Pool party, bake sale, lunch-box treat -- PAULA DEEN has a recipe for every school occasion.
From the bestselling team that brought you Paula Deen's My First Cookbook comes a cookbook for the busiest families. When the school and work days end, what better way to connect with your family than by cooking in the kitchen? And when the school bake sale calls for volunteers or you need ideas for your sleepover party, Paula Deen's Cookbook for the Lunch-Box Set has the simplest, most delicious recipes for the fun activities that happen all school year long.
Paula Deen (born Paula Ann Hiers) is an American cook, restaurateur, author, actress and Emmy Award-winning television personality.
Deen resides in Savannah, Georgia, where she owns and operates The Lady & Sons restaurant with her sons, Jamie and Bobby Deen. She has also published five cookbooks. Though married in 2004 to Michael Anthony Groover, she continues to use the surname Deen from her first marriage professionally.
I don't normally review the cookbooks I read, but I think this one is such a gem. It has spiral binding inside a hardcover, a must for any cookbook. There are illustrations accompanying the ingredient and utensil lists and great advice on table manners and cooking written in Deen's exuberant style. Includes some of her classic recipes, like her meatloaf, so the kids can make a full blown meal, but there is some simpler fare included too.
If you like to cook with your kids, this is a great book!
Not necessarily the healthiest recipes, but fun. Would be great for a sleepover or a kids cooking party. Ingredients are shown by picture, but you definitely have to be able to read to follow the instructions.
Nice illustrations and clear instructions, but I think some of these recipes may be a bit too complicated for kids under 12. The recipes look delicious, however, and I'd love to use this book to make a tween my cooking slave!
