Featuring stories by an all-star lineup of creators including writers Kieron Gillen and Gerry Duggan and artist Dustin Weaver, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: AVENGERS/X-MEN #1 will lay the groundwork for an event that will erupt across the Marvel Universe in 2022 and drastically alter the relationship between Earth's Mightiest Heroes and mutantkind.
Last year's free comic for Free Comic Book Day. Basically three prequel stories in one book. A fun read, though! I have not read comics in quite a while, but they look awesome on my Kindle Fire so I may get back into reading at least a few once in a while.
A great preview. The mutants greatest secret has been revealed. There is a war coming between the Externals and the Mutants with the Avengers stuck in the middle.
A bonus preview of the up coming Bloodlines storyline staring one of my faverite characters.
I have to say I am intrigued by this event. And this teaser shows a lot of promise for the series. Like a lot of others I think I suffered from Event Fatigue when it came to comics--I always wondered if the event is 6 to 9 months long and you add a prelude month for 7 to 10 months that means there are only a few months between events. Anyway. I'm REALLY hoping this will clean up or streamline the X-verse/mutant side of things. I miss some of those characters but I have no idea what the hell is going on in those books anymore. Oh well guess we'll have to wait until July. Fingers crossed.
Wow. So, basically the main thrust of the plot is explaining the methodology of the Eternals, which is basically to kill anything and anyone who is different. The Eternals are working with the Avengers, who are somehow okay with this - even Captain America, who fought in a World War to prevent destruction of innocent people considered "deviants". As a person devoted to equality and social justice, this comic is NOT okay. Even if further issues go on to explain that the Eternals are not right, the cavalier on-panel execution of "non-normal" beings makes my skin crawl. DON'T make mine Marvel - not after this atrocity.
The use of incorrect pronouns reveals the true character of the people behind this. They will never stop trying to indoctrinate impressionable minds, because it is their true religion they ate fighting for, no matter how much damage it causes. Comics have always been overtly subversive, but they could hide behind the pretense of fighting something arbitrary or capricious before.
Now they reveal their true motivation, a war on reality itself, not merely tradition.
Perhaps the meta narrative of the liberal hivemind is the only surviving character left.
I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read all of the Gillen's Eternals work when it's collected. I liked the X-Men story too especially as I've not read too much of the Krakoa era yet and am not sick of it yet. The Blade related storyline was also interesting and it's good to see a new face in that part of the Marvel universe.

Let’s be open that Avengers vs. X-men have been done so mugh that even Marvel has realized that they gotta had a third group to getting the brand of it’s different rules then last time.
I feel that it was nice that we got some free samples as now I know what I books I might be interested in.One improvement you could make was make it clear that the next story is starting.
I loved it when I found free comics then I found myself spending more to keep me updated! Another good read with good artwork but be prepared to buy more!
