I was pulled into the story from the get go! The fact that I have my own blond curly haired 2 year old boy meant I was sucked in even more! This was a great suspense and I liked the characters. The writing style had me wanting for more and the character development was just ok in my opinion. There were a lot of things repeated over and over again that I felt were unnecessary. I enjoyed the read.

Cassie’s story pulls you in immediately and does not let you go until you have finished the last page. Hansen is an expert at writing suspense and I could not put the book down. I had to know how everything would turn out! I loved Cassie’s family from her sweet mom, protective dad, and very protective and loving brothers. They were a wonderful family and I felt like they were real people. Parker was so sweet, thoughtful, and handsome. I am a long time fan and reader of Hansen’s and she has still got it. Blending the perfect amount of romance with mystery, and a touch of faith in God, Don’t Say a Word is the perfect read for any fan of romantic suspense. (LDS content)I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been reading books by Jennie Hansen since I was a teenager. And I have LOVED each and every one I have read. You can imagine my excitement to see a new full length novel by her. I was so happy. And with good reason. She writes such amazing suspenseful books.

I loved Cassie in this book. She’s the type of girl to spend hours riding her horse. And to camp out on her families property near the mountains. Imagine her surprise when she finds a little boy, all by himself on a trail one day. She, of course, packed him up to care for him. And since no one knew who he belonged to, she was made his caretaker. Cassie needed little Bub, she had just been dumped by her fiancé of several years. And it was nice to have something to think about.

But that’s when bad things started happening to her family. I loved the suspense of this part. The reader sees things through Cassie’s eyes, so they don’t know what’s happening or why until she does. It was so great!

The reader also sees things through Parker’s eyes. I loved these two together. They both, along with Cassie’s family, care for Bub and what’s happening to them. And they all want the bad guys to be caught and locked up.

I loved this book. It was so suspenseful. I never knew what was going to happen to the characters next. Or why. Pick this one up soon!

Don't Say A Word was a great suspense book with the right touch of romance. Readers are pulled into the novel from the very first. Once you get reading you will be hooked. I know I was.

Cassie is an excellent main character. I loved her determination, loyalty, and courage to forge ahead despite many trials going on. Parker is also fantastic. He is very caring and always goes above and beyond in his job as a Deputy. From the beginning, when Parker and Cassie meet there is great interest. I liked the slow burn of the romance. Then, of course, is the sweet 2-year old Bub, that Cassie finds on her father's ranch land. This little guy was so endearing I loved him from the start. The whole mystery behind this child and why he's out on his own in the wild kept me reading faster and faster. There are many harrowing moments for Cassie, Bub, and Parker as they try and protect this little boy from the "bad" guys.

I've read other books by this author and this is right up there as one of her best. The suspense and action are written well, the emotional journeys of the characters pull you in, and the romance is clean and just right. Don't Say A Word should be the next book on your To-Read List.

This was a really good suspense by Jennie Hansen. I haven’t read any by her before so this was a new experience for me. I thought she had the right amount of suspense and romance to keep me engaged in the story. I also loved how she included trusting in God to help the characters through the stressful situations that they were facing. I would read other books by her.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Great suspense with a little romance!

Jennie Hansen weaves a wonderfully captivating story full of intrigue and excitement. With great characters and a setting that provides a perfect backdrop to pull the reader into the story, this is a great book for a cold winter evening.

I haven’t read a Jennie Hansen story in a long time, and was thrilled when I got the opportunity to read this one. I love clean suspense and mysteries and this one grabbed me right from the start. I was immediately pulled into Cassie James’ story. It’s a fast-paced mystery with a little romance. The suspense had me turning pages late into the night because I had to know what was going to happen and find out who was behind everything.

I received a complimentary copy to review but also I listened to the audiobook on Deseret Bookshelf. I finished the audiobook in a day because I didn’t want to stop listening to it. The story is that engaging. If you like murder mysteries and suspenseful stories this is one you should definitely read. I can’t wait for another story from Jennie Hansen. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Intense and satisfying

Cassie and Parker went through a lot before they had an opportunity to try a relationship between them. Don’t Say a Word is an intense and suspenseful book. I had a difficult time getting anything done. I wanted to just keep reading and reading. I needed to know what happened next. This story pulled me right in and kept me until the very end. If you like stories of suspense with a bit of romance then read this book. You won’t be sorry.

We listened to the audio version of this on the way to Idaho for Thanksgiving. Cassie finds a baby in the woods and takes care of him through multiple attacks by a hitman on the family. She goes into the witness protection program narrowly escapes when her house blows up. She marries the deputy who happens to be lds and went undercover with her and survives the car accident at the end of the book.

Buckle up with this one and it is a wide ride. The intensity of the story was non-stop. Constant peril and unrealistic near death moments filled the pages of this book but it all worked to keep me totally engaged. Very hard to put down. I liked the characters and loved the super cheesy ending.

I hate to start a review with the worn out "I don't normally read this genre of book, but..." However it is most assuredly true for me and Jennie's "Don't Say A Word." And what do you know, I really liked it! I am of a similar heritage and love the country this book is set in. A little suspense and mystery never hurt anybody, and the romance, well, was romance.

