The last thing Jenna wants for her thirtieth birthday is a trip to the Perfect Match dating service, but she is given little choice from her group of friends. What she doesn’t expect is to be “matched” with Ben, her arrogant and handsome ex-boss. Her opinion of Ben hasn’t softened much since he sabotaged her research project by pulling the funding seven years ago.But after a night of passion and the discovery of an alien artifact, Ben and Jenna are forced to come to terms with their past relationship as the device draws them closer together physically and emotionally. They must rely on each other if they are to survive an attack from an old foe—and the force of their own wild attraction.

A romance novelist and short story writer, Christine has over forty publications to her name. She loves to exercise and stops writing just long enough to keep her body in motion too. When she’s not pretending to be a ninja in her basement, she’s most likely spending time with her family and two dogs.

My thoughts on any of my Goodreads reviews are only my opinion as a reader. I don't post anything here that I'd give less than three stars to.

After claiming there isn’t a man on Mars that was for her, for her thirtieth birthday present Jenna Robins is shanghaied by her best friends and taken to the dating service Perfect Match. Deciding to grin and bear it, Jenna is shocked to find the program claims her “perfect match” is Ben Hawthorn. Ben is gorgeous and rich, to be sure, but he also happens to be the one man Jenna loathes since he pulled the funding for her research project seven years ago. But a deal’s a deal, and Jenna promised her friends she’d go on one date with whomever the program set her up with. What Jenna doesn’t expect is the searing attraction between her and Ben. The man she detested is still the arrogant CEO she knew before, but something’s different about him. As desire pulls Ben and Jenna into a night of passion, the two start to learn that perhaps their match wasn’t a fluke.

Then an alien artifact is discovered on a site Jenna is working on. The lovers are drawn into a web of mystery and danger as they try to determine the secrets of the artifact while battling an enemy from Ben’s past. In the midst of it all, Ben and Jenna must come to terms with their growing relationship. Can the two overcome past hurts enough for their out-of-control attraction to lead to love?

I’ll be honest, futuristic stories rarely interest me. Yet, the premise of Primal Elements caught my eye and I had to give it a try. I’m so glad I did, because I absolutely loved it! Primal Elements is sexy, gripping, and wholly delightful.

Ben and Jenna are a classic case of seemingly opposite people attracting, only to find out they’re not very different at all. What’s engaging about this story is that the energy between Ben and Jenna just comes off the page. Jenna is prejudiced against Ben because of his actions years ago and Ben is too prideful to correct her misconceptions about him. Nevertheless, the two are so physically drawn to one another that their desire overcomes their reservations and the resulting passion leads to their romantic realizations.

Besides my enjoyment watching the sparks fly, what endears Primal Elements to me is the likeability of the characters. It’s a pleasure watching them come together because I am rooting for them to overcome the obstacles, internal and external, in their path.
I Joyfully Recommend Primal Elements. It’s a sparkling, fast-paced tale brimming with action, sensuality, and romance. I simply could not put it down and am not-so-secretly hoping Christine d’Abo writes a story for Ben’s charming best friend, Matt. Ms. d’Abo overcame my reluctance towards reading a futuristic romance and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.

An okay spicy sci fi read but not a particularly memorable one.

To many sex scenes that made the story suck a little. Other than that the book was ok.
