(Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for a review)

Finally decided to pick this one up and am very much delighted by it. Requested this in the first place because:
1) I love shojo manga
2) The female character, Madoka is also shojo obsessed. Like...... she's literally me (⁙˘꒫˘⁙)

Reckoned by the similarities, you can expect the partiality towards Madoka. I love how the manga starts with her gushing about the shojo she reads; recognizing the essence of the said genre.

Howbeit, I wasn't a big fan of the male protagonist in the beginning. He made a bad first impression with the jerk appearance. Still and all, his character arc is amazing throughout which we later discover where his indifferences comes from. The matter that was set forth by the mangaka was distinctive compared to other shojo manga I've read before.

This also brings me to point out that this was my first time reading an older woman/young man couple which usually isn't in my best interest but this one was well elucidated and fit the tone. Couldn't wait to see what's in store for Volume 2 since the manga ends in a cliffhanger.

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of romance type manga, especially when it’s kinda funny and so cute. Which I why I wanted to read this one to begin with. Now I’m not into younger individuals myself, but omg I love this graphic novel sooooo sooooo much!!!

It’s really funny!! Like no, I seriously laughed so hard I gave myself an asthma attack. True story. (I’m fine btw) But the dynamic between Madoka and Shikura Kun is great. The moody closed off boy and the protective older girl. Their interactions just cracked me up. She looks at him and he kind of sparkles. It’s hilarious!

Their romance is a slow sweet thing too. No jumping in head first. But I like that they get to know each other first. Makes it even cuter.

Her parents are super funny too. But mainly because I see my own parents in them and I just want to shake my head and smile.

Anyway, I’m getting dangerously close to spoiling the plot and I don’t want to do that. If you’re into sweet romance manga that is really funny, this is the book for you!!! I recommend this one all the way!!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Kodansha Comics, and Nakaba Harufuji for the opportunity to read this for my honest and unbiased opinion!!!!

Madoka likes her cute fluffy boys and wants nothing more than a junior she could care for. When the younger Shikura starts work with her and proves himself to be a horse’s ass, it appears that he’s nothing that she needs in her life. But there are many things about this situation that aren’t quite what they appear…

Well, damn. I didn’t think this was amounting to much of anything from the description and Shikura’s initial attitude is so miserably hostile that I felt he was beyond redemption. Turns out this is an utter blast of a first volume and way more than it seems on first glance.

It quickly becomes apparent that Madoka might love helpless boys, but she also won’t take any crap. She is in Shikura’s face after he’s rude as hell to her and on top of that it’s quickly revealed that Shikura isn’t just some bad boy with a sadistic streak (the book even teases this possibility from the start in a clever bit).

Then Shikura apologizes. A couple of times. And loses his phone a bunch. And his keys. And smacks his head on things. And trips on the door. And is constantly being hounded by female admirers. And thinks kissing Madoka is a great way to fend them off. It turns out his hot face is hiding a hot mess - conveniently of the type that Madoka just happens to like.

And of the two, they both cause problems. Shikura by being too guarded and Madoka by being far too deferential and trying to keep her distance so she doesn’t bother him. Turns out that when they connect they do so very well - there’s a definite give and take to these two that puts them on relatively equal footing, but from different places.

One of the rarest things in a series like this is for both leads to be interesting - usually one or the other gets short shrift. No such issue here - they both bring their own distinct personalities to the table and the story feels more rounded for it.

It’s hard to believe that this is the author’s first series because I fell in love with this book as it went on. It has some of the best chibi asides of any shojo I’ve read in ages and both characters are so good - Madoka in particular is incredibly funny. Her parents are great too - the way she ends up on a first name basis with Shikura is hilarious.

The art is standard, but definitely a high quality standard. Despite people laying into Madoka for being “ugly”, well, offering up muttered asides anyway, she is anything but and, as noted, her expressions are absolutely astounding.

I also really like that this is a school book, but there’s practically no school involved as of yet. The driving action is primarily associated with the diner that Madoka and Shikura work at with only occasional glimpses of school life. Not only is it refreshing to not see the same old scenarios at the start, but the mangaka can rely on them later on if need be - it’s a win-win.

I guess if I had to pick on anything, it would probably be waiting for the sparks to fly between these too, where Madoka is being annoyed and Shikura is being deserving of being annoyed at. It takes time, but it definitely builds to something that really pays off.

