The people and creatures of Traitor’s Den are always getting into trouble. Hell, they’re supposed to. It’s the one thing I can count on to be predictable. The longer they spend in the Den, the more the spell that keeps us all here has the chance to take effect, turning us all into my Uncle Tucker’s version of cowboys and cowgirls—and he clearly had little idea about a true western community when he first condemned my parents to a life stuck in one.
Our little one-way town is always wild, definitely outrageous, and no day is ever the same as the one before it. But when Rhett Stead and Zeke Doyle tumble through the portal, throwing punches before they even land, our town’s signature wild western flavor swells a couple of notches, especially since they seem to think I’m their mate or queen or ... whatever.
Their steamy looks are enough problem to handle, and then I discover what Rhett’s been carrying around in his, um, err, goods. The secret contraband definitely does not belong in our prison world since we have no chance of escaping it. Worst of all, something big, ferocious, and fire-breathing wants what Rhett snuck in. Several somethings, in fact. And the portal just popped open again...
Hold on to your hats, ‘cause the ride just got wilder.
* A sexy fantasy western with growly shifters, sketchy vamps, peculiar mages and creatures, and one badass cowgirl sheriff. Within this small town, magic and gossip flow as freely as whiskey, and work and pleasure are nearly the same thing. Weird things happen on the regular in Traitor's Den. Come and join the quirky family, where everyone's packing. Oh, and don't mind the tiger.
* Loretta Maybelle Ray is hot stuff. When several fine cowboys vie for her affections, this series becomes a reverse harem.
* Though this series does not contain curse words, but rather a comical variation of them, it contains slow-burn romance that eventually leads to sex on the page with more than one man.
* Each book in the Six Shooter and a Shifter series is a full-length novel that ends on a cliffhanger. However, a happily-ever-after is guaranteed for the series finale.
Lucía Ashta is the internationally top 20 bestselling author of young adult, new adult, and adult paranormal and urban fantasy books, including the series Magical Creatures Academy, Witches of Gales Haven, Smoky Mountain Pack, and Supernatural Bounty Hunter.
When Lucía isn't writing, she's reading, painting, or adventuring. Magical fantasy is her favorite, but the action, romance, and quirky characters are what keep her hooked on books.
I'm still liking this series. Although I'm a little annoyed at our FMC and her double standards. I have to remind myself she's never left the cursed town, and this could be the reason for it. But still!
Anyway, moving on, I'm enjoying the steamy chemistry between her and so far the two MMCs. The attraction and her attempts to ignore it and how she tells herself...well, I have to look there to see if I can spot the egg, just makes me chuckle.
The cute ratio has increased, and I want all the cuteness, I can see their cute faces, and I want them all...so that is an extra plus. Cuteness is always a plus 🐨🐉
The book is fun, cosy, flows easily, and has spicy and smut. I can tell or hope it will be even better in the next book.
I'm pretty sure this is heading to a reverse harem situation. 2 guys claiming she is her mate & she isn't denying it. I really hate RH books! In this one Loretta finds her parents, Jony, BB, Cole, Zeke, & Rhette following her everywhere. Kind of makes it hard to be taken seriously. Who's going to respect a sheriff that is followed by her parents, mates, ex boyfriend, best friend & mom's best friend? I'm still not in love with the series. I do love the rules & quirkiness of them. No being able to say the f word & all the hilarious ways she gets around it are great! I wish Loretta would just put scope in his place. It's the one place she lacks respect for herself. And she demands it of everyone else. The dragon egg hatches. Loretta keeps doing stupid stuff that almost gets her killed. And she wonders why she gets treated like a baby.
Hold on to your britches cause this is a wild ride. Set in a Wild West world with some strange rules Lorena is the Sheriff for Traitors Den. Stuck in a town with no escape and the inability to use the F word she tries to keep the peace and catch all the people that meander through the portal if no return. The town gives you a new name, an occupation and a good old boy outfit of boots jeans, plaid and a Stetson. It also starts weaving it’s hickisms in to their vocabulary. The story is ridiculously funny and a full of crazy terminology and adventure. Growing up in a southern country town I probably giggle more the the average person but I love the quirky goofiness if this whole story.
These narrators blow me away. They have no problems jumping genres, accents and personalities. The southern podunk towns accents show their true talent and capability to tackle any project.
