A bit about me: NYT/WSJ/USAT International bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of lots of lovely years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She's learned happily ever-afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.

An Instant Connection is the third novella in the Insta-Spark series by Melanie Moreland. This one is a short, sexy, sweet little story with lovely characters and lots of chemistry.
Amanda (Mandy) Clifford works as a PA for a large architectural company. She doesn’t like her immediate supervisor, Michelle, at all. But, she needs this job. Mandy hopes to possibly earn enough to go back to school some day.
Mitchell (Mitch) Emerson is sort of a freelance architect. He gets called in to random jobs, signing on for whatever time is required of him. He’s great at his job and is in high demand.
“I think our meeting is going to prove to be a significant moment in my life.”
Mandy and Mitch are both at the right time and the right place for a random meeting. Mitch was drawn to her right away. Getting her to trust him enough to have dinner with a complete stranger was a bit of a challenge. But he had a plan, a three-step plan really, and whatever Mitch put his mind to accomplishing, he always succeeded.
An unexpected wrinkle arises that causes Mandy to lose her trust in Mitch. But again, he has a plan, he will win back her trust and affection. And he will not fail. I loved Mitch’s way of dealing with Michelle. I laughed out loud more than once. And I loved his persistence. He knew what he wanted, and he would do whatever it took to get it!
This was so sweet. These two definitely had chemistry by the bucket full. I am so surprised because it is a really short book, but, it covers so much. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. It takes us through their meeting and following their relationship well into the future, leaving me with a full picture of their lives and the happily ever after I needed. This is one of those books that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy and just seems to make the day a little bit brighter.
“I thought you were the prettiest woman I had ever seen. Then I saw you help that lady, which meant you were also kind. I found your whistle extremely sexy. And I love your legs. They really do it for me. Roll all that together, and I liked the package.” He sucked in a deep breath and paused. “So, Amanda, I was hoping maybe you liked my package and would have dinner with me.”
This isn’t the norm for me. But then again, I don’t think you’re the norm… He shook his head, pulling me closer. “I think you’re going to be the exception.” His eyes dropped to my mouth. “God knows I want to be that for you.”
My Review:
Written in my favorite dual POV, this was a quick, light, amusing, and deliciously satisfying read full of sizzle and a perfectly swoony BBF who was a master at three-step plans. Sign me up for more of this, much, much more of this. I adored this couple.
An Instant Connection by Melanie Moreland is a quick, sweet and steamy novella. I enjoyed it a lot! Mitch and Mandy are very loveable characters. Mandy is smart, kind hearted and loving. She doesn’t like her boss, but she still works very hard. She desperately wants to go to college. Mitch is smart, passionate, protective and caring. He’s one of the best at his job and he loves what he does.
An Instant Connection is the third book in the Insta-Spark series, but it can be read as a standalone. It fits perfectly in the Insta-Spark series. Mitch and Mandy connect from the start. They have a great chemistry and they belong together. Mitch would have done everything to get one date with Mandy and Mandy is happy after their date. Mitch and Mandy are a beautiful couple.
-- My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book. --
Very enjoyable. Kind of wished we had one more chapter and got to see them show back up to work and rub it in that cow's face! Adding this author to my list.
I absolutely loved this book! Mitch is just an awesome, amazing guy! He knew from the moment he met her that she was going to change his life forever and he was all in. Mandy definitely felt the chemistry between them but was a tad bit more hesitant and cautious. They had a bit of a blip with an omission by Mitch and Mandy didn’t let him off the hook immediately. She was really hurt and struggled if she could trust him again. Mitch was beautifully patient and wonderfully sweet and owning up to his mistake and he never let her forget how he felt. I also loved how he handled Michelle, how he put her in her place and let her attitude roll right off him. Mitch definitely made use of his three step plans. Completely safe. No om drama, a little ow drama at the office. She was just mean and spiteful and like to treat people badly, nothing romantic. Both non virgins but H wasn’t a player at all and h had been celibate since before her mom died. No abuse.
I loved how this started out. The hero was gone for her the minute he laid eyes on her. She was a bit standoffish to him since he was a stranger and really made him work for it. I really enjoy that in my books but in the middle of the story, it took a bit of a turn that made this just an ok read/listen for me. Nothing bad and the story was still good, I just lost interest. It didn't help that I wasn't a fan of the narrators voices. They both sounded old to me.
