A case they’ll never forget… if only they can remember.
Professor Croft here, partnered once again with the gambling, spell-slinging James Wesson.
Four Grimstone teens are dead, the life seemingly vacuumed from their withered bodies. The lone clue, a magic residue in their blood. Convinced it’s the work of a supernatural drug, Sheriff Jackson entrusts the case to us while she’s away. I just need to keep my junior partner in line.
Suddenly it’s the next morning, and we’re hungover, absent our magical items, and with no memory of the last twelve hours. Were we drugged? James keeps bringing up some movie, but I’m desperately trying to piece together what happened. Because the more we discover about our wild night, the less innocent we seem. And the deputy is missing.
Can we undo the damage, find the deputy, and crack the case before Sheriff Jackson returns to town?
Or will the wizard duo of Croft and Wesson become Grimstone’s next outlaws?
Croft & Wesson is a spinoff of the Prof Croft series (set after Book 4) but stands on its own. If you like buddy wizards, occult mysteries, and wild spell-slinging in one of the Wilder Wests around, you’ll love Croft & Wesson!
Brad Magnarella writes urban fantasy for the same reason most read it – to explore worlds where magic crackles from fingertips, vampires and shifters walk city streets, cats talk (some excessively), and good prevails against all odds. It’s shamelessly fun.
His three main series, Prof Croft, Blue Wolf, and Maddy Deeds, make up the growing Croftverse, with nearly a half-million books sold to date and an Independent Audiobook Award nomination.
Hopelessly nomadic, Brad can be found in a rented room overseas or hiking America's backcountry.

Grimstone Hangover (Croft & Wesson #2) by Brad Magnarella This is book two and quite a hoot! Teens are being murdered and Croft and his assistant decides to find out what's going on. They wake up without knowing what happened but get put in jail. They have to go backwards to figure out what happened and find their missing friend. Fun and crazy!
I loved that they had to reconstruct what they did during their lost 12 hours and that each finding is more horrifying than the previous one *laughs* Seriously, between trying to find the missing police officer (who they should be guarding!), pay the promise made in the last book to the witch, and deal with a divorce, they still need to solve the actual case. Not an easy task, not at all *dies laughing*
Lots of banter and action in the weirdest (and yet perfectly functional) partnership you could imagine. Well worthy of your time.
This book is a great read!! I LOVED it!! I loved the first one too but THIS ONE!! it was a SUPER FUN adventure. We get to see the fun side of Prof. Croft. He's usually so serious but not AS much in this wonder filled book. He goes back out west to help out his mentee James Wesson and the Sheriff of Grimstone, to determine what has killed 4 teenagers in a corn patch and left them dried up mummies. They don't get very far into their investigation before Croft and Wesson are thrown for a loop and end up with no memory of the insane antics they got themselves into or the location of the deputy who was keeping an eye on them in a hugely failed attempt to keep them out of trouble . They come to in a jail cell that Croft had specifically warded to keep whatever they were after locked up tight. They are beat up with none of their belongings, the cell is trashed with burn marks all around them on every surface, beer cans everywhere ,Wesson's dog is asleep under a cot and no sign of the deputy. WELL, that's just ch. 2!!! The action ramps up exponentially from there!! There's a werebat man!!! ahahaaha and he's a gangster!! Wessons' biggest frenemy Tjalfa gets thrown in the antics and they discover they're BOTH MARRIED to the bar waitress from book 1 that caused them SO MUCH trouble. In addition to all the insane fun in this book there is also an exciting mystery or 3 or 5 too!! And if you thought the werebatman mobster was fearsome wait til you meet the "bad guy" who is responsible for making mummies out of the teenagers!! Neutralizing that was a white knuckle, heart RACING thrill ride!! That thing is SOMETHING ELSE!! The author is REALLY REALLY great at creating some crazy scary monster types and amping up the FEAR FACTOR in his readers.
Ever had one of those nights you just can't remember? You know the ones, you wake up in the morning, somewhere you didn't expect to be and don't remember a thing for the last 10 hours?
This is where Croft and Wesson find themselves - but unlike you or I, they may be in a bit of trouble, felony level trouble to be exact. And they may be in a prison cell with one of Croft's best and strongest wards keeping them in there. And, they may just have lost the police officer who is supposed to be keeping an eye on them for the sheriff.
The boys need to backtrack and find out what they did, who they did it to and most importantly, who did what to them.
We step straight into the action with this one. A beautifully written story which actively pulls you along with it. I found it unputdownable and finished reading it in one session. Who needs sleep anyway?
𝑮𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓, Croft & Wesson, Book #2 by Brad Magnarella
Another fun entry in this spin-off of the Prof Croft series. Croft is once again sent to Arizona, this time to help Wesson and the local constabulary in a case involving 3 dead teenagers. The action is non-stop from the beginning, with plenty of twists and turns, suspects, supernatural beings, and complications that could have been, but weren't, avoided. It all makes for a fun read.
I only made on note (at 1636 on my Kindle Fire) that involved a sentence that didn't quite make sense to me, but probably wouldn't have bothered anyone else, so I decided to just skip it! So, the editing and proofing were good, the pacing and flow excellent, the characters fully fleshed (and hilarious), and the plot was fun to unravel.