When the Sun Burns by Lucia Asthma is Book 2 in the Six Shooter and a Shifter series. An exceptionally well written, action packed, page turning thrill ride that is unique with fantastic characters with interesting personalities. Loretta (the sheriff), Rhett (dragon shifter), Zeke (vampire), Lo's parents (bear shifter and witch) are the MCs along with some very interesting supporting characters. They are trapped in a funky old western town with funny names and can't say curse words which makes for laugh outloud moments. The world building is awesome. Now that the dragon egg has hatched everything has gotten more intense and exciting as the outside dragon wants her baby back. Love this book and series and can't wait for more. I highly recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
This is an incredible second book! We are back in Traitor’s Den where it’s wild and a little unpredictable and the residents can be counted on to get into trouble but hold onto your cowboy hats cause more troubles coming as the portal opens. Once you arrive you cannot leave thanks to the magic that makes it a one way journey and you have a wide range of supernatural beings / creatures now stuck. With a badass, kick ass sheriff whose one hell of a character , the whiskey flows freely, the characters are likeable and fun and the storyline is once again exciting, entertaining and our slow burn romance gets hotter. It’s a fantastic addition to this series and I look forward to seeing what comes next!
“When the Sun Burns” is book two in Lucia Ashta’s Six Shooter and a Shifter series. This picks up shortly after the events at the end of book one When the Moon Shines.
Even though I have read book one I still continue to laugh and giggle at the way the Denners abilities to not be able to use the F word. The substitutes are so hilarious, that I may even start using a few in my day to day life lol.
What I love the most about this series is that each and every character have their own unique quality and craziness to Traitors Den.
If you are looking for a fun, quirky, hilariously funny series than this is the one for you. The Denners will have you laughing so hard with their crazy antics and quick witted remarks.
So put on your boots and hold on to your hat for a peculiar read.
I had so much fun reading this book, the world and the characters are so original, crazy and funny, I love them all!!! 🤗🥰 Of course this book is so much interesting and intriguing now, with the two new hot Denners and all the mess they are creating with Lo and the baby dragon 😁 I laughed so hard, I had to re read some of the dialogues, since the Denners have a very peculiar and funny language 😂 And now with the dragons, dragon shifters, the damn uncle who started all of this, and Lo's new magic, the story is getting even better! 😯... can't wait to read the next book in this fantastic series!!! 😍❤️
There are honestly too many characters to adore and grow attached to in Traitors Den.
Yay! Loretta survived book one with a few scars to tell the story and a heapload of not her own magic. Oh and those inital two troublemakers, Zeke and Rhett, they're calling her their Queen and Mate. No big deal.
Cole is convinced Loretta Belongs to him *hard pass, sir*. And Birdie is in the doghouse for being a bad friend.
The trouble from book one seems like a snowball rolling down a mountain at this point because while we might be stuck in a Portal pocket never to escape, trouble keeps coming.
Now another person comes through the portal, intent on killing Loretta (thats a no-go). Sent by a horde of people* that used to led by Rhett.
When he doesn't return, Traitors Den has to anticipate a whole battle that they may not walk away from.
Sheriff Loretta may be trapped in a parallel dimension with a vampire and a dragon shifter, as well as her parents, best friends and a town full of screw ball paranormals. But, her life is about to get even more interesting, when the dragon shifter's egg hatches and the dragon on the other side of the portal wants it back.... Since noone can leave the portal, noone can explain how they can't really give the egg back either.
This story is incredibly unique and the world-building is entertaining. Especially the tiniest details, like all of the character's inability to say the F-Word or how everyone has names pulled from the cheesiest of wild, wild west films. I have enjoyed hopping into the portal with Loretta and the gang- probably because, unlike them, I can actually leave-and can't wait for the next installment.
This series is my newest book obsession! It’s wild, quirky and charming with an irresistible (and delicious) romantic build. Loretta is hilarious and I love her direct, no-nonsense attitude. Traitor’s Den is full of colorful characters and creates a hometown feel for the reader. Everything I loved about the first book was delivered in double and I easily found myself making excuses to read just one more chapter. I loved the unpredictable storyline, schmexy MCs, everything Loretta and all the laughs. I can’t wait for the next book!
