Hey there! Before I tell you all about myself, can I invite you to join my private Rachel's Readers Facebook group? That's where my readers hang out, discuss my books, participate in giveaways and learn about new releases.
So who am I? My name is Rachel Hanna, and I am a wife, mother of three incredible kids (maybe I am a BIT biased?), two lovable doggies and one cat that lives outside and thinks he owns the world. Okay, I also have a gecko now too. Don't judge me.
I started writing as a young child, and I went into the field of Journalism for many years as an adult. Now, as a romantic fiction writer, I get to live out my own daydreams every single day and share them with readers around the world!
I'm a Southern chick living near Atlanta, so I say "yes, ma'm" and "ya'll", but I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
If this series never ended, I would be a happy reader. I love that book 10 has a long awaited (by Me) baby coming and I loved that my favorite character Dixie is still making appearances.
This series of books has been such a fun thing to read and I have now introduced my mother to them. She is reading again for the first time in five years and I can barely keep up with her and it makes my heart so happy to see her enjoying these books. This one was just as lovable. Two people starting over after devastating losses and problems. I loved how they thought they would start out as friends and reading how their relationship unfolded was so great. I have read many books by this author and I recommend them to everyone.
Seldom do I write reviews, especially if a book simply may not be my cup of tea. I read (well, listened) to the entire book, in spite of not wanting to finish it. I really had hopes for it to improve. I did not.
First, Julie became more unlikeable. Also, there were inconsistencies between this book and the ones earlier in the series. The biggest issue was how horrible the dialect was (which is in part of the writing and in part the horrible narration). The conversations amongst characters seemed incredibly juvenile (and very unrealistic).
I’m genuinely disappointed, as I really wanted to enjoy the series and author.
I love how this book lets us catch up with all the people we love to read about on Seagrove Island and see what's happening in their lives and meet the newest residence of this wonderful little community.
Another fantastic read in Rachel Hanna’s series! Chasing Sunsets earns a solid 4 stars from me. This book is a wonderful addition, capturing all the heartwarming moments and charm that I’ve come to expect from this series. Hanna’s ability to bring characters and settings to life is impressive, and once again, she nails the feel-good atmosphere. Fans of the series will not be disappointed—highly recommended!
5 stars for Chasing Sunsets (South Carolina Sunsets Book 10). Going back to Seagrove is like visiting with old friends. Janine is a new mom. Dixie has to step back from work. Colleen and Tucker secretly married in Vegas and there is a new arrival in town. Life is as it should be in Julie's world.
I loved this book!! It’s always fun getting to check in and get reacquainted with former characters as well as meet new ones. This is such a great series!
This book was a great extension of the existing characters with the addition of a new one. You get to catch up on the lives of the people that live in Seagrove and meet Heath. The development of the relationship between Emma and Heath is very heartwarming and fun. And has an interesting twist. It is a great book and I recommend the entire series as Ms Hanna introduces new characters to the series and keeps you updated on existing characters.
Again the storyline was sweet if not a bit foreshadowing. But the timeline was messed up. Colleen was previously engaged in the book Beneath the willows and here in the beginning of chasing sunsets she’s not engaged. Later she became engaged and married while visiting Las Vegas! Madison was 3 months old at the end of mutts and magnolias and is now 6 weeks old in this book. Then in one book Julie complained inwardly about Dawson’s grandmother’s couch how stiff, uncomfortable and old fashioned it was and she wished she could replace it. Which Dawson should have considered when marrying Julie. Then when Heather was pregnant she fell asleep on Julie’s couch and remarked how soft and cushioned it was! Then both Meg and her sister Colleen took birth control pills for heavy menstrual cycles and both of them missed a pill or so and both got pregnant?? Seriously?? These facts need to follow through a series not be sporadically changed. There always seems to be snide remarks tossed around with most of the characters way more often than necessary in my opinion. There also seems to be “ten dollar words” tossed around without rhyme or reason. Much as the story or technically stories were fun to read I am moving to another author. I will come back around to the other series, that I previously purchased from this author, at a later date. I do believe a break is needed.
And that’s a wrap! Just completed the final two books of Rachel Hanna’s South Carolina Sunsets series. After the first 3-4 books, I could tell there would be a pattern to her writing. The small town where the stories took place is like wonderland. You’ll wonder if anything ever goes wrong there.
I can best describe the final two books, and the entire series, by comparing it to a pitcher of southern sweet tea on a hot and humid day. The first glass or two taste good and manage to quench your thirst. But the more you drink it, the more sugary and less satisfying it becomes.
All the female characters in this series managed to find their man, get their baby, and live happily ever after.
I’ll be taking a break from this author for awhile. I’m not thirsty for sweet tea anymore.
Chasing Sunsets is the latest book in the South Carolina Sunsets series and just like the other books in the series, this does not disappoint. I really enjoy reading anything by this author. She knows how to bring the characters to life so you feel like they are your friends. It always leaving me wanting more
It is always great to catch up with the residents of Seagrove. As we are catching up we are introduced to a new guy in town, Heath Dutton. After the passing of his beloved wife, he traveled around the world painting sunsets. His wife loved sunsets so painting them brought him closer to her, After 3 years, he decided he needed to settle down and he chose Seagrove. Now that he is in Seagrove, will a love from his past help him find love again?
