A guide for every empath and spiritually sensitive soul to explore their abilities with exercises, affirmations, and creative journaling, as well as methods to protect themselves.
Are you an empath looking to better understand yourself and your place in the Universe?
To be an empath is an art form—to discover how our perceptions guide and inform us, shape us, and at times limit us, requires extraordinary awareness. It also requires the skills and the strength of a lion because it takes real courage to be empathic. The good news is that there are ways to protect yourself while living with an open heart and this book shows you how to use creative visualization for that purpose.
The Way of the Empath explores ways to understand empathy and how to use mystical, spiritual, and imaginative insight to better understand our place in the universe. You'll learn how to see the unseen and welcome the mysteries of life through psychic events and fun encounters.
With a guiding hand, The Way of the Empath covers how This book will allow you to experience synchronicity and serendipity while living with great zeal and mirth—the sign of true heart-centered intelligence!
Elaine Clayton is an artist, author, certified Reiki Master, Intuitive Reader, workshop instructor, and the creator of Illuminara Intuitive Journal. She is the author and illustrator of several books for children, and illustrator of books by Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Jane Smiley and Wicked author Gregory Maguire among others. She practices Reiki and Intuitive Healing in New York City and Connecticut, where she lives with her family.
“The unseen forces of emotional and mental energy tend to dominate empaths' lives, because they are always on the lookout for moments of gentle appreciation, for spontaneous spiritual connections, and for compassionate exchanges with others. They are always open to elucidations of what, to others, seems ordinary.” This book made me feel very seen.
As an author who doesn't just aim to help empaths but even to show them "The Way," Elaine supplies a surprisingly vague idea of what an empath is in the first place.
VAGUE, YET HIGHLY DRAMATIC
Elaine Clayton writes about being an empath, "It also requires the skills and the strength of a lion because it takes real courage to be empathic."
My response? No courage required if you’re a born empath, though.
To me, Elaine’s adulatory statement is tantamount to telling human readers, “It requires the skills and the strength of a lion to wear fingernails at the ends of your fingers.” If you're an empath, you're an empath.
If you are really an empath (which Elaine isn't, according to research on her that that I've facilitated, using the Energy Spirituality SENSITIVITY SCALE), living as an empath doesn't require a lion's courage. It's just how many humans happen to be born. In my view, if you're a born empath, it definitely helps to learn how to become a Skilled Empath. That's what I teach as Empath Empowerment®.
SORRY TO DISLIKE A BOOK THAT ELAINE'S FELLOW ARTISTS MAY LOVE
Look, I only read enough of this book to be able to report on how Elaine’s method for empaths is different from my trademarked system of Real-Deal Empath Empowerment. (You can find my series of four “Empath Empowerment Books” here on Goodreads.)
Recently I’ve discovered that empath “experts” are publishing a plethora of books and articles. All of the 30 authors I’ve researched so far are giving real Empath Empowerment® a bad name. You’re all invited to check out a current blogpost where I research the offerings of these unqualified authors, unqualified based on what they teach. I call that article “Can That Empath Teacher REALLY Help You?” See Comments #1836 – 1896. Goodreaders, I’m doing what I can to bring clarity.
RATING THIS BOOK
If you read the bio that Elaine Clayton has supplied to Amazon.com, as the author of this book, sweet! Elaine has had an uncommonly successful career as an artist. As a teacher of empaths, however, she doesn't seem to know what she's talking about. Although her theories surely can appeal to some readers in an "art for art's sake" kind of way.
Meanwhile I give this book TWO STARS in honor of its intended readership. I take that to be artistically-minded people who want to feel something special, and even explore a bit under Elaine's guidance as a Reiki Master and, now, self-appointed healer for our world.
Thank you for writing this book on being an empath, you have helped me to better understand what I have been feeling and experiencing all of my life. I am often overwhelmed by all of the information coming at me from all sides. I will take to heart and practice what you are teaching to harness my experiences. Learn how to weed out the negativity, to recognize what is mine and someone else’s. What an eye and heart opener your book is. It was just what I needed to read right now with everything going on in the world.
I did not read all of this. It was not what I thought it would be. It didn't seem to be about healing at all. It explains a few things about what the author thinks empaths are and how they react to lots of things in their lives. It basically tells you to take time, see how things around you are making you feel, thus how you are reacting to outside forces. Then you can teach yourself to see the signs and get space to not react, but figure out how you want to act on these things instead. It's written with lots of words, some big, that really could have been boiled down to so much less.
Not earth shattering or life changing, but it confirmed some things I thought. It also elaborated on something’s and gave a fee strategies worth trying. The best part of this was that I feel validated in so many feelings and ideas and not just like I’m crazy and overly sensitive. This just haloed me better grasp why I am the way I am. (I actually made notes and marked pages so that’s a good sign.
This lovely book helps everyone understand those gentle souls who approach the world with a special sensitivity to the feelings, energy, and vibrations of people, places, and things. Our world desperately needs more empathy and the healing it brings, and engaging with this book shows us how to recognize and appreciate empathy in others and develop and nurture it in ourselves.
I really appreciated this book because it discussed being an empath on a spiritual level. While other books have defined the different types of empaths this one didn’t but it provided a great overview on how spirituality affects empaths. I related to this book so much and it helped put things into perspective. Highly recommend to those who want to deepen their gifts / spirituality.
This book taught me more about what it means to be an empath. I also learned strategies to protect myself from feeling hurt, disappointed, anxious, and sad when other people don't reciprocate empathy. I appreciated the clear and direct writing style.
As an Empath, this book had alot of spot on moments and really helpful mind opening info that I am excited to now know. The exercises with drawing in there have been so cool to do at home/with friends. Good read!
