Not from the war I’m bringing. Remember when I said friendly and fae don’t usually go together? Yeah, I shouldn’t have forgotten that little fact.
That godsdamned fae better watch his back because everything I’ve fought so hard for is on the line. I’ll tear his world apart before I let him ruin mine.
Hell hath no fury like a stubborn phoenix with a whole lot of anger issues.
Will Veronica finally get her happy ending... ...or will she have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people she loves?
Curl up, get comfy, and have the tissues ready.
WINGS OF MERCY is the 7th and FINAL book in The Last Phoenix series, an urban fantasy romance containing fast-paced action, snarky humor, portal travel, a variety of shifters, a hearty dose of swearing, and a healthy splash of fated mates romance.
Stephanie Mirro writes bold, adventurous fantasy for readers who love a little heat with their heartbreak, and maybe a splash of chaos. As a proudly neurodivergent author, she creates fierce, complex characters—neurodivergent ones included—who tackle impossible odds armed with sharp wit and questionable life choices. When not crafting mythology-rich worlds or morally grey heroes, Stephanie can be found bingeing heist movies, searching for her next caffeine fix, or accidentally setting things on fire in the name of creativity.
Well, this is it. This is the last book in the series, and I am not sure I can let it go. This last book has Veronica planning a showdown with her nemesis, the one who destroyed her family. The only problem is that she’ll have to let an enemy become a friend for a time to vanquish him. I was drawn in immediately like I always have been in this series with this concluding title, and it never let me go. I was also really teary-eyed at the end with how things ended. I would love to see some of the side characters get their own series, too. What a great conclusion to a great series! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This was such a long series, i dragged ,y feet over reading this book. My attention waned. The author explains way too much for each book. For example, she would explain every situation that happened in the prior books, every time said situation came up. I dont need recaps EVERY TIME. once? Sure. Twice is pushing it. It killed the storyline for me. Also there were so many characters to keep track of it got confusing.
The ending was nice, some twists i didn’t see. I highly considered just skipping to 80% and finishing from there. Alas i didn’t. There were nice surprises….
A couple of unexpected twists, some laugh out loud moments, some crying moments and lots of action made for a very interesting read. Absolutely loved the ending and would definitely recommend reading the series.
4.5 Stars This is the end. The last book in the series (apart from the novella afterwards, which should be enjoyed chronologically after this series, but for all intents and purposes this is the last book). Veronica and company have their work cut out for them with that annoying Fae and his trouble making. And the quest to stop Collin has some twists and some turns, where perhaps enemies become tentative allies, but should you really trust them? Jury's out on that. This book is filled with action and adventure (plus steamy times!), with all of those loose ends being taken care of. The creative name calling was a nice touch for the characters that absolutely deserved it. I loved the build up to the end, and having both V and Thane getting their own POVs to really set the stage. I also appreciated how much character growth V has in this story. She doesn't impulsively head into danger like she used to and I loved this character growth; it took her long enough! Thane also had some character growth as well, especially with a well timed comment from Angela. The author pulled no punches for death and depravity with the ending. I still hate you, Collin. You are horrible. The ending was wonderful! I especially loved the very end with the gift that was given!
This is the last book in the series; the previous six must be read in order to understand this story. This story has lots of swearing, steam, and quite a bit of violence.
I loved the narrator!! She does a wonderful job and I'm glad she could stick with the series! She differentiates between the male and female voices nicely, and does a good job with the accents, too!
I'm always hesitant to read book series with lot's of books I'm always worried they'll start to fizzle along the way but that wasn't the case with these books chaos just happens to follow Veronica wherever she goes and it keeps her and everyone around her on their toes 😆 she tends to run head first into danger without a second thought.
I've never liked Colin from the very beginning so it wasn't surprising to learn in the last book he's been cowardly pulling the strings from the shadows all along. Veronica and Thane begin to rally their allies from both worlds in order to go head to head with Colin but they initially underestimate how far his reach has gotten and how long he's been planning his seat on the Throne. As Veronica was advised in the last book those who help bring down Colin won't be just allies and she'll have to set her hatred aside to allow some enemies with vital information a spot in their side. Not everyone makes it out alive in the end but everyone knew the price of battle.
I'll definitely miss Thane 😏 and Veronica but this was a good ending to it all 💖
„Wings of Mercy“ is the seventh and final instalment in Stephanie Mirro’s supernatural urban fantasy “The Last Phoenix”, which follows Veronica Neill fate as a very special kind of phoenix, an avian shifter (Falcon) working in which she would describe as ‘acquisition and recovery of magical artifacts’, only her enemies would dare to call her a thief, with the pertinent consequences 😉. But being a thief is the last of her past problems, let us say Veronica’s life since her ‘easy days as mere thief’ has become very ‘interesting’, while handling and sorting almost every sort of ‘problems’: necromancers, Fae, Dragons, and of course vampires, because it must always be vampires, and not exactly your sparkling garden-variety 😊.
