When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. At least, he's not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

It was Rhys who saved Feyre.
It was only Rhys who bet on her that she will win.
It was Rhys who believed in her.
It was Rhys who kept her alive.
It was Rhys who helped her in the trial.
It was Rhys who saved her from Amarantha's wrath.
It was Rhys who sent that music to Feyre and showed her night court through it and kept her sanity intact.
It was Rhys who fought against Amarantha to save her.
Rhys was there for her the moment she crossed the wall and saved her everytime he could.

It was always Rhysand. Always.

Oh my gosh!! Here I thought I loved Part 1, but Part 2 is so much better. Is there any way I could rate this more than five stars?👀

In Part 1 we follow Feyre in the Spring Court and Part 2 is set in Under the Mountain where we see Feyre's trials. The cinematic music, the narration and of course the plot is all ramped up!! Being more action packed, I was slightly nervous on how the graphic audio will manage that but it's executed brilliantly.

The cast captures the emotions and personalities of the characters amazingly. There wasn't much of Tamlin in Part 2, but the voice actors for Feyre, Rhysand and Amarantha were so so good 🤌 You feel what Feyre is feeling, you hear the conflicting thoughts that drive Rhysand, and the sheer evilness of Amarantha. Honestly, I can't wait to reread the books as well.

I highly recommend the graphic audiobook. Also, can't wait to check ACOMAF out!

"I didn't want you to fight alone. Or die alone."

I am loving these graphic audio books so much!
PART 2 Highlights were definitely Feyre fighting the Wrym and every single scene with Rhysand of course!!! Loved the music that was sent to her cell and Amarantha was AMAZING! Perfect casting for her part. She was giving Susan Sarandon in my mind!
Can't wait to start Mist and Fury!!! 💙💙💙

✅ Beauty and the Beast retelling
✅ Strong main character
✅ Lucien and Rhys
✅ Action
✅ Captivity & horrible villain
✅ Romance
✅ Hate to love
✅ Fake-out make-out
✅ Magic and faes
✅ Great world-building
❗️❗️ Trigger warnings: torture, murder, mild gore, imprisonment, use of alcohol, and kind of emotional abuse

**Even if this second part only covers what happens Under the Mountain, the review is for the whole book

Fifth read/listen: The dramatized adaptation is truly a work of art. ❤️❤️❤️

This second half of the book emphasizes how useless Tam-tam was, and how Feyre, Rhys, and even Lucien carried the plot. Now I am going to happily re-listen to the dramatized adaptation of ACOMAF 🤩🤩

_______________________

This series is one of my all-time favorites. ❤️

The first part of the book is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a fae twist. After Feyre killed a fae in the woods while hunting, she has to yield her life to Prythian, the fae lands, in retribution. She is forced to go live with Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court. Feyre hates faes, but of course, she ends up falling in love with Tamlin (even though Lucien is so much more interesting 🙄). She realizes that the faes in Prythian are the victims of a curse, but no one can explain to her clearly what the curse is, or how to break it. Eventually, Feyre will have to choose between going back to her quiet and peaceful human life or risking her life to break the curse and save the faes of Prythian.

"So," he said wearily, “here we are, with the fate of our immortal world in the hands of an illiterate human.”

This is more than a Beauty and the Beast retelling. There are twists and turns, many interesting and great characters, and a roller-coaster of emotions and you end up with an amazing book! 😍

I’d long since given up hope of them actually noticing whether I came back from the woods every evening. At least until they got hungry again.

The first part of the book is more about getting acquainted with Feyre and her family. She has been responsible for the survival of her family for the last 5 years, and they have been ungrateful and even cruel to her. I was so angry with Nesta and even Elain, that I wanted to slap some sense into them… Ungrateful spoiled brats. 😤

"Lucien," my captor said quietly, the name echoing with a hint of a snarl. "Behave."
Lucien went rigid, but he hopped off the edge of the table and bowed deeply to me."My apologies, lady." Another joke at my expense. "I'm Lucien. Courtier and emissary." He gestured to me with a flourish. "Your eyes are like stars, and your hair is like burnished gold."

“I might die of surprise,” Lucien said behind me. “You made a joke, Feyre.”

Then, we get to know Tamlin and Lucien when Feyre travels to the Spring Court. From that point, there was never a dull moment. Between Lucien’s sarcasm and Feyre’s temper (and Tamlin’s unending growling). I laughed out loud a few times; I loved their banter so much, and the relationship development between Feyre and the faes is very well written.

