Neat little sequel :)

Mi sono davvero divertita con questo secondo episodio delle avventure di Jessica Wild, che finalmente sta per sposarsi con l'uomo che ama, Max Wainwright, e non con quel fintone del suo ex-capo, Anthony Milton.
Quasi subito c'è un colpo di scena che porta a una situazione che sembra davvero senza via d'uscita e, come nel precedente romanzo, alla fine c'è una svolta ancora più eclatante che stravolge tutto.
Ed è stato divertentissimo incontrare di nuovo i personaggi di Helen, di Ivana, Sean e Giles, il fioraio gay, ora promosso a wedding planner (e meno male, perché Fenella era insopportabile), a cui si aggiunge ora la meravigliosa Caroline, la nuova assistente di Jessica, di specchiata onestà e lealtà.
E quindi niente, cinque stelle perché mi ha fatto stare bene, con la speranza che il terzo episodio sia gradevole quanto questo!

Around page 75-100, I wasn't enjoying the story so much, which was disappointing as I had bought myself this book (in paperback). Then the book improved, and I enjoyed all the twists and turns!
You could technically read this book as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read Book 1, The Importance of Being Married first. I won't go into the plot as I hadn't read the back blurb when I started the book and I preferred that.
Onto Book 3!
P.S. I love the London setting. Gemma Townley trying to explain Canary Wharf was amusing. I agree that it feels pretty soulless. I'm not sure why my friend loves it.

Jessica Wild has finally met the man of her dreams, Max, and is set to marry him. After her disastrous attempts at marrying Anthony for her inheritance, Jessica has realised the error of her ways and is busy planning her fabulous wedding to Max as well as working hard for his advertising agency.
But when Jessica suspects Max of having an affair, her world falls apart. She goes out and gets drunk with her friend Helen, and makes a huge mistake, one that could affect not only her and Max’s relationship but also their business too. Will Jessica be able to right the wrongs she has done and make everything okay in time for their wedding, or has Jessica been too wild this time, even for Max?
The book is the sequel to Gemma Townley’s previous book The Ideal Marriage. I picked that one up last year in the shops because of its fab green cover and loved it, so I was very excited to find out that there was a sequel. A Wild Affair carries on with the theme of the previous cover but is in tones of pink and is lovely and bright so will definitely stand out in the shops. Even though it is over a year since I read about Jessica and her adventures, I slipped back easily into the story and full credit goes to Townley for her writing! Writing is definitely in her blood though because her sister is none other than Sophie Kinsella! Anyway, back to the review.
The book picks up shortly where An Ideal Marriage left off with Max and Jessica now a couple, and the two of them are planning their wedding and running the advertising agency that Max bought from Anthony, Jessica’s ex “fiance”. I think that the book would be fine to read even if you haven’t read the prequel because things are explained well (although a few omissions are made that I would have preferred to have been in there) but aside from that, I think the book is good enough to be a stand alone as well, which is very important for sequels because not everyone reads the first in a set or sometimes realise that a book is a sequel!
Jessica is as good a character as ever, and I probably liked her more in this book to be honest. The whole situation in this book was a lot more believable that in the first book, and I felt that Townley has written the emotions of the main character extremely well, as well as keeping up a few smaller sub storylines as well. I warmed to Jessica right away, and I wanted everything to be okay for her, even if she did seem to deserve what was happening in her life at the time. My favourite new character is someone important to Jessica and Max, I don’t want to spoil it by saying any more than that! This character was a great addition to the book, and really brightened up the proceedings somewhat with their meddling.
The pace of the book was very good, starting with the planning of the wedding, and ending in an unexpected way. A lot happens in what is a shortish book but I was gripped for the entire length of it and didn’t find any of it boring or wanting to skip any of it at all. I liked the twists and turns, there were a few of them and they keep you wanting to know more and unsure if it’s all going to work out for the best in the end! What I liked about this book is how important the lesser seen characters are in the book too as well as the main ones, they are all important to the story and are well written and very believable.
If you read and enjoyed Townley’s previous book An Ideal Marriage, you’ll want to read this to carry on the adventure with Jessica Wild, but if you haven’t discovered this author before, this book is a great place to start! It’s enjoyable, funny, has great characters that you can enjoy reading about and it moves pretty quickly too, I finished it in just a few evenings. There is actually a third book due out next January (2011) called An Ideal Wife so presumably that will be carry on the story even further and I’m looking forward to that! Townley is a talented writer, and this book shows how Townley is improving book on book! I loved it, and can definitely recommend it.

