After toasting farewell to her twenties, Andrea Bellini went back to her hotel room to sleep off the margarita marathon she had with her friends in Las Vegas. Before her head hit the pillow, she was visited by a blast from her past who came to fulfill a marriage pact they had made as teenagers. Andrea decides to throw caution to the wind, only to find herself in the middle of paradise as the prime suspect in a murder investigation. Will Andrea's Vegas gamble pay off or will her heart go bust?
This was a different reading experience for me as this was my first time reading a Kindle Vella title. If you're the type of reader who pulls a book off the shelf in the bookstore and sits and reads the first chapter before committing to buying it, this would be perfect for you!
This was a cozy mystery, which I adore, that has vibes of early Stephanie Plum. Andrea is in Vegas with friends saying goodbye to her 20s. After a booze-soaked afternoon, she retreats to her hotel room hoping to sleep off the alcohol when there's a knock at the door. To her surprise, it's a childhood friend with an engagement ring in hand, ready to fulfill the pact that they made as kids...if they weren't married by 30, they'd marry each other.
It was either the alcohol or a ticking biological clock, but Andrea agrees. What follows is one big mess that was absolutely hilarious for the reader. I really enjoyed this book and will continue to browse through Vella to see what other gems I can find!
I liked the story because it was a cozy mystery and was amusing to read the predicaments that the main character got into but I don’t think these Kindle Novellas are my thing. I’d rather purchase an ebook and read as much or as little as I have time for rather than reading an episode and purchasing tokens to continue reading. That was distracting from the enjoyment of what was a fun story. I have the story 5 stars but if asked, I’d give Novella reading about 2 stars.
A follow on book to Murder, Mayhem, and Macarons. The main characters from Murder, Mayhem and Macarons make cameo appearance while on their honeymoon. This was also Kindle Vella read. I like the book, it was entertaining but still I think the price is too much per chapter for the quality of the books. I think I liked the main characters in this a little more but found the main premise a little unbelievable.
Any books taking place in Hawaii have my heart. Love Mai Tais, even though they were the murder weapon. I read this on Kindle Vella. It was very cute. The chemistry between the two main characters felt real. They each had a lot of baggage. I’m glad everything worked out in the end. I’m anxious to start the third Vella in this series.
