When she arrived at Obscure Academy, Krissi promised herself she'd focus on her studies and cheer practice. She wasn't going to worry about boys or the fact she's less than graceful in her leopard form.
Everything changes when she shares an accidental kiss with her flatmate, and despite every attempt to stay away from Jeremy, she keeps finding herself drawn back to the tiger shifter.
Can Jeremy convince her to give their relationship a chance?

Krissi doesn’t believe that she’s going to have time for boys and books, not if she wants to excel on the Obscure Academy cheer team too. But can she keep her focus when sweet, handsome Jeremy keeps turning her head? Oh my gosh! That was just so incredibly adorable. It went by in a blink and I’m so grateful to know that there will be more books about all these characters because I kind of think I’ve gone and fallen for the whole lot of them. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
I had to read this novel, not just because the author is really good at her craft, but because she chose the most intriguing title. Every other book about shifters shows shifters who generally physically perfect and capable - no learning how to be shifters required. This one? I so like Krissi's imperfect capabilities as a shifter - that makes her so relatable to me, the non-jock. A fun take on shifters!

Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines is a fun and lighthearted paranormal romance book. It follows mostly the point of view of Krissi, who is attending Obscure Academy, we get to know her and some of her flatmates. Krissi wants to focus on cheer leading and studying, but gets distracted by one of her flatmates Jeremy and they slowly develop feelings.
I like to pick up one of Laura Greenwood's books when I am in the mood for a fun shorter read in between other books. And this book sounds the right mix of fun and lighthearted that fit my mood. That did seem indeed to be the case. The pace was well done and I always appreciate how every scene and chapter has a goal and moves the plot forward in one way or another or shows us something more about the characters and their relationship.
I liked Krissi, I thought her dedication to cheer leading and studying was admirable. She could be a bit stubborn, but I thought that felt realistic. She kept trying to keep Jeremy as just a friend, not admitting to even herself she wanted it to be more. I also thought it was great how she actually explained this to Jeremy. I liked how Jeremy appreciated her boundaries and also how he stuck around and was there for her. There are a few chapters from his point of view as well that gives some additional insight in his character. I thought Jeremy and Krissi made for a great couple. I would've liked to see more of them as a couple, but even though they only become a couple late in the book there are plenty of scenes with them together. Hopefully we see more of them in future books as well.
Besides Krissi and Jeremy there are some fun side characters. Krissi quickly makes a good friend who is also a cheer leader. I liked getting a feel for Krissi's flatmates and I think most of them will get their own story too. I thought it was a fun set up with them all sharing a flat and I am curious about Bernie the vampire, who has a nice scene together with Krissi that reveals some of her struggled. I look forward to reading more stories in this series.
This book is very light in the paranormal aspect, but I thought that worked well. I thought it was fun to read about a shifter who rather spends time in her human form and is much more graceful as a human than as her feline form. There are a few scenes with them as shifters, but mostly it's more the slight paranormal vibe with most characters being a supernatural species of some sort.
To summarize: I had fun reading this book. Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines is a fun and lighthearted paranormal romance read. I liked the building romance between Krissi and Jeremy. Krissi wants to focus on cheer leading and studying, but finds herself distracted by Jeremy after all. I liked how they communicated and seeing them eventually turn into a couple. There are plenty of interesting side characters that I look forward to reading more about. The paranormal aspect is pretty light, but definitely present with most characters being a supernatural species of some sort. I liked the concept of Krissi being more graceful as human than as a feline.
I don't know what it is, but I'm always so happy when I get another e-mail from BookSprout notifying that there is a new Laura Greenwood book available. I love my epic fantasies and my dramas and my dark reads, but sometimes I just want a book that makes me believe in love again and Greenwood never fails to do that.
When I reached the end of this book I once more had this huge smile on my face. Greenwood always manages to write such cute characters and cute love stories. It's impossible not to fall a little bit in love with those characters while reading and therefore it's impossible to not get that warm and happy feeling when everything works out in the end!
Apart from the romance, which is as always good and healthy and cute, I especially liked the setting of this story. Although I've attended university we don't really know campus life here and it's such a pity, because it sounds like such an awesome experience! Greenwood does a great job showing us how everything works and showing us that it's all about finding the right people.
I also really loved reconnecting with the hero of the story. I really enjoyed the series where he was a very important side character. And I understand why there was no room for his happy ending in that book, it wasn't his story after all, but I'm really glad we get to know him better in this one and I'm even happier he finds an amazing, although a bit stubborn, girl for himself in this one!