I have often thought of how writers conjure up stories and write them in such a way that our imagination takes hold of them and we "see" the story. That was my experience with this one. Great entertainment!

This book was one fast paced and exciting read! I didn't want it to end. I was fully engrossed in the story. If you enjoy suspense, murder mystery stories, this one will definitely keep you on your toes!

I was so excited when I saw that Jennie Hansen had written another book. And a suspense one at that! I might have squealed when I saw it announced. *shrugs shoulders* I've loved her books and reread several of them years and years ago. It always makes me very happy when a favorite author publishes a book.

I listened to the audiobook and didn't want to turn it off at all. I kept finding excuses to have it playing while I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned...I had a very clean house that day. *giggles*

Content: Clean with some moments of peril and suspense. There are a couple murders throughout the book but not described in detail. Some kissing but nothing further.

Happy Reading!!!

3.5 rounded up. The action scenes weren’t overdone, the story engaging, the settings familiar. There were some unnecessary explanations about why the main characters were doing things and a few too many “beloved” pets etc. but a good read (or listen on audio book)

It’s been a long time since Jennie Hansen had a book released and I was thrilled to get a copy to review. If I haven’t been extremely busy with work, I probably would’ve read this in a more timely manner. But I lost some sleep the last couple of days as I got to the climax of the story and had a really hard time putting it down. I love Jennie’s works, because you usually have a taste of country, suspense, romance, and some connection to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I highly recommend this read to male and female alike if you enjoy a good suspense with a side of romance.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I feel like there were some pretty unrealistic parts. Like a two year old being able to throw cookies at a man’s face with “surprising accuracy.” Aside from the unlikely ability of a two year old to have that great of an aim and to hit his target more than once, would a two year old who is terrified enough of a person to start hysterically screaming and crying, have the emotional regulation requires to pull himself together to even think to start throwing cookies at said person??

A few other unlikely scenarios I have a problem with are, 1. would a father, who knew *his* father was out to kill him and his family, join the army where he would inevitably be deployed and leave his wife and child unprotected from a professional crime ring leader? 2. Would the FBI really make that many mistakes when placing someone in protective custody? 3. Would a professional hit man really make that many mistakes? 4. If you made friends with someone who ended up being mistaken for you and who had almost died as a result, would you not reach out to them once the threat was over? It bothered me that there was no resolution there. 5. It seems unlikely that the FBI would put a city deputy in charge of protecting a person in their care, especially after two of their agents were killed by the hit man. 6. If this were a real life situation, I doubt (for a lot of reasons) that this child would have been placed in her care in the first place.

That being said, it was a fast paced, suspenseful read with some good, clean romance. Over all it was an okay story.

It seems like forever since I devoured a romantic suspense story by Jennie Hansen. Don’t Say a Word is a marvelous addition to her work.
Cassie James is a strong heroine. She finds a little boy out in the wilderness of her father’s land in Montana. It seems that the book is set near Hamilton, Montana but more rural and among ranches.
Parker Grafton is a strong leading man. He is a deputy in the county where Cassie is living with her parents and brothers. He gets involved after Cassie finds the little boy.
It makes no sense to anyone why there would be someone after the little boy Cassie found, but there is and that is where the story takes off.
The evil seeking little Bobbie offers edge of your seat suspense. Will there finally be a safe haven for Cassie and little Bobbie at the end of the day?
The main characters are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The values are presented accurately, and it influences how the characters respond to the threats they face in the story. It is really no different from how books published by other Christian publishers have mention of God in their pages.
I enjoyed reading Don’t Say a Word.

Cassie James has just returned home after a broken engagement. She goes riding her favorite horse, when she stumbles upon a toddler in the woods. Seemingly alone. That’s strange. She knows everyone in her little Montana town, and he doesn’t look familiar.
So begins an adventure of danger and intrigue while trying to protect this little boy and find out who he is.
LDS fiction set in Montana and surrounding areas, no swearing or anything objectionable by the gentle reader.
I find romance stories a little sappy but this one was more involved in the mystery to be solved than the romance. Good story.

So much fun! I've been reading a lot of fantasy and historical fiction lately so it was nice to fit a thriller into the mix. If you're looking for a clean and enjoyable thriller this one is a great option!

Note: Although this book centers around characters that are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you don't need a lot of prior knowledge to understand the majority of the book.

Content: violence (gun violence, murder, animal injured, a dead calf is found, horse is severely whipped), clean otherwise

4.5 stars- Ooh, I've really been enjoying Jennie Hansen's books and this one is top of the list. This book is my favorite genre: clean, thriller, mysteries, with a touch of romance. I loved the strong protagonist who was smart and did what she had to. And the addition of a lost child made the story all the more compelling.

I enjoyed this story a lot and thought it was a good read. A couple of times the point of view would shift from one paragraph to the next, and that is a pet peeve of mine. Otherwise, it was a good read.

Loved the book!

A very exciting book. Happy that the characters in the book were worthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints!
