I almost DNFed this twice. I only kept reading to see if they found the sister and to see the h's stupid reaction when she was proven wrong about being the Alara. I couldn't stand Ada the h. She was a TSTL stubborn biotch. She was infuriating. If I was the H, I would have shipped her ass back to Earth....good riddance. Then the only other rescued human female that was more annoying than Ada, Jaya, seems is gonna have her own book. Yeah, no thanks! I'll pass!! 👎

1.5 stars!

Stolen by Starlight is the first in a series. Ada and her sister Lena were abducted by aliens and were going to be sold but then Lothan scents his fated mate...his Alara and goes to claim her.

Lothan is the oldest of six brothers and ruler of his kingdom since his father departed. When he scents his mate, he knows he must have her as his queen and rule by his side.

Ada is only interested in rescuing her sister and makes a bargain with Lothan. Help save her sister and she will consider being by his side. If I were Lothan I think I would have said see ya...you aren't worth it!

Lothan is the best hero and devoted to his mate and pulls out all the stops to win his Alara over and prove to her they are fated.

Ada...I hated her. She was too stubborn and honestly just an ungrateful asshole. She was a coward and acted like a chicken with her head cut off 98% of the time. Bok bok b*tch. Lothan is the only reason I'm rating this book this high.

The world building was fine and the steam was mediocre. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one. The heroine in this one put a sour taste in my mouth.

So I wound up really loving this one... I thought I was going to give it 4 stars, but by the time I reached the final chapter and then the Epilogue, I knew this was gonna be a 5 star read for me. In spite of my reaction to one very TSTL move our heroine makes here, She was able to redeem herself.. Kinda. But I won't spoil it...

*Steam factor: 3.75. The overall story more than makes up for this though.

This is a new series it seems. The 2nd book will not be out until March 2022. But I loved this intro to this series so much, I will be returning to see what is in store for all of Lothan's brothers. I am more curious about the youngest one, Lyro, but book 2 will be about Thren, the brute. He was interesting too. Hope his book lives up to the mystery of him. The other brother Nik, The assassin, VERY intrigued with him too. But I think Lothan has like 6 brothers or something. The whole series is said to cover them all.

I would recommend this book.

This is goint to be a rant so apologies in advance.
This book was so frustating! I never disliked an h sooooo bad, honestly so stubborn for no reason when the H was on her side and doing everything for her. You can push away for not believing the things that are happening but it was just too much at some point. I felt bad for the H putting up with that. He wasn't perfect but he deserves better.
To be fair, I didn't like most of the side characters either. Not even the world-building makes me like the book.

The pace was awful too, it just felt like the same thing over and over again for so many pages with the heroine being stupid or insecure or in denial and the H trying to prove they were mates and trying to rule his planet. The only reason I finished the book was that for most of it the heroine talked about her sister as if she was a saint and I wanted to see if she was rescued at least, but I was sooo close to just giving up.
I have read a lot of Alien books, this is probably the worst I read and I won't be continuing the series, especially since Jaya is the next book and she was almost as annoying as the h and it wasn't her book.

3.8 stars.
This was…frustrating.
I liked the concept, and all the different aliens with their own cultures and mannerisms.
But I was mostly just frustrated throughout the whole book, because they’re supposedly fated mates, but the entire time Ada is just dismissing it.
I mean she was basically just using him the whole time, right up until the end where she just says sure whatever and accepts it so the monks won’t murder her.

I just think I prefer when both parties in a fated mate situation feel the pull toward each other. I would’ve preferred if this story went how the blurb described it, with Ada agreeing to stay with Lothan after he agrees to finding her sister. Sort of implying that she wanted to stay but couldn’t agree to while her sister was out there and she wasn’t taking action.

I was just disappointed by her severe reluctance and continuous dismissal of their bond.
Then I was sort of disappointed by the sex scenes. They were hot at times but also much more vague than I wanted.

This wasn’t a bad book by any means.
I just wanted more from it.

Wow I am torn with this review. I absolutely LOVED the world building and the way the author had set up the entire world. Learning of the ML and FL - the world dynamics, which were also easy to understand and follow - while also being complex too. Like oh my gosh I kept on reading and reading - so into the world building. However there are a lot of plot points that do involve the leads making silly/rash choices to get to the next point.

Ada, in halfway through the book...knocked it down from a 4.5 to a 3 fast for me. Her choices were so rash, did not make sense, she wanted to save her sister - but despite all the really kind efforts that Lothan did...was annoying. I'm not saying Lothan is perfect or that Ada isn't justified for how she was acting either, but it was such to an extreme that it was really frustrating as a reader.

