Sarina was but this eased off a bit as the story went on. There was plenty of steam that burned up the pages and will keep readers happy. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I'll definitely be continuing with the series. Oh, and I loved the cover - it's gorgeous!

I liked the FMC and MMC individually, as well as together. The plot kept my interest, and the author managed to get me intrigued enough by Lock’s brothers that I plan to read their individual books when they come out.

My only big issue was with the timeline. The Human-Shifter War began during the Industrial Revolution—which took place between 1760 and 1840—and lasted thirty-two years—which means the war started and ended sometime between 1760 and 1872. With the additional knowledge that the majority of the book is set seven-hundred years after the war ended, we’re able to narrow the “present day” timeline to between 2460 and 2572. This is where my issue comes in—the “present day” world building (technological advances and what not) is only as modern as ours in the 21st century, so if we’re to believe the timeline is accurate, we’d also have to believe that humans made zero technological advances for over 440 years—and whilst I’m able to suspend my disbelief whilst reading fiction, this freeze on advancement is not possible or supported by the plot.

(I only identified eight grammar/editing mistakes, which I don’t consider to be a lot. I also didn’t find them to be too distracting. )

This is the start of a new series, as well as the author's first foray into this genre. There is a some world building, but not enough to get confusing and there is a foundation set at the beginning detailing the hero, his role in the world and the family dynamics. It honestly started with a bang that had me going "what is going ON?!" not even 10% in.

Lock is the head of the military force's for his brother, who is king and slowly devolving and changing. His brother is literally dubbed the Lunatic King. Due to some SERIOUSLY egregious choices the king has made in regards to his fated mate who happens to be a witch, the entire family is cursed. Lock leaves, partly because he knows that if he stays he will have to stand against his brother, and partly to find his own fated mate.

Years later, he finds his fated mate, Sarina, in his own backyard. Sarina, herself a shifter, is in wolf form and has been for so long that she no longer remembers being human. The trauma that caused this stems from the king being convinced that she is his mate and ruthlessly attempting to make her bend or else. Lock takes in this feral creature and the scenes between them are both hilarious and heartbreaking because he wants so desperately to be with his mate, and she just wants to be free as any wild animal does.

Watching the progression of her healing and overcoming the trauma that caused the initial schism was rewarding as you see the relationship grow and face setbacks.

There is a ton of action as the king finds out that Sarina is alive, still convinced that she is his. There is court intrigue. There is betrayal. There is confrontation. There is a LOT. I am honestly really intrigued by find out more about the brothers and see how the series develops.

Well, she’s done it again! Damaged Mate is book one in a new series and was a wonderful read. I say it over and over (and in review and review) and I’ll say it again - Nikita Skater is a gifted storyteller and writer. It’s like she’s made words her b!*<€$. The things she can do with them.

Other reviewers dig down into the story, and the author provides a compelling synopsis. I want to share my experience reading this book. It usually starts with checking my ereader battery, the night before and ensuring it’s charged/ charging. Waking up and on my way to my coffee, checking email and reader for downloads; I’ve been known to take a day off work, for a Nikita Slater release. Settle into my reading spot, taking my first sip and then it’s that sweet sweet moment after touching that cover, and waiting for the download… 5%, 50%, opening! It was so easy to just into this book from chapter one, look up and realize the afternoon has just slipped by, and dive right back in. Best day ever.

As always, by this author, Damaged Mate has solid and well developed characters and world building, the story arc is compelling. The MCs chemistry is on point with interesting side characters.

I canNOT wait for more in this series. Nikita Slater has been a go to read/ reread for me for years; quite frankly if she writes it I reads it. And I don’t see that changing. I received a copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

When this first landed on my Kindle, I knew in my heart right away that I would fall in love with this book. Going in, not even far in the story, Nikita went BOOM and gave me a good feeling that she feel give me more good.

This book is heavy with plot (as all of the author's books are anyways) and the world building is amazing, again, as always. The character building was perfect and the story itself was perfectly paced, I was never bored all throughout.

The hero is our usual j/p/o character. He saw this wolf and was convinced she was his mate. This is what really made the book more interesting — it was unlike any other books I've read. The dynamics of each characters were perfectly presented on every page.

The heroine, she's been in wolf form for a long time and due to some instances, seems to be carrying some trauma.

Honestly, I've always believed in this author's story telling ability. She can create worlds for her characters and make them unique in her own ways.

Trust me when I say this book is something worth every penny you will spend for this.

I'm so truly excited for what's more to come!

Beautiful new shifter series!

If you know Nikita Slater you know she write with a golden pen! If you do not know, now you will learn, she writes with a golden pen! Lol.

The way she weaves the tale of a young shifter Sarafina and her warrior shifter mate Lock. It was wonderful. Sue to a spell from a witch Lock and his brothers were not able to connect to their mates but fate and love brought Lock and Sarafina together.

Fina went through a traumatizing ordeal and came out stronger on the other side. Fina went into hiding and refused to change into human. She turned into a wild seemingly untamable wolf. Fate and love drew her to her mate and his patience and persistence helped to pull her into the light. It was so cute watching (yes Nikita writes so that you can picture everything in your minds eye) Lock struggle to tame the wild Fina. The way she caught him tooth and nail had me cracking up. As you watch them grow together and learn how to overcome the spell that kept them apart you really feel like you’re there with them going through it all.

If you love shifter romances like I do give this one a try.

You won’t be disappointed.

I have read many books by Nikita Slater and I love every book and Genre she has written. This is her first shifter series and I am so in love with Lock & Sarina. This book has all the feels. If you like paranormal romance, this book is for you. I do not give spoilers in my reviews. I think all the surprises should happen while you are reading, not by me. So, I will just give a quick overview.