Catching up with the residents , we have come to love, Colleen and Tucker have come home from traveling and They have a secret that Colleen is having trouble sharing with her mother. Not only do they have a secret, they also have big surprise.
SuAnn and her bakery are instant famous.
Dixie is having some health problems.
Janine is learning to be a new mom.
Meg is struggling at her new job.
This author really knows how to bring you into her story. I recommend this book. If you haven't read the first book, The House, I definitely recommend you read that one first so you can get to know the characters. The entire series is great.
This is probably my least favorite of the series. I guess my biggest problem is how childish Julie acted about her oldest daughter eloping because "we" could have had....or "we" should have done...when it wasn't "we" at all. It was Colleen and Tucker's wedding and they shouldn't have had to apologize for doing exactly what "they" wanted to do. Made Julie seem very shallow and too needy. Up until this book I really liked the character, but now she kind of gets on my nerves.
Also, Emma the lighthouse keeper not knowing the number of steps in the lighthouse that she kept seemed super stupid. I would expect that almost every visitor would ask that question before climbing to the top.
Still a cute book and an easy read but definitely not as good as some of the others in this series.
Chasing Sunsets is another great addition to South Carolina Sunsets Series Book 10. If you have read this series in order, then you know that Rachel Hanna adds new people with each book. This month besides all the familiar faces, a new artist moves to town. He is renting a home on the water next to the Lighthouse where Emma still is taking people on tours everyday. Emma soon meets Heath and for the first time in forever, she feels a shiver up her spine when Heath shakes her hand. She also senses he looks very good familiar. There are lots of surprises in Chasing Sunsets, it was a really delightful read!!
This story is about Emma and Heath a new resident at Seagrove. Both are healing from tragic incidents. They become neighbors and friends. In this story there is a secret that Colleen and Tucker share and want to become known to her mother. This becomes a bit tangled. Janine is getting use to being a new mother and does her best but sometimes there are bumps in the road. Dixie gets some unsettling news and makes adjustments. At the end there is a very nice surprise.
This is the 10th installment of this series and I've read them all and am hooked! Seagrove is so picturesque, the characters are likeable, and I love how these are light, quick reads. I'm not a fan of how many new characters there are in the last several books (who are almost always love interests, such as Heath in this book)- I'd rather hear more about the original characters from the first few books and see those characters further developed. I do hope this series continues!
After his wife died, artist Heath Dutton spent three years traveling the world painting sunsets in her memory, and now it's time to settle down, so he moves to Seagrove, hoping it will help him finally heal his broken heart. In the meantime, Colleen and Tucker return home from their travels with some big news, Janine and William are adjusting to their new role as parents, and SuAnn becomes famous in this tenth book of a charming series.
I hope she is continuing this series for those that are now "invested" after 10 books. I feel like this 10 book series has only covered like a year or 2 time. It really has been a blow away seriers. This book was okay but really nothing happened you could skip it and never really miss much. That was my problem with this series all along. I felt like I could read every other book and still know what was happening.
I cannot believe that I have read 10 Carolina Sunset books so far, and that I continue to have an ongoing relationship with the characters, the South Carolina beaches, the Marshes and town of Seagrove, since I started reading Book 1. I hope I can remain upbeat in my thoughts after Book 11, since that is the last book in the series. I hope everything and everyone from Seagrove is neatly wrapped for me.
I enjoyed this nook. Good story. However, this is one book that definitely needed a proofreader! Way too many errors. Wrong names used, referring to one character as the grandmother when she was the mother, leaving words out of sentences so you had to read twice to get the meaning. I don't remember errors like this in the prior 9 books.
As in all of her books and series, Rachel Hanna always knocks it out of the ballpark, and Chasing Sunsets was no exception. I have really enjoyed the South Carolina Sunsets series, and they kept getting better, They were all about new beginnings with family and friends. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about family and friends.
Another good book by Rachel Hanna. I have read several of her series but this one by far continues to be my favorite. Her characters are real and very likable. It is nice because she introduces the characters in the first book and they are seen through out her books. I look forward to reading more of her books.
Noone's going to talk about the storyline issue from book 9 to book 10?? I had a hard time getting into the story because of this flaw and then it just continued to come up over and over again. If you haven't read the entire series, it won't matter, but for those of us who have, it was a big mistake!
This is a continuation of The South Carolina Sunsets. It’s book#10. It’nice to have familiar characters turn up even as I’m getting to know the new characters. Clean romance, with human real characters. It’s not life changing, but it is entertaining reading.
This book is part of the South Carolina Sunsets series. It centers around Heath and Emma getting to know each other, along with the other characters making appearances. It deals with a variety of different subjects and has a unique twist near the end of the book. if you're looking for a quick read I recommend picking this one up.
All of the books in this series are simple and predictable. Her story lines don’t match up as Colleen was engaged previously when she flashed her engagement ring over a FaceTime video call on their long road trip. At this point, I am reading the series to finish what I started, not necessarily out of enjoyment.
I so enjoyed this series. It's such a joy to read without all the grit or gore. A very relaxing story of life, friends and family. I wish this series never ended. I plan on reading more of Rachel Hanna.
Second chances are always a hit with me. And getting the chance to revisit and get caught up with old friends is like coming home again. Another winner from Rachel!
