In Summer Boys, Beth, Ella, and Kelsi ruled Pebble Beach. Now it's time for 3 new girls to rock the summer.

JESSICA: Liam is the cutest guy I've ever seen and he loves the beach as much as I do. So how do I show him I'd make a better girlfriend than friend?

GREER: I could be tanning on glam French beaches, but instead I'm "family-bonding" in Maine. At least the boys are hot—especially Brady. So what if he has a clingy ex-girlfriend?

LARA: Just my luck. I've fallen hard for the one boy who's totally off limits. If only I could stop kissing him....

Filled with cliches and stereotypes, this book is borderline offensive This book was not hipster or cool, it seemed like a pathetic attempt at guessing what teenage girls would like...

Jessica is a sporty, atheletic type... but she deosn't want to be anymore. She's into boys and she
wants to snag one for herself. She's the most clueless out of the bunch, but the most down to earth one as well. She is only a miniscule less annoying than the other two....

Greer is a rich, snobby, New York B*@#$. She parades around in skimpy, expensive clothes (which all the brand name dropping got old very fast). She is shallow. She tries to halfway improve herself this summer, but fails mostly. Lara is a divorced family victim, a thrift store shopper, has an actual job and is definitely boy crazy.

The whole story was pretty much geared around summer boys... these girls were obsessed with boys. I know that's how a lot of girls are in their teenage years, but it just felt a little shallow.
Honestly, i just read this and I'm going to pretty much try to erase it from my mind. Was it terrible? No, but there is absolutely nothing specail about it either... which might be worse than just plain being bad. Also, these girls all seemed too pretty to me.... it was just too much!

Let’s just say off the bat that I don’t like this type of book. I prefer to read literature that’s slightly more intellectual than describing the boys as “Abercrombie-hot” and throwing a bunch of classy brand names to describe a girl’s wardrobe. SUMMER GIRLS has both of those and more. The characters are all “types”: the sporty-hot chick, the glam-hot chick, the offbeat-hot chick, the playboy-hot guy, the sporty-hot guy, the wholesome-boy-next-door-hot guy…have I been clear enough yet?

I don’t even mind character types as long as they are done well, as long as we can put ourselves in their shoes and see where they are coming from in their thoughts and actions. But you don’t really get to do that with SUMMER GIRLS. Individually I can believe each of these girls’ stories and maybe even enjoy them, but when you throw them together and insist that they go from practically strangers to BFFs in the course of several very turbulent weeks without adequately exploring the dynamics of their friendships and family, well, I have a problem. It’s as if the author decided that the three girls would have their separate plotlines, but they had to converge somehow, so—boom!—they live together. Uh, okay? And then what happens? There is so much more that happens when three almost-strangers live together than what is portrayed in this book.

Still, the summer is coming up, and Hailey Abbott’s series has done well in years past. SUMMER GIRLS will find its audience in the hordes of preteen girls who want to live vicariously—read: have random hookups, get their hearts broken by summer flings, and wrap everything up neatly at the end of the season—while in reality they’re stuck on an unexciting beach with their unexciting, same-old, same-old family.

In the month of March I chose another book by the author Hailey Abbott. I continue to read the the books that she writes because in each story is so simple but includes such great aspects of writing. Her writing is inspiring which made the book Summer Girls so much more intriguing, The story captures three different stories of cousins on their look for a perfect summer and perfect boy. The Tuttles rent out three homes in pebble beach for the summer and Each girl has so much on there mind and is willing to make this the best summer ever. Jessica wants to live up to the amazing summers her older cousins seemed to have up in Pebble beach she just hopes that this isn't there last family bonding experience. Greer is sent away from her parents so they can work on their marriage and she just wants to find boys. Lara is saving up for her dream car and college while her mom moves on to fifth husband Mike. Not all of them are willing to become the best of friends in the beginning but all of them have something they all find very important in common, longing for a summer boy.

