As usual, Urvashi Pitre's books are wonderful and her recipes, unlike many other cookbook authors, just work (she and Jeffrey Eisner are my go-to authors for all things Instant Pot and the two I recommend or gift to everyone I know who wants to try cooking with an Instant Pot).

In this book she captures two of my interests together, cooking with my Instant Pot and eating a Mediterranean-style diet. I like that her Mediterranean-style diet isn't just traditional foods from Greece, because the Greeks aren't the only people who eat this way. I did find the inclusion of the Cranberry Chutney recipe a little odd, however, as cranberries don't naturally grow in that region (although they do grow a little north of the Mediterranean region). As in all things, the author takes a balanced approach to the recipes she includes, and if it fits into the Mediterranean diet without necessarily being made of all traditional Mediterranean-sourced ingredients, it works. Plus, I love cranberries, so I'm happy to include it on my list.

She starts with a very brief overview of the Mediterranean diet and its benefits, the Instant Pot, and some important terminology to know. Each recipe includes the active time, total time, which Instant Pot functions are used, and the type of pressure release needed, in addition to a decent block of nutritional information. It also includes the number of servings and a series of tags related to dietary needs, time required, and number of ingredients. I like that some of the recipes specify the number of servings is as a side dish. This is usually for things that can serve as either a side dish or a meal.

The recipes are varied, and as she doesn't limit herself to the traditional diet of Greece, there are quite a few recipes from other areas that often don't get included in Mediterranean diet cookbooks. Most of the recipes seem unique compared to her other books, with the only obvious repeats I could find being the spice mixes and other things that are staples in her kitchen.

She doesn't use many specialized ingredients, so most of these recipes just require a trip to any well-stocked grocery store. Luckily, as Mediterranean-style eating is becoming more popular, most major grocery stores stock just about everything in her ingredients lists. Bon appétit!

This cookbook description declared
“Instant Pot miracle Mediterranean diet cookbook : 100 simple and tasty recipes inspired by one of the world's healthiest diets”

And that is what it contained. 100 recipes that were just ok. There was nothing new or different or earth shattering. Nothing I had to instantly prepare.

Best part of the book were the universal install instructions found in the front.
They were a great review for me.

I borrowed this from the public library to preview. Cook books that are fabulous then get purchased from Bookies.com and added to my collection. (200+)
So, so no longer cuts it.

Trust Urvashi

This is my fourth Urvashi Pitre cookbook. They are all amazing! I'm excited to try almost every recipe in this latest book. I always #TrustUrvashi after so many fabulous recipes in her earlier books.

I really liked the recipes in this book, there were so many Mediterranean recipes that are so fast to prepare with an Instant Pot or other pressure cooker. Also really good tips on using an Instant Pot and lots of great recipes that fit in with the Mediterranean diet. I like that there are recipes to make your own yogurt and spice blends too.

The Mediterranean Diet is probably my favourite way to eat. While searching for instant pot recipes, I came across this book from my library. Stand outs for us: Dilled Artichokes with Potatoes and Peas; and Spicy Pulled Pork.

Thinking about buying this one to have for keeps 😉

Love this cookbook from Urvashi Pitre's collection. Tried the Indian saag on zoodles, and it was delicious! I had to buy this cookbook with a book store gift card I received!

This was good, and the formatting is still fantastic, but I was somewhat less tempted by these recipes than other of her cookbooks.
