This book does an excellent job of explaining what it means to be greedy, and what exactly a fair share is. You will also find very easy to understand explanations of what it means to: always be dissatisfied, self-centered, and what it means when someone feels superior. The book talks about fair and unfair and points out that it's not fun to be around people who display the above mentioned traits. Suggestions are offered for how to avoid being greedy both in thoughts and actions. I thought this was an excellent book! It is very thourogh, yet easy enough for a young child to understand (I would say ages 3 - 8).
I grew up on these books and absolutely love them! The Help Me Be Good books are great for young children. My children also loved them when they were young.
I purchased a set of Joy Wilt Berry books at a yard sale and have enjoyed using Being Greedy with my preschool class for a few years now. I like it because it shows the children with clear examples what Being Greedy means and then shows them the concept of a fair share. It also shows that it is easier to get along with your friends when you share. I follow reading the book with a discussion about how it feels to share even when the child does not want to and the rewards of learning to put other's first and share what we have.
Such a great book for kids and adults to read together!! Joy Berry has a wonderful way of bringing things to a kids level to help them understand things better. Sometimes as an adult we forget kids see and process the world differently than us.
Beautifully illustrated to help kids pay attention while learning valuable life lessons!
This series is wonderful for any home or classroom! I want them for he community center where I work!! I am also thrilled they are being made available as ebooks!!
This is an entertaining book in the Help Me Be Good series that teaches children about ethical and moral themes.
I thought that this was an engaging story about not being selfish and greedy and sharing with others. The narrative is short and easy to read aloud and the illustrations are colorful and cartoonish, if a bit dated.
I don't really recall reading this book. I used to like this series but I've grown past them. There are better behavior books out there -- I think. And if I have to, I'll just make my own.
I am looking for books to teach kindergarteners social skills. I haven't field tested this book yet but I think it does a good job of explaining different understandings of what a " fair-share" is.
