Destination Wedding

Rate this book
Two years ago Royal walked in on his husband Bobby in bed with another man, leaving him a single dad with a three year old boy and a baby girl, who he loves with all his heart. Now his ex and the other man are getting married and they want the kids in the wedding.
Logan received divorce papers when his husband Rick cheated on him, leaving him with a four year old son and another child on the way. He resents having to let his ex have his son every second weekend, but is happy he doesn't have to share his little girl.
When Royal gets to his room at the destination wedding resort, he meets Logan and the two men get along like a house on fire, commiserating over the fact that their exes cheated with each other, are getting married, and that they want the kids to be a part of the ceremony.
Commiseration becomes friendship, and the kids all consider each other siblings. Can Royal and Logan find more than friendship with each other?

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

This genre is my absolute favorite story Guys with Kids and this book did not disappoint. Royal and Logan both have ex's who cheated on them and then expect their kids to attend their wedding to each other, that's right both Logan and Royal's ex's are marrying each other. The story is about the relationship of both Royal and Logan and their kids. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more in this series.

When Royal walked in on his husband Bobby, cheating with a man named Rick, it left him as a single man raising their two toddler children effectively by himself. Royal loves his now five and three year old children more than anything – but now Bobby and Rick are getting married they want their kids – including the young son Rick has with his ex-husband Logan – involved in the wedding. Royal and Logan are both still trying to get their lives somewhat under control and the routines and schedules with their respective children into a system, so it’s understandable that while at this destination wedding they find a strong supportive friend with each other. But can that friendship and camaraderie maybe lead them to something more?

I enjoyed this full length novel and found the characters very well drawn. I was particularly pleased that this story had a slower pace with the two men becoming supportive and understanding friends before either of them explored or acted on their attraction. In this circumstance I’m not sure I’d have found an insta-love or quicker paced romance too believable, especially considering both Logan and Royal had two small children each and they’d both been very badly burned by their ex’s and the cheating two years prior. I was so relieved the author made their journey about the comfort, strength of friendship and the whole family situation an equal – if not greater – part to the relationship along with the sex and companionship. It just gave the whole story a more realistic and enjoyable vibe to me and I really loved that.

The sex – and there is plenty of that once the men get there – is smoking hot but also tender and heartfelt and very well written. I feel readers used to the spicier M/M books out there should find it very satisfying and I found it utterly realistic considering the circumstances of both men’s lives.

I also felt there was plenty of plot based around the two families and their lifestyles. There was ample conflict considering the ex’s and even plenty of normal, day-to-day experiences of single parenting with young children. I feel readers who enjoy this style of story should definitely feel this book well worth a try. I was pleased this was a very stand-alone style of book and readers should have no concerns over picking it up even if they’ve never read anything by this author.

With interesting characters, adorable and memorable children and two single dads doing the best they can this is a great book with plenty of chemistry and a lovely read I thoroughly enjoyed.

Oh, boy! There were a looot of kids in this book. I mean, if you don’t like children in your books you should probably stay away from this one because it’s all about the kids here. Which is understandable since they’re the main theme and the reason the 2 MCs meet and get together. And it was pretty enjoyable even though all they did was spending time with and talking about their munchkins (and that was exhausting at times, honestly). The sex scenes were limited but they were sweet and sensual. Also there was a lot of repetition, and pretty much the same conversation over and over again -“thank you”, “No. Thank YOU!”, “I’m so happy”, “I’m happy too”, “I love you”, “I love you too” and so on again and again. It was a family type of romance and no angst at all -an easy romance but I happen to like an easy romance from time to time. The MCs were pretty endearing and mature , having open conversations and expressing their feelings like 2 healthy grown ups. Less kids time on page and more slow building (and smexy times ) and it would have been a more stars read for me.

Great story! Despite the overwhelming amount of saccharine and mush throughout the book, enough to give us cavities and diabetes 🤣
But I mean, most of Sean's stories are that way, at the very least this one wasn't full of baby talk, little mercies lol.