Lock is leaving all that he is ever known for a couple of reasons. One, his brother King is loosing his mind, and two because King's mate put a curse on all of the brothers and their mates. Lock goes on his way and lives on his own for 200 years when his mate arrives right in his neck of the woods. Sarina has been mistreated and abused. Her human self died and Lock felt that. Sarina let her wolf take over and she allowed a voice guide her to where her true mate was. That true mate was Lock.

This series is so good, and per usual, she left me wanting more. I absolutely recommend this new book and series. Kudos Nikita for another five-star read!!!

I love shifter books and this was so much fun to read and everything starts with a lunatic King…

Sarina is a shifter who has been stuck for the past 2 centuries in her wolf form; however, when she comes to meet Lock who is her fated mate, she does not recognize him or trust him.

Lock’s backstory is he left centuries ago from a royal position to hopefully find his mate; however, there is one obstacle, a curse. So, when he does find his mate he must somehow house train (way too funny)and get her to do the impossible, trust him. Also, hold on, this is where all the fun and laughs begin. Oh by the way he names her Spot! Don’t you just love it.

There are more characters introduced in this wonderful book and hopefully they will get their own story too.

This book has all the Omegaverse hotness and a HEA just how I like it. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat.

This is a new genre for Nikita Slater and I have to say it was FABULOUS!! I didn’t know what to expect since her typical genre usually centers around mafia but as usually Nikita has blown me away by her ability to draw a reader in and keep them hooked until the very last page not to mention panting for more (yes, pun intended)!!!
This book starts the series of the Immortal Wolf Shifters and is book 1. Book 1 Damaged Mate follows Lock and Sarina and their struggle to find their fated mate. A curse that has doomed Lock’s family and has affected Sarina to the point where she wants nothing to do with being mated takes the two of them on a bumpy, emotional ride from the time they meet. This is a five star read and I can’t wait to see what Nikita has in store for Lock’s brothers.

WOW! This is a fantastic start to this new series. The world building and imagery was outstanding and instantly transported me to this amazing shifter world. It kept me gripping my kindle tightly and turning the pages quickly to see how the story would unfold.

I was instantly drawn to Sarafina and Lock. They have an instant connection that was undeniable and fantastic chemistry that kept pulling them together. Their back-and-forth banter was funny at times and then filled with this intense desire and need for each other. They took us on an emotional journey that I could not get enough of.

Fantastic writing, wonderful characters and a storyline that is action packed, suspenseful, drama filled and passionate. A definite must read.

DNF @ 69%.

very excited that this author is writing PNR now, and despite not finishing this one, i will be reading the whole series.

i tried very valiantly to finish, but it took me an unprecedented 6 days to get through almost 70%, so i chose to let it go.

this was pretty much a case of "it's not you, it's me".
im just not much for far-reaching drama. having to overthrow a king, and the question of who will rule, etc... it doesn't interest me much.
i wanted a spicy shifter romance with a ton of trust issues slowly being overcome. when in fact, most of this very important relationship development happened off-page, because of a big time jump. very sad.

A different take on Wolf Shifters.

I have read many PNR stories on shifters, and even though, this first book of the series was very well written and flowed seamlessly, there was still something missing. I could not connect with the main characters or the story. It is hard to put my finger on it, but the way it was told, it somehow lacked warmth. Overall, an intriguing story, that centers around 5 brothers, a curse that was put on them and one of the brothers finding and fighting for his fated-mate. The story of this first brother concludes with this book. Not sure yet if I will continue to read the rest of the series once it comes out. Enjoy 😀

Arc

I was excited to read this new series and prepared to sink in a new world, me been very familiar with shifters.
The surprise was on the first pages and introduction to her world.
This new series is undeliverable and refreshing! I love Nikita imagination and her continuous reinventing something so popular lately.
I think this was one of the most sweet H by her, this dark inner more tamed. He was still j/p.
Sarina was a damaged, but with Lock's help, she bloomed in this strong female.
Can't wait for the next one!!!

Another Fabulous Book by Nikita Slater...I haven't read a shifter romance in forever. Nikita Slater has outdone herself with this book. I was lured in from the beginning, especially by the descriptions of the shifters. I had a great visual of Lock and Sarina and couldn't wait to finish the story to see the ending. Nikita takes us through a journey of 2 mated wolves as they find each other and figure out their destiny of being mated and what's ahead of them. Don't miss out on this brilliantly written book.

I believe this is Nikita Slater's first shifter book, and she has done an amazing job with it. I love how she tells the story of the characters and how their lives come together. The two main characters are great, and it took them some time to find each other, but once they did, they couldn't be separated. If you like shifter books, you will definitely love this one, and I am hoping there will be more to come because we need all the brothers' stories. Nikita, you did a fantastic job with this book.

Honestly I was a bit worried that I might not like the book as it's Nikita's first story in paranormal shifter genre and that's why I delayed starting it, because I didn't want to be disappointed but... OMG I was blown away. From the start the story had me hooked as Nikita does excellent job making the characters sound so realistic and made me feel like I was there. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
Nikita Slater you are freaking Guru in writing and I am so glad that I found you!

I downloaded Damaged Mate, book 1 of the Immortal Wolf Shifters series, as a loaner ebook from Amazon Kindle Unlimited. My preferred genre is urban fantasy but I enjoyed the world building for this paranormal romance. I was pulled into the unique storyline. There were plenty of surprises and reveals the author tossed our way to hold the reader's attention and keep them guessing. It wasn't as predictable as I'd originally assumed.
