The Dream Dancers: Akashic Chronicles #3

The Witches of Scotland Book 3

Rate this book
It’s one thing to read about witches and wizards, it’s another thing to discover you are one. David, Aunt Gen and Terence are in a race to find Jessica as they discover her life is in danger.

Alicia is attacked whilst she astral projects and is furious until she discovers who has attacked her.

The Glasgow Dream Dancers are in more danger than they know.

More secrets from the past are revealed and the British and American Governments fight to control the witches power. This could be the start of the end for the Witches of Scotland. A thriller story of witchcraft, astral projection, family loyalty, ambition, greed and lust. A story that’s not quite as farfetched as you might think…

The first book in this series is really captivating and sets up the next books really well. This book in the series felt like it was just a filler book and was all over the place. This book has definitely made me lose interest in the series overall.

Book 3: overpowering death.

So, book 3 was not as good as the first two but still left the reader hanging and wanting for more. Jessica gives us a bit a scare. Will David come to het rescue? Read to find out. I'm off to start book 4 in the series.

Disappointed

I think you're a good writer and story teller but.........I really think you can do better than this. I think this should have been one novel, maybe with a sequel. Not seven! When condensed it may not have been so predictable and written, basically, for young adolescents.
I like the context, its simply too dragged out!
Sorry

This book isn’t as exciting as the first, but it is interesting in the way David is learning more about energy, power, and the way everyone contributes to the energy of the universe.
Jessica makes a couple of mistakes that are rather arrogant. She thinks she doesn’t need help or knows better than David and others, so nearly the whole book is spent trying to find her. (At least it seems like the whole book, because the storyline was slow.)
The plot doesn’t move forward as much as in the first and second book, and it ends abruptly like the second one did. There’s almost little reason, or perhaps it’s just I who feels little reason to move on to book four. I will read it, though. I like to finish a series once I begin it.
There are several more errors in punctuation and continuity than in the previous two. It’s an okay book, I just feel that the author should be more focused on moving the plot forward more quickly and ending the book on a bigger cliff hanger.

Jess needs to learn team work

A very short read but being there is a few of them it's great. if you read a lot like me you will read back to back but they are great for one book a day and get dishes done cosy up in bed (not stay up all night reading because short reads)
The journey continues this one had me crying a little was not sure how this was going to end but I was hopeful.

Over in a blink

This book took me all of 2 dedicated hours to read. Yes, it's a fast paced story, this just felt rushed.

High Stakes, Big Reveals, and a Frustrating Female Lead

Book Three of Steven Aitchison’s The Witches of Scotland series is filled with consequences, revelations, and character growth. Though not everyone equally grows as they should, some still need more than a near death experience to change apparently. *insert Latina eye roll* Much of the story revolves around Jessica’s impulsivity. Despite all she and David have endured so far, she continues to run off without a plan, endangering herself and everyone around her which seems to stem from even her younger years in the story of what happened to her mother. Giving the sense that she may be the albatross around David’s neck soon enough. By the end of the book, it hints that she still hasn’t learned her lesson, and it seems we are gearing up for more exhausting choices that put her and her circle in danger over and over again.

“I’m beginning to realize a lot of things about myself, but I promise to be a little more careful and considerate next time...”

While Jessica remains “a little more” frustrating, the rest of the story is incredibly engaging. David is forced to level up, both in power and in maturity, as he and everyone around him work tirelessly to save Jessica. The plot twists in particular that reveal of why she was let go the first time, which wasn’t directly stated, but feels like a calculated ploy to draw David out kept me hooked.

One of the most intriguing threads is David’s continued silent vulnerability to Alicia’s influence. The lingering attraction raises questions: is what he feels real, or is it still magic-induced manipulation? The tension this creates leaves any potential romance with either Jessica or Alicia tinged with doubt.

What I absolutely loved about this book were the broader arcs: Aunt Gen’s revelations about David’s parents add depth and clarity to the mystery, while David and Terence’s bromance continues to be one of the highlights of the series. *insert heart eyes* Their dynamic brings both levity and loyalty, reminding me of the Dean and Crowley partnership from Supernatural, only Terrence is far cuter and Crowley could never. *insert wink*

Book Three was a ride with enthralling, entertaining, and action filled pages with answers that deepen the worldbuilding. Still, Jessica’s “damsel in distress” trope is wearing thin. Would definitely love to see her become a female character with depth not a plot point. I’m hoping that in Book Four, she finally grows into someone who protects herself by understanding communication and how it protects her circle by planning, and valuing the effort of people who risk everything for her. If this reckless trend continues, I fear my rooting for her demise will ultimately grow.

