**Like my reviews? Then you should follow me! Because I have hundreds more just like this one. With each review, I provide a Cleanliness Report, mentioning any objectionable content I come across so that parents and/or conscientious readers (like me) can determine beforehand whether they want to read a book or not. Content surprises are super annoying, especially when you’re 100+ pages in, so here’s my attempt to help you avoid that!

I love Richard Scarry books. You will never go wrong with those - right massage, right story, beautiful illustrations. I am definitely biased, because I had a huge book of his stories while growing up and it was one of my favourites. But no matter what, I have a feeling I wouldn't be the only one reading his books with so much passion even if I am way old for those.
I might be a bit biased with this book, even reading it as an almost-28 year old, because I LOVED these back when I was a kid... everyone around was living on Richard Scarry's Busytown books in my country in that era (and later on the oh so many hilarious parodies which were about criminals, college students or 21th century people).
And I still find these adorable. I still find myself loving nice children's books and cartoons, but I rarely find one which are cute, appropriate for kids (complexity and quality of language, stories etc.) but not sickening headache-inducing saccharine sweet which regards kids as braindeads, not as kids... and this book was exactly the type I love. I could still read it without thinking "Oh this is dumb" "This is fakely cutesy" and so on...
The stories were nice, fun, cute, could be read by anyone in any era, taught a lot of nice things to kids and it also had a nice set of words to learn at the end, a built-in board game (fun, but easy enough to understand for everyone) and even a great home-made gift tip. It described a really nice town with all its funny and cute citizens.
cute, funny, exciting, sometimes even a little scary, but everything works out splendidly in the end every time. one of my favorite childhood books, glad to rediscover it this year.
A reissue of the 1981 classic by Richard Scarry, Best Christmas Book Ever contains 11 short stories about Christmas featuring Richard Scarry's familiar characters. Different stories can be read by different readers. The book would be good for short holiday read alouds. The book contains one how to do activity to create a gift for grandma. It also contains a two-page spread of holiday words and ends with the music for Silent Night.

We love Richard Scarry in our house. I thought I had all the books and then discovered this gem just in time for Christmas. It is a delightful book. The best part is the last few pages - there's a board game! You just need some paper or coins (heads and tales) and the kids and adults will have hours of fun.
This was Matthew's must read for the holiday season. I read it to him (after having it in our Christmas books for 2 years and never have read it). We both laughed throughout it. It has since sparked his interest in Richard Scarry books.
Another of my all time holiday favorite's as a kid that I have to share with the little people in my life. The great characters I enjoyed reading about as a child are all there with some fun holiday hi-jinx. Can't wait to read this for bedtime with the kiddos.
I just love Richard Scarry books. Although this tome is aimed at small children (as I was when I first read it) I still find it charming today. As an illustrator, I really appreciate the cute, fun artwork, especially the Swiss influences in some of the architecture and clothing, and the stories themselves are well-written, happy, and funny. This book is also great for Christmas because it includes some songs, gift projects, and games that pretty much anyone can do. The idea of the apple pomander has always stuck with me since I first read this book as a little kid and one of these Christmases, I'm going to actually try it!
Classic Richard Scarry and perfect for adding to our Christmas library. Hilarious tales of Mr Frumble and a new character I'd never met - grouchy Mr Gronkle! With craft ideas, warming stories about caring for others, and a few Christmas Carols included - and a game! - it's perfect!
We really enjoyed this book. It has lots of short Christmas stories with those beloved Richard Scarry characters. Some of the stories really made us giggle.
I love Richard Scarry. We have a different Richard Scarry Christmas book, and I didn't realize there were others when we came across this one at the library.