I absolutely hate cheaters with every single fiber of my soul, they deserve to be tortured in an excruciating and slow way, and this book had not one but two asshole dirtbag cheaters, whom not only fucked over their respective spouses, they completely ignored and neglected their kids.

I'm happy that Roy and Logan finally found in each other what it means to be in a faithful, loving and committed relationship, and specially with someone who completely understood the pain and anger of said cheaters betrayal.
I'm glad they finally found their HEA, even if by the end of the story there was a shit ton of kids, like whoa!

An unexpected benefit

This was such an unexpectedly good book. Our two MCs, Royal and Logan, have to bring their children to be in the exes wedding to each other. Yea, Royal’s husband cheated with Logan’s. Now they are meeting at the fancy expensive wedding where the kids are basically trophies in the wedding. I loved these two guys. They have instant chemistry and understanding about the situation. Their kids get along great. Their connection is amazing and intimate right out of the gate. The exes are both selfish creeps. And our heroes live happily ever after! Sweet story about meeting your perfect match when you least expected it. Honestly the two exes deserve each other and don’t deserve to even share these adorable kids at all.

The wedding

I just finished this book and I will give it a 4/5. It is an easy and entertaining read. Logan and Royal were left by their husbands. Both couples had children with Logan and Royal being the principal parents. The two men meet at the destination wedding of their exes. They even bond over some common pain and form a great friendship. The children even bond. So when they get back home they continue their friendship and it grows into something more intimate. Logan and Royal fall in love with each and decide to become a blended family. All is well until the exes find out. Will the two men be able to keep their family together?

Logan and Royal meet a few days before their exes get married. Because the men, who cheated on Logan and Royal, want their children to take part in their extravagant wedding, Logan and Royal accompany their kids to Mexico.
Neither were looking for romance. Finding each other to be sympathetic, as well as lonely, they get along very well. So well, that when they get back to Canada, they don't let the blooming relationship die.
This is a super sweet, new friends to lovers, tale. Enjoyable. Not terribly believable. But sweet.

I am really surprised I enjoyed the book. I expected it to be a bit lackluster for want of a word. I just didn't expect to like it. It did have issues. Way sweet, lots of the "family" being too perfect. Still the writing was excellent. I was actually quite interested in the story. I really don't know how to say I was drawn into the story. It seems like it would have a lot of elements that would put me off, but no, I really enjoyed the whole thing.

Love & babies!

I love all of Sean Michael’s books with kids. Always so much love and care. Royal and Logan meet when their exes marry and want the kids involved. They quickly become a blended family and have an island adventure. Back home they continue adoring each other. It just warms the heart. I loved every minute and know you will too.

I love the way these two get together. These two really connect for the beginning. I also love the kids and how they just love each other. This is a sweet story with only a couple of angsty moments when dealing with the exes but even that isn't as bad it could be. This is a sweet love story of two men who deserve a great life and find it with each other.

Love From Heartache

I love this story. Royal and Logan both worked so well together. I enjoyed following their story as they turned a friendship made from an unfortunate situation into a beautiful love story. Their HEA was so satisfying to experience.

How can you not enjoy this book

Two cheating husbands who wants la-de-da life but don't want the responsibility of their children. The bright side is that their husbands love their children and are willing to make the necessary sacrifices that it takes. Families are love.

Exes unite !

I enjoyed this story where the two main characters were the exes o8f the cheating husbands. A destination wedding involving the small children brings Royal and Logan together. It was good but a bit too sweet.

What an absolutely cute story! I loved all the kids and how they were perfect for each other. I will say that I found the POVs confusing, it was just weird at times. Other than that it was just the "fluff" I needed!!!

Good story

I enjoyed this one. Not much plot but solid characters. It drags a bit, lots of eating (too much), lots of telling how they feel. The conflicts could have ramped up the intensity but ended up very minor which was a bit disappointing. I’m not sorry I read it.

Two men, abandoned by their husbands, find solace in each other's company, and their small children immediately click together on the beach. A short, sweet story, a wee bit drawn out now and then but still a nice gentle tale.
