Edwin presses for travel to his home clan of Cape Cod where The Rite of the Select must be performed for Calia. Philip reluctantly travels with the siblings, though his future with Calia is uncertain.

Adahy is part-Band but in his heart he is Iroquois. He must accept the horrible sins of necessity in his past and also a passion for a broken female he cannot deny. The legacy of war, protection and survival are all he knows. When Elise finds the only tender part of him, he leaves the sphere before those feelings have a chance to deepen.

King Otto has found fertile ground within the Fragment to germinate like the poisonous spore he is, and plots to ruin the last whole sphere.

Can Calia and Philip be together? Or will the rules which have governed the clans imprison her within a regime not of her choosing? Is Adahy strong enough to overcome his perceived guilt to embrace a chance at happiness with someone as fractured as himself....

When you travel, what do you worry about? It’s always the “other” drivers on the road, am I right? That and where the next rest stop with food is. In Tamara Rose Blodgett’s universe, if that were all her characters had to worry about, the trip would be so much nicer. The Savage Dream tells of the dangerous journey Edwin decrees they will take so the “Rite of Select” may be performed on Calia at the last remaining sphere.

The journey becomes more treacherous with every step, as sickness, injuries and devastating discoveries are made as this ragtag group forges on. Adahy, who is part Band, part Iroquois struggles with his past nightmares and the language barrier that must be broken through, when the frail Elise catches his eye and his heart, he is determined that she will not suffer as those in his past has, no matter the cost. Little does he realize that he will begin making installment payment soon on that vow as the trails come alive with different breeds and races. Lack of food, healthcare and shelter aren’t helping, either. But when one threat is taken care of and another becomes a gifted ally, only an attack by Travelers can stop them now. Innocent to the ways of guns, will death come knocking at the door again or will there be one more unlikely ally to claim?

It would seem that chaos and tension are once again at the heart of Tamara Rose Blodgett’s tale of another world and time that has been tainted by human as their worst. For someone with Ms. Blodgett’s over-active imagination and creative genius there is always a new hook to reel her readers in, and this time is no exception, between illness, attacks and language barriers, what could be a boring journey filled with monotony because a hair-raising adventure with no one knowing what is around the next bend in the trail. You know one thing I noticed that has always been a part of Ms. Blodgett’s signature style, apart from the great dialogue, unexpected events and well, everything is that through it all, there is a sense of camaraderie within this diverse group. Once again, wonderfully drawn characters, colorful and unique, heroes, villains and crazy-wild action are all going on while a budding romance begins to take flight as we race to the end of this addition to the series and find…wait for it, wait for it…yep, full stop, all brakes set…cliffhanger! True Tamara all the way, and I think it’s her ability to write it as she feels it that make her a standout, must read author.

The Savage Dream is an action intense storyline built in the incredible world of Tamara Rose Blodgett's imagination...and whew, what an imagination it is...

Philip, Edwin and Calia are on their way to Calia's clan home to preform “The Rite of the Select”. On the way their trip is filled with challenges and losses beyond their darkest nightmares.

King Otto is busy plotting away within the ranks of the Fragment, preparing to destroy the sphere way of life.

Adahy, the Iroquois, is having difficulty, putting it mildly, to reconciling his reaction to Elise.

There is a new an unexpected threat found in the trees.

Nail biting action, heart wrenching loss and difficult choice pepper this plot keeping you on the edge of your seat.

I found my pulse pounding as I was drawn into the vibrant described but desperately dark world. I will be hanging on to find out what happens next...I do have to say that Blodgett is becoming the queen of cliffhangers and she gives us a doozy at the end of The Savage Dream.

I received The Savage Dream from Tamara Rose Blodgett in exchange for a honest review.

Lacked Tamara's usual magic but it was still quite good. I highly recommend this series if you haven't started it yet.

Well

What happens to Philip, Calia, Adahay, Elise and Edwin once they leave the sphere was totally unexpected. A tad confusing, scary, and downright bizarre. I feel like Him does, that there is something else going on here. Ugh

Jim

So excited for the introduction of this modern character Jim toward the end of this series. He brings humor and familiar language along that way. He is fabulous!!!

I don't even know with The Savage Dream. I really don't. I thought it was the last book of the series, but with that ending, it most certainly is not. That is the worst cliffhanger in existence, and I want more! What is even going on!? The world the author has created just keeps getting weirder and more complex, and what even is going on?!

The Savage Dream takes us completely Outside. Calia, Elise, Phillip, Edwin, and the Red Men are all heading back to their homes. Adahy and his chief are just traveling with the Band until their reach their people, and then they're parting ways. Except that their camp is empty with the exception of some corpses. The fragment have passed through, and the chief demands that they go save the missing women. That's easier said than done, since there are way more fragment, and Elisa and Calia are really sick and can't travel much further. I found it incredibly frustrating (in a good way) that after everything these characters have been through, a disease was going to be their untimely end!

Then The Savage Dream gets really weird. I honestly don't know if I liked the weirdness that was introduced or not. On one hand, it's awesome, because it's so weird and unexpected and I need to know more! But on the other, it really just came out of nowhere and doesn't make sense, since it adds a kind of paranormalness to this other wise science based world. I don't know. It was just really freaking weird.

Once things are past, and you think the characters on their way home, The Savage Dream ends. Literally, it just ends. There is no warning. They're on their way, and then.

Wow! I did not see that coming! Throwing a human into the mix give this a whole new dimension...he made me laugh out loud! The new characters are fast throwing a chink in the armor of the band. I love how headstrong these women are even in the face of combat and illness. And, the testosterone is almost overpowering at times. I feel like my eyes have been opened to so much, but it has left me with new questions. Between the brilliant backdrops, diverse language barriers and the vibrant characters, I felt like I was carried away to a world I almost knew. It left me wanting the next volume.

This was another amazing read by Tamara Rose Blodgett! The cliffhanger at the end had me frantically searching for more--THAT CAN'T BE IT?! I said aloud, but knowing Blodgett's affinity for leaving the reader on pins and needles, I knew it was. Can't wait for the next novel in the series!

This novel introduces us to a new entity, a new threat unlike any that has come before it in the Savage world, and I loved the introduction of these new characters, especially as their emergence changes things, for all dimensions.

Review to come.

Edwin pushes Calia to go to her home clan by the sea even though she isn't happy about it. Especially doing the trip in winter. And apart from fighting the Fragment all the time, there are now even more enemies to be faced during the nightmare trek. And what is the deadly disease that Elise and Calia get? And why doesn't it affect the men? Another ripper and still more to come. Cannot wait.

What a huge let down! I feel like her books are getting shorter and shorter. There was hardly time for further character development. It ended on a cliff hanger but I don't know if I'll anxiously await the next book as has been my habit.
