Got "Zylan Rebellion" in the mail today and dropped what I was reading to head back to Ravyn Wilde's world of Zylar. Enjoyed this one just as much, if not more, than the first. The erotic relationship between the lead characters was smoking hot and the further exploration of the abilities and changes in Wilde's world kept me glued to the pages.

Ahnika was a naive nineteen year old when she was kidnapped by men wearing government uniforms and taken to another planet where she was imprisoned and beaten for her continued resistance to her captors degrading demands. Now she's learned that tomorrow she's to be auctioned off to a master for a lifetime of the same so she decides she either escapes tonight or dies in the attempt.

Raj is one of the best trackers on Zylar. But when he's called in to track the 'daughter' of a Zylan lord, something just seems 'off' about the whole assignment. And that's not all that's odd about this assignment. He seems to have a strange connection to the essence of the woman he's tracking.

Suffering, rescue, cruelty, redemption, survival, and smoking hot sex. "Zylan Rebellion" has all these things wrapped in non-stop action, sizzling attraction and a wonderful happy ending. Good erotica from Ravyn Wilde.

Brace yourself, this one is long.

First, if you need to put a freaking dictionary at the beginning of your book maybe you should consider not using so many invented words. It’s tacitly understood that if they’re from another planet they aren’t speaking English. So, why “translate” some words but not others? and such common words, like day, or minute. I mean, I understand not translating words when the elements are unique to the planet (like the “khui” in Ice Planet Barbarians), or curses (which are largely a cultural thing), but inventing words for spouse, day, minute, year, etc. seems a bit excessive. And, at least for me, lessens my enjoyment of the story, since I have to continuously look back to the “dictionary” or try to figure out what they mean with contextual clues. And they are not used consistently, which just confused me more.
Secondly, this is loaded with info-dumping inner monologues that completely stop the action at weird moments and made me doubt the characters’ ability to concentrate on any task.
Third, the MMC’s SA was poorly handled, considering this is a man who needs to feed from sexual energy. He just gets over it in a couple pages. Also, how can he be so oblivious to the fact that this woman he’s hunting is most certainly, his mate? All the signs are there! Gosh, I hate it when the characters are said to be intelligent but demonstrate the exact opposite.
Fourth, How does this guy’s “psychic” ability work? He can do pretty much everything, from cleaning to teleporting (it’s called “location-shift”, but whatever) to FREAKING CREATING STUFF OUT OF THIN AIR!! There’s no limits to what this guy can do, his only weakness seems to be he needs sex to recharge (and that’s before he links with his mate, then his power multiplies). But he’s one of two people who need sex, the rest recharge with the moons’ light. He’s super powerful (Hell, Aladdin’s Genie has nothing on this dude), but other people with little to no ability can block him without much effort… so, again, how does this work? They talk about “Vampens” as if there had been others, yet we’re told this guy is the first. We’re told this happens when, during pregnancy, the mother suffers from “separation sickness”, yet this didn’t happen before, though there are several women now who had suffered this sickness during pregnancy. They identified them, and it doesn’t seem to me like it’s a rare occurrence, yet it didn’t happen before? Because it gives the impression that no one can escape the scrutiny of their psychic abilities, so them not noticing other “Vampens” before seems unlikely. Make it make sense.
Fifth, they spend more than a third of the book apart. They meet, and a few hours later, they’re fucking, and THEN is when they found out they’re mates. Like there were no other signs (there were a lot of them, but they were stupid enough not to notice any of them, even when I would think they are taught to identify their mate, based on what I know of their society). So they proceed to fuck like bunnies for some time (it’s unclear to me how much, with all the weird words for the simplest things), and we get to read all of it. Every. Single. Moment. They completely forget about the bunch of women being tortured and sold, and he can’t even get his brother to fucking stop the bad guy, he actually tells him to stay away from the villain because “It’s her story”, not his! Fuck the poor girls, I have my mate, I don’t care in the slightest about them. Some of the words used for the smut were kinda cringy, and I didn’t need the animal sex scene (I skipped it). When they finally get to the “Ruling Place” (literally), they fuck some more, tell everyone about the girls, fuck some more, get to another meeting, and then (surprisingly) go to rescue the girls without fucking before that. They do it after, though. And why do they let the freaking RULER OF THE ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET go in a dangerous mission with his PREGNANT WIFE is beyond me. Seriously, he doesn’t seem to have any other family, so his child is the freaking heir. Why risk THE ENTIRE ROYAL LINE? Are the guards so inept they need the king to supervise? Why do they have them, then? Raj and Mica I understand, since they’re insanely powerful (I’m surprised they didn’t go and save everyone single handedly), but the ROYAL FAMILY?
Sixth. The head-hopping in some chapters is maddening! It’s not consistent through the book, thankfully, but that makes it worse when it happens.
Something positive is that it IS a standalone, you don’t need to read any of the other books in the series to understand most of it, even when the characters from previous books make some appearances.