This was yet another great book by Greenwood that was just an easy and pleasant read. One that was a really great diversion. A really sweet story. But with almost no angst – which I kind of needed when I read this. I’m actually loving this style of writing at the moment, where there is enough action to keep you engaged, but not enough that you are even remotely worried about how the happily ever after will pan out. There is a whole lot less stress than some of the other romances that I sometimes read.
I like that this is a couple that start off as really good friends, and there are the questions of how and when to transition into a couple. I know that when I met my SO, he was a great friend, and it was a pretty big leap to take that plunge. Bigger than any other, because his friendship met a whole lot to me. And, like Jeremy and Krissi, I was pretty damn young. I love how Greenwood is able to write about a couple taking that plunge and being scared to do so! I think that for everyone who meets someone extra special that young… it’s a bit of a concern.
The cliché of two ‘jocks’ ending up together works really well in this novel – they both understand each other’s dedication to their chosen sports. I also love that, even though both Jeremy and Krissi start out not understanding much about each other’s sports, they both make the attempts to get to know more. It’s such a beautiful concept – that you try to get to know more about each other’s passions, not to join in, but to just appreciate each other all that much more. Plus, there is something fun about fitting into the expected cliches, but in a really cute and sweet way.
When we think of sporty types, there is always an assumption that the sporty individual is actually really coordinated. It was fantastic to have a storyline in which the sporty person is not graceful. That (in this case) in their shifted form, they are the clumsiest and most terrifyingly uncoordinated individual to be found. It kind of made me feel better to read about someone who is just that damn uncoordinated, and yet thrives in a physical way as well, it’s a great reminder that none of us can fit into just one box.
This is really going to be a fun series. The characters are totally relatable and interact at a college age level. The issues and challenges they are presented with are consistent with those facing older teens in that stage of life.
Krissi is just getting her feet wet being away from home and is determined to focus on her education and cheerleaders. Knowing she doesn't want to miss out on the "college experience" she is engaging socially with friends, but promises herself she will not enter into a romantic relationship. Jeremy is making that difficult for her to adhear to. He is a 2nd year, and her flatmate. He seems to have the social/school balance down fairly well and is more than willing to lend a hand and support Krissi when needed.
Will Krissi figure out hoe to get out of her own way before Jeremy finds other interests? Some of the introspection and conversations throughout are rather insightful, while others are just comical. I really enjoyed reading my ARC and hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. This, of course, is my honest, voluntary, opinion. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
What a fun introduction to Obscure Academy! This is Krissi & Jeremy's story, but is also introduces a new university and a really fun group of flatmates! I am looking forward to reading more of their stories. The whole concept is entertaining and done really well with the main characters strengths not lying where they are stereo-typically assumed to be. Krissi is an amazing and impressive athlete, with her eye on getting good grades, but isn't so graceful in her shifter form. Jeremy is just so adorable and sweet the way he respects and supports her! That is one of the things I like best about Laura's books - the relationships are always respectful and consent positive.
If you've read Sabre Woods Academy books you might remember Jeremy - in his second year now as a student at Obscure Academy. If not, this is a great way to meet him, and after reading this book you might just want to read about Kaylas' adventures starting in Tiger Crown too. There are a few other Easter eggs for other series in this shared world, but it absolutely can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Krissi is a cheerleader about to learn some unanticipated lessons about moral support, it’s value, giving it, and receiving it.
Jeremy is a rugby player, comfortable in his human and shifted forms, but with Krissi he discovers that magic he’s been missing in his life.
This done in one stand alone story is connected to others in this Universe, but is a solid stand alone read, a compelling story about truly getting to know yourself, even when you have a solid grip on either your identity or your goals… this story is a reminder we are complex beings, we are more than one thing, one goal or passion, and the encouragement and support of friends and community truly makes us stronger and more confident.
I was gifted with a copy of this book and chose to share my review.
“I don’t want to be a shifter above everything else. I want to be me.”.
Our heroine promised herself she would concentrate on school, but sometimes the distractions are just too compelling.
This is book one of the series, so a fine place to start.
The story is a paranormal romance with an academy setting. The story is well written and easy to read with a couple of fun characters as our leads. We get a nice bit of the usual academy elements coupled with a slightly awkward romance which all makes for a fast paced and fun story. Overall, this one was rather light and entertaining, which was perfect for a relaxing read. I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Highly recommended.