It isn't until AFTER she gets caught (on multiple occasions) where Ada is like...why didn't I just...stay with the to-be king who has all these resources, when I have literally nothing because I was kidnapped to this planet. She has no one to lean on - yes there are the other human females, but they're also in the situation of being slaves to be sold off as well. When she rejects and leaves Lotham (again) - she laments how she loved him/etc you get the picture - and will never see him again...and just goes through a whole regret thought process. Lotham being the romantic (I'd say he's more of a romantic...than a sweetheart) - he risks everything to go to her still regardless. I have to say though since he/his people? wear pretty much nothing.....during his fight scenes where Ada mention how he's naked (everyone has seen his dick) - all I can imagine is...does he really have it strapped all the time or is it just flopping around??? One scene she just says naked so I'm like...he's fighting with that thing flopping around?! (lol) Anyways I digress.

Because Ada had several moments of making these rash decisions, but only to later regret it....is what brought it up a star-ish to me though. Since it is important for anyone to realize their mistakes, learn from it, and grow. That doesn't mean as a reader it didn't make it still a frustrating read though - so that's where I am so torn! It's like a really important feature, but maybe I feel Ada didn't in the end "make up" for all that she had chosen to do - and as the new queen.....I'm not convinced. I felt there were a lot of points where the heroine would always make a frustrating decision to get to point A to B, and the hero is being gracious in saving her allllll the time. (Now that I think about it...I can't say that she really "saved" him besides deciding to be his Alara, and some negotiating tactics?) The thing is...Ada's rash, but I feel like it's incorrect to call her dumb because she knows her mistakes (after making them all).

In summary my thoughts toward Ada is literally at the halfway point I was going...omg she's going at it again?!...again?!...a-again.......
^ The halfway point of the book I need to emphasis.

Lothan, is a interesting ML since he's a romantic but does have his alpha tendencies. But in no way an alphahole. Such as not letting her go out of the palace...but honestly with how rash Ada just wanted to run out (like what plan do you really have, girl?! Aren't you also wearing the thin clothing as well???) - I felt as a reader I was like...wow it's really for her own good. I had a hard time though not laughing sometimes since he's a color changing mood-ring,

He does have a lot of daddy issues, that I have to admit as a reader near the later half of the book - was driving me crazy to still read. I know it's to illustrate his trauma as well, but I felt there was one point of the book where it should have been lessened a bit. I felt because he had so much stuff going on with his personal trauma with his dad and brothers, it's honestly why he was able to put up with the frustrating behavior of Ada. Lothan really tries so hard to meet Ada with everything she asks for, ALL THE TIME - where Ada doesn't much. I feel like at the end where they are bargaining terms, and after Ada had her final real epiphany, she realizes a bit how Lothan really is going above and beyond (willing to die) for her. This was just something where I'm like...man Lothan needs more self-care and to love HIMSELF, he's doing all he can!

Now in terms of steam...out of 5.............I'd say it's between a 2.5 to a 3. I felt tension and maybe initial findings are there, but the scenes themselves were more on the lower side. When they finally do the deed for the first time, it had a lot of build up of foreplay/he got in ...then one sentence he finished. Not that he got in and finished - but once in...it was just describing thoughts of how it felt...and done. Sub sequential scenes are there, but it's not steamy and sort of blends into the background. Now huge spoiler but something I was sort of hilarious/in a entertaining way is near the end.

Now despite how I feel about the FL/ML themselves, I am a fan of Sara's work itself. I will be honest though that I'm a bit on the fence on recommending this particular book since...it was a suck in read, but the heroine is so frustrating. HOWEVER - The world building was still phenomenal, interesting, and kept me going, so I'm sure her future books are going to be interestingly built. I'm not sure how I feel for the next hero since it seems they'll have sometime about a harem/concubine thing...but am watching out for it!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What an introduction to a new to me author! Deep Space, alien abductions of Earth females, Slavers to bring down, something for all my fellow Sci-Fi romance loving readers to get stuck into.

Ada and a group of other females have been abducted from Earth and transported to another Galaxy. Now she and her sister Lena are going to attempt a breakout before they get sold off into slavery by the Frathiks.

Their plans go a bit awry when some of the girls get split up and sold off. But one huge, and very naked, male fighter has claimed Ada as his prize for winning in the pits. But the wily pit boss puts him up against a small child, knowing full well he could win the fight but lose Ada, a lose-lose for Lothan.

