The Taori warrior is mad with mating fever—and he’s decided I’m his.

I almost escaped from the alien’s twisted hunting moon. Until the Taori warrior snatched me away, convinced that he was saving me from a menacing swarm that only appears in his dark and tortured memories. Now I’m stuck with him on the deadly moon that’s crawling with mercenaries who have one goal--to kill us.

If I want to stay alive, I need to stay in the Taori’s underground lair, which wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t burning with mating fever and eyeing me like I’m a tasty snack. The longer he fights it, the more manic he’ll get until he might be as dangerous to me as the hunters prowling the surface.

Do I give in to the battle-scarred alien’s dominant and possessive desires, or do I take my chances with the alien hunters who wish to hunt me for sport?

STALK is a full-length sci-fi romance novel with an HEA and no cheating. It features steamy scenes on an alien, hunting moon, deadly battles, and some serious alien mating fever.

If you like dominant and dangerous alien warriors, alien abduction to seduction romance, and hot scenes with a happily ever after, you’ll love STALK, the second book in Tana Stone’s sci-fi romance series The Sky Clan of the Taori.

I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.

I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!

The warrior’s frenzy!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💜🩷💙💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️😍😋😀
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The Hero: Daiken - he is from a race of warriors called the immortal sky clan of the Taori. He was aboard his spaceship away from his home world fighting their enemies when he went into the mating heat early. The mating heat usually affected males of his race every ten years, but they didn’t expect it and couldn’t find a pleasure planet where he could get what he needed. The doctor had to keep him unconscious because he would go crazy otherwise. Then the ship went through a temporal wormhole. They went 500 years into the future and the ship was taken down and he was put in an escape pod and woke up on. A strange moon.

The heroine: Valeria - she was a scientist for the federation. Her ship was captured by space pirates and she and the other females on board were sold to the Xulonians. The Xulonians were a hedonistic race that thought they were above every other race in the universe. They held reality games on their different moons. One was for pleasure; one was for hunting and who knows what else they had. Val was put on the hunting moon where Xulonians sat in their homes and used avatar bodies to hunt other races.

Val hurt her ankle and couldn’t walk. She was on the moon with Lia, who helped her by finding a cave. However, Lia had to leave the cave and when Val heard voices outside, she did her best to move to the back of the cave. That was when she bumped into Daiken, who put his hand over her mouth and pulled her further into a passageway in the cave. He promised not to hurt her, but when he started going crazy from the mating frenzy, he decided it was better to get away from Val than to lose his honor by possibly hurting her or doing something against her will.

Daiken was definitely going crazy. Right when the rest of the captives on the hunting moon were about to escape, he was sure that a swarm of his enemies was coming, so he knocked Val out and took her to the other side of the moon, deep in the underground caves. I liked the fact that the two main characters were stuck on the moon together after all the others escaped. there’s so much tension, drama, and layered dynamics between Daiken and Valeria! I love how the setup forces them into a precarious balance of survival, mistrust, and undeniable attraction. The concept of the Xulonians and their twisted hunting games was fascinating and adds an extra layer of danger. The one thing I didn’t like was how stupid Valeria was. She kept running away from Draiken and every time she ended in more danger.

The story spoke to my love for high-stakes adventure and morally complex situations—there’s rebellion, survival, and that ever-present cosmic grandeur. This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Marcio Catalano and Aubrey Vincent. Marcio has a soft, deep voice which I like quite a bit. Aubrey Vincent doesn’t have one of my favorite voices, but she is very expressive and does a great job. I love the duet narration, and both are good at doing different voices for different characters. Marcio Catalano’s deep voice must have added a weighty presence to Daiken’s intensity.

Daiken and Valeria's story is so good. We already knew Daiken since he os the Taori warriors that went INTO the fever first. He is also a super warriors and even in the high poibt in the fever he manager to do all the impossibles. Also... I love his dirty talk! Valeria in book 1 of the Taori seams very frail and scared but looks can be decieving! Amazing boi as always by Tana Stone. Can't wait for the Next warriors and to know more if the other moons.

What happens next?

