When Scout Randall’s past came into focus, she thought the hard part was behind her. She was wrong.
Now, not only is she dealing with a day-walking vampire who has all the strengths and none of the weaknesses associated with his kind, but there’s also a new bloodsucker in town … and this one is out for revenge.
When she killed the last master, Scout assumed that was it. She didn’t count on him having a brother. That brother is intent on making her pay, and he’s not shy about dropping bodies in an attempt to rattle her along the way.
Scout has a sister she can’t trust, a former partner she’s trying to bring back to the world of the living, and a crew that’s often steeped in drama. When you add the Winchesters from Hemlock Cove into the mix, she has her hands full. A new vampire gang is the last thing she needs, especially when people start falling under glamours and making targets of themselves.
Scout has magic and might on her side but the fight she’s facing could force her to make a choice she never thought she would have to make.
Darkness is taking over Hawthorne Hollow. Vampires are gathering evil forces to take over the town.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Scout and the gang are back. More vampires hit town to cause havoc and our friendly hemlock cove witches help save Raisin. What an awesome story and the next one will be even more magical.
This is an extraordinarily awesome supernatural cozy Mr. series. Great cash of characters and a very entertaining storyline and intertwined magic world. Scout and gunner are a couple of bikers in a small town in northern southern Michigan. They are part of a biker group that is a supernatural group of hunters that go out and capture or destroy evil in the area. The spells angels have chapters around the country that deal with evil supernatural‘s causing issues. Their particular group is not far away from Hemlock Cove or the Winchester which is live. In fact do not be surprised if you see one of the Winchesters pop up. Once again they are battling evil as something is trying to tear apart the town and cause chaos and destruction. Read on find out how scout gunner and the rest of the spells angels search out the problem and see if they can handle it.
.. with Scout setting up a new warded abode for Emma, Evan adjusting to his new reality as a partially cured vampire, trying to deal with Raisins boyfriend situation and the joy of Moaning Marissa still trying to get Rooster to sack her Scouts plate is plenty full.
But just like buses it's all or nothing and once again there's a death in town which is ringing alarm bells that the vamps are back.. Katie has been strung up to send a message but can they work out what the new master vamp is trying to say?
Bram, yes, he chose it himself, is brother to Armand who Scout obliterated and when they meet he's full of the most clichéd revenge threats from the worst movies. For Scout it will be a joy to send him the same way as his brother but first she has to deal with an abusive parent, a very irritating little man.. and rescue one of her own.. can she make it before they are turned?
This is one story that has several twists and turns that I was totally, and often thrown by. No spoilers, but this has a mix of fun, and tears that in places, was bigger than the main storyline. A master vampire wants to kill Scout in revenge for her ending his brothers' life. Building a vampire army and taking over the town would just be icing on the cake, or blood in the bank. All I can say, is not only did I enjoy the book immensely, but now I can't wait for the next to come out! If you haven't read any of this series, be sure to start with the first one, and read them in order. You'll be glad you did!
What I enjoyed: * It was good to see Graham's view of Gunnar's past * Tilly was more manageable dealing with Evan and Scout than her family, and I really hope Evan comes out of this ok * Scout's idea of torture is to force Bixby to watch Designing Women * bombshell drop at the end
What could be better: * I know Raisin is a teenager, but I'm sooooo over her drama * And worse than Raisin is Marissa - how does she still have a job with the Spell's Angels - she never does anything but complain
The fun has just begun. scout is one of my favorite stories. The stuff she has to deal with is beyond anything you could imagine. She is kicking butt and taking names. This go round she has a new vampire in town and he is in for revenge. He doesn’t realize he has stepped in dog poo when dealing with Scout. To my surprise we had visitors from our other favorite town. The Winchesters are back to help beat up another baddie. It was so much fun to see everyone together. Great read.
Once again the Spells Angels are teaming up with the Winchester ladies as a new master moves into town. And while I do love Aunt Tillie and Bay, Raisin and Marissa just annoy the crud out of me. It doesn’t matter that more of Gunner’s childhood trauma is revealed, or that there is a completely unexpected revelation at the final confrontation, Raisin’s (and Marissa because she’s related to Mrs. Little) behaviour and attitude really need to be dealt with, she’s like Sami lite with all her tears, tantrums and manipulations.
Very interesting twist at the end. I liked this book overall. I have yet to read the series dedicated to the Winchesters so it was cool to see Tillie use some real power, she is clearly way more powerful than she gets credit for and I think he trying to help is both sweet and Hilarious. The main baddie was kinda weak, but he really wasn't the story in this one I don't think. It was more about character development for multiple characters and for that I really like it. However, Raisin is really starting to get on my nerves. On to the next book
Another brilliant entry to this series, Scout is one of the most powerful characters in this authors series, but that comes under question in this book when she's up against an enemy whose not after her but those she holds dear. Not to worry though Scout not on has her Spells Angels group to aid her but also the Winchesters from Hemlock Cove, Tillie especially is determined not to be left out. Scouts enemies will regret targeting her for revenge.