Lothan may be the new king but he loves nothing more than blowing off some steam in the pits. He did not expect his next bout to bring his Alara to him! Now he must save his Alara, tend her wounds, fix the piece of rubbish translator she was forced to accept and then go about wooing her. Piece of cake, surely? Well it's obvious he's never had to deal with a human female before!

Between Ada's frequent escape attempts, possible rebellion by his brothers to usurp his position as possible Emperor and investigating the slavery that Ada uncovered, Lothan's got his hands full!

Plenty of scorching hot chemistry, snarky banter and an engaging storyline. There are plenty of brothers, one to suit any taste in male MC you prefer. I really enjoy it when the Female MC is clearly out of her depth but still comes out swinging! Lothan may be possessive but he's not demeaning towards Ada and when they finally can communicate he tried to understand her and her points of view, even when they go against his protective instincts.

Stolen by Starlight gives a whole new meaning to “taste the rainbow”
*****
Rating: 4 stars
Steam: 3 flames
Genre: Sci-fi / Alien Abduction / Fated Mates Romance
*****
Ada and her sister Lena, and several other earth “terrakin” women have been abducted by aliens (Frathiks) and are about to be sold on the auction block when Jara Lothan (Irran) scents his mate, and suddenly there isn’t anything he won’t do to protect his Alara.

Lothan, is the oldest of his six brothers, and a King that often goes to the fighting arena to blow off steam, however this time as he enters the fighting ring, things go sideways. He scents his Alara and he knows he must do anything to get her, even if it means kidnapping her.

Ada was a strong character with a great deal of baggage, which is slowly revealed throughout the book. Although I got frustrated with Ada on several occasions, I understood why she made the choices she did.

Lothan is a highly possessive, determined life size mood ring (yes he changes colors folks). And as he tries to navigate a relationship with Ada he will go through all the colors. Lothan was a fabulous hero and he totally won my heart.

Stolen by Starlight is the first book in the Alioth series and Sara Ivy Hill’s first book EVER! This book has two strong main characters, great secondary characters (I can’t wait to see who will fall next), good world building, and a storyline that is engaging and kept me turning the pages. An enjoyable read and great start to a new series that I look forward to reading more of!

I didn’t like Ada. I have read more annoying characters, but she’s easily in the top 10 most annoying characters I’ve had the displeasure to read about. She’s selfish, she’s demanding, and she’s very, very stupid. I mean, the fact that the first English word he learns is “more” should tell you everything you need to know about this woman.
As for him, his personality can be summarized by three words: masculine (whatever that means), nudist, whipped. Literally nothing else. Why these aliens bothered with clothes is beyond me. They spend more time putting the clothes on than actually wearing them. He bends over backwards to please her and she’s just an ungrateful, stupid little bitch. He’s willing to sacrifice not only his own life for her and to cater to her every whim but his whole planet and the lives of those living in it. Why his people hadn’t rebelled was beyond me, because he was a very incompetent king. I mean… he didn’t even know about crop rotation, how did he feed his people? And that reminds me, this world felt so empty… the story was so focused on the MCs that anyone else is hardly mentioned, and the planet seems to be populated by Lothan, Ada, his advisor and his wife, one single guard, the pit master and two guards (who are killed, so…). Ah, and the little orphan they “save” only to foist him off to the advisor and later claim he’s like a son to them after like five minutes talking to him, during which they make promises to the kid only to break them. Made me really mad on the little one’s behalf.
There’s no chemistry between these two, so the sex scenes felt kinda forced. They were just horny. Dear God, were they horny. Especially Ada. I mean, you have to be extremely horny (and incredibly insensitive) to fuck the guy while he’s bleeding to death (I was commenting on this situation with my husband, and his only question was WHY?). Plus, they’re standing, and he’s bleeding from a major injury to his leg, so… please, tell me how he could do that. No, really, explain it to me. Because physiologically speaking that would be impossible. Research. Your. Stuff. And you can say “but he’s an alien”. Yes, but in the whole book there’s nothing, and I mean nothing, that made me believe their physiology was that different from a human’s (except for the black blood, which is mentioned twice). They don’t even have fast healing, just the healing pools, but in an escape pod in the middle of space they didn’t have access to that.
In my mind, the assassin brother (can’t even remember his name, that’s how one-dimensional every character was) blows up the space station with all the priests and his brothers during the meeting to hear their father’s last words (at about a quarter in), and takes over. And not because I liked him better than everyone else, but because he was the only one with enough neurons to pull something like that.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Stolen by Starlight by Sara Ivy Hill is a sci-fi romance. It's the first book from the Warrior Kings of Alioth.