I loved it! Croft and Wesson were the two characters that brought me into the Magnarella universe. I encountered the pair in a collection of stories on Kindle, some of which were good, most were forgettable, a couple were truly awful, but the first Grimstone story was absolutely wonderful. In my opinion Grimstone Hangover is one of the best tales in the Magnarella collection, both because of the interplay of the two main characters, and because they are able to accomplish so much without resorting to their magic. The polyandrous marriage is particularly amusing. The town, and its denizens, is the perfect breeding ground for more stories, or even a new series of novels. I know, dude, lots of extra work for the author, but I remain hopeful.
There's something wonderful about a side adventure with established characters but without the baggage of their main series. Prof Croft is out of the city and away from all of the complications of his life to help Wesson solve the mysterious deaths of 4 teens where clearly there's magic involved. Easy, right? Not so much as our heroes wake the next morning unaware of what happened the night before. On a strict deadline, they have to retrace their steps on an ever more complicated path on magical mischief. This is a fun, fast moving mystery full of crazy characters and a surprising amount of emotional growth for our heroes. I can't wait to see what they get up to next time.
Another will written fantasy world 🌎 haunting horror ghost 👻 demon adventure thriller novel by Brad Magnaella (Croft and Wesson book 2). Croft is back in Grimstone too help Wesson investigate a case from the sheriff while she is away. But everything seems to go wrong the minute she leaves. They have too put the case back together before they come to a successful conclusion. I would highly recommend this two book series and author to 👍 paranormal mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to books 📚. 2022 😮👒😀 These are the first two books by this author but not the last. Happy Thanksgiving.
I love Croft and Wesson together. You never know what they will get up to. This started out fairly simple, a case loosely related to their last adventure. Nothing ever stays simple though. Imps, witches, banks, and other characters from their last adventure, plus memory loss, these two really know how to up their shenanigans to the next level. Twists and turns, fun banter, and magic galore, this was a fun ride. I can't wait to see them again! Grimstone is so much fun to visit!
While this saga certainly has a lot of mystery and tense action scenes, it also has a lot of humor. The comic relief is very welcomed and helps take the edge off the seriousness of a paranormal mystery story. Brad is clearly in his prime with this series.
I started reading Brad in his Blue Wolf series, then jumped over to the professor Croft series. These side excursions show the hero in a different role and different facets of his character, rounding him out and making him more realistic.
I like these books a lot, the Prof is funny and James is an idiot but they work well together. This book made me laugh and want to slap James at the same time. The Sheriff wants them to look into some strange deaths, they end up locked in a warded cell off their heads with a weird drug. They also get up to some stupid stuff and lose an officer of the law that was supposed to keep an eye on them. Well worth five stars.
Combine this with the previous book and you almost have dumb and dumber.
I say almost because the extra characters were interesting (somewhat) the amount of sexism, fat-shaming, and stupid dude-isms were hard to take. A few times I almost took the "chicken exit", but lasted and I'm glad. At least I know that I have the stamina.
Now even Tabbie sounds good. 🫣

It's not Croft at his best, but it is Croft at perhaps his funniest. It's a much more light hearted tale with enough action to keep it going. My only complaint was that the final boss battle, so to speak, felt a bit anticlimactic, but I guess this one was more about the journey than the destination.
Croft and Wesson make a great team. I love the way they get into a situation and find a way to resolve it. I can’t believe they both married the same woman. The were a thrupple. In the end they solved the case. The cuddle fest was a great touch! Throughly enjoyed reading about their adventures.
I've been waiting for a new Croft and Wesson book the Wizard duo is awesome, in this one they get dosed with something and they don't remember how they got things to where they ended up Lol funny and short and a good read looking forward to the next one I'm really liking the town of Grimstone and all it's inhabitants and the things that happen there.
What a crazy night they had and then they still had to figure out what to do about the dead kids. But that was not the only case they had to work through. And not being able to remember the whole night, not helping. Somehow things got done and they survived. And the Sheriff didn't shoot them.
Just when you think Croft and Wesson couldn't get things any more mixed up, they go ahead and prove you wrong. Funny, action packed and not what you usually expect. Definitely a good time
Not your typical Croft story. It's a tongue in cheek magical version of "The Hangover". Croft and Wesson are looking for the cause for the death of 4 young drug users. They wake up in a magically sealed jail cell, all beaten up, with no memory of the previous 12 hours
Was this story one of the first ones written by this author? Sentence structure penned like a high schooler, awkward segues, awkward situations, and sloppy transitions. Author is better than this story.
... and then forget everything they've done! A delightful romp where a case involving 4 dead teenagers turns into a case of forgotten tasks including a wedding. Magnarella has another hit!
Once again Brad Magnarella weaves a fantastic tale of a few magic users that mix with non magic users..it’s fun and adventure mixed into a magical romp. Come join the fun!
I was not sure what to expect this time, after their last adventure but it was great. It was exciting through the entire story! I cannot wait for the next adventure!!
They took me on another merry go round but I loved, From beginning to end I was laughing Even at the parts that weren't supposed to be funny. Thank you Mr. Magnarella for another entertaining read.
ANOTHER great Prof Croft adventure! I'm reading all the book back-to-back and it's just fantastic! Because I don't have to leave this world! So well written, Brad Magnarella is divine! I can't wait to finish this series....well, sorta...cos then it would mean I was done. And that will make me sad!
The author decides we need to understand the effects of certain native hallucinogens, LoL. Boy does he take us on one wild ride. The crazy he puts the POVs thru will leave you in stitches and how he resolves those escapades is almost as nutty getting into them.
Sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do. Croft and Wesson will do what it takes to solve the case... even when things get combletly out of hand.