There is more action and more important developments in the last third of the book. It sets a different pace as we start to move away from the traditional Beauty and the Beast retelling and go more into the unique world and plot that make up the rest of the series.

The world-building is great, as are the characters (especially Rhysand and Lucien ❤️). I like how the human realm is set completely apart from the fae realm, even though they share a border. They have no contact with each other, yet they are only separated by a wall and their mutual hatred for the other race. Humans hate faes because they used to have human slaves hundreds of years ago until they signed a peace treaty and released all their slaves. Faes either don’t care about humans or they find them inferior and are still angry that they can’t keep them as slaves anymore.

I found him carefully studying me, his lips in a thin line. “Has anyone ever taken care of you?” he asked quietly.
“No.” I’d long since stopped feeling sorry for myself about it.

“Don't feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy.”

Feyre is a good main character in this book, but I know she will be even better in the next books. I admire her determination and her resiliency, but at times she made some stupid or naive decisions, although I can understand why she behaved the way she did. I saw how she ended up having a foot in each world, and how she is trying to define herself now that she finally has some time for herself and now that she doesn't have the responsibility of taking care of and feeding her whole family. I also really enjoyed discovering the different fae courts and how the High Lords all have certain affinities, and I am eager to see how it is developed further in the next book.

Tamlin is not that bad for now, but he does already display controlling and condescending behaviors near the middle and the end of the book, and I know what’s coming in ACOMAF. Writing this review after my second time reading this series means that I am not 100% objective, but I think my main issue with him in this book is how boring he is compared to other males. There is some sexual tension between Feyre and him, but he seems to lack true depth, and when push comes to shove, he is not willing to put his neck on the line to help Feyre, and is rather useless in the last part of the book (in my opinion, my apologies to all the Tam-fans out there).

“Do you ever stop being so serious and dull?"
"Do you ever stop being such a prick?" I snapped back.
Dead—really, truly, I should have been dead for that.
But Lucien grinned at me. "Much better.”

It took me a long while to realize that Rhysand, whether he knew it or not, had effectively kept me from shattering completely.

My two favorite characters are, without a doubt, Lucien and Rhysand. I do have a thing for feisty and sarcastic characters with long red hair, and mysterious, morally grey males with a soft side. I loved Lucien from the very first time he appeared in the story, and I fell in love with Rhysand during Feyre’s time under the mountain.

So yeah... I am IN LOVE with this book. And with Rhysand. And with Lucien. 😍
You have to read this series. It’s probably my all-time favorite.

5 "The Answer is Love" Stars ⭐️

This is my "first" reread of ACOTAR and I thought based on SK's❤️ amazing review on this....I NEEDED THIS EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE.

Part 2 is SOOO MUCH BETTER than part one! And I might be biased because this part has so much more of that purring voice in my ears... BUT I SWEAR every time I heard that lazy drawl of footsteps of Rhysand approaching, my inner voice squealed with delight.

If you choose to read/reread ACOTAR through AUDIO pick this up!!!! It really is a movie in your ears and I cannot recommend this experience MORE even if I had to deal with Tamlin panting to completion, this was still AMAZING)

I cannot wait to start Book 2's Experience!

5 stars for part 2. Rhysand. 🥰 That’s all I’m gonna say about this part. Oh, and the kissy sounds sure take some getting used to. (This is my first GraphicAudio production that has some action…)

4 stars for part 1. The GraphicAudio production is amazing as ever and it's always fun to experience beloved series this way. However, the source material doesn’t involve much dialogue which lessened my enjoyment somewhat. I also forgot how slow the first half of this book is… Thankfully, we do get a glimpse of Rhysand at Calanmai at the end of this part. I was kind of nervous we wouldn’t.

5 STARS!

OK I starting to understand the Rhys hype. Though he did Feyre for a week straight. He has the tortured-soul/the-end-justify-the-means down pat I'll give him that. He did have a few moments that made me lowkey feel for him. He also did justify some of his actions and helped out in ways that he didn't have to do so. Why do I like him better than Tamlin though? 🥺

I'm also facing a conundrum. Maybe it's something that I read on social media about Tamlin that's coloring my perception of him but I lowkey couldn't care less about him if I tried. He's giving off a very weird vibe. It's making me nauseous and I don't know why. Frankly, it's a miracle that I haven't read/come across any spoilers for this series considering how popular is it.