Worum geht's?
Im zweiten Teil der Wild-Wedding-Reihe soll es endlich soweit sein. Jessica und ihr Max heiraten. Doch es sollte doch anders kommen als alle glaubten, denn eine Person, von der man dachte, man würde sie nie wieder sehen, tauchte plötzlich auf und ein Geheimnis, das ausgeplaudert wurde, entpuppte sich zum großen Skandal. Perfekt für die anstehende Hochzeit, oder etwa nicht?
Schreibstil/Gestaltung:
Auch Band 2 wurde aus der Sicht der Protagonistin Jessica Wild geschrieben.
Der Schreibstil ist wie im ersten Band flüssig und man kommt gut durch die Seiten. Auch die verschiedenen Charaktere, die man unter anderen auch schon in Band 1 kennen gelernt hat, wurden liebevoll mit eingebunden. Für mich Stacheln besonders Giles und Ivana hervor. Besonders die Passagen, bei denen Ivana zum Zug kam und man durch ihre Aussagen merkte, dass sie noch "Probleme" mit der englischen Sprache hatte. Sehr sympathisch.
Meine Meinung:
Anders als bei Teil 1 musste ich mich nicht durch das Buch quälen. Ich weiß auch nicht, wieso es mir im ersten Teil so schwer viel. Aber hier war es deutlich besser. Während man in Band 1 nur darauf hinfieberte, die Hochzeit innerhalb von 50 Tagen abzuhalten, wurden in Band 2 deutlich mehr Ungereimtheiten eingebunden. Es gab viel mehr zu bewältigen, was mir den Lesespaß gelassen hat.
Mein Fazit:
Eine süße Geschichte, bei der man auf jeden Fall wissen möchte, wie es nun in Band 3 weiter geht, denn irgendwie glaube ich, dass den Leser da noch einiges mehr erwartet.

In general, the book is good. It follows the same vibe as the first one of the series.
But, it has a point, the first was more funny, Jessica was more funny and less confusing.
Now, sometimes the book is boring.
Maybe if the mistakes she made were more fun, the book would be better.
In the end, the book is still good, and the things the people say about it didn't pay off.
So if you like this kind of silly book, read with out fear.

This is a very sweet, fun and entertaining book. The writing style is breezy and easy to read, but at the same time there are quite a few twists and turns which will take you by surprise. It's the second book in a trilogy featuring Jessica Wild, a character who is very endearing, well-meaning and loveable. At the start of the book, Jessica's life is going wonderfully: she thought up and manages the Project Handbag campaign at the advertising agency where she works, and is blissfully planning her upcoming wedding to her dreamy fiancé, Max. Max is such a wonderful, likeable character and perfect as a hero; so caring towards Jess, funny, affectionate and romantic. Actually, their relationship is one of my favourite parts of the book; the love between them is so heartwarming and moving, especially when you feel how much Jess loves Max and how much they care for each other.
Unfortunately, things go horribly wrong when Jessica suspects Max of having an affair....she is so upset that she ends up making a terrible mistake and betrays Max in the worst possible way. By the time Jess realises her mistake, (the first twist), it's too late, and the rest of the story sees Jess's perfect world start unravel both professionally and personally.
The supporting characters are all loveable and humorous, I especially like Caroline, Ivana and Helen. They are well written and all have their distinct characteristics so they feel like real people. There is a lot of heart and emotional bits in the story, especially the parts with Jess's mother. I loved Jess's mother, she was such an interesting and sympathetic character, despite her past mistakes. I really like her involvement towards the end of the book, it was so lovely what she did.
Throughout the whole book you really root for Jess and want things to go well for her; she is so bighearted and genuine that you can't help but love her. Luckily things all end happily and there are lots of funny bits on the road there, so it is the kind of read that will make you cheer up and feel happy.
The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is because I slightly preferred the first one, The Importance of Being Married. But I will still probably reread this at some point, because it's such a happy, lovely book.

