Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
This has become one of my top three volumes in the whole series. This is also the latest volume that is released (the 27th will be released in February). Apart from two chapters, the whole volume is dedicated to the fight between Benimaru and his master (who came back as a doppelganger). I really like the whole doppelganger thing by the way. You can see that Benimaru looks up to his dead master and shows his true emotions. Learning about Benimaru's childhood and his master were great. The fight itself was superb! I can't wait to see this fight animated. In the end, we see Sho and Arrow blending in and trying to find answers on their own. As the world coming to an end, I wonder what is going to happen next. Brilliant volume!
Nice to get more backstory for Benimaru including how he became the head of Company Seven and what they were like before they officially became part of the Special Fire Forces. It is pretty interesting to see how he became who he is. And the fight was pretty well done as it showed how powerful Benimaru is and why he is known as the strongest Fire Force Member. Also I love they are putting in more links to Soul Eater as the climax comes closer. Also Sho is so adorable being in public as you see him have the cutest reactions to ordinary things like Balloons and scooters. Also the mystery he is uncovering is pretty interesting.
Very interesting volume. Much of it is about a fight scene that i would've preferred to be a little longer, but at the end it was satisfying because of the action and the emotional weight that carried.
The last couple of chapters had some interesting development and they were super funny. Sho and Arrow are becoming one of my favourite duos. I've always liked Arrow (maybe it's because of my online gaming years playing range characters that made me like her since early on) but the comedy exchanges between them are pure gold.
Omg, this was bad. We got a flashback to Shinmon, which felt forced and I don’t think we needed it, considering the amount of chapters it took. The end was nice, though the whole “virgin Mary” sounded so bizarre and I laughed a lot at it. Starting to get concern about where the story is going, though The cliffhanger was good.
Sho and Shinra were Virgin births?!?! Does that mean Adolla is their father?.........Who was the Adolla link with? Mari? Their Mother? Will she be the infernal guarding the last pillar?!?!
A world of imagination.......seems weird lol

Beni’s one of my favorite characters so it was fun to get to see him take center for a while. Not much of company 8 for this onethough, but the hints about the Kusakabe’s could be interesting.

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but I love Benimaru. This volume largely followed Benimaru's fight with his master, who had returned. Honestly, one of my favourite volumes in a while.
Now we're talinking about! First: Beni's story is great, and... he's a huge idiot. Amazing fight, lore, development and art. But what gets me is the Kusakase lore drop. WTF? Is it two Jesus now?
The pillars continue to appear and now there are seven. With these pillars come infernals that the Fire Force is struggling to take out. But when a familiar figure appears near Asakusa, Benimaru recognizes it as the doppelganger of the old boss. Cue the emotional flashback and the "prove you're worthy" fight.
Meanwhile, Sho continues to search for answers about his family.