Despite that, I’m fully invested in the series and eager for Book Four. Atchison’s writing style is captivating, and his deserves his flowers for building a world that continues to surprise me. A 4.5 leaning more towards 4.

Reads like a Novella. Very disappointing way to end a book.

I've read books One and Two. Book One was similar to book Two. Book Two is less than 50,000 words. It's too short for a novel, really short for the Science Fiction genre. One chapter was just two pages long!

This could have been a great series. It has an interesting concept, but it feels as if the author is writing a Batman episode for TV. Oof, bam. Wait for the next episode (book). It may be great for some, but not the type of ending I can enjoy.

Hopefully there's more to come in this series and they get published in physical book form as i'd like to gift them to a few folk
' It's all to do with energy. Every single thought you have has a unique energy signature. Your energy signature is completely different from plants' energy signatures...Every creature, every atom, every molecule, every thought that ever existed in the multiverses and all entities who have ever existed, their energies make up the ether of The Source.'
Indeed.

Would never buy these books

These aren’t books, more like pamphlets. Each book is smaller than the last. The storyline started out great but one of the characters continually gets into trouble and almost dies. You’d think they would learn at least by the 2nd time not to go off on their own. I’m only continuing to read because I have a kindle unlimited trial, otherwise I would not have read this 3rd book. Not sure I’ll read the 4th book at all.

Don't read this series out of order. It's difficult after just 4 months to remember what was happening. There was no prologue in this book and I am not sure how the beginning of this book ties to the end of #2.
The stories are very short and after one altercation the book ends. As short as they are, two books together still make a fairly short book.
Basically Jessica gets into trouble, David saves her and gets a new crystal power he needs to learn how to use.

Such a good read if you are familiar with Chakras and the planes of existence!

This book keeps you on the seat of your pants and definitely in suspense! It is a wild ride about stuff that is taught by Edgar Cayce and it involves the different planes of existing. It also talks about how meditation of the chakras can heal body and mind.

I love the way the author comes up with a magiikal way to make a new society we can believe exists.

The main characters are very believable and easy to care about. He has made believable evil bad guys that want to abuse their power or others powers. As he sets up these situations in these books you can see some of the same kind of situations in our world just not with magic.

I didn't love this one quite as much as the previous two, but I am looking forward to continuing the series. There were too many conspiracies in this one, and I found myself struggling to keep up. But these are quick reads, and I appreciate the characters and the growth they are experiencing so I will keep following the witches!

So? What happened??

Read all three in a whirlwind of reading every spare minute. And now? Ya can't leave me hanging like this! Must. Have. More! Such a great read. All three characters that come alive on every page. Sooo many secrets and all to be revealed.

I really hope there will be a fourth book. This one was super.

The story continues. The energy (no pun intended) carried through and the plot thickens.

With all the twists and turns the story just kept getting better.

Read all 3 books. Great reads! Surprising how much nonfiction is in this fiction book, normally I NEVER read nonfiction, so I was a little taken back, BUT, I loved how he made me stop and think. What I want to know now is, where's the next book?!

This story is getting better with each installment. Love Jessica, David is growing up quickly into a character of worth. Lots of twists and turns. Would recommend for young adults or teens in particular. Keep going, wish the books were longer.

Couldn't put this one down. Now on to the next!

I am a slow reader and this one was read in about a half day.
This book involved a death, a rescue 2 added artefacts, so more power. We also learned a tiny bit about who the evil players are

Getting better

This one took an unexpected turn about half way through. The story gets deeper and darker. And even a little bit political. Definitely more interesting. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Certainly not your average witch

Not anything like other portrayals of witches and wizards. These beings have a vested interest in everyone's well being and a job to keep the world safe. Failure is not an option

Intense

Okay this one was really intense to say the least. How Steven brought everything together was amazing. I will tell you though after a certain part I almost put the book down and didn’t pic it back up. Buy boy I’m so glad I stuck with it. It was totally worth the sad part.

This series gets more exciting as it moves forward.

I cannot put my book down. I cannot believe how immersed I get into reading and don’t stop until ‘the end’. I am ready for the journey to continue.
