3.5/5 stars. I could do without the Jesse v Valentine drama-I just find it truly unnecessary and distracting to the point of annoying, TO ME, in relation to the main storyline(s)…IMO. JUST OPINION. I’m digging this route with Andy(rea) & her acolytes. Fascinating! I’m also looking forward to seeing Hannah’s adventures!:)
Topflight, 5 Star Amazingly Written Psychological Suspense
This another great 👍 Jessie Hunt book 📚📖 In this Blake Pierce series. Once I started reading Jessie Hunt books I was addicted. We have these characters, who are flawed in one way or another, yet they managed to solve mysteries Jessie and Ryan her fiance's way. I loved that they have Hannah in her own recurring story line it's not pretty what happens to the people whose cases they have to solve but it's exciting and never fails to satisfy as a suspense psychological book 📚 📖 in the series.
They had a perfect façade - a beautiful wife and kids, a successful husband - living in a beautiful and sophisticated house in a nice suburban area. However, the mother is found dead, the more Jessie and Hernandez search for information on the couple, the more they start to realize that nothing was as it seemed. There were so many cracks in that façade.... Will Jessie be able to solve the mystery? Will her relationship with her sister rekindle? Another good story, full of mystery and good/bad leads that got my attention from the beginning. As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
A wife is found burgeoned to death by her interior designer and the nanny. Jessie Hunt is called to investigate the case. During the investigation, another major crime occurs that she want to work. However her fiancé reminds her the importance of solving the case they are currently working before jumping to another case. So the two of them dig deep into the husband, the nanny and the list of suspects they have discovered. Once the solve the case, they are immediately put on the other major case. Jessie discovers that this case is tied to her past and the woman who tried to kill her. She realizes that something extremely big is about to happen that could be disastrous to her.
As much as I like reading the Jessie Hunt series, I continue to be amazed at the poor editing of these books. Through out this book I counted at least 10 editing errors of missing words, wrong tense used, incorrect contractions, etc. I have seen other reviews for Blake Pierce's books about poor editing besides my own. One would think he or someone on his team was reading reviews and would make efforts to be more attentive to the editing on theses new releases. Disappointing!
I don't know if I've ever mentioned this - I don't get the cover art for this series of books! It's doesn't fit the stories at all! This is a typical Jessie Hunt story with the side not that her sister is in a secure psychiatric facility trying to get over her many problems. Also, Jessie is trying to plan a wedding which is not going well. Jessie and her lover and partner are called to solve murders taking place in a wealthy suburb of LA and are surprised at all the secrets they find out about this seemingly perfect town.
Blake Pierce is truly gifted in storytelling. After over 15 series on a character Jessie Hunt, he is still able to come up with this story is incredible. Two cases were solved in this series. I can't wait what other horrific events will emanate from Andy Robinson in the next series. I am so glad that Hannah has grown in this series. A story will be coming from her side too. Can't wait. Thanks Blake again and again for this series
Good quick read. I get so excited for the next book to come out in this series. Andrea is nuts. I can’t believe after 20 books that she’s still in the series, still making messes. It’s shocking. And she knows how to get to Jessie and how to get what she wants. Hannah seems to making progress in her recovery - or seems to have a purpose in life when she is figuring out crimes - using her energy and aggression positively.
Left the reader with horrible fear and dread for Ryan, Hannah and Jessie on the upcoming novel! So many subplots in this book that I cannot wait for book 21!
I think this series is only getting better. 3 stories in 1. A quick read I could not put down. Looking forward to the underlying problems to come out and be solved.
Jessie and Ryan are investigating the murder of a wealthy lawyer's wife in her own home. Supposedly this was the perfect couple, but things are never what they seem. As this investigation is taking place chaos breaks out downtown with so many people falling over and dying mysteriously. Next Hannah, Jessie's sister, decides she's going to investigate the death of another patient and her friend at the facility she's in. This book will keep you involved until the very end and waiting for the next in the series!
The story is a good one, but the different point of views made me confused. It made it a little hard to follow and for me to enjoy the story. I should also look up when the books are a series the main characters would make sense. I did not pay attention to that fact and probably the reason it was hard to follow along.
