Boston #3

All Good Plans

Rate this book
This is book #3 in the Boston Series.
Tessa Sherman had just been dumped by yet another woman who didn’t understand what it was like to have a calling. Being a cop wasn’t just a job to her; it was a part of who Tessa was as a person. And if she had it her way, she would do it for the rest of her life. Tessa only wished she could find a girlfriend that wouldn’t mind having a partner that could get called away on a case at any moment, and that understood how important being a detective was to her.
Cassie Fuller has been living on Cape Cod, working as a detective in a small town for years, while the sleepy hamlet has hardly had any crime beyond the random vandals or drunk tourists acting out in the summer months. When a string of high-profile robberies means Cassie gets shot in the line of duty, she’s forced to go on leave from the one thing she loves most in the world: her career.
When Tessa gets asked to take Cassie’s statement about what had happened during the shooting, the two women recognize something in each other that goes way beyond colleagues working on a task force together, trying to find the gang responsible for the robberies and Cassie getting shot. They each crave that one special woman who can understand this very important piece of who they are.
Will they find that in each other?

'ARC provided by The Author in exchange for a honest review'

**'To be a really good storyteller you need to sometimes first internalized the readers, know stuff about a lot of different things because it does shape the storyline and find some last-line grace because this is always the first line for readers...'

3.5stars!
As one might expect from this ongoing series by Ms.Pyland, alliances sometimes shift, both indepth plotlines & twist and a budding romance which interestingly enough is the focus of this story.
The basic narrative thread of 'ALL GOOD PLANS' might somehow seems like a familiar one --- two female cop/detective meets, both realize that they like the same things then as events unfold, a connection emerges, sparks fly then this instant romance kicks off --- with the additional plotline, twists, turns and surprises surrounding them (Cassie & Tessa) and the others (close friends).
'ALL GOOD PLANS' was an okay story to me but i'm sure it will be more of an enjoyable or wonderful read to any of Ms.Pyland's fans. After getting to the last sentence, I came away wishing that there was more lengthy paragraphs that gave due diligence to all the supporting and secondary characters who were included in the plotline -- each of them memorable because of their unique relationships, communicating dialogues & close-knit friendships.
Also readers will find both the title and the blurb to be warm and fuzzy but as to the storytelling, it's very dramatic.
A recommended 3rd book!

Perfect partners.

Pyland does it again - That's 3 books in 3 months. Oh, that speed!

This is the 3rd book of the Boston series and it's Cassie's story this time. Cassie is part of a sapphic core friend group whose members each have a romance story in this series. Cassie was introduced in Let Go (book 1) as being fresh out of a long term relationship and was game for a night or two of fun. She's past all of that now in All Good Plans (book 3). She is a detective and is shot on a case, leading to a mystery thriller storyline that is quite exciting to follow. As Cassie recovers, the friend group steps up to the plate to care for her and that friendship is what I love about this series. (Or any of Pyland's series for that matter.) I love the group dynamics alot and the support they give one another.

Cassie meets Tessa because of the shooting. Detective and cop just click. Both women want specific qualities in their partners and it's like they found the perfect partner in each other. They start out perhaps mildly rocky but are generally sweet together. And the sex is pretty steamy. I've noticed how Pyland has improved in writing her sex scenes lately. She's been practicing. For those who are unaware, Pyland has a newsletter where she releases a chapter of an erotica each time.

I like Gretchen/Amanda and Erin/Becca so I'm happy that we see them a lot here, but it's really Jamie's story that I'm looking forward to. I like Jamie the most and was abit disappointed when I realised there wasn't a chance Jamie would end up with Cassie, but I'm over that now and I really want to read her HEA.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is third in a series and the core friend group established in the others is important and a big part of this story. So I definitely recommend reading them in order. And yeah, all their covers suck as much as this one, so ignore that part.