Non mi dilungherò molto su questo libro. Abbiamo lasciato la pasticciona Jess dopo aver ereditato 4 milioni di sterline, mandato a quel paese l’odioso Anthony e aver confessato il suo amore per Max.
Bene, non è passato molto tempo da questi eventi, Max e Jess si sposano, tutto procede per il meglio, i preparativi, finalmente l’abito giusto e per fortuna lo SPOSO giusto, finchè Max comincia a ricevere delle strane telefonate. Dopo varie situazioni, l’unica cosa che Jess capisce è che si tratta di una donna, possibile che Max, il suo dolce Max, la tradisca??? Per la nostra pasticcioni purtroppo si, e ne combina di tutti i colori, si ubriaca di brutto, grazie anche all’odiosissimo Hugh, che lavorava con lei tempo fa!
Da questo momento ne succedono di tutte i colori, il matrimonio viene cancellato ben due volte, facciamo tre XD La donna sconosciuta con cui Jess vede Max non è la sua amante, non è una cliente, ma tutto gira intorno all’infanzia di Jess! Entrando nella sua vita, non le rende le cose facili, se fossi stata al suo posto, le avrei scaricato addosso tutto il rancore del mondo e l’avrei considerata il male peggiore che mi potesse capitare, ma non sarebbe stata Jess se non si fosse comportata così…… solo verso la fine XD
La cover è stupenda, come quella del suo predecessore, e per fortuna stavolta non ho trovato nessun dialogo eccessivamente lungo su cui obiettare, e non ho tentato di buttare il kindle giù dalla finestra :P
Adesso però voglio sapere cosa succede nel terzo libro: Una moglie ideale. Cos’altro combinerà la nostra Jess??? Dalla trama ho paura, lei con in mano tutta la società??? Tremo e allo stesso tempo sorrido già XD

Auch im zweiten Roman der Autorin findet sich viel Witz und Charme in der Hauptfigur Jessica wieder. Anfangs wird auch auf das erste Buch referenziert, was es Lesern die vielleicht den ersten Roman nicht gelesen haben erleichtert, sich dennoch in der Thematik zurecht zu finden. Die sympathische Hauptfigur stolpert auch in diesem Buch von vielen verzwickten Situationen in ausgewachsene, spannende, auswühlende und zugleich lustige Dramen – nicht, ohne eine Spur Charme zu hinterlassen, unterstützt vor allem durch die liebevoll gestalteten Tagträumereien. Im zweiten Roman finden sich auch kleine neu eingearbeitete Details zum ersten Roman (zB. Herkunft einiger Personen, Eigenschaften, etc). Die Kapitel Längen fühlen sich etwas länger an als im ersten Buch, dennoch in Ordnung. Auch in diesem Buch wird es aber der Hälfte dramatisch und spannend, es werden aber viele Einzelheiten vorerst außen vor gelassen um dem Leser die Möglichkeit zur eigenen fantasievollen Weiterentwicklung der Geschichte zu lassen. Teilweise auch ein wenig überspitzt, aber dennoch witzig dramatisch. Der Schreibstil der Autorin kann als flüssig und leichtfüßig beschrieben werden. Es handelt sich hier um keine besonders anspruchsvolle Lektüre, perfekt geeignet für ein entspannendes Bad oder einen Abend auf der Terrasse mit einem Glas Wein. Hauptsächlich wird der Leser zum Schmunzeln und Lachen angeregt, die romantischen Szenen halten sich in Grenzen, auch die dramatischen Ereignisse werden mit viel Witz und Charme umspielt.