Mitch saw Mandy one night at a bus station and was intrigued by her when she helped someone (not so sure what's so interesting about this really). Anyway, he walked towards her and realized that he wanted to know more about her. So he pestered Mandy until he got her to agree to dinner with him that same night. If he's not hot and attractive (it was emphasized a lot), his persistence would come across as freaking creepy. This guy couldn't take no for an answer and has no sense of personal space. They're basically strangers, and he invaded her boundaries like they've known each other for years, but whatever this is fiction, so 🤷♀️ They had ONS that night, and with Mitch's insistence, they also spent the weekend together.
Then the conflict happened when Mandy found out that Mitch was the new consultant at the company she's working for. There's a no-fraternization rule, and their budding romance could cause her job, and this rule doesn't apply to consultants as they're more like outsourced employees. Also, Mitch had the chance to come clean around this; during their dinner, he found out that they're going to work for the same company, but he didn't say anything. Also, Mandy's boss is catty and mean towards her, and she could use this information to sack her. So she ended things with them even before they started.
They worked together for weeks, but Mitch didn't give up. At least during their separation, I can applaud his tenacity to win her over again. He's one persistent man, that's for sure. The attitude of not taking no as an answer definitely paved the way. Eventually she forgave his omission of lie, and they got back together. The ending is HFN; they're engaged.
Overall, this was a fun novella. Insta-lust, then insta-love. The plot is absolutely ridiculous, but I dig it, and I enjoyed a MMC who got it so bad for his girl.

Finding unexpected love is adorable. Having an overwhelming, unpleasant hero isn't, especially one who doesn't understand "no". I also couldn't stomach this female narrator's voice, who sounded awfully similar to Minnie Mouse.
3.5 stars. I liked the story but I wish I'd read it instead of listened to it. I did not like the female narrator for this. She made the heroine sound like a little old lady and she also took a giant breath before each sentence that was really annoying. The voice she used for the Hero sounded like a cross between Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne. It was so weird. I may need to reread this when it comes out in ebook format.
My first book by Melanie Moreland. I really liked it. I will be reading more of her work. :-) I love the Read Me Romance podcast, it has helped me discover new authors such as Melanie.
This review is for both the audio podcast found on Read Me Romance and eBook novella -
Podcast: Nobody does that Instalove better than a go-to 1-click author than Melanie Moreland. Mandy and Mitch - that I have something I should tell you but this feels too good to stop. I loved these two - so I really couldn't wait for the ebook because EXPANDED STORY
Novella: HOT DAMN! Okay first off - Mitch had some explaining to do. But seriously readers, who doesn't want a Mitch in your corner in the workplace. Or in the kitchen. Or in the bedroom. Mandy and Mitch's connection sizzled and made for an entertaining afternoon of reading. Oh and the epilogue - HOWLED - just *fist-bumped* a yes!
Recommendation - Buy! It's the perfect trip or lazy day get in a romance book and swoon.
An instant connection that didn't quite ring true for me. Too much insta-love and way too fluffy not what I really want or expect from this author...please give me those slow-burn, deep and satisfying reads with characters that fascinate me and touch me deeply.
Free on RMR podcast idk it was meh for me.. i disliked the female narrator she was annoying me times she felt like minnie mouse 😂😂😂 and the guys voice was okay.. nothing hawt lol i dont mind alpha males.. but mitch idk i hate in real life when guys pull out my earbuds when I'm trying to ignore them. And when mitch does it to mandy it annoyed me since she did turn him down for a date.. it felt more bullying to me... i don't mind instalove..
5 star Review An Instant Connection by Melanie Moreland
Despite the fact that this is an extremely quick novella, Melanie Moreland managed to give me everything I wanted in a book. An Instant Connection was fun, romantic, flirty and overall a thoroughly enjoyable read.
As I have come to expect from a Melanie Moreland book, An Instant Connection was extremely well written and had me absolutely captivated from the first to the last page.
I have to say that I could totally relate to Mitch and Molly, both individually and as a couple; I think they would be fun to have as friends.
Although a quick read, all the boxes were ticked and I just had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading.
One click this little gem, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
The rating and review are based on personal reading choices and not a reflection of the story. Don’t let my personal views stop you from enjoying the story.
I don’t like insta love. There are a few times outside of Paranormal stories where I can buy into it. Sadly this story was not one of those times.
I thought when the H met h, he came off creepy and not alpha. I need my contemporary romance to be grounded in reality. And in reality, no matter how hot the guy is, if approached the way this H did, it would send red flags. Ted Bundy was considered hot in his day and he was a serial killer. This H came off as a potential controlling future abuser. But that’s me.
I also thought the h allowed him to continue to be creepy by going out with him.
The female narrator didn’t fit for me.