Part 2 is even better than part 1! I found myself looking forward to the up coming scenes. I feel like people should read the books first before listening to the dramatized version. That was you can just enjoy the story and not worry about all the fine details.

Narration type: Full Cast Duet Narration – Dramatized Adaptation

The heroine: Feyre (sounds like Fey-ra) - she is a nineteen-year-old human girl, who came to the Faerie world of Prythian after she killed a fae that was disguised as a wolf. Another Fae, Tamsin, came to her and told her that the treaty between the humans and the fae required a life for a life. She could have chosen to die, or to live with him and she chose to go with him. Though since she has been there, she has learned a lot about the fae world. She also learned that she wasn’t to be a slave and since she arrived, she has been living like a member of the spring court.

The Hero: Tamlin - he is high fae, a merciless warrior with great magic and one of the high lords of Prythian. There was a blight and a curse on Prythian and many of the residents had already left. The curse on the spring court has he fae always in masks that they could not remove except when they are in their beast forms. Tamlin has a lot of secrets and is responsible for a lot of people in his district. He is the only one with the kind of magic that can kill some of the dangerous beasts that have been coming on to his lands since the blight began. The blight had been slowly growing towards the land of the spring court and would eventually make its way to the human world.

The Story: Feyre doesn’t know all of the secrets that the fae hold. Though she learns as much as she can by questioning everything and sometimes by listening to conversations that aren’t meant for her ears. Feyre is starting to have feelings for Tamlin, though she doesn’t yet want to acknowledge them. In the previous book Tamlin was involved in a fire ceremony which ended in him going into a cave to ravish several fae women. Feyre hopes that nothing like that happens again.

So far, I have really been enjoying this story. The dramatized adaptation for some reason splits each book into two parts. I am not sure why since they are only about 6 hours each and plenty of audiobooks are 20+ hours. Probably just a way to make more money. Anyway, I have loved the narration. The story is good, and I am glad that this part has a bit more romance and steam.

Regarding Tamsin’s secrets, I went into this book, hoping to find out the reason he really brought Feyre with him to Prythian, because I know that it was for more than just the fact that she broke the treaty by killing the wolf. Also, I wanted to know who the woman was that everyone was so afraid of, the one that ripped the wings off the blue faerie. The story came through and gave me those answers. It also went to places I wasn’t expecting and ended up getting much more thrilling and suspenseful. It had some great supporting characters, though I had hoped there would be more interactions between Feyre and Tamlin.

Feyre’s relationship with Rhysand confused me quite a bit. She obviously hated him when she first met him and throughout most of this book, but he kept inserting himself into her life, and he believed in her abilities and helped her. Rhysand was high lord of the night court, and was known to be under the thumb of Amarantha. So he always seemed to have ulterior motives. After Feyre makes a deal with him, she still hates him, but is also connected to him, it creates issues that I wasn’t expecting from a romance like this.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in full cast duet narration. Performed by Melody Muze, Henry W. Kramer, Gabriel Michael, Natalie Van Sistine, Debi Tinsley, Bradley Foster Smith, Alejandro Ruiz, Christopher Graybill, Julie Hoverson, Karenna Foley, Eric Messner, Anthony Palmini, Steve Wannall, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Mort Shelby, Laura C. Harris, Michael John Casey, Scott McCormick, Richard Rohan, Karen Novack, Nora Achrati, and Nanette Savard. The first thing the book says is “Graphic Audio: A movie in your mind” and all I can say is that is exactly what this is.

Yeeeeeeeeep. Still a Rhys stan through and through 🦇

This second part of the Dramatized Adaptation IS what I truly loved at my first read and giving voice to it was an amazing experience.
Knowing what is coming next and the motives behind their actions really put a grip on my heart during the trials and that little farewell scene on the balcony 🥹🖤

I love Feyre, I do. But in this book she's still naive, even if so mentally strong nonetheless.
Anyway in appearance order my favourites in this book are: Lucien and Rhys. There, that's all I have to say.

"A movie in your head", you got that right.
I felt way more listening to this than I did reading it. I hate that I love Tampon's voice and his growls more than I do Rhys's. And I'm praying to all that is holy that the rest of the inner circle's voices (daddy Azzy🤞) will hit the spot just right for me in the next books.