Hailey Abbott never seems to disappoint me. Summer Girls was beyond the point of an exciting book to read. I didn't expect the plot twists in this novel to take place. This book is good-humored, heartfelt and overall a good read.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. I never really became a Lara fan though. 1. I didn’t like her name and it was annoying to read lol and 2. Her story was just weird and I could not get on board with the thing with her and drew. I hated Greer at first but she ended up being my favorite. And Jessica in the middle. She was very innocent and immature compared to Greer but it balanced the group out. Nice summer read. Too bad it’s winter now LOL

Very much enjoyed this trilogy. The first was nicely done; the third my favorite. Worth the time although some time is spent 'reviewing' in the event one hadn't read the 1st, or 2nd, installment.
Unlike others, I didn't think the Southern woman was overdone. In fact, the English woman could've used some ramping up, for comedic effect.

Would recommend this trilogy. A quick, enjoyable read.

This is a quick read and a good story that involves challenging family dynamics, long kept secrets and sister love. A lovely portrait of life in the coastal lowlands off the coast of Charleston. This book triggered fond memories of my own spent with sisters and cousins and my grandmother (my Sittee). Really good book!

Knew that it was just a beach read about the low country...which I typically love.... BUT did not find the book very interesting. Familiar story line which did not grab me.

The Tuttle family is back for another summer at Pebble Beach, but now it’s time for three new cousins to rock the social scene. Jessica, Greer, and Lara are all members of the extended Tuttle family, but they couldn’t be more different. Athletically competitive Jessica is the only Pebble Beach veteran out of these three girls, and she’s determined to make this summer absolutely perfect, which includes plenty of cousin bonding time, beach parties, and, of course, hot guys. For somewhat coldhearted Greer, it’s a much different story. Her parents have sent her to bond with the other Tuttles while they work on their own marriage issues. And all Greer wants now is a hot guy on her arm so she can forget her parents’ problems. Lara, on the other hand, couldn’t be more excited to meet the family of her newest stepfather. Unfortunately, the gorgeous guy she’s fallen for happens to be Jessica’s brother, a summer crush doomed before it began. It’s going to be another summer of misplaced crushes, complicated relationships, and even heartbreak for the Tuttle girls until they finally come together and realize what’s most important.

Hailey Abbott is probably the queen of summer beach reads for teens. Like Summer Boys and Abbott’s other novels, Summer Girls has all the necessary elements for a guilty pleasure for the hot season: beaches, hot guys, girls with varying degrees of boy-craziness, and, of course, scandal. I can’t say Summer Girls stands out with its plot among another other beachy reads I’ve perused, especially Abbott’s previous novels, but that doesn’t mean this book won’t be enjoyed by fans of this type of novel. Though in no way original, the boy chasing and familial fights keeps things relatively interesting on Pebble Beach. Abbott does deserve points for her characters though. Jessica, Greer, and Lara, like the plot, are none too original and are even a bit stereotypical at times, but readers will grow to love these three girls. They each have their good qualities and their faults, which makes them realistic, and readers will be rooting for them to make up when their tentative friendship starts to fall apart. I found it a little strange how much Abbott emphasizes family when two out of the three main Tuttle girls come from broken or breaking down families, but although it’s a little to cutesy for my taste, I recognize that family will always be there, even if it’s in a different form than what you’re used to.

Summer Girls is sure to be enjoyed by any girl heading to the beach and fans of Abbott’s earlier summer reads. Yes, this novel doesn’t have much real substance to it, but everyone deserves at least one guilty pleasure.

In the book "Summer Girls", the author’s purpose in writing the book was to tell a story about finding out who is right for you and who isn't. It's also about getting closer to those who were always there for you, even if you never imagined things being that way. A purpose that wasn't stated directly would be that you need to trust yourself before you can trust others. Also, betting knowing yourself is a huge part of this book.

The themes of this book would be trust and believing in yourself. The book shows trust by the characters being able to go to each other when times do get difficult, even if they haven’t known them for long. It would be hard to trust a lot of people in this case, if family and friend problems were all that ever happened in your life. Believing in yourself is another theme shown in this book because you can’t do much if you aren't able to believe in yourself to do so. Sometimes, your own self is your greatest friend when everything else seems to be going wrong or people who you once trusted, seem to prove you wrong.