Another great read from Tana. This starts off where the first one ended. You can't help but feel sorry for Daiken and how the fever is affecting him. Valeria is in for a wild ride and a self growing experience. I loved the twist at the end of the book with Gri-Gri.

I have been on a Sci Fi binge and at the moment that is Tana Stone's work. Each series I have read get better and better. I love that anything goes when reading sci fi and that is what Tana gives readers. The Sky Clan of the Taori is a steamy sci fi romance series as are her other series. We met the Taori briefly in another of her series. In this book, the Taori hot and sexy alpha alien men travelling across galaxies to fight an evil that has been around for hundreds of years. However, they are pulled in time and place hundreds of years in the future. What they find is others in need of help or they die. I really like Tana's writing and her characters are totally believable. There is fun, action and so much more between the pages.
If you are a lover of sci fi with sexy aliens and hot romance you will love Tana's work.

The Sky Clan of the Taori is an alien romance series that follows the immortal army of Taori. A Taori is an alien species plagued with a mating fever called the Quaibyn that takes place every 10 years. If the fever goes unquenched, the Taori goes insane, becoming Sythians, which is the very plaque that the brothers of the sky clan are hunting. The Taori are horned aliens with the skin tone of humans, but covered in dark tribal-lil tattoos that detail their destinies. They have dark hair, colored eyes, ram-like horns and tails. They turn into Sythians when they go crazy from the Quaibyn, which are dragon-like creatures. At least, I think they do, if I read the details correctly. It was rather confusing. Anyway, the sky clan winds up flying through a time portal in space that puts them four hundred years into the future in Earth’s galaxy. Their ship is attacked and blown from the sky by a species called the Xulonians. The Xulonians are a weak, paranoid species that avoids interaction with other species, secluding themselves to their dying planet. They mined their own planet until it became unable to sustain a pleasant life, and the wealthiest of their species escape by the means of entertainment. Most of the Taori boarded escape pods and fled the destruction of their ship, landing on the planet of Xulon and its special Moorla moons, which were pleasure moons for the purpose of entertainment. During this futuristic timeline, Hettite slavers overtake an Empire ship that held several humans of the empire, most scientists, killing all the men and taking the women hostage. The Hettite sold the female humans to the Xulonians, who placed the humans onto their Moorla moons. This series covers the survival of these female humans and male Taoris as they fight for survival on these moons.

Stalk is book two of the series, and follows a Taori alien named Daiken who was a pilot in the midst of the Quaibyn when his sky clan got sucked into the time portal and his human counterpart Valeria (aka Val), who was a scientist for the Empire ship, both of which landed on the hunting Moorla moon, where the Xulonians used avatars to hunt weak prey. They found each other in the last book when Daiken saved Val in a cave with a sprained ankle and stumbled upon the underground tunnels. When Val was found in the dark tunnels by Lia, Torst recognized Daiken who was also in the tunnels protecting her. Torst ran into Daiken again during a battle with the mercenaries, but he fled into the jungle when the battle was over to avoid Val. Unfortunately, the Quaibyn had him believing that Val was in danger by the Synthians so he kidnapped her right before she was able to escape with the survivors from the first book and took her to the untraveled tunnels below the frozen tundra. He held her hostage there until she decided to seduce Daiken and escape, fleeing to the place where she assumed the others were waiting for her, only to find that they had left. He saved Val for the umpteenth time from her foolishness and she chose to stay with him and not run. Daiken’s fever got cured from the venom of a giant ice spider and he was finally reasonable enough to understand the dangers and form a plan of escape. Along the way, they come across another survivor who turns out to be a Xulonian who didn’t agree with what his people were doing, so he ran. It took them a while to trust the red-skinned alien who looked like their enemy, but he eventually earned their trust. Their plan worked and they fought their way to a space craft where they escaped the hunting planet.