Overall this was a miss for my reading taste. Again, give it a go. You might enjoy.
AN INSTANT CONNECTION BY Melanie Moreland 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Release Date June 4, 2019
An Instant Connection by Melanie Moreland was originally written for the Read Me Romance podcast. It has been published and has extended content. It is part of Melanie’s Insta-spark series.
Mitch & Mandy’s story is a short read as everything between the two is quick moving. I thought it was sweet and I’m sure every single woman has dreamt of meeting their Prince Charming and being swept off their feet by someone like Mitch.
It was an enjoyable and a quick feel good read. I recommend this to insta-love fans out there. So I suggest 3 steps for all you booklovers, step 1 purchase the book or add to your tbr, step 2 read and enjoy Mitch and Mandy and Step 3 leave a review. Happy reading!
I fell in loved with these characters by the first chapter in this book. I loved Mitch's approach and Maddy's shyness. but it only took one whistle and a great pair of legs to connect the pair at the bus stop. Although Maddy was not impressed from the onset, Mitch wore her down with his three step plan. I simply loved characters and a storyline had me hooked and warmed my heart.
True love finds you when you least expect it. In the case of Mitch and Maddy, it took one whistle and a great pair of legs to connect the pair at the bus stop. Although Maddy was not impressed from the onset, Mitch wore her down with his three step plan. But when a hidden truth comes out will it be the end of their instant connection? Or will true love find itself back in the plan? With simply adorable characters and a storyline that I was locked into in the opening pages this was a great quick read. I almost would like to see these characters again in future books!!
I loved this quick sweet romance. I listened to the audio and fell in love with the characters. Mitch and Mandi are hot and just so perfect for one another; their chemistry is off the charts! I can't wait to read more books from this author!
3 stars. Quickie review: I listened to this book on audio on the Read Me Romance podcast. This story is cute. I enjoyed it. But while I enjoyed the story, I hated the audio. The voices are the worst I have ever heard on an audiobook. Especially, the heroine's voice. She sounded like Vanelope from Wreck it Ralph or an elderly woman. It was jarring and brought me out of the story. I still enjoyed the book because I liked the story, but I probably would have liked it more had I not listened to it on audio.
Melanie has once again drawn me in with her wonderful characters. Mitch and Mandy found what they weren't looking for in each other. Yes, it was fast and instant, but sometimes with the right the people it works. As for them it does.
I'm convinced that Melanie Moreland is really a magical unicorn in disguise as a romance author. And this book is just even more proof. This is a short novella, but even in minimal pages Ms. Moreland has been able to create characters you can relate to and a connection you can feel. This is an instant love book so be prepared for things to move fast!
Mandy is an administrative assistant at an architectural design firm. Her boss is a....not so nice lady, and Mandy is tired of putting up with her. She is searching for a new job and some direction in her life. One night at a bus stop, Mandy meets Mitch. There is an instant connection between them, but Mandy is resistant. Mitch quickly convinces Mandy to give him a chance. Within a couple of days, Mandy and Mitch's feelings are growing deeper. Then Mandy finds out that Mitch is the new consultant starting at the firm where she works. Mitch new this and kept it from Mandy. He did it to allow their feelings time to grow, but Mandy feels deceived. Mandy is also concerned about the no fraternization policy at their work. Mitch isn't willing to give up on them and what they could be. He's going to fight for Mandy and their relationship.
Mandy is sweet and sassy. She isn't into drama and is willing to admit to herself what she wants. Mitch is an alpha. And there is a scene where he goes all alpha on the evil boss that will make you need new panties. SO. VERY. HOT. And the epilogue? Ms. Moreland gives the best EPILOGUE! This book is a short, sweet, sexy read. It's a stand alone with an amazing HEA. You don't want to miss this!!
Mitch and Mandy meet by chance at the bus stop. He is instantly drawn to her but she has her reservations. After some major convincing (any maybe some references), he finally talks her in to having dinner with him. The chemistry between them is sizzling and instant, they are not ready for it to end. Mitch knows in the end, he wants her by his side for life. Now to convince her that this is all real and he will always put her first. When the weekend is over and some truths come out, can she still trust him?
-safe read -super cute -neither virgins but its been a while for both. -only drama is from the PA at her office. It has nothing to do with wanting the H. -wish there was more of an epilogue. Only 2 years out.
Safe but insta-boring. Too much sex that I chose to skim. At least there was no OP drama or details about the MCs’ pasts. Others might like this, but it wasn’t for me. I read another work by this author that was better. It was full length so everything was better developed. Maybe I’ll just stick with those next time. :)