Out on the water, Ahnika was enjoying time with her younger brothers, but she felt distracted for some reason. She distracted herself by thinking of the claiming parties she would soon be attending, searching for a mate on Zmar, or even on their mother planet, Zylar, if she didn’t find him here. Yet she felt as if someone was out there for her, waiting for her, seeing him in her dreams. She and her friend talked about the female role in society, and it wasn’t very exciting. Their entire goal was to put themselves in front of the males and find a mate to have children with and keep the home. There had to be more than that to life???

They landed on the island where a small group would search for healing herbs. She still felt uneasy and restless. Then someone grabbed her and she heard screams from the other women as she was knocked unconscious!

Two years later, Ahnika felt defeated and unable to tolerate any more pain. The women were beaten and tortured in the name of training. When a potential buyer was found, false links were embedded in the woman to bring her intense pain and allow the buyer to control her. And they had just found a buyer for HER! She had to escape – and it had to be tonight or never!

Ahnika’s dangerous plan works, and Raj is sent to track her, under the false impression that she is the missing daughter of Brac, a Zylar citizen. Raj feels a sort of psychic link of some kind with the young woman. But if he finds her, will she be dragged back to her prison cell and punished? Can she outrun the hunter? Can she escape and find safety? Will she be terminated?! Or will Raj discover his true mate?

When I reviewed a previous book in this series, I felt that the alien words and dictionary to describe periods of time, etc should be omitted. I deciphered them better this time, but I still think they are more distracting than helpful and serve no real purpose for the story line. The period of captivity for Ahnika was uncomfortable to read sometimes, but it clearly made the point of how bad things were. The characters are developed well and readers can respect their courage, strength and honor. I think the author did a good job with this book, and I do recommend it.

This was another fab tale of intrigue and adventure! Link mates are to be taken seriously and this story really takes you down the dark path of trying to mess with the whole concept of link mates with the aim of perverting their entire chauvinistic society. I'd recommend reading the previous books in the series to get the full depth of this wonderfully different, and highly sexual world. You'll see how things are moving forward for women and the pleasure men are finding with more balance in their relationships - until this book, where we get to see how one villain was "training" women to behave, how he felt they should, through torture and abuse. I was madly flipping pages to see how two very different souls would find their way to their HEA despite all that darkness. And yes, the steam was most definitely there ;) I love Ms. Wilde's books and this one definitely did not disappoint! The capture, escape, hunt and resolution - all swirling around this couple that fate set up to be together - sounds simple but it wasn't and I just sucked this book back in one read. I was gifted a complimentary arc copy of this book and I loved it!

We have the story of Mica's twin Raj finding his Link Mate. Raj is a hunter and is called in for help by Brac who is one of the council members to find his daughter. Raj feels something is off with this, but takes the assignment. Ahnika is on a harvesting trip for medicinal plants. While on the Island she and others are taken and put into a cell to be sold to men. Can Raj find Ahnika and safe her? Will they accept being each other as link mates or will their tragedies hold them back? Will Tar the ruler believe Ahnika on what happened to her and others and save them all? I received an arc copy for my honest review.

Quite dark and not for everyone, this romance has a lot of drama and trauma as Brac, a crazed Zylan big wig, traffics, tortures and mutilates women until one of his captive women escapes with the goal of exposing his perfidy and saving her fellow captives. Luckily for her, Brac has hired the wrong fellow to hunt for her! For me, the steamy scenes were just too long, but the author has created a very imaginative alien world.