Ada, her sister Lena, and a few other girls were abducted from their homes by the Frathiks. They kept them for days in a cage and were going to sell them in an auction. Jara Lothan frequently disguised himself and went to fight. That night he felt his Alara in that place, and when he found her he was ready to do anything to get her. Ada was kidnapped for a second time, leaving behind her sister. No matter how hot her new kidnapper was, her only thought was to free Lena. Lothan was trying to convince her that she was his fateful mate and at the same time find her sister. Ada's love for her younger sibling that she would sacrifice anything to get her back, even her soulmate.

It's a full-length sci-fi romance that is filled with lust, love, and suspense. The story is told by dual pov, it has a steady pace and very detailed descriptions. The mix between the romance and suspense is balanced which made the plot captivating. The characters had intense chemistry. I loved that both of them were strong-willed. Ada, even though as a human was portrayed as weak next to the
aliens, she was very clever and fearless. Lothan was a sexy, bossy, hank of an alien. I liked his possessiveness and caring nature towards his queen. My favorite parts were when they were alone in the space and the epilogue with the greenling.

Stolen by Starlight is a great book that I highly recommend to sci-fi readers. I will rate it with 4 stars.

💜 “Goddess, she is divine. And she is mine. Mine to worship for the rest of our days.”
~~~
Ada is amazing! Despite everything she’s been through in her life, she’s so admirably strong, kind and caring. But, even more, there is so much fire inside her! I loved her so much!
Jara Lothan is one fearsome rainbow with teeth! Oh, what a magnificent male he is! He’s such a good and fair king. And, even more, he’s so protective, honorable, thoughtful, patient, funny and fiercely possessive. I adored him!
The development of their relationship was so perfect! Despite the undeniable attraction between them, it took time for Ada to open her heart. But I loved Lothan’s determination to win and protect his mate no matter the cost or sacrifices he had to make. They were such a wonderful match with amazing chemistry. And the passion and love they shared was so deliciously steamy!
In addition, the worldbuilding was phenomenal! I loved the Irrans and their ability to change color based on their mood. And Lothan’s brothers were a fearsome lot - I can’t wait to read more about them!
Overall, the story is a magnificent start of the series! It’s filled with fast-paced action, danger, evil priests, suspense, twists, scorching hot romance and wonderful characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see how the story will continue in the next books!
Stolen by Starlight (Warrior Kings of Alioth)
by Sara Ivy Hill
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Here we have an alien abduction/fated mates romance. No matter how many alien romances I read it never fails to amaze me how unique a spin each author can put on a similar premise. The world building was fascinating and the descriptions of this new world leaves the reader with a vivid picture of the scenes.
Our heroine is scrappy, relatable, eloquent and kind without being saccharine sweet. Our hero is a large brooding alpha male who enjoys fighting but also strives to be a good leader, to be wise and fair and willing to learn. The chemistry these two have is tangible and steamy yet also fun.
This has the makings of a great series with 6 royal brothers and a number of ladies that need locating after their alien abduction.
Kudos to Sara Ivy hill on her first book. I look forward to the next. 5/5
The Sitch: Lothan, Jara of Loth-Irran (I think? they blended), needs to blow off some steam so he heads to the fighting pits. A group of human women, referred to as terrakin, are on the verge of being auctioned off. Lothan gets a whiff of Ada (and considering they were kidnapped and hadn't bathed, I can only imagine) and of course, knows that this is his Alara, his queen and the female destined for him. Naturally, he takes her and while you'd think this is a good thing? Not really, since he separates her from her sister Lena and she spends the rest of the book trying to get back to her. But at some point, romance happens. And some sex. Hey-oh.
The Good: I liked the setup, the aliens's distinguishing feature here is they have mood skin - it changes with their current feelings, which ok seems the genitalia isn't vibrator-like, just ginormous (of course). The setup for the conflict between Lothan, his brothers, and the priests who worship Alioth (their Starlight Goddess), has potential. The climactic, action-y scenes towards the end kept me engaged and wondering what's going to happen, which is great. Having said that....
The Bad: Look, the milkshake that brings me to this particular yard is always the romance. I want the connection to be strong and make that insta-love work. Here, it's a very one-sided kind of romance and I could almost picture Lothan offering everything and Ada shoving her hand in his face and being like "that's nice but my sister." Which I understand. I think it makes sense that she's invested in getting her sister back. She should. But I also need to believe that she was so in love with Lothan that her essentially leaving the question of her missing sister up in the air for future books also makes sense. Here, I believed that Ada was definitely dickmatized. I'm just not sure she was in love with him.