I don’t know that I can give this less than five stars because it takes a scenario that I hate and shortly twists it around to something I really loved. We end with a promise of maybe something next time (or maybe nothing) that is more than enough to bring me back. A really, really unique pair of characters and a cute spin on stories like this.

This manga was a much needed and welcome reprieve from some heavier recent reads! It was really sweet and I enjoyed it so much!

The setup isn’t quite enemies-to-lovers, but there is definitely a dynamic including mutual dislike at the start, which makes for fun tension as well as an interesting relationship arc — much more interesting IMO than tropes like “friends to lovers” and such.

This dynamic is handled well here and has a fairly original approach, but the emotions are still very relatable: there is mistrust on one side, and annoyance the mistrust and assumptions on the other. The shift isn’t as gradual as it might have been, but it worked well, and also involved a gradual unveiling of a surprising side to Shikura-kun’s personality, which doesn’t match his looks not the first impression he gives. I enjoyed that we as the readers find that out gradually at the same time as Madoka does, I think it helps us build a connection to both characters.

Overall this was really charming and sweet, featuring likeable characters and an interesting dynamic; the characters grew on me very quickly, and I’d love to read the next installment!

Definitely recommended to anyone who likes shoujo manga!

*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review*

This was a total delight to read! Such a cute and surprisingly amusing shojo romance manga!

All of the characters were fantastic. The fact that the male love interest wasn’t actually a rude guy was like icing on the cake! He wasn’t remotely tsundere, he was actually very sweet albeit a little wary at first. I found that to be very refreshing and the whole younger guy, older girl called for a different and interesting dynamic.

The atmosphere was very wholesome, cute, and funny throughout and this was spurred on by the protagonist finding the love interest cute, the love interest acting like a doofus scatter-brain, and most surprisingly of all, the protagonist’s parents being the biggest shippers of us all!

There’s really nothing to fault here! A fantastic start to what’s surely going to be a much-loved manga series.

Just when I was thinking it's been too long since I last read a shojo romance manga (13 days to be precise), Kodansha comes through like an absolute lad with this ARC fresh off of Netgalley. Can't wait to see this tsundere guy and kawaii girl hit it off!

This is a really sweet take on a Shojo story. We have an adorable clumsy hero, and a heroine who has a thing for the younger guys. The fact that our hero is attractive and a year younger than her, she is having a hard time resisting his charms.
The art is great, and I really love the story. Can't wait for volume 2!

ARC provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Madoka Kawahara is a fan of shojo manga, especially those where the male lead is younger than the protagonist. Little does she know, fiction might become reality when her dad hires a new part-timer, Momoki Shikura, who is a year younger than her. However, he is a far cry from the cute kohai she tends to like in manga, he is rude, and it feels like he can’t stand her presence. The truth is, once he lets his walls down, Shikura can be cute and totally Modoka’s type!!

After reading the first three pages of the manga, I was worried because what I was reading wasn’t the type of manga that I usually like. I thought it was going to be childish, but surprisingly, it wasn’t, and I ended up enjoying it the manga much more than I thought.

Even though she likes cute boys in manga, Madoka isn’t the sweet character you might expect. She doesn’t mind telling Shikura off when he goes too far, rather than keep sulking about his bad behavior. It doesn’t only apply to Shikura, she had a sharp tongue and doesn’t let people walk all over her. For once, it was nice to have a female character act like this. On the other hand, Shikura is a tsundere character, who doesn’t have the best behavior, but he does apologize to Madoka (you are earning good points!).

I also liked that the two leads are not in the same school, therefore most of the scenes take place at the restaurant where they both work, which was a nice change since shojo manga tends to take place in a school setting.

One thing that confuse me though is the fact that Shikura has “fans”, like the synopsis states, so I thought that it would, later on, be revealed that he is some kind of star. It wasn't the case, so I’m even more confused. I guess they are just high schoolers who are obsessed because he is handsome.

First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley and Kodansha for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4 stars
Personally, I enjoyed the lighthearted moments in this first volume of the manga. I was mainly attracted to this because of the cover. The artstyle is very reminiscent of a lot of shojo/romance series which I personally like. The characters were drawn beautifully and our main love interest definitely intrigued me.