Daiken and Val develop a strong bond and feelings for each other along the journey, ultimately falling in love. There was a lot of adventure in this book, almost too much for that matter, and they take turns saving each other’s lives. Once you get through the non-stop adventure and make it to the romance scenes, they’re every bit of fire one would hope for. There was too much buildup to them finally getting it on, but I found it worth the wait. I guess it would be difficult to pick up a book and get immediately into the sex scenes, because what’s sex without a romantic buildup? But Grace Goodwin ruined me for all other romance novels. Lol.

I recommend the read, if this is your cup of tea. Now that I’ve invested my time into the plot, I will undoubtedly read the remaining books in this series.

🔥 “Such a perfect little captive taking everything I give you and begging for more.”
~~~
Daiken is the Taori pilot consumed by the Quaibyn before their ship disappeared into the wormhole. Now, he’s unleashed on the Xulonian’s hunting moon and he’s more dangerous and deadly than ever. But, despite the mating fever, Daiken remains such an honorable, fierce and protective male. I adored and respected him for his strength and determination to tame himself and keep his oath to defend and protect. He’s one absolutely magnificent male and I adored everything about him!
Valeria is used to always being alone and doing things solo. She’s smart, kind and compassionate and trouble always seems to find her. I loved her bravery to face all the dangers thrown her way and I admired her determination to get back to her crew and her life. But things don’t always go as planned and playing with fire always has consequences.
Everything that happened between Daiken and Valeria was spectacular. Being taken by Daiken, it takes some time for Valeria to trust him. Even more, she tries to escape him many times and everytime she finds trouble, Daiken is always there to save her. I adored those two together! From the moment they met, their chemistry was undeniable. And they were such a fantastic team. And when they finally gave in to their attraction, the passion they shared was so intense and blazing hot! Daiken and Valeria were such a perfect match and I couldn’t get enough of them!
In addition, the worldbuilding and the storyline were fantastic. We get to explore the far side of the Xulonian’s hunting moon - a land covered in ice and full of deadly creatures. Even more, the danger and unexpected alliances kept me glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is another phenomenal addition to the series. It’s filled with fast-paced action, danger, suspense, twists, scorching hot romance and spectacular characters.
I couldn’t put it down and loved every page of it!
I’m absolutely addicted to the series and cannot wait to see what will happen next!
This was a sci-fi alien warrior romance.
Loved this story! It was so refreshing to see a nerdy heroine become a kick a** warrior.
Valeria is an imperial scientist. After a love affair gone wrong in university, she only does one night stands and does not get emotionally involved. As the survivors were getting on the Xulonian ship they appropriated to leave the hunting moon, Val was kidnapped by Daiken.
Daiken has been suffering in the throws of the Quaibyn, Taori mating fever. He helps Torst fight off the mercenaries so they can leave the planet but he is having delusions and thinks he is saving Val, his mate, from the swarm when he takes her off the steps of the ship and brings her to his place in the tunnels.
Val tried to escape multiple times, then goes for broke and decides to seduce Daiken so she can get away. She is convinced her friends are waiting for her on the surface in the ship. After they hook up his mating fever starts to diminish but does not completely go away until he tangles with a giant ice spider. It seems the venom may be a cute for the fever and they decide to take the pincers for testing. On their way out of the frozen side of the moon they fall into an underground shelter where Gri Gri lives. Gri Gri is a Xulon who was disgusted by what his people were doing so he ran away from the command center. Together the three decide to steal the ship from the latest group of mercenaries to land on the planet. They get off the planet and are hailed by Torst and Kia where they plan to rescue the rest of their shipmates.
OMG, remember the Taori warrior that was really deep in the mating fever, you know the one that saved Valeria in book 1, Daiken…this is their book. And might I say it was quite the book, because you know he takes her again, thinking he is saving her. And these two get into quite the adventurous shenanigans…and other shenanigans too *winks*. Mostly because Valeria is kinda a handful. When you are with the top predator on the moon, stick to him like glue…you know what I’m saying. She actually refers to him and his kind as superheroes, and she be right. Thankfully Daiken is a badass Taori warrior, even deep in the mating fever, and apparently a superhero too, and is able to handle anything.
