This is a Children's book that I listen to on audiobook with my kids. I found the story to be cute, and I love that it has a lot of science mixed into the story. I love that the kids are using science to solve a mystery. I found the characters to be cute and fun to follow. My kids enjoyed this book a lot. The narrator of this book was really good and fun to listen to. I was kindly provided an e-audiobook of this book by the publisher (Amulet Books) or author (Andrea Beaty) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
4 Sterne
I listened to this with our younger two children and they loved it! Ada Twist stories are great educational stories for kids. I love how the author walks the problem through so readers can learn to process how to handle a problem. These apply not just yo scientific problems, but any type.
The narration was great. The chapters are short enough that if you need to pause you can get to a good stopping point.
The end of the audio included additional facts for readers. It is important to me as a mom to have books like this for kids.
Thank you Andrea Beaty and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book.
Ada twist and the disappearing dogs is a fun story about how using the scientific method can help you discover answers in the world around you. This book does a great job at teaching the scientific method, as well as using big words and defining them for the reader. I would recommend this book to kids and second or third grade learning about the scientific method. Kids to love dogs and/or dinosaurs would also love this book. Ada twist knows all about the scientific method because of her aunt Bernice. Bernice is a true scientist and archaeologist. When she was Ada’s age, she discovered a dinosaur tooth in her backyard. Through the discovery of the dinosaur tooth, Bernice falls in love with science. Bernice is love of science is something she has to share with everyone around her, including her niece Ada. When dogs start disappearing around the town, Ada and her friends are worried. Her friends start hanging up posters and making up stories about what the dog-napper might look like. Ada insist on using the scientific method to find out what is really going on.
I love listening to audio books in the car, but I have a seven year old daughter so I have to be careful of what I listen to as she is also listening. I am always so excited to have an audio book we can listen to together. My daughter loves math and science and enjoys all of the Ada Twist books and this one was no different. The narration was fun and easy to listen to and the story was engaging for both my daughter and me. I love that these books add in such a lesson about science and investigating things before you come to a conclusion. They mystery aspect kept my daughter engaged and the narrator's voices were great.
I would highly recommend these books and this audio book for anyone with a child who likes listening to audio books with their child. Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the advanced listening copy in exchange for an honest review.
“It’s the funny thing about digging … you never know what you’ll find.”
Ada loves science and knows that the scientific method can help her solve most any problem. Which is good because the pets in her town are disappearing. She and her friends decide to look into the mystery, but before they do adequate research they jump to a conclusion which is not based on facts. They create posters about alien robots stealing pets and create fear in the town. That’s when they realize their mistake and start over, this time doing research that actually applies to the case.
A fun twist at the end. Young students who love science or mysteries should enjoy this one. Mostly for 2nd and 3rd grade students.
When her friends’ dogs go missing, they are convinced that there is a dognapper in the neighborhood. Ada isn’t so sure, though, and uses the scientific method to determine what has happened to the missing dogs.
This was a cute story that readers starting chapter books will surely enjoy! I love that it features a girl who enjoys STEM and hope Ada will encourage more girls to enjoy math and science in school. Bahni Turpin did a magnificent job narrating the audiobook.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.
I don’t think Ada’s are quite as strong as the two other Questioneers books we’ve read, but they are still very good. The mystery in Disappearing Dogs is a little weak, IMO, and The Perilous Pants stretches plausibility a bit. But, I think they still work well for the target audience and do a good job of presenting the scientific method. I appreciate the way Ada’s neurodivergence is portrayed and especially the way in which her family is sometimes frustrated by it but are always caring and supportive and willing to admit when they have been unfair about a situation.
Ada and the Questioneers are on a mission to find the missing pets! This story and it's narration were lively and full of life lessons. My personal children found that there are many types of thinkers in this world and all have something to offer when working as a team. We also found there to be lessons in empathy. perseverance and hard work. Another great addition to this storytelling franchise! #adatwistandthedisapperaingdogs #netgalley
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced electronic audio review copy of this great book. In this wonderful story, the characters use the scientific method to solve a problem of disappearing pets. The narration was lively and the story — full of life lessons. Can’t wait to share this book with my students.
Book 5 in this series. Ada and her friends solve the mystery of the missing pets. Readers see the scientific method in use. They can make their own hypotheses as the story evolves. Thankfully, there is no pet thief and everyone gets their pets back.
This was a fun installment in the series! Lots of information about the scientific method. I enjoyed the message about facts and about listening to people. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I think the results were a bit far fetched.
Love Ada twist and the educational aspect of it. Zoey found it harder to sit through this than normal though and I think it’s because it didn’t leave a lot of room for her to imagine and let the information soak in. Still liked it just wasn’t one of the favorites
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* cute as always! love these books always make the little ones think and this one had no bad guys which was different :)