Heiraten will gelernt sein ist der zweite Teil der Verliebt, verlobt, verheiratet Reihe von Gemma Townley. Genau wie bei Teil 1 war ich sofort in dem Bann des Buches und habe es in einem Rutsch durchgelesen. Ein wenig hat mir der Witz von Teil 1 gefehlt und einige Personen gingen mit einfach nur auf den Sender, da sie teilweise wirklich anstrengend waren. Was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, waren die kleinen Rückblicke zu Teil eins, was dort passiert ist. Ich denke auch jemand der Teil 1 nicht kennt fühlt sich hier sehr gut unterhalten.
Jessica und Max planen ihre Hochzeit. Da Max sich sehr eigenartig verhält, er sogar mit einer anderen Frau beim Dinner beobachtet wird, wird Jess misstrauisch und denkt er betrügt sie. Um sich abzulenken geht sie mit ihren Freunden in eine Bar, dort begeht sie einen großen Fehler, der ihre Hochzeit mit Max und auch ihren Job gefährdet. Max hat Jess tatsächlich etwas verheimlicht aber es ist nicht so wie sie denkt. Ob sich die Beiden noch einmal zusammen raufen können?
Ich mag diesen typischen trockenen englischen Humor sehr. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und man kann einfach nicht mit dem Lesen aufhören. Gerade auch in diesem Teil gibt es einige Wendungen, mit denen ich so nicht gerechnet habe, und gerade die machen das Buch umso interessanter. Ich habe mich auf jeden Fall sehr gefreut, das es tatsächlich einen 3 Teil von der Reihe geben wird und freue mich schon sehr darauf weiter zu lesen.

Jessica und Max planen ihre Hochzeit. Da Max sich sehr eigenartig verhält, er sogar mit einer anderen Frau beim Dinner beobachtet wird, wird Jess misstrauisch und denkt er betrügt sie. Um sich abzulenken geht sie mit ihren Freunden in eine Bar, dort begeht sie einen großen Fehler, der ihre Hochzeit mit Max und auch ihren Job gefährdet. Max hat Jess tatsächlich etwas verheimlicht aber es ist nicht so wie sie denkt. Ob sich die Beiden noch einmal zusammen raufen können?
Ich mag diesen typischen trockenen englischen Humor sehr. Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und man kann einfach nicht mit dem Lesen aufhören. Gerade auch in diesem Teil gibt es einige Wendungen, mit denen ich so nicht gerechnet habe, und gerade die machen das Buch umso interessanter. Ich habe mich auf jeden Fall sehr gefreut, das es tatsächlich einen 3 Teil von der Reihe geben wird und freue mich schon sehr darauf weiter zu lesen.

Eine Nacht mit Folgen - oder doch nicht?
Jessica Wild und Max wollen heiraten. Die Hochzeitsvorbereitungen laufen auf Hochtouren und die beiden freuen sich auf ihre gemeinsame Zukunft. Doch plötzlich ist sich Jessica nicht mehr sicher, ob Max ehrlich zu ihr ist, nachdem sie herausfindet, dass eine fremde Frau ihren Verlobten zu kontaktieren versuchte.
Aufgrund des Verdachtes, dass ihr Verlobter sie womöglich betrügt, geht sie mit ihrer Freundin aus, um auf andere Gedanken zu kommen. Sie trifft den ehemaligen Arbeitskollegen Hugh Bart, der nun bei der Konkurrenz arbeitet. Nach einigen Drinks geht sie mit nach Hause ohne zu ahnen in welches Chaos sie sich damit begibt – privat wie auch beruflich.
Nach dem ersten Teil „Verlieben will gelernt sein“, hab ich mich auf etwas mehr Jessica und Max eingestellt. Tatsächlich spielt die Beziehung der beiden nicht die Hauptrolle, vielmehr geht es um die geheimnisvolle Unbekannte, die Max angerufen hat und um das Geschehen in der Firma, die Max leitet und bei der Jessica angestellt ist.
Die Charaktere sind authentisch beschrieben. Die Geschichte ist unterhaltsam, zieht sich aber in der Mitte etwas hin, dafür wird es am Schluss wieder spannender mit einer unerwarteten Wendung.
Das Buch liest sich auch problemlos, wenn man den ersten Teil nicht gelesen hat.