The storyline is straightforward with a blooming relationship/friendship between a girl, Madoka and the seemingly stiff and gruff younger guy whom always closed himself off from other girls. I really like how Madoka deals with things in certain situations, she is not pushy nor take things for granted. She is also not afraid to confront something that makes her uncomfortable. Its a cute and sweet interactions between the pairs and I'm excited to see their development.

Reccommended for those who loves cute romance

Madoka is a high-school girl who loves reading Shojo Manga and especially the trope involving a younger guy and his sempai. So she is thrilled to bits when Shikura-kun, a handsome Kohai joins her father's store as a part-time worker. But her joy quickly turns to anger when she is subjected to Shikura's rudeness and snobbish nature. As the two slowly get to know to each other, Madoka realizes that there is more to Shikura-kun's nature than what meets the eye.

I just read the blurb and enjoyed the premise. This is one of those fairly straightforward fluffy enemies to friends to lovers mangas and you know where it is heading. The artwork is beautiful and engaging. Madoka seems like a self-assured heroine and Shikura, save for that ungraceful start, hopefully shouldn't be a toxic main-lead. I don't really know if I want to continue with this series because I would have preferred this to be a solid standalone read.

You’re My Cutie was so unexpectedly adorable and I ended up loving it so much. It has the vibes of a classic shojo manga and is so fluffy, sweet and lighthearted; it just warmed my heart so much. This was the perfect light read that you can pick up on a stressful day. While this was definitely cliched, its cliche-ness made me love it so much more. And of course, I can’t end this review without mentioning the stunning artstyle; the characters are all so beautifully drawn and I loved how hilarious some of their expressions were throughout this volume.

I know that I’ll be coming back to this and reading it again and again, for the comfort it provides and I cannot wait to read more of this wonderfully sweet manga.

Thanks to NetGalley for the digital advance copy of this story.

I just reviewed You're My Cutie, Volume 1 by Nakaba Harufuji. #YoureMyCutieVolume1 #NetGalley

Well, this is a cutie!

This is the first volume of You're My Cutie by Nakaba Harufuji. This story is about Madoka who finds herself working with Shikura, with who she had a terrible first encounter. The more they interacted together, the more they realized they both had the wrong impression of each other. This volume is a good introduction to our main characters and their personalities.

This manga is so pretty! The characters were done well, and Shikura is really cute which he is supposed to, considering the plot of the story. There's a lot of shoujo cliche scenes happening in this volume, but their personality, like Shikura actually being an introverted klutz, gives it a bit of uniqueness.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced eARC.

4,5/5 estrellas

4,5/5 stars

I loved it, it's a very cute story.

Madoka is a girl who likes cute and soft boys, who don't mind showing their weaknesses or depending on other people, a cinnamon roll. One day, helping her parents in the restaurant, she meets a boy who starts working there temporarily, Shikura.

At first they clash a lot, Shikura does not trust anyone, much less the girls since until now they have only approached him out of interest, but little by little a relationship of friendship and trust is born between him and Madoka, thus showing his true personality and increasingly leaving aside that grumpy part.

One of the things I like the most about this manga is that there is no love relationship from the beginning, things go little by little, and I adore Shikura. He is a puppy hiding in the skin of a lone wolf, I love it when he is vulnerable or embarrassed.

A fairly soft manga with a story that is simmering. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

It was very few pages in that I had to put my phone down, stare at a wall and exclaim "It's an enemies to lovers!" We are dropped in this world with these two adorable high schoolers and the time they spend with each other at their work in a restaurant. There's a distinct behavioural arc from the beginning to the end, as they both grow accustomed to their unique communication patterns. It was so cute to see this young girl trying to understand this new situation and also her feeling and reactions. Like, bless them because they made my day reading this.

I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy reading manga romances! I would also recommend buying both volumes upfront, because I have just ordered my copy of volume two!!!

I tend to say no to romance stories and I prefer books with as little romance as possible. It’s actually not quite true. I like romance but it has to be hyper cute and adorable. Like so cute you want to scream…😅 And it has to make sense for me, no instant love please, true feelings take time and effort…😉
And this manga was super adorable! I liked both Madoka and Shikura and their slow-to-start romance makes so much sense with his predicament. Although what kind of girls does he meet in his life?!..Seriously amazing and creepy if Madoka’s sensible behaviour is so rare…😂
The first volume ended in a cliffhanger (not surprising) and I would love to read more about Madoka and Shikura in the future!😊

This was really cute, no pun intended.

