lol the fact that i'm now adding my textbooks to my goodreads goal..

this textbook was one of the easiest to read and honestly most enjoyable textbooks i've read. it managed to keep me interested with the chapters being short and concise enough to read and the examples being a great learning technique. i feel like the textbook really enhanced my learning and helped me get through my research methods course.

Overall, this is a good source for learning about the methods involved in research, however there are several times when the author's language explains nothing. In the third grade they teach you not to define a word with the word, I would add that a circular explanation is just as worthless, and the author has several times that he uses this method i.e. the hypothesis of the hypothesis is a hypothesis (just an example). For students who are attempting to learn new material that type of circular explanation does not aid understanding.

I found this text extremely helpful for advanced research methods. This book expanded my research practices and allowed me to formulate my own research methods for my semester project. I am not the biggest fan of textbooks but I do like the clarity of this book, it’s digestible.

As far as textbooks go, I enjoyed this book. I thought it explained the concepts very well, which is nice since my prof didn't do lectures alongside the text reading.

I read this mostly to get some background in social / behavioral research methods to have common language with my cross-disciplinary research team, and to have some better understanding of issues in human studies. It's the textbook used by one of my thesis advisers in her undergrad psych research methods course.

As my main research background comes from complex systems and computer science, I marveled at the quaintness of single IV / single DV studies while actually learning quite a lot about ethical and psychological considerations in human research.

This book is beautifully structured, clearly written, and covers basic traditional research methods very well. It however lacks sufficient depth to be more than just an introduction. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs either an introduction to the topic or a quick way to crash-course the research terminology used in behavioral science.

My one real complaint is that I wish the book had included modeling and simulation and participatory action research in its overview of various research methods. But then, I might be biased as those are where my own interests lie.

I will make a disclaimer that I have not read my entire way through this book. I know that is against the rules for this site, but I figure there can be a little bit of leniency with textbooks, since many classes don't require a reading through of the whole thing.

This book makes methods easy to understand and accessible for those who are not familiar with the concepts. The reading is not to difficult or heavy and uses appropriate examples to assist with teaching concepts.

The chapters of this book seem to contain most of the necessary information within them without being bloated and overwritten. If you need this book for a research methods course, it won't be too much of a bear to read.

Obviously this book has to be thought of in a textbook sense. That said, no it is not always exciting, but it gets the job done. I think it does a rear her nice job of taking research methods one should already be familiar with and adding substance to them. Whether you plan to do research or not, this book can be of help to you if you ever encounter research that you would like to be able to understand. It goes from what each method is and how they are conducted, to the way each is broken down, how the stats see figured, what is being said by certain figures, and how to be sure the studies you read and see are accurate based upon how scientists are to conduct research. There is more to it, but this is it in a nutshell.

This book is basic, very basic. If you major in Psychology or have taken a statistics course before, you will have learned most of the material that is presented in this book already. This Textbook was easy to read and understand and the author successfully delivered the text in an fun and enjoyable manner. In addition, this book’s appendix is excellent for reference of the APA style and statistical methods. Easy book, easy material and easy grade I guess (If you are using it for a college course).

Experimental psychology texts are often poorly written and unnecessarily painful. Not so with this one. Cozby's is the best text I have come across for undergraduate students taking a first course in research methods. Without sacrificing accuracy, Cozby presents the main ideas of research design and analysis in an engaging and accessible format. More advanced students will likely find it lacking, but this is an excellent text for beginners.

out of the textbooks that I have read, this one was easier to read, and I really liked how the chapters were never longer than 10 pages. it was concise and to the point on its topics and methods! it was a great review of some things I had already learned, and helped me learn new things and ingrain them into memory defiantly one of the better textbooks I have had to read in my major

As far as research methods texts go, this one is short and basic and easy to understand. It's perfect for undergraduates who just need to know the fundamentals of scientific research methods and not every possible obscure research design.

This one is not the best analytical book I think there are other ones that are much better. In some cases I think it is overly simplified but if you are a lay person who is looking to figure out this basics this may be for you.

While it wasn't a page-turner, this was a very accessible survey of research methods.