The style that this book was written in was description. Throughout the book, the author made it possible for you to be able to put yourself in the character’s shoes and experience what they are feeling or going through. This style was effective because it kept your attention instead of making it hard to understand. This style also made it possible to relate to in some ways, making it easier to read.

My opinion of the book was that it was very well described and kept with the main point of the book. This book would be good for anyone who enjoys reading books that they can relate to. The part of the book that I liked the most was when the characters were finding out who was there for them and who wasn't because it is able to be related back to real life. Over all, this book was an interesting book to read.

The Tuttle family makes their way back to Maine for the summer, after the cabins have been rebuilt. Jessie can't wait to spend summer flirting with boys, soaking up the sun, and connecting with her two cousins. She's expecting magic.

Magic doesn't come easy.

She falls for a guy, who treats her as one of the guys. She's hanging out with his brother in hopes that he will finally notice her. Is she too busy throwing herself at Liam that she completely misses another boy?

Her cousin, Lara, is so new to the family that she falls for a boy before she realizes he's her step-cousin. She can't stop thinking about him.

Greer is new to the family and only in Maine while her parents work through their marital issues. Usually a heart-breaker, she finds a boy that intrigues her. Immediately, he makes a snap decision about her and she's up to the challenge of proving him wrong.

Will it be a summer of disappointed romances and backstabbing cousins, or will it be a summer to remember?

Hailey Abbott starts SUMMER GIRLS three years after the fire burned down the family cottage. A new generation of Tuttle girls is ruling the beach and the guys this summer.

Abbott again nails the perfect summer novel.

The Pebble Beach adventures continue with the next set of Tuttle cousins. Jessica has grown up watching her older cousins take Pebble Beach by storm, and she wants that for herself this summer. But how can she get Liam to see her as something other than one of the guys (and should she even want that with his player ways?). Greer is struggling through her parents' possible divorce, and tries to prove to Brady that she is not just a rich snob. Finally, Lara, a transplant into the family when her mum marries Mike Tuttle, forges a relationship with her new cousins, including unintentionally falling for her step-cousin, Drew.
The book is full of drama, crushes and unrealistic situations, but is a good flimsy summer read. Not a lot of depth to the characters, and they very closely resemble the previous Tuttle girls from the "summer boys" series.

I chose this book on accednt really I took by accident and then read the first chapter and really liked. The novel "Summer Girls" by Hailey Abbott is about 3 cousins who spend the summer with the rest of their family. They meet boys who they think are the one and fall in love one turns out to be realted to one of them another is a jerk and another is really sweet. I really like the author style of writing it is all over the place and it is a cool way of writing. Their point of veiw is on and off every chapter a diffrent character. I would recommend this book to all girls who love romances. It is one of the best romance book I have read. It is a good read and it is not to easy and not to hard to read and I couldnt put the book down.

First of all I think it's fine for step cousins to like each other cause they are only related be marriage right?? Well the book was really good! It seems realistic that it could happen. Family spends a whole summer together and there's lots of drama and parties... I could see this totally happening. I loved the characters but sad that they didn't end up with the guys in this book... I guess I'm going to have to wait and see...

I loved how this was sort of a follow up to the Summer Boys series. In this book, Jessi, the younger cousin of the Tuttle cousins from the Summer Boys series, Ella, Jamie, Kelsi, and Beth, has a summer of her own. But she puts too much pressure on having "the perfect summer" like her cousins before her, but she soon learns that those summers wern't so perfect.

This was an okay read. It didn't really blow me away. I thought it was pretty fun to read about cousins. The style of the author's writing was pretty enjoyable and I liked it a lot. I liked the on and off point of view of every chapter. It's a pretty easy read and pretty quick to get through. I can definitely see myself continue this series in the future.

I loved this book because the girls were very relatable. You have the athletic good girl who chases after the bad boy, the quirky artsy girl who just wants to have a stable family and the pretty mean girl who wants the one boy on Pebble Beach who doesnt want her.

I really really like the Summer Boys/ Summer Girls series. They're light, fun, easy summer reads.

After reading the Summer Boys series first, it was weird to return to Pebble Beach with the younger cousins...I miss reading about Ella, Beth, Kelsi, and Jamie.

But still, awesome summer read.
