Katie and Leblanc do not trust each other which makes their partnership very difficult. Both avoid disclosing information about their past and those pasts may rise and overcome any rational thoughts involving the investigation they are facing in Reach Me. The plot has a lot of twists and turns and leads that reach nowhere. Will they be able to work their problems out and find the killer? This is a fast-paced story with two strong character FBI agents and a devilish killer providing a few hours of enjoyable entertainment! As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my unbiased opinion.
This was a quick read with a decent enough pace. Unfortunately I didn’t really feel much for any of the characters. Most of the task force characters were little more than a name with very little contribution to the story. The two main law enforcement characters had a bit of background but their interaction didn’t feel natural. I also couldn’t get a good grasp of the timing. From the perspective of LeClerc and Winter it felt like a mere day or two for the entire story. However, the killer was travelling great distances within that amount of time.
FBI Special Agent Katie Winters and her Canadian counterpart, and partner, LeBlanc, are on the hunt for a serial killer who has escaped from a maximum security prison in NY. As the killer heads north into Canada p, leaving bodies in his wake, can they figure out where he is heading before he kills any more people????
If you have a strong heart and you are not prone to getting nightmares, you should definitely read this book! Molly Black's suspense thrillers should be at the top of your TBR list if you love reading rather than experiencing the horrific reality that these things do happen.
Kinda weird how the murderer of this 2nd installment just somehow conveniently died, taken by the lake or something 😅. And what about that other serial killer that Katie thought killed her twin sister? What if her twin sister intentionally just wants get lost? 🤔
The plotline is starting to become interesting ~ with new developments on Katie's 'personal' case and her partner's confession of what happened why he left Paris, I am now excited at seeing where this series will go.
FBI Special Agent Katie Winter of the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit is working with Canadian Cross-Border Task Force Detective Leblanc to capture serial killer Carl Dolan who escaped from a maximum security prison in New York. Katie and Leblanc hunt for Dolan in Canada leaving dead bodies along the way. Katie and Leblanc try working together despite their differences. Katie follows leads of her twin sister Josie’s disappearance years ago which still haunts Katie. I really enjoyed this fabulous suspense thriller novel.
I liked the way this story unfolded. The characters were realistic and it was easy to relate to them. I was on the edge of my seat, so to speak, not knowing what was going to happen next. I would definitely recommend this entire series to anyone who enjoys a suspense thriller. I am looking forward to reading about more adventures with Katie Winter and her FBI endeavors.
Reach Me (Katie Winter #2) was a great read by Molly Black. A serial killer escapes prison and crosses the border into Canada. FBI Special Agent Katie Winter has to team up with her Canadian counterparts to stop him before other people die. Secrets from her past bubble up and she ends up following a lead for her sister's disappearance before it gets cold. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
Katie and her Canadian counterpart on the task force head to Canada to catch a killer. Both partners have a lot of baggage that haunts them. Leblanc lost a romantic partner and it’s made him prickly. Lots of plot twists. Katie sees into the mind of the serial killers and that makes her a rising star in the BAU.
Absolutely love this series and I think book 2 is even better than book 1. There was so much action and sometimes I felt my heart was in my mouth and I had to keep telling myself that FBI agent Katie Winter would be okay as there are plenty more to come. Can't wait to read the next one!
Enjoyed my second foray into this author’s work. Liked the dramatic misunderstandings between partners and the frustration of knowing they weren’t right. Well performed and pretty clean…Odd in a novel that deals with such tension between 2 people trying to accomplish the same goal in different ways.
Parts of the story were exciting and page-turners. Other parts were a bland with repeating text "I'm on my way." And others. I think the plot was good. It pulled you along. It was unlike other books from similar genre. I'm considering buying the next book.
This book was a repeat of Blacks previous suspense novel with a slightly different setting. The names of the law enforcement agents were changed, as were the localities, but the story line was identical. What a disappointment.
Okay, I haven't finished it yet but still planning to. What already bugs me is how easy it was to escape a maximum security prison. I've worked in one and her description is unrealistic. The minimum/medium security prison I currently work at is harder to escape from than the maximum security prison in this book.
I finished reading and overall, the plot is alright, a good amount of suspense, not as good as the first one.
Molly Black has to learn more geography about the region in the book. You cannot get from Niagara Falls to North Bay in three hours; Toronto does not have foothills... The background to the novel is poorly researched.
I didn't read book one but I assume this gave more details of Katie Winters career. Otherwise I'm left wondering how a frankly flaky woman got a job with the FBI. Don't they do background checks? Atmospheric as it made me feel cold.
2.5 stars Meh. Not as good as the first one. It has no real tension or mystery and both Katie & Le Blanc are less likeable and their connection as partners non existent & dynamic painful to experience. Even the bit about Josie felt tedious & formulaic
Another good book by this author. I am enjoying this series However, there are many editing errors that take away from it. EG: a "Two seater" truck suddenly changes to an suddenly. The story in itself is enjoyable and worth a read despite the poor editing.
Enjoyed this book, from the first to the last page. Another case for FBI Special Agent Katie Winter and Canadian Detective Leblanc, this time with a serial killer on the loose.
Katie Winter & Leblanc are two stubborn individuals Which make it difficult To be partners In any crime situation. Still This is a good read. Molly black has A lot of killings in her novels.
I really enjoy reading profiler stories. The way they get into the mind of criminals is impressive ! I hope Katie reopens her sisters case and finds her alive…
The suspect kept me guessing from the beginning. Never knowing how the next murder would be found and if Dolan would be caught. I can’t wait for the next book.