There's not much to say about this book, it's basic chick lit from start to finish. I didn't particularly enjoy it as much as I did the first, which was a real disappointment, the plot was just lacking in areas. Like, what was the point of bringing the main character's mother back. It's a book, not a soap opera. And I guess that's exactly WHY I didn't like this book, too much drama. Jessica getting drunk and believing she slept with Hugh, led to not only driving her crazy but the reader. And I wasn't a fan that she didn't tell Max that she was the snitch, maybe he didn't need to know but she drove ME crazy during the entire book and in the end she tells/doesn't tell him anything. I think that he loved her enough to forgive her for it.

This is a typical chick lit book. I have read most of Townley's books. I started reading her novels because she is Sophie Kinsella's sister I really enjoy her novels. This is the second book in a series althought I'm not sure how many more books Townley is planning on writing. I enjoyed this book because it was an easy light read but at the same time the main character is a bit frustrating. She continues to dodge the truth and as a reader you just know that things are going to end in disaster. With that said, you also know that as typical chick lit, things will work themselves out in the end if only the protanganist comes clean and confesses to her wrongdoings. I give this book a 3 out of 5.

The story of Jessica Wild is a roller coaster ride of emotions. A Wild Affair takes us along on the journey through a very dramatic period in Jessica's life, a period of uncertainty, where Jessica often feels her world is being turned upside down.
Jessica is a gem of a character - she's sweet, compassionate, giving, loyal and dedicated, not only to her job, but most especially to her loved one. All those characteristics are put to the test in A Wild Affair as we find out who Jessica really is. We run through the emotions along with Jessica throughout the story.
A definite good read!

Again another recommendation from a friend that knows my love of 'girly' books. This did not disappoint. I didn't realize that it was #2 in a series but there was just enough explanation of the first so you were able to understand where Jess was in her life. Still made me want to read the first one to see how she ended up being the character that she is in this one.

To be fair, this is not my normal genre of book, but after some very heavy non-fiction I thought this looked like a light fun read. I was a little bit disappointed. The characters were not all together very likable and it was hard to get invested in the romance. There were some elements of the plot that could have been developed more and some parts that could have been skipped. It was a nice distraction read, but I think there are other books in the genre that do it better.

I like a good "Chinck-Lit" book now and then and this did not dissapoint. I only wish I had known it was a series and read the first one before this one. However, tha author did a good job making it easy to pick up and not feel totally lost. I think the reason this was so good was because the story had good substance in addition to being fun to read.

I'm not too sure what to think of this book. I liked it, but I felt that it could have ended so much sooner. I was not expecting the ending at all. That's probably why I enjoyed the book as much as I did - when I expected one thing to happen - the unthinkable did.

This is book two of the Jessica Wild trilogy. In this novel Jessica is to marry the man she loves, which almost doesn't happen when Jessica has one "Wild" drunken night because she thinks her fiancee is having an affair. She couldn't be more wrong!! Again, the author puts in a surprising twist at the end. Was an enjoyable and easy read.

I tried to like this book. I like the author, but the heroine is just awful. This is the second book in the series, and I hoped that it would improve upon the first book; it did not. Jessica is completely unlikeable and it is hard to root for her. Obviously this is chick-lit and everything will end happily, but I don't feel like the characters deserved it.

I'm just wild about Wild! Jessica Wild, that is! I loved every second of Gemma Townley's wonderful novel, filled with romance, betrayal and corporate rivalry. "A Wild Affair" seems to be part of a trilogy, but even though it's the first one I've read, all the missing pieces were filled in just enough to entice me into reading more books featuring this appealing heroine!