Stephanie Mirro’s original blend of history, mythical lore, fast-paced action, and good developed characters thrown in the middle of unexpected situations flows into the story and makes this new series already a must for fans of good-written intelligently constructed UF with a taste for snarky comments, witty humor, a whole menagerie of paranormals and some very sexy guys (both ethereal and tangible 😊) on the side. Veronica (MC) is a very relatable heroine, with a very special brand of humor, the kind Shaw would qualify as ‘accurate observation’ and is commonly mistaken for cynicism 😉, that help her to cope with the eve- evolving impossible situations she finds herself in. The series captivating storyline, which has been stately improving with every new book, has reached the grand finale with a bang. As giving away any so small detail of the plot is just doing a disservice to the story, I just refrain, the blurb should suffice, but believe me you will not be disappointed in the least.
I couldn’t ask for a better ending to this fantastic series I adore so much!!! 🥰 It was a hard, angsty, tragic, unpredictable ride, full of laughter, curses, tears, heartache (you got me for a moment Steph 😭) but, in the end, everything was just perfect, my heart is so full of love and happiness!!! 💞 Of course I’m going to miss my #hotashell Thane, V and the rest of the crew; I could think of several spin-offs Steph, just saying 🤷♀️😁 Thank you for such an incredible adventure I lived along my beloved characters; this amazing series will forever have a special place in my heart!!! ❤
Wings of Mercy by Stephanie Mirro Overall Score ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat Score🔥 plus one steamy scene at the end
Action packed from the very beginning! Stephanie could not have wrapped this series up better! I had a 7 am meeting and was up waaaayyy too late because I COULD NOT put it down. Soooo hopefully I'm not expected to participate much. 🤣 In all seriousness, there were a lot of loose ends that had to be tied up and she tied them up beautifully without it being predictable. AT ALL. Go grab this series finale now!
I feel happy at the way that this series has come to an ending. It has been an Exciting adventure the entire way. I has everything that I love in a story. I think that this ending was Outstanding and I love the way it was brought to a fulfilling close. I Loved It!!! I received an ARC from the Author and I am Leaving This Totally Honest Review because I Choose to and feel that this was an Excellent Finish!!!
Can’t believe this series is over, it was so good! I definitely could see this series being built upon with many more adventures and characters, considering how imaginative and well-built the world is. I have read/listened to this entire series and loved it from start to finish! There are many, many curse words in this series, so reader be forewarned!! xD The author is very friendly and engaging with her fans and supporters also, she is worth following/subscribing.
War!!!! That’s what happens after the Keeper of the Forest is killed after helping our people find the last blade to make what they hope can stop Colin’s power. The army pulls from every community there is in hopes of defeating Colin and his army. So much happens…but the worst is when Thane is killed. And that’s when Veronica loses it. You must read this finale to appreciate everything what each and every character gives to the story.
I loved this series! This is the last book, and Stephanie Mirro really brought all the small clues together. The dragons have Veronica, and they are insisting that she fulfill a promise a great relative made: to mate and give the dragons an offspring. Veronica, who has already mated with Thane, refuses. After a fight and restructuring of leadership, Veronica convinces the dragons they need to come together to take down a common enemy.
Veronica is back and so is all the action, danger, surprises, fun characters and intrigue. Glued to the end to see what she would face this time around and would she get her man. Had to see if she would face and beat her enemy this time and how she would do it. Hooked to the end and loved it all. Had to see how it would all end and not disappointed. Hard to put down and loved it all.
Yes, it has ended…this series was fantastic. So many plots and twist all wound up neatly and in a way that the losses were unfortunate but necessary. V has grown and has to find a way to get to the Otherworld to finish Colin and the Rae’s push to take over the realms once and for all. I love how all the supernaturals got together in this ending.
This was such an emotional conclusion to an epic adventure. Veronica and Thane have both come so far, and with the help of other community members can hopefully put an end to an evil that has been lurking in the shadows for decades…. But there will be great losses, & unexpected allies. I loved this entire adventure, it was full of action, snark, spice, family and friendship.
What an amazingly written story ending! This last book I Could not stop reading. The ending of Victoria's mate was a crushing blow! Then when you thought all else failed ,her true mate is resurrected like a true Phoenix! Hands down excellent work! Thank you for a thrilling series.
Excellent conclusion to this series. The battle was intense. Vee was able to be herself at the end of it and not the goodytwoshoes that was expected. A refreshing change. I am so glad there was good news for the gang. I will miss this world.
I hate endings. However, as endings go, this one isn't horrible. All the loose ends are tied up and though there are twists and turns, it is a fitting ending to the series. Bring tissues, you will definitely need them.
A stunning ending to the series! I loved the epic battle and how Veronica showed her character development. Seeing Kit in action was amazing. Totally enjoyed it!
Man I can’t believe this is the last book! Luckily there is a novella but this world is near and dear to my heart! I loved Veronica’s and Thanes love story! And I love everything by Stephanie Mirro!
This was such an emotional and action-packed experience. I love all the world building and how it ended it'll make you cry and laugh and want to throw it all the way, though
I'm glad I stuck with the series. It was worth it. Books are slow going at first probably could have been cut down some but I like the characters and the narrator does a great job.
