WHEN THE WIND BLOWS FROM THE SOUTH, LOVE WILL KISS THEE ON THE MOUTH.

AND THEN, SHE WILL KILL YOU…

Rowan Gant’s unwanted gift of hearing the dead has placed him at the center of some of the most heinous serial murder investigations imaginable. This one, however, not only comes knocking on his front door, it steps across the threshold…

Of existing serial homicide cases, women make up less than one-tenth of American serial killers. However, among female serial killers in existence worldwide, American women have the dubious honor of snagging better than three-quarters of that total.

Within the characteristics of the Kelleher Typology nine point categorization of serial killers is that of SEXUAL PREDATORS- those who systematically kill others in clear acts of sexual homicide.

They are sociopaths, sometimes harboring a form of paraphilia, but almost always killing in order to fuel or even validate an ongoing fantasy. In the case of female serial killers, however, this classification is so distinctly rare that there has only been one documented instance of it in the United States.

Still, there are those who wonder if that case was merely an isolated anomaly, or in fact a harbinger of what is yet to come.

Rowan Gant is about to find the answer to that question. The problem is, it might just be one he doesn’t want to hear….

A member of the ITW (International Thriller Writers), M. R. Sellars is a relatively unassuming homebody who, in his own words, “tells pretty lies for a living.” Although his penchant for creating fiction began at an early age, he was eventually inspired to pursue a degree in journalism, an endeavor he describes as, “a good chase, even though it got away.” His career plans re-routed, he put a secondary talent – electronics repair – into play. However, this did not deter him from writing and he soon re-focused on his first love, fiction. While he had several short stories appear in minor publications, it wasn’t until 2000 that his first full-length novel, Harm None: A Rowan Gant Investigation, hit bookstore shelves, officially launching the acclaimed paranormal thriller series and its associated spinoff.

All of the current novels in Sellars’ continuing Rowan Gant Investigations saga have spent several consecutive weeks on numerous bookstore bestseller lists as well as a consistent showing on the Amazon.com Horror/Occult top 100. In 2010 a short e-novella featuring a supporting character from the RGI cast spawned a new series, The Special Agent Constance Mandalay Novels, the first full-length book being IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER, which hit the streets November 2011. The second, INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE is slated for release 2018.

Sellars currently resides in the Midwest with his wife, daughter, and a houseful of rescued animals – a population which currently stands at one canine (Vicki the Wonder Dog) and three felines (Roxxy, Nachos el Tigre, and Mac the Klaw) – not to mention the myriad creatures inhabiting the Two-Acre Wood. He often describes the fluctuating menagerie as, “the competition.” At home, when not writing, taking care of the household, splitting firewood, or battling the insidious and invasive Asian Bush Honeysuckle, he indulges his passions for cooking and home brewing.

M. R. Sellars can be located on the web wherever there is a virtual bar serving virtual single malt Scotch, single barrel bourbon, good Irish whisky, and decent beer. In other words, look for him on the major social networking sites.

While the killer is a lot of fun, a smoking hot dominatrix leaving a trail of broken and destroyed men in her wake the segments with the protagonist were crushingly dull.

Good villainess and boring heroes makes for a very mid tier book.

#6 Rowan Gant Investigation, in which the dominatrix Mistress Miranda makes her first appearance. In this book, it's Rowan's wife Felicity who is vulnerable to negative energies/spirits as she begins channeling the spirit of Miranda, with her personality and even her soft Irish lilt changing to Miranda's southern accent. Rowan is troubled, wondering whether the body of his wife in possession of Miranda is the one who brutally murdered her sex slaves or if she is just soaking up those energies enough to change her from the loving wife he knows to a prickly, domineering sex kitten that he doesn't.

It's always a pleasure to read books that treat the Pagan/Wiccan paths as real and valid and not necessarily 'paranormal' although I have to say in these most recent books, it does seem a bit over the top--which the author admits himself. There's little charm of the first few books with the details of Pagan beliefs & celebrations, assisting friends from their coven, etc. This is mostly just running from one problem to the next, Rowan with his headaches and Felicity getting weirder as Miranda takes over her personality.

I'm gong to keep reading, as I have the next three books in the series here, but this has ceased to become one of my favorites. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but I prefer a book/series with a little more substance and a little less gratuitous sax & violins. :) I also have come to intensely dislike books that end on a cliffhanger where you have to read on. Progression in the series is one thing, but IMO each book should have a story in and of itself that's wrapped up by the end.

I read the first Rowan Gant novel and although intrigued by the premise, I didn't 't think much of the writing. I thought I would give Mr Sellars one more chance with a much later book to see if there was enough improvement to give me the impetuous to continue. I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed this book. The writing doesn't feel as stilted as in the first book and there is a better flow between scenes and characters. Now I have to get the next book in the series fairly quickly since this is part of a trilogy and the end left me hanging but in a good way.

Another good book in the series. This one has more of the slow promising build up to a good end as it is the first in a trilogy. I do find the whole Voodoo aspect slightly weird as its a deviation from the normal witch craft that these books normally have. Definitely want to finish the trilogy and see where it goes.

I liked it, although the storyline of this one was a bit on the thin side. Not an awful lot of sleuthing and deduction going on. And the ending was just annoying. It basically stops in the middle of the plot. Make sure book #7 is close, otherwise it's too frustrating!

I love M R Sellars anyway . The Patrick Owen in this story is a real person , runs a cigar store here in Nashville. He is husband to Tish Owen thanked in the preface. I just recently mentioned to a librarian that he was local (Louisville) and perhaps they should invite him to come and speak .

Book number six in the Rowan Gant Investigations series is also the beginning of a three book subset that revolves around a murderous dominatrix called Miranda. Good story.