You might think Traitors Den has problems enough; a small pocket dimension that changes your name when you arrive and does not allow you to leave, however, there is always room for more trouble. In this case, it takes the form of Dragon Shifters who are not happy with the whole dragon egg situation and aim to rectify it to their satisfaction. Want to find out how it all ends? Read the book, you wont regret it.
This series will take you on one hell of a ride! The denizens of this town that they are trapped in are so much fun to read about. The main characters are wonderful and the story is fun and interesting. I must admit I am sad as heck with that ending and hope there is some mysterious magic that will counteract what happened, sorry dear readers, you are going to have to read this wonderful story to understand what I'm talking about! Happy reading everyone
loving this series action packed, exciting and fun
This is the second in the series and it ends on an exciting cliffhanger. The egg has hatched and has accepted Loretta as his momma. The bad dragons are coming to end Loretta but Zeke and Rhett have something to say about that. Finally Loretta admits she wants both Rhett and Zeke. Such an exciting story I can’t wait to read the next. Thank goodness they’re all out now so I can start book 3. Loving this series.
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the second part of the Six Shooters and a Shifter series, the books should be read in order. OMG, what a magically wild west action story. I simply love the writing style, the very different characters, the unique and unpredictable storyline and of course the hot moments. I truly recommend everyone to dive into this crazy story.
I love this world. I don't need sex n drool and potential reverse harem vibes, but the rest of the story outshines that other stuff. I don't exactly know what happened at the end, but I am so very thankful I can start reading book 3 to find out! This tale kept me engaged and turning the page to see what was happening next.
The story continues with Lo and her town af rebels. I really want to stop and write a review worthy of this book but I can't. Not that I don't want to, it's the fact that I really REALLY need to get my arse into book 3! This series is freaking awesome! So hurry up and get the next one like I have.
Man these books just burn right through the story. After Rhett and Zeke arrived in town with a dragon egg there’s been nothing but trouble. Loretta’s once, semi, predictable life if full of mischief and mayhem. And a visit from the tormentor himself. Also. What a way to end. Definitely leaves you in a moment of action left unfinished.
This series. This series is so so so much fun. I love the magic infused semi-Western town Loretta and the gang are trapped in. The first book introduced an amazing cast of characters and then two very hot, mysterious (and somewhat irritating) newcomers… this book added dragons into the mix, and let me tell you, I am HERE for it. Tension of all kinds was ramped up a notch… Lucia Ashton, that one scene… 🔥🔥🔥… I was as devastated as Loretta for the interruption! And to see Loretta leaning into who she truly is and can become by the end… I can’t wait to see what happens in book three. I am absolutely ADDICTED to this series!!!
I love this series and it makes me laugh with the western humor and theme. I read one of these on vella and i’m glad i get to read more. I love Lo and all the people of the town. This one has to do with Dragon Shifters and it’s a different but great read.
No cliffhangers allowed. Jeez I nearly screamed aloud at the ending. I hate cliffhangers sometimes even though it's how you know a book is good if you're that invested in it.
So good. I absolutely love the Western slang and Interaction. It's halarious yet keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait to see what happens next to Lo and that gang in Traitors Den. Can't wait to get to book 3!!
These books are funny and original, but they are written as cliffhangers. I totally resent that kind of manipulation. I'll finish this series but not read anything else she writes.
This story, this entire series is friggin-flipity-floop-flup fantastic 😉 (If you've read any of these books you understand the weird made up word) each book is better than the last! I love it!!!!!
This is an awesome series can't put the books down. The action, love, and everything in between makes this series keep you reading to find out what's going to happen. I recommend to all.
This whole series is kinda out of left field bizarre, it's not like anything I've read before. Book 1 & 2 held my attention enough to finish & move on to book 3. It's definitely not something I would normally read though.
Things are heating g up in Traitor's Den, and not just because Loretta has 2 men after her! An accidental fire sets of a huge chain reaction of events that just keep getting worse. And then an unexpected visitor drops in through the portal!
I am enjoying the way life and magic is changing for Loretta. Wondering if she will become a dragon. Need to see her get with her mates. The descriptions in this series are so vivid you can see the action and story unfold!!
Okay, this book was good. I love the humor in it. The female character is a blast. I love her Spunk and Courage. And the Willingness to fight for her man and girl power. This is a must-read.