Safe read, with a great storyline that takes these two on quite the journey, and lots of “fun” shenanigans. Very interesting. These two were bringing the heat, and he was really bringing the dirty talking…sign me up. Some old favorite characters, and new ones too. Epilogue, and hea. More please, I definitely need more, such an addicting series.
Didn't love this one as much. I could not stand Val. I really couldn't. Next book is Carly (Lia's security friend) and it sounds like she's on the pleasure moon.
Don't read below if you don't want spoilers. They are for my benefit later.
Val is kidnapped by Daiken (suffering badly from the fever) and they are on the ice side of the moon. She tries to escape and is attacked by a giant rat. He kills rat and he's sad she'd run from him. She tries to escape again and I can't remember what happens the second time. Anyway. She seduces him in between those 2 times and his fever doesn't completely go away. They leave the ice cave and are attacked by an ice spider. It's venom cures his fever. They are chased by another spider into the forest and fall into another tunnel. They find a Xulonian alien who has betrayed his own species. Gri-Gri (xulonian) helps them escape and they all leave the planet on a stolen transport ship. At the end, they are in contact with the previous book characters.
Loved this second story in this series about a group of Taori warriors whose spaceship was fired upon and destroyed after leaving a wormhole. Jettisoning their life pods, they landed on the Marloon moons. Each moon is set up with a life and death scenario game that is broadcast to the civilians to watch or participate. This story is about Daiken a Taori who landed on the Hunting moon deep in the mating fever and Valeria a human who was abducted and sold for the games who found an undercover haven created by the survivors only to be taken by the lust-filled Daiken who thought he was protecting her while leaving the moon on a spaceship. What occurs in this story of titillating action and steaming romance with personable characters in this engaging storyline that kept me flipping the pages. I volunteer to read and review this ARC that I received via Booksprout. I'm looking forward to the rest of this wonderful series.
Oh my this is such a wonderful read that I couldn’t stop reading. I absolutely loved reading, it’s the second book in the series and Daiken and Valeria’s story. I loved Daiken, he’s a Taori warrior who along with his other warrior shipmates had their ship fired upon and destroyed when they left a wormhole. They land on the Marloon moons where they are made to participate in life and death scenario games. He’s far into the mating fever and Valeria a human that was taken and sold for the games is taken again by Daiken with him thinking he’s protecting her while he’s so filled with the mating fever. It leads to a very engaging story with characters that have wonderful chemistry and a hot steaming romance. I couldn’t get enough. The story pulled me in and engaged me from the beginning making me want my own Taori Warrior. Yes please.
I was given an advance copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest review.
I absolutely loved reading the story about Daiken and Valeria. Daiken is almost consumed with the mating fever and he is sure that his enemies the Sythians who destroy everything in their path. Valeria is his woman as he scented her as such and it is his responsibility to ensure that she survives and so he grabs her and takes her into the caves to protect her from the enemy. The journey these two go through is both exciting as well as scary for both of them, they encounter new threats to their freedom and they find love with each other. They make a new friend and they escape to meet up with the rest of their people. As usual the epilogue is an introduction to a new story which also seems exciting and dangerous.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.
How do you pronounce Valeria?
Like Malaria or Valerie with a on the end? It kept tripping me up throughout the book.
I love Tana Stone's writing, but this book hit on a couple of my reading pet peeves. The first one was an unlikeable female protagonist. For a scientist, she really did dumb things. How many times can you run from the good guy into danger when you know there are bad things trying to kill you? Another pet peeve was the repetitive introspection of Valeria telling herself how she despised relationships or anything except casual sex. I almost stopped reading because it was annoying, and too much introspection is my biggest pet peeve. I got it the first time. Repeating it in twenty different ways just irritates me.
I forced myself to keep reading and it got better.
Adventure with a side of steamy romance
Besides all the steam, the story is so exciting. It was hard to put the book down, leaving characters in peril. And the references to the Charge of the Light Brigade poem that I memorized in 4th grade. The story felt familiar and exciting at the same time. I only discovered Ms. Stone from an anthology, but I'm so happy that I did. I'm giving this second book, and the series so far, five stars. Because the mix of all the above mentioned elements is just perfect. I recommend this series if you enjoy adventure with a side of steamy romance.