I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author. This is my voluntary and honest review.

At the third book of Zylar's Moons, Ahnika was a native young girl who was kidnapped by men wearing government uniforms and was imprisoned for the last two years. Now the time unfortunately has come to be auctioned as slave. A day before the auction she managed to escape by an underground river. Her captors bring the right for her tracker to find her, Raj. But what happens when Ahnika and Raj first meet? Raj doesn't want to capture her anymore, he wants to keep her himself!!!

Great book

Ahnika is kidnapped by a madman, and kept in terror for a long time. Finally she decides death or escape, either works. Raj is a hunter who has been asked by the madman to find her. He told him she was his daughter, Raj did not believe him. When he finds her he realizes she is his mate. He loves her on site and she loves him. She will tell her story and they will help rescue the women who have been kidnapped to be sex slaves!

I really liked this book. Though I wasn't too thrilled at the beginning, I thought I was quite barbaric. But as the book went on I found it quite interesting. I found Brac a very vile person. I liked seeing Tar, Nyssa, Tala and Mica again. And I loved Raj. I'd say he was my favorite character out of all the characters. I'm so looking forward to her future works.

I enjoyed this book more than the previous two in the trilogy, Zylan Captive and Selven Refuge. It was more exciting than either of them and I liked both protagonists more as well. My main complaint here is that Ms. Wilde set up the story clearly with a fourth book in mind, yet there is no indication that one is planned for at this time.

As a trilogy, these books explore a very interesting world created by the author. Having a predestined mate that must be found for true happiness is not a new concept in erotic romance, but the Zylar's Moons series add a unique twist. The concept of Link Companions is intriguing, although I'm not personally thrilled with the idea of chains appearing from inside my body permanently linked to all my private parts. However, these chains do create some very interesting sexual possibilities! :-)

As I mentioned in my review of Zylan Captive, there is one marked annoyance in the author's chosen world building. She uses foreign terms for all time increments. The problem for me is that meaning does not come from context as it does when alien terms are used for people, places, and things as is typical. However, besides having to figure out if the author is referring to a day, week, or month etc., good ol' spell check caused another problem. Minon is the word used for minute and spell check caused it to be changed to minion occasionally. This happened in Selven Refuge leading to unintended humor. After a particularly satisfying sexual encounter came the following sentence. "For a minion, she lay there with a silly smile on her face." So she was laying there for a servant? Well no, it only took me a minon or so to figure out she was laying for a minute, not an obsequious follower. I do so love unintended spell check humor. :-)

I recommend these books to those that enjoy erotic sci/fi, but just don't expect these to be the best of the genre. Also, although it is frustrating to not have the obviously intended fourth book, we are not left with a frustrating cliff hanger in Zylan Rebellion.

As the Moon's Turn so do the Zylan's in our lives -
OH look another one down!!
- this is the tale of the fall of Raj
I do suggest starting with book 1 - Zylan Captive - this is a standalone story within the series - but honestly, it does make a big difference if you read the first two with understanding the tone of the story as well as the ability to relate to the characters and events as well as all the idioms.
Wilde has provided us with a fantastical journey that is full of suspense, adventure and a whole lot of lovin'.

Ahnika is kidnapped from her planet and enslaved on Zylan - patiently awaiting the perfect time she plans her escape. Finally, she has the chance and she takes it -
Can she stay one step ahead of the hunters? Or will she be returned to a life of enslavement?
Raj a vampen hunter is hired to locate and "save" Ahnika - but Raj is in for a bit of a shock and a whole lot of downtime from this quest -
This is intended for mature readers

This is now available in Kindle Unlimited as a box set ... all the yummy together in one place

Enjoyable time passer. Interesting sci fi culture, which was the best part of the book. Raj has been hired to hunt down the daughter of Brac, who is missing. She is actually a captured slave, not Brac's daughter, and she escaped. When Ahnika is found, Raj realizes she is his mate. His brother is the King of their world and Brac has been kidnapping women like her, pretending it is the King's forces doing this. Sometimes the sex just gets too repetitive and I skip the pages. It would have benefited with fewer of these scenes.
