Hospitium (Greek: ξενία, xenia, προξενία) is the ancient art of hospitality, defined as the sacred right of the guest and the divine duty of the host. For example, it would be indecent for the guest to set fire to the curtains of the host, or for the host to poison the meal of the guest. Not that anyone abides by ancient traditions.
Olivie Blake is the pseudonym of Alexene Farol Follmuth, a lover and writer of stories, many of which involve the fantastic, the paranormal, or the supernatural, but not always. More often, her works revolve around what it means to be human (or not), and the endlessly interesting complexities of life and love. Olivie has penned several indie SFF projects, including the webtoon Clara and the Devil with illustrator Little Chmura and the viral Atlas series. As Follmuth, her young adult rom-com My Mechanical Romance releases May 2022.
Olivie lives in Los Angeles with her husband and new baby, where she is generally tolerated by her rescue pit bull.
i know everyone here is gushing over nicolibby—completely justified, by the way—but can we please all take a minute to appreciate the few nicogideon crumbs we were given…
He and Max observed Nico's sleeping form in silence, watching as he flung one arm over his head and into what remained of the tres leches cake. "He’s so cute when he sleeps" remarked Gideon fondly.
are you kidding me?! i would do anything for them <3
4.5 nicolibby SERVED and callum being described as a recalcitrant louche is the best thing ever – reread rating: 4.5 preparing myself for my ta6 rr tomorrow😋😋
A snippet of each character before they were brought to the Society, at times revealing some bits and pieces but really, only serving up more questions.
Of course, it will come as no surprise that the standout stars are Nico, LIbby and their friends - their antagonism here was made fun and light of, and it was an entertaining look-see. Each scene with these two literally made me laugh out loud, something that was sorely missing in the main book. Having read this, it definitely makes me look forward to reading The Atlas Paradox even more!
(update: I won't be sharing the link as the site itself is gone, sorry :/)
i read this as a sort of prequel to understand the characters before i picked up atlas six and that was the sweetest. thing. ever.
olivie blake is a magician because her writing is craazyyy good and her ability to make it so atmospheric?? the apartment vibes were 10/10 but anyway this was a comforting short read and it just makes me even more excited to read the series
might not read atlas six for awhile though because the second book comes out years away and i wouldn't want to wait that long, but we'll see!
⠀⠀⠀ honestly, i think i need an entire book series of just nico and libby fighting and throwing food at each other 'cause i just had the time of my life reading this.
⠀⠀⠀ also, parisa, break my heart too, please.

Sacred Hospitality is a short story in The Atlas Six trilogy. It includes some very short scenes of the six main characters, especially focusing on Libby and Nico. I really love the dynamic of these two, so reading their banter is always a fun reading experience. My biggest surprise with this short story was Callum’s scene, since it shows that is more to him and the complexity of his feelings than there seemed to be in the first book.
