Old English sheep dogs, German Shepherds and Malamutes are just a few of the fun-loving, furry breeds that anyone can create by following these sketches.
This book seemed promising because it covers so many different dog breeds, but I didn't end up finding it very helpful. It uses images to walk you through each breed, and the end result looks good, but it only uses the images, there's no text instructions to walk you through it.
There's also nothing about basic dog anatomy or anything like that. It's basically just instructions on how to copy the exact drawing the author did, it doesn't teach you to draw dogs on your own.
It definitely wasn't the right fit for me, I would recommend looking at books by Gladys Emerson Cook and J.C. Amberlyn for actual lessons on drawing dogs!
The one positive thing about this book was that it doesn't do that thing in a lot of drawing books where the final result looks drastically different than the steps it walked you through. It's very clear how the author got to the final result.
Draw 50 Dogs, Lee J. Ames This guy continues to provide basic clear helpful instructions to assist beginners like me. I pick out 1 or 2 of my favourites and practice them until I feel proficient enough to draw them anytime. Makes for fun conversation starter at parties. ***
This book offers kids an easy way to learn how to draw different breeds of dogs. It's simple and the results are (mostly) recognizable. Our girls have really enjoyed drawing dogs by following these techniques and making fun pictures.
Our oldest has been bringing home lots of drawing books from her school library and she loves learning to draw new and different animals. Our girls have borrowed this book from their elementary school library a couple of times.
This book is great for children who like to draw! I actually tried to follow the steps to see if my picture would look like theirs and it worked! This is a book teacher should have on their shelves. There is always one child who comes up and says I don't know how to draw this and you could tell them to go get this book. The author also has other books teaching children and adults how to draw! I would recommend it! :)
Not a lot of reading instruction or detailed images to follow, this book operates on 'see the image, draw the image'. It might work for others but for me, it dosn't. Picked up this book hoping to figure out how to possibly draw wolves but I think I'll look elsewhere.
that being said, the book is easy to follow at least. you are shown about a page worth of images about a specific breed in a specific pose and get a little mini-fact about the breed as well, but that's about it.
