Nicole R. Taylor is an Australian Urban Fantasy author. She lives in the western suburbs of Melbourne dreaming up nail biting stories featuring bad-ass witches, duplicitous vampires, hunky shape shifters and devious monsters. Having finished Taylor’s Australian Supernatural series yesterday, I was excited when I saw this book. I love Keri Arthur’s Australian UF wolf shifter series, and this sounded like it would be great… until it wasn’t 😮💨.
I just wasn’t a fan of either the characters nor the unfolding narrative. Sloane was clueless for a chunk of the book, and Chaser was a jerk (had another term in mind, but Amazon doesn’t like the cursey words 🤷🏻♀️). Plus a whole book spent on one leg of a journey really didn’t endear this tale to me. So I think I’ll dnf this here and try her new supernatural series set in the Goldfields when it drops tomorrow.
This read was blessedly short as the emotional whiplash every chapter was enough to make my head spin. It was just interesting enough to finish the book…but not interesting enough to finish the series.
This is a serious excellent beginning in a series!
This is very well written and the cast are amazing. Yes, you will love to hate plenty of them and probably spill or spit your drink several times. So, be careful. I am so impressed with this book. Language keeps it out of family friendly status but also younger readers may get upset with some things , so 18+. Private collection NOT family friendly.
Ah, a story with all the tropes that Urban fantasy is known for. Tough girl who ran from evil werewolf father is kidnapped by Vampire to bring home. They hate each other but for some reason fall in love. She is wanted by various groups for her blood, he is the pack’s executioner. She is supposed to be tough but constantly cries and whines. He doesn’t feel anything until he meets her. A long road trip where he keeps her captive yet she still falls for him and in the end they decide to kill her father… cliffhanger. I mean really? Is the author a bad writer, no, in fact the story is not awful, however every overdone storyline is in this book. If you are a new reader to this genre you may like it.. but if you’ve read a few then take a hard pass because even if you didn’t read this review you will instantly know how the book will end. Hard Pass.
The backbones of a decent story were hidden behind a clueless FMC who falls in love with the MMC in about a week (a general gripe of mine that can happen in books of this genre).
I also just couldn't get past how weird the distances seemed to be. 10kms shouldn't take 5 hours in werewolf speed... I can do 5km at a moderate human walking speed in under an hour. A vampire with super speed making a 10km trip in 45 minutes? Not very super speedy. No wonder the baddies are catching up to them all the time.
Anyway, I managed to get to the end of the book, but I won't be following on with the reat of the series.

I’m not completely sure what to say about this one as I have a bias against petulant female characters. I enjoyed the beginning that set out the adventure and dangers. I think that the ongoing dialogue that had a lot of “What aren’t you telling me?” “I can’t tell you.” “Why won’t you tell me?” “Stop asking. I won’t tell you.”… It had me drifting a bit. The ending gives you the bridge to the next book but I’m not sure I’ll pick it up.
This book was okay, I felt it dragged a bit and we never really saw anything of significance happen or anything that really advanced the plot (until maybe right at the end). I felt most of the story was just Sloane constantly asking Chaser to tell her what’s going on and him refusing (until again right at the end). I finished the whole book but will probably not continue to the next.

This 1st book, Wolf Called is a fast paced, well developed weres versus vamps tale. I highly recommend this one for anyone that enjoys paranormal beings. Just so you know, this is a cliff hanger. To find out to where Sloane and Chaser go with their relationship you will have to get the next book.
Nothing in this exciting story is as expected! Sloan and Chaser are running for their lives and as everything unfolds you're turning pages faster!! Characters are interesting, the story is dramatic with great dialog & action!! Nicole is a new author for me and I can see my collection of her books growing rapidly!!!!
I loved the storyline and the characters… I loved the emotional roller coaster and realisations made…. I’m looking forward to the next book and anticipate even more action and drama…. A really really great read…. I couldn’t put it down…
A lot of the storyline is traveling from Perth to Melbourne while evading the baddies (vampires, werewolves). To me, it seemed that the times taken for portions were wrong plus the road seemed to move around.
De onde uma jovem que não se sabe lobisomem é ajudada por um vampiro que foge de qualquer resquício de humanidade. Interessante, e bastante intrigante, a forma como tal relacionamento se contrói. Gostei.
NR Taylor creates a storyline different from other authors. The characters are introduced a little at a time and, in doing so, draw you into the story all the more. It's hard to put down.
I had high expectations for this story. The book is the first in a series and leaves multiple questions in the end. I felt that the this story was incomplete. If I had the means of buying the complete series I might have a better feeling about the story. I liked what was BUT there were no conclusions. Surviving the latest attack didn't do it for me.