Krissi, a leopard, is at Obscure Academy and looking toward the cheerleading. On her first day she meets Jeremy, a tiger shifter. He's taken with her and keeps an eye on her when she's practicing or cheering for his rugby team. Meanwhile Krissi is trying to keep to what she promised herself when she went to college. To focus on her studies and cheering is what she should be doing but more and more she's focusing on Jeremy. Then she tells him she would like to be friends. Then from that point on she starts to get distracted with Jeremy thoughts. Will she get past her idiocy or will she lose something that she will regret? Another fantastic story in this series.

I loved this book, It was a fast, fun read. I enjoyed all of the characters and the book flowed smoothly, drawing you in. I personally enjoyed Krissi's dedication to cheerleading. As well as how cheerleading was portrayed in the book, specifically the competition scene. It was so cute that Krissi and Jeremy both tried to understand each other's sports. One of my very favorite scenes was the obstacle course and the support Krissi was given by Jeremy. There are so many great moments in the book, you have to read it, especially if you like academy books. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A lovely introduction to the Obscure Academy, which full of many different types of supernaturals. In this we follow Krissi, a clumsy leopard shifter cheerleader, and Jeremy, a tiger shifter and rugby player. They're both interested in sports and live in the same block of flats but while Jeremy is interested in being more then friends, Krissy's worried about her clumsiness and has sworn off boys to concentrate on her school work. Have they got a future together?
A lovely, sweet romance read. The start of the Obscure Academy series by Laura Greenwood, but can be read as a standalone.

Shifting Forms For Clumsy Felines (Book 1 of Obscure Academy) by Laura Greenwood is a shifter’s paranormal novel. This novel kind of reminded me of college when you knew you should be studying but the hormones were kicking in too. It’s hard to find that balance in life and find the good stable point. I can not imagine adding in being a shifter on top of that. Krissi and Jeremy were great characters. I enjoyed watching their friendship blossom into much more. Learning about Obscure Academy was great because as a beginning book in a series I am sure we will see much more of this place. Overall I enjoyed the book and look forward to more books in the future.
Series: Obscure Academy #1 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
I rarely read new adult/ college campus romances but when you throw in paranormal elements I am more likely to pick it up. Krissi is a freshman, a cheerleader, and a leopard shifter who is extremely clumsy in her shifted form. Jeremy is a second year student, a rugby player, a tiger shifter, and one of Krissi’s flatmates. These two were attracted to each other from the very beginning and their story was short and sweet. While I did enjoy it, I was expecting more of a resolution on Krissi’s clumsiness in shifted form. It felt like it got a bit lost in the sports aspect of the story.
Krissi is attending Obscure Academy. Trying to give serious time to her studies as well as be on the cheerleading team, she can’t see how she can make time for boys and dating. But her roommate, Jeremy, is so sweet and adorable that he’s really hard to resist. Oops – she didn’t mean to actually kiss him! Now what will she say when Jeremy wants her to give him a chance with her?
I love this author’s stories. Well-written and with wonderful, likable characters, you will definitely enjoy this one.
What a fun book. It was a sweet story. An Academy for supernatural beings. So many different people vampires, pixies, reaper big cats etc. The stories could just keep coming. These two characters the jock and the cheerleader yes such an expected pair. They even point that out in the story. I liked how they took time to get to know each other. I liked how their friends helped them figure out what they should do. Again a sweet fun read.