The Bottom Line: As a starting point for the series, it's a serviceable setup book. The romance is only ok, but the potential for future story is what is getting me to read the next book.
Out of this World Love
Cute story. Ada and her sister were 2 of many Earthly women abducted by aliens spacecraft. To be sold off as slaves or concubines. Ada wants nothing more than to escape and get her and her sister to safety.
Lothan is one of 6 sons of the recently departed Emperor of the 5 planets. As a King over his own planet he often goes into the pits to fight other warriors. One day he comes across a scent and he immediately knows that his Fated Mate is near.
Lothan steals Ada from the auction block and works overtime to prove to her that she is his Fated Mate. Lothan was absolutely ADORABLE and Ada just wouldn't budge. He was willing to go to hell and back to help find Ada's sister as well as give up his kingdom to spend his last days with her.
There is alot going on in this story so you have to concentrate to grasp all of the moving parts. Looking forward to read about the next brother in line to meet his Fated Mate
I loved this book. It caught my attention right from the beginning. Great world building. I loved the atmosphere. I loved the uniqueness of the Irran species with their skin color that changes with their emotions and can camouflage. I found their belief system of the Goddess a nice inclusion to the story. Ada's predicament kept me in rapt attention of her being kidnapped from Earth by an alien species, along with her sister and other women, to be sold. She is stolen away by King Lothan, who cannot understand her language and doesn't understand her desperation to return to save her sister and the other women. Ada and Lothan have great chemistry, but she doesn't believe him when he tries to convince her she's his fated mate, destined to rule beside him as his queen. I loved this story. I couldn't put it down. It's the first book I've read by this author. I can wait for the sequel. 5 stars.
Y’know, sometimes you just need an alien romance novel and this was a pretty good one. The miscommunication at the beginning was fun and I actually thought the world building was very thorough and unique, and I found the story outside of the romance really engaging. Obviously people aren’t reading this for the science, but I think the author has set herself up to develop a pretty interesting series. I found Ada a little wishy-washy and sometimes thought the way she talked about her sister was condescending but overall I had a fun time reading this and really, what more could you ask for?
3.5 ⭐️
This was way sweeter than I thought it was going to be.
I love couples that are reverse of stereotype personalities for their looks. Lothan looks deadly, acts like a sweetie. Ada looks like a softie, will cut you.
I can see though where this is trying to do the Ice Planet Barbarian thing of hinting/setting up potential couples for the next book/s.
Honestly, I’ll probably give the next book in the series a chance at some point and just see how it goes from there if I’ll keep going with them.
coloring changing aliens? good times!
-color changing aliens
-fated mates
-HEA
I loved the idea of aliens changing colors based on their emotions. Reminds me of the little mood rings I used to buy as a kid.
I took a star off for ADA and that girl literally put herself in danger for no reason at all and would not listen at all. I know they were strangers and she really couldn’t trust anyone, but he proved himself again and again.
Still, I found the story exciting. I loved their relationship with Biinji.
Eeek I wish I liked this one but unfortunately I just didn't. The set up and premise was interesting, and I liked the world building, but the characters just killed it for me. They were a bit too one-dimensional and their actions kept frustrating me.
This book 1 in The Warrior Kings of Alioth Book Series has an interesting story with intriguing characters. This well written book has strong characters with unique histories in an intriguing world. It had some very well-thought out scenes and story plots. These characters have very strong will, unique personalities and believable interactions. This story is a steamy romance featuring a growly alien hero, a smart heroine, and plenty of adventure with a guaranteed HEA This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, action, variety of races, humans, danger, love, steam and a HEA.
I’ve been on an alien / mate binge and let me tell you, some of them are very cringe worthy and cheesy. This one was a pleasant surprise for me!
There was action, good characters and a nice amount of steam. 🔥
I also like how Lothan was very much alpha but not so over the top as others I’ve seen, and he does treat her with respect and his character really grows throughout the book.
I wish a few things were expanded on, and I felt the end action was a little rushed, but overall this was one of my favorite alien romances!
I had the immense pleasure of reading an ARC for this one and LOVED it! I also forgot it was an arc and immediately went looking for book 2 😆 As a serial series starter and never finisher that must mean it’s pretty darn good.
Can’t wait for the next in the series!