Madoka, a high school sophomore, works part time at her family's restaurant but what she really loves is reading shojo manga. The next thing she know the new hire looks like he stepped right out one of one. I really appreciate how within this first volume the mangaka has changed up certain tropes such as having a female lead that's a year older than the male lead and addressing how male characters shouldn't have to put up with unwanted attention from female characters just as female characters shouldn't have to put up with it from their male counterparts. I also really appreciate how the two leads learn how to communicate with one another. I very interested to see where this series will go.

The artwork is cute, beautiful and funny when necessary. The storyline is solid and the characters are all real and three-dimensional. I love it and want more.

Definitely one I will be recommending at the store and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

First and foremost, I'd like to express my gratitude to Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an e-ARC of this manga.

This manga is quite cute. The relationship between the younger boyfriend and the elder girlfriend was beautifully depicted. I adored the cold guy on the appearance who was truly a softie on the heart, and I adored your troupe. Their adorable times together, as well as the way they care for and protect each other without offending their partners' feelings, are CUTE!!!

* I received an e-arc copy of this manga through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. *

I love shojo manga and when I saw this one on the home of NetGalley I was litterally attracted by the cover.

In this manga we have Madoka, a girl obsessed with shojo manga ( I can understand you Madoka lol) , specifically manga that feature younger, innocent guys who fall for their Senpai.
When Madoka isn't at school she works at her family's restaurant.
His father decided to hire a part-timer to help them in the restaurant, Shikura, a guy one year younger than Madoka.
She should be thrilled when he comes to work at her father's restaurant but their first meet was not the best. He's rude and standoffissh and want nothing to do with her.
After this bad "first meet" she'll do something to help him and his behavior will change.

First of all, the art work is amazing, I really love this kind of draw and when the drawing are amazing I think that the story have already a plus point.
Until now I have always read manga in which the boy was older, I appreciate this change of role.
Madoka is a character who doesn't lets anyone push her around and she intrigues me a lot.
It's a quick read that I have appreciate.
There is only one particular that I didn't like and is the quickly change in Shikura's behaviour.
I would have preferred a longer development, but I'm curious about how the story will unfold.

This was a cute read with gorgeous art throughout. I could not stop looking at the pages, it is so pretty.
The paneling does a really smooth job at conveying the character’s intentions and feelings.

I found that the story and the characters don’t really move away from cute though. It wasn’t a character heavy read and most of the main guy’s redeeming qualities were that he was irresistibly cute. Maybe I am not the right target for shoujo manga, but I expected a bit more depth for the writing.

The idea of Shikura being stand-offish because he had bad experience with girls was a good concept but I felt like it fell a bit flat in the execution.. He was super rude to Madoka for no reason at the beginning of the story. It also made no sense why other girls would immediately flock to “stalk” Shikura for looking handsome but diss Madoka. She looked just as good as any other girl in the book.

It didn’t make a whole lot of sense why it would be fun for all those girls to follow Shikura around if he was so rude to all of them. I get why he would be closed off and wary after girls trying to get handsy with him but he was downright paranoid at the beginning of the story chalking up every normal human interaction to people trying to take advantage of him. And given his history it didn’t make a lot of sense why he’d be okay touching and kissing Madoka without any consent..

I liked that they discussed their communication issues towards the end of the book but it didn’t feel like they had actually gotten to know each other during this first volume. A bit more character depth and meaningful interactions with maybe a slowburn romance would make this a wonderful manga.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha for the e-ARC of this manga.

First of all, I'd like to say that I really love the art style for this manga!! It is neat and extremely gorgeous that I keep admiring the art style while reading the manga. The characters are also really cute especially when they look like dogs or in chibi version. The concept of handsome, cool guy but careless is quite funny. I enjoyed seeing Momoki being unconsciously cute and Madoka just there, stopping herself from adoring the guy hahahaha.

The storyline is simple and fast-paced, just like another shojo/romance manga, so it is not really unique. However, I'd still like to read more of this manga just for its fluffiness and the pretty art style! I bet we will know more about the male lead, Momoki Shikura in the next volume.

Disegni stupendi — 4,5 stelle

You’re My Cutie! mi ha davvero sorpresa in positivo!