1st year ideals smashed! Krisi comes to Obscure Academy with some lofty ideals for herself and she try's hard to stick to them, but sometimes life throws you some curves you just gotta explore! Jeremy is in his second year but has been low key, but the sparks fly when they meet and one crazy party and those sparks sizzle. They both take it slow n easy getting to know each other but things ignite and they both have trouble staying in the friend zone. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to more OA adventures!
This book is such a nice, cute young love kind of romance. It is a nice change from all the steamy love stories out there. It kind of brings back memories from when we were young and our first love. Krissi is a leopard shifter who falls for a tiger shifter but she doesn't really want the distraction of a boyfriend. However, she learns that sometimes love can be more of a distraction when you try to ignore it. I recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.

Another sweet and light romance in the Obscure Academy series. I enjoy these books for the fact that they are all easygoing and fun romances between two people who are trying their best. In this one Krissi is a freshman whose plan is to concentrate on her studies and her cheerleading. She also has a self-imposed rule of no dating, until she meets Jeremy a rugby player, who is also one of her many roommates. Both Jeremy and Krissi are sweethearts, and I enjoyed watching them fall for each other. Can't wait to read more in the series.
Ah, I loved this book and the relationship between all of the characters.
Krissi is such a lovable character and I'm actually sad this is the only book about this couple, but I do love that there are books about the other characters.
I loved this book so much, that I downloaded the bonus scene at the end!
I received a complimentary copy of the book and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
Laura Greenwood has written a wonderful and relatable story. Krissi is a leopard shifter that is not graceful in animal form. She wants to focus on moving up the Obscure cheer team. She shares a kiss with her roommate Jeremy. As much as she tries to avoid him, the more she is pulled in his direction. Will he be able to convince her to give him a chance?

This was a good read with a slow build. Krissi is at school to learn and she is not interested in romance. Jeremy is in his second year and interested in Krissi. You will remember Jeremy from The Shifter Queen’s series. A cute University story, the author even gives you some of the games and stunts pulled when she was in school.

Shifting Forms for Clumsy Felines is book one in the Obscure Academy and is Krissi and Jeremy's journey. Krissi is a leopard shifter and Jeremy is a tiger shifter. From the moment Krissi meets Jeremy she feels an instant connection to him and one kiss later things take some interesting turns. This is a well written, fun, read with great characters, humor, and an amazing world in the Obscure Academy. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Leopard-shifter Krissi is perfection itself in her human form, and her performances as a cheerleader reflect it. Being in leopard form is a whole other matter. Tiger-shifter Jeremy is one of Krissi's many flatmates. When the two meet, things start sizzling. This book is a quick read, funny and sweet, ending on a good note. I highly recommend it.

This book is just so darn cute. The story has so many great characters that I so hope to read in their own stories. The friendships that are made and the relationships that are built are great. And then there is the college romance. For the two main characters they are very serious about their sport and try to be when it comes to classes. But does that leave much room for romance? Filled with all types of paranormal species that just make all the more fun.
Krissi came to Obscure Academy to study and excel at cheer. That leaves no room for boys. Her shifting leaves a lot to be desired but that can wait too. Too bad one of her flatmates is going to make her want to change all that.
I enjoyed Krissi and Jeremy’s story. Shifter romances are always fun reading, I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
