There’s a new employee at Futaba’s workplace: Momiji Okudera, whose spirit was broken by a bad boss. Can Futaba and her co-workers bring a smile to Momiji’s face? And how will she affect the office dynamic? Meanwhile, Futaba finally knows what Takeda said during the fireworks, so maybe things will begin to move. This popular workplace romantic comedy is now a hit anime!
New character. Everything else is the same as it ever was.
Eh, if the author doesn’t bother to mix it up, why should I? Even the copy on the back of the volume seems to have given up, promising that feelings are changing when nothing in the story indicates that at all.
Which is fine if you enjoy this series in a fitful sort of way, as I do. Get ready for literally everything staying the same and the usual wistful longing that only characters who aren’t aging can afford to waste multiple volumes on.
Our two main couplings are fine. The new character, an overworked office drone who finds a new life at a better place, is fine and has a pretty funny connection to the story when it’s revealed. Nothing terribly exciting here.
Lots of the stuff you’ve come to expect and nary a change in sight. There’s a fun bit where (almost) everybody speaks English, leading to some amazing segments with Mona. Her hike later on is one of the strongest stories in the volume.
There’s also lots of Yuto and Natsumi and she’s really, really stringing along somebody roughly half her age. It still seems harmless, but she does go a bit far sometimes.
This is just a book you read when you want to spend time with a cast. It’s kind of like the latter volumes of Horimiya, except it started like this so it certainly lacks that series’ freefall into mediocrity. I will say that there’s a nice reflection on adulthood that was a bit more pensive than this usually gets and it was a welcome change of pace.
And, honestly, as long as I get one or two good sections from the book, it’s enough. This one justifies itself when Yuto goes on a ghost hunting trip in his school and Natsumi comes along for the ride. The ending to this one is perfect and makes the whole thing worthwhile.
All the relationships tread water -- literally in one case -- but fortunately the introduction of a somewhat interesting new character with some trauma issues offsets the lack of forward progress.
I think it is time for this series to come to an end. I’m hoping it ends at number 10. This volume did nothing to progress anyone’s storyline and the two main characters are barely in it.
4.5 Stars. Better than the last 2 volumes. The new character is a pleasant surprise and a great addition to the cast. The back cover of this volume does seem to state a lie but I'm hoping that it's fulfilled in the next volume. Overall hilarious as always and the main 2 couples finally feel like they're couples without having to outright state it.
I still like the series but it's becoming redundant. We are being introduced to new characters but the root stories are recycled and at this point it's been like two years and there is nothing going on with the main couple. I legit think they are just friends. Igarashi is just really appreciative of her Senpai and Senpai T is just loving her cooking. There is nothing romantic about anything going on here. I don't know... Now there is a Vol9 but I don't want to read the same thing over and over again...
Loved it! The characters are so cute. The story is fun with fun a storyline. Takeda and Igarashi are adorable together and I wish they would actually get together. Eagerly waiting for the next volume.
