As a strong initiate of the Sawa sect, Kei never expected to be given the boot, while someone else cheated their way up the ladder.
But here he was, kicked out, speeding across the planet, with one chance left to prove himself: His mission to infiltrate the enemy sect, and steal what makes them the most powerful family on the planet.
Fail, and lose everything he’s ever strived for.
Fail, and lose the one thing he loves the most, his family.
For Kei, failure is just not an option.
Warning: This side series contains untraditional relationships, and adult situations.
Kei has been attending the Sawa sect's academy, training hard, and hoping to earn a place in the sect. He never expected to have to go up against his rival, Jin, in a battle that would determine whether or not he would stay in the academy. And he certainly never expected that Jin would cheat, or that he would lose.
Now that Kei has been expelled from the academy and kicked out of the sect, he has only one option left to prove to himself to the Sawa sect: He has to infiltrate a rival sect and find out how and why they are so powerful. One wrong move and it's game over. But Kei has no intention of losing, not when he is so close to getting the one thing he's always wanted.
This book starts off with a battle, at high speed, and never lets up. The action is fast-paced, and the plot moves right along with it. As a general warning, this book does contain the establishment of a harem, and there are several sex scenes throughout the book. If you don't like harems, then this book is not for you. If you don't care, or you do like them, then it's nothing to worry about.
I can say, that as much as this book is pulp sci-fi, there were some twists to the story that I did not see coming. By the time I was about 4 chapters in, I couldn't put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen next. I laughed out loud when the reasoning behind Kei's involvement was revealed; it was both perfect and eye-rolling at the same time - if you read the book, you'll find out why, and maybe you'll agree. Even if you don't, though, if you like action, hot women, martial arts, and qi cultivation, then you should give this book a try.
Also, if you've read the Ocean Slayers series, you should read this one for the connection. You should know that though there isn't really a connection in this book aside from the cultivation levels, I can see where it might come in. If you haven't read the Ocean Slayers series yet, then go pick up book 1 - Zero Car - and read it. Hot girls, fast cars, cultivation, mystery, action... what more could you want?
Kei is a fantastic character who just wants to be able to finish his education and reach his full potential. Also, do the incredibly beautiful women around him but it's a Lit-RPG so what do you expect? After getting clobbed by a cheater during a duel, he loses any chance of doing either until he's given a chance to infiltrate an enemy sect. I really enjoyed the book and think A. Knowles does an amazing job of writing. The characters jump off the page, the combat scenes are great, and the sexy-times are also hot. Perfect for an afternoon's read.
Very interesting futuristic martial world with a cultivation magic system. The book hits the ground running and we are left to figure things out as the story plays out. The world is very interesting so much so that I wish the book was longer. There is quite a bit of sex in a harem style. The underlying story is very cool and engaging.
This was my first time reading this style of book- overall it was a good introduction. I probably won’t read another of this style anytime soon, but the book kept me engaged
I did NOT know that Infiltrate was going to be a duet narration – this is one of the first ones I’ve read. It’s definitely the first one that’s in the romance category (where I believe it’s much more common).
I went into this one knowing that this was written by an author I enjoy but had some more adult parts to it – so I went in knowing it was more harem/romance than science fiction – but I will say – Knowles does a fantastic job writing a story that shines in both genres. And as the story progressed there were more romantic scenes but also had a lot of typical LitRPG/Sci-Fi scenes as well. The action in this one picks up from the very start and doesn’t let up.
The thing that surprised me the most about this story was how compelling it really was. Sure there were harem parts and sure there was some sect fighting and manipulation but it was such a good story without all of those things. I don’t know why I’m so surprised by this since I know this author pretty well and I know that their work always leaves me feeling good when I finish their books. But this one was genuinely enjoyable from beginning to end. Knowles writes characters that were compelling and likable. But also put them into situations where no matter what happened I liked them even more after the situation they were in (trying not to spoil).
Speaking of the duet narration – Noel Harrison and Vivienne LaRue absolutely knock this one out of the park. I don’t think I’ve listened to any of the books they’ve performed before but I will be on the lookout for more books by them in the future. They both crushed this performance and really became the characters.
Overall, this was a fun read from beginning to end. Sci-Fi and LitRPG fans will enjoy it and those who like romance and harem stories will also get a kick out of the non-romance elements. A great book from beginning to end.