This is the second book in this series and is Daiken and Valeria's story, who were mentioned in the first book. This book can be read as a standalone, however it does follow on from the first and you might miss information about both characters from the first book.
I absolutely loved this book, this author and her books very quickly became a favourite of mine. This book defiantly didn't disappoint. It had a fantastic imaginative storyline, great characters with depth and just the right about of suspense, adventure and romance.
Another big hit for me stone with book 2. Wonderfully rich detail in the world building, great storyline lots excitement drama suspended and more. While I did find Valeria constantly trying to run away from daiken annoying because common sense would tell u the others wouldn't be waiting around at the ship looking for hertheur escape would mean leaving fast she redeemed herself thru out the story. Daiken was awesome hanging on to his honour by a thread even during his extreme mating fever and delusions. The taori brotherhood is such a family sacrificing everything to fight the swarm. I love their comradery and loyalty. I love gri-gri and the dynamics which developed over the course of the story. I did find their survival on the ice side of the planet with no supplies or proper clothing a bit hard to swallow so that should have been addressed a little better. A terrific read.
I got an arc copy and this is my honest review.
Here we have another story about the Taori warriers. It always baffles me how this author manages to make story after story with new scenarios, new people - aliens - some with horns, other with fangs or tails or this or that and all is there to make it more fun or exciting to read the stories, which I must say that I totally love. Be it the Bridal boat or the Sand people or the great Taori with their horns and tails... Just fabulous. This story is just as fabulously fantastic as the previous ones. So fantastic five stars from me for this story.
Yey, book two was definitely more of a read for me. Less characters, lots of banter, arguments and tension.
Daiken is still fully feverish when he kidnaps Valeria. The scientist that she is, tries to calculate when safest way out of this predicament and.... of course... fails.
I loved watching them grow and bond as they try to work things out.
One star is completely and entirely for Gri-Gri. I so hope to read more about him in the following books! 🥰
Thanks Tana, I can't wait to read book three in the series next; SEDUCE.
Daiken is suffering from the Mating fever, even though he is on the hunting moon and pursued by the red skulled aliens he has saved one of the human females not only from the hunters, but alson from himself at first. But as his fever progresses he cannot resist the pull of her. Thankfully they are fated.
This was a great read and filled with tons of emotion, Action, Adventure, and plenty of steam.
Daiken is an honorable warrior. He is Valeria's protector and mate. This was so exciting and dangerous with ice spiders and hunters. Valeria is a scientist but also learns how to be a warrior. As many times as she tried to escape, Daiken saved her. Even with the mating fever he protected Valeria and never hurt her. They find an ally and all three of them escape from the hunting moon. They are perfect for each other. Can't wait till the next book.
Sweet &Sexy
I loved This book because the Warrior and the Scientist were so cute together. She was the only thing keeping him sane as he suffered through his mating fever and a distorted reality. He kept her safe although he terrified her at first. The couple battled hunters and weird alien creatures trying to escape the hunters moon. There was action and sexy times and a wonderful ending. I can’t wait for the next book.
What kind of moon is this?!?!
Valeria is kidnapped by alien slavers and ends up on a moon exclusively for aliens to hunt down and kill people for sport. As she is getting ready to escape, she is pulled off the ship be a huge alien.
Daiken is in the midst of the mating fever and his version of reality isn't real. When he pulls Val off the soon to depart ship, he thinks he's saving her.
Slow in bits but ended with promise
Daiken and Valeria's relationship development was paced well overall, but at 50-something percent in the exposition really slowed down the flow of the story. Which is strange to admit, given that much excitement occurred in the last half of the book. It just felt oddly disjointed.
Still, we met Gri-Gri whose story made me cry - so there's that. Looking forward to the next story in the series. Four stars.
The story is getting more exciting, and danger still abounds. How would a Taori suffering from mating fever saved a defenseless human, and the human always finds danger every time she escapes. And once more, they found an unexpected ally to help them escape.
You will love the Taori much as the Drexian.
I loved the story and I couldn't wait for the next one.