Scout Randall’s life doesn’t catch any breaks. While powers continue to grow, she doesn’t have fewer enemies. The more fascinating aspect of this story is the heavy constant action and the deeper genuine bond the characters are able to emote without words. Their actions paint a deeper picture. Sad I have to wait till the next installment. Had a serious cliffhanger vibe at the end.
As with the Buff y saga, when we first learn about master vampires, they seem to be these amazingly strong, unstoppable, powerful monsters, which it took a whole season build up to defeating. Then there was another, and another, and suddenly it's anticlimactic to fight one. I can only imagine a battle with an army of vampires and all the crew with magic swords like Tillie's. The human interactions really take center. F
Sticks and Drones (A Spells Angels Cozy Mystery book 7. Amanda Lee
This was another winner. This Author is one of my favourite s and I love all her hooks. This series and cast of characters are one of my favorites . I was so glad to see another one is out. I all order 8 after this. This Author has a great imagination. I highly recommend all her books and different series as they are all great. Diana Romano
I continue to like this series better than some of the others by Lee. Less drama and ridiculous discussions/ comments. Although both Scout and Tillie gave it a run a few times. Tillie was actually easier to deal with in this series than in the Wicked Witch series. Raisin continues to be far more childish than 16, but those are indeed tough years. I think she will improve over the next books. She definitely had a tough lesson in this one.
Yeah, another epic battle. Each one gets bigger than the last. Gunner gets more details, and more information about scouts past comes forth as well. She reunites with the Winchesters to take on another group of vampires. You know, they say something, and then later on, they say it again, and act all surprised by the information. I’m like, were you there when this was discussed? How do you forget important details like that?
Fun series about a group of monster hunters in Northern Lower Michigan. Tillie Winchester and the others make an appearance. The plot and subplots move quickly and the conversations flow naturally. The humor keeps the book from getting too serious. I can't wait for the next book!
I loved this one. Scout, Gunner and the gang joining forces with the Winchester’s. This story brings some of Scouts past a little closer to the forefront. Evan is still working a few things out but I think it will be interesting to see where he ends up. I can wait to see the direction if the next book.
This series of books by Ms. Lee is a really quick read as are most of her books. There is mingling of her characters from some of her myriad series so I suppose readers can enjoy it. For me, however, I think this is my last outing with this author. Her series are so juvenile that I'm surprised they aren't classified as youth or at least young adult.
Every time I read a new book in this series, I say” it’s my favorite “ but this one really is! All my favorite witches together it just made it so much more exciting. Tilly never cease to surprise and amaze! I also fell in love with Evan, hope to read more books with him in it. Amanda Lee , you are a master!
Lots of info and Aunt Fully completely flexes I'm this book
We get a little bit of our favorite witches In this book. Aunt Tilly completely flexes in this book. She is awesome. Heartbreaking news for a few of our favorites. Lots of information is dumped on the them. Cannot wait for the next book. Definitely he must read.
You must be book writing machine. When did you really start ? When you were three ? I love your stories. There is always so much detail in each. I can not guess how you do this wonderful job of making my life more interesting. Thank you for your time. Please keep up the great work.😍
I love Gunner and Scout. Throw in the rest of the Spells Angels gang and you have a fun cozy mystery. But add in Aunt Tille and the rest of the Winchester Witches and you have a spectacular mind blowing experience. Experiencing Aunt Tillie and her wacky ways and the devious way her mind works is just a hilarious page turning one of a kind fun read.
I just need the next book now because we are deeper and deeper into knowing about Scout's past. These characters are so colorful and nuanced, and having some of the best (The Winchester's) just makes it better. We're still dealing with vampires here, but it's all part of a pretty involved and connected story. Read it, you won't be disappointed!
Some parts are just too juvenile for grown adults to enjoy ..... That being said, it's a nice little Sunday afternoon story to get into . It definitely has young adult stamped all over most of it. Tilly is a trip though, she makes it worth it.................. most of the time.
We learn more about what happened with Gunnar and his mother in this book. It's not connected to the mystery, really. Something peripheral brings it up.
There are more Winchesters and more Evan. Gunnar is romantic and funny and cute. There are more baddies to fight, and Emma gets to move into her new house.
This series reminds me of one of those serials they used to show in the theaters before the movie started. Once again we’re left with a mystery, even though the main plot has been resolved. I did enjoy the appearance of the Winchester family though.
I absolutely love this book. Putting the Winchester and the Spells Angels together is inspired. I'm loving the new side of Evan being brought out by Tillie. The revelation at the end of the book was quite unexpected and I can't way for the next book!
There were more answers and deepening mysteries weaving throughout the book. It’s so satisfying to get some answers and so tantalizing to follow the intermeshed family mysteries. Can’t wait for the next book!
Another good book in this series. I love the crossover characters. This author has developed many unique and interesting characters in her series. I love everyone of her current series and can't wait for more! I highly recommend this series and Author.
I love seeing what a bad ass Tillie can be and would love to see her teach Scout who’s so open to learning. These two families make such a great team! I’m soooo excited to see where this story line goes!
