WOW! This book is even better than when I read it for the first time!
Honest Disclaimer: Yes, I did a beta read for Anita Clenney on this book a few weeks ago. The story was awesome then, but it's even better now!
I love finding out more about the Connor clan - especially how Faelen became the warrior and the man he is. I loved getting to know his family better... become a part of their world and lives for awhile. I loved, loved, loved the details about the Council, the talismen, the Book of Battles, the mysterious beginnings of the copy of the Connor clan castle in upstate New York, and Faelen's battle with Druan - the one that put him in the time vault that Bree opened in Book 1 Awaken the Highland Warrior.
This is an awesome book for those who haven't yet read the Warrior series, and even more for those who are anxiously awaiting the 3rd book in the series.
If you like alpha men in kilts fighting for good against evil (demons, halflings, vampires, etc.) then you really need to read this book!
This book was written and published after Awaken the Highland Warrior, but I recommend reading it before you read that one. Faelan: A Highland Warrior brief is a novella of about 103 pages. It is about Faelans life as a young boy, before he became the warrior that he is today, and why he is known as 'The Mighty Faelan'.
I am glad Mrs Clenney wrote this novella. It lets you see how Faelan interacted with his brothers, and family. It also lets you know what happened with his little brother Liam, all those years ago. You also will learn about how certain demons came to be in 'Awaken the Highland Warrior', and more about their history.
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading paranormal fiction. If you enjoyed reading Awaken the Highland Warrior, you will definitely want to read this novella.
I had such high hopes for this book. The premise sounded very interesting but I just couldn't finish it. There were too many characters introduced in the beginning of the book which was very confusing. I wasn't sure what the goal of the story was. Faelan had to destroy a demon but then he killed the demon approximately halfway through the book so it felt like the book climaxed too soon. Then Faelan was locked in a vault, so for a majority of the story he did nothing. Faelan also constantly was dreaming of this fantasy woman so I wasn't sure if the true goal was to find her or kill demons. There were also many lapses in time throughout the book, which drastically slowed the story down. I just couldn't get into this book and I frequently found myself skimming until I eventually gave up.
Loved it! It was great to see Faelan with his family and see how and why he became a great Warrior. Seeing things through his eyes was a nice perspective to see. What great pride the Connor Clan has! (both male and female) We learn about his brothers and Sister.I love seeing how they interacted with each other. It was also really interesting learning the dynamics between the demons. This book really fills in all those good tidbits I wondered about after reading Awaken The Highland Warrior. I am so looking forward to Book 3! Anita Clenney has written another winner in my book! (pun intended)
This is how events lead to Awaken the Highland Warrior. It's a short story explaining Faelans life leading towards that fateful day he became locked in the time vault. Anita doesn't disappoint with her story telling, this may not be as long as Awaken and Embrace, but it's packed with mystery and intrigue just like the rest of the series. We learn more about Faelan and why he is so fiercely protective of those he loves.
This book gave me answers. After reading the first 2 books, I really needed more answers. I was asking so many questions my head was spinning (in a totally fun way, I promise!) So thank you for this one. I really enjoyed seeing the back story of Falean's life. This filled in a few holes, made me make some guesses about new mysteries and excited me about the possibility of seeing a bit more of the Connor Clan and their eternal battle. Loved it!
Thank you, Thank you for this book on Faelan's early years!!! It was so good to be back with the Connor Clan again and find out some more information on how Faelan was put into the Time Vault. Since it's been a awhile since I read the first two books, I started Book one again as soon as I finished this novella :)
I enjoyed finding how Faelan ended up becoming the warrior in the first book of this series. Yes, it goes into more details about his little brother but the family bond between him & Tavis... Wow! You find much out, yet learn more will come in later books, you hope... :-) Well written! Kept me hanging for the next book!
What a fantastic book, Faelans life story after reading about him in the 2 books it is nice to get to know him before and how he ended up in the time capsul for 150years before Bree free's him. I recommend this book, but read the first 2 first.
I already read about Faelan. I waa disappointed that the story didn't continue. Although this book told more about it all in the beginning. It really should have been the first book.
It was just a copy of earlier books in she's series Very disappointing Very little new information. If you are buying the booms In the series , I would skip this one.
This novella does fill in some gaps but not all. The traitor is still unknown. We do find out the secret that Druan has over Tristol and vice versa as well as the cloaked castle. However, much is still unknown and I'm not sure we'll find out, which is disappointing.
This book was really interesting discovering how Faelan became a great warrior. From childhood to adulthood e finding the love of his life. I recommend it to you with a 5 Stars review.
In the vault, what did Faelan see, feel, and do? Was he alive? How could he help Bree? I loved the book. It was full of mystery and intrigue. The book covered what really happened before Varian was locked in the vault. The book fills in what was missing in the last book.
This was a quick sweet read. There were a lot more details about Faelan' s life than were in the first. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I am enjoying this series.
This book was written after Awaken the Highland Warrior but to be honest I felt that I already knew what Faelan would be like as a child/young man due to his caring, protective and chauvinistic adult character.
In this book you get a real feel for how special he was at a child and all the responsibility he took on at an early age. As he grows up you get to walk through his life from his perspective. This book furthermore clears up some curious questions I had from other books in this series.
I really enjoyed Nandor, his horse empowered by Michael as a protection while he fights the demon’s who is spiritually connected to him. And even more intriguing is the romantic twist introduced while he was very young and who he meets in his dreams.
You really need to read this book and feel Faelan’s loving support for family and other warriors in his clan.

Anita Clenney shares the back story of Faelan, the hero of Awaken the Highland Warrior in this short prequel. The reader is introduced to the Connor Clan of Scotland, one of many clans worldwide tasked with protecting humanity from evil. We learn that Faelan is the oldest Connor son and through a series of events, we see the young boy full of spirit and mischief grow to be the man introduced in Awaken. A man filled with responsibility, honour, determination, and yes, even a bit of grief. Everything he goes through has helped to make him a hero worthy of respect. It is suggested to read this book before starting Awaken as it will give a better understanding of all the people and events that occur.
I've read the first 2 books in this series so I had some idea of what to expect. But man it still blew me away! I loved learning what Faelan's life was like before we first met him in the first book. And there were times that even though I knew what had to happen, I found myself saying oh no, please no. Faelan is one of my favorites, so much so that I named my Highlander after him. :) I can't wait to read book 3. Thank you Anita for giving us more insight to my beloved Faelan.
This story makes the whole series come together! I am now completely jonesing for the next one! I love reading about Faelen, and his brothers for that matter... and how close they are. I cant wait to find out about Travis and see how they get him sorted. I absolutely expect Tavis to follow Faelen wherever he goes.
I missed reading this before I read the others in this series, forgot I got it years earlier as an Amazon freebie, but it was nice to revisit the characters and see how all the things in this short story were resolved with the following books. It is a good series; worth reading and the main novels came free with Kindle Unlimited:)
Really a 3.5 stars. Liked seeing the back story of Faelan's family and how he came to be where he ended up. It was nice, but not awesome. Any fan of the series will enjoy it, others, probably not. I am STILL waiting for Unleash the Highland Warrior - seems like forever!!
I loved it! I am so glad I read it before the first one and discover the early life of Faelan and his family. It helps me understand better Faelan and Bree's story. Great time travel story filled with Scottish sexy men.