Two cops falling in love. And it was adorable (though maybe a bit repetitive on the "I love that you get that I have to run out on planned activities because my job is important" bit). This one starts with Cassie being shot and needing to convalesce in Boston with her friends. Which serves to both tighten that friend bond beyond what it had been in the past and introduce her to a detective that is working the same case she was when she was shot. It's a multi-jurisdiction piece with FBI oversight so they're kind of in the same boat of being invested in the case but not in charge. And I loved how they bonded over that and got to know each other through their job activities.

There's a touch of insta for their attraction, but I find I don't mind. Plus, they were together though some intense times and that made their eventual bond feel as strong as it should be for me to buy into it. They have a lot to do for story/plot reasons, but Pyland never lost sight of the romantic developments and that's quite a feat—a feat made harder because she keeps the pace up and the events interesting and includes a plot twist I didn't see coming but was fully integrated. I love when that happens.

And I love that the whole thing worked to bring Cassie more fully into the friendship circle and move to Boston by the end. I don't think that's a spoiler because by the time it comes up, it's pretty obvious which way she has to go and for more reasons than that her girlfriend is with the BPD. She has been disconnected in the other stories because of the distance, so I liked seeing Pyland lean into that and rectify it at the same time.

So I'm going with all five stars, though I'll point out that my ratings for Pyland may be unreliable because she regularly hits my sweetspot, somehow. Not always, but regularly enough that I'll admit my ratings for her books may trend a bit high. Gauge accordingly.

A note about Steamy: This has way more steam than I'm used to from Pyland. There were at least a half dozen explicit sex scenes, possibly more. I frankly skimmed them after the first couple because nothing new was conveyed beyond new ways/places to do the deed. I think it was total overkill, but ymmv.

Note: For those of you who know me, I love Pyland’s books. This is my 18th or so book by her, and I didn’t want to affect the average rating by rating it before its publication. Also, I will not be reviewing ARCs from Pyland in the foreseeable future due to school obligations. It has nothing to do with this book.

This is going to be a spoilery (not super spoilery about the romance) and very short review. I initially rated All Good Plans higher, but the more I thought about some of the details, the worse I feel about the story.

First off, no, it wasn’t because this is a cop story that made me unable to enjoy the story, though that did contribute a bit. I couldn’t in good conscience accept that a cop said, “

The main reason, however, is because of who the “bad guys” are. For a story with an almost 100% white cast (I assumed), making .

One last thing is how the creepy guy .

But it was still nice to see the main characters fall in love and reconnect with the other characters in the Boston friend group.

4.5 Rating:

Pyland redeemed herself from the last book in this Boston series that was pretty weak. This was was much better. The MCs had a ton of chemistry and just seemed to fit. Once again, and as I say often about Pyland, she is consistent in telling a good and entertaining story. I know what I’m going to get with her and can depend on her books taking me away for a few hours.

The author had me hooked from the beginning paragraph and since I never give spoilers, you’ll have to read it to find out why. I have to say, this is my favorite story in Pyland’s Boston series. She has taken a little different path with this storyline and it feels fresh.

Pyland develops her characters really well here and I could feel the chemistry between the MCs. The dialogue is well presented and she keeps your curiosity throughout. I could write a lengthy review with all the reasons why you will want to read this book, but sometimes less is better, methinks. Pyland has done well! This has all the elements—drama, mystery, romance. Read it, I think you’ll enjoy it. Just sayin’!

I think this might be my favorite book of the Boston series so far. Cassie’s story is exciting because she’s a police officer and is helping to solve a case. While being interviewed by Tessa she feels a quick connection and she’s never been in a relationship with another cop. They just get each other and the demands of their job. They are also really hot together. All the friends are back too which is great.

I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Nice

This is a nice sweet love story. I love the main characters. They are both detectives. One was shot and the other went to question her. While they worked together on the case, they fell in love. Nice ending.

Another beautiful book from my TBR shelves! I understand this is book 3 in the series, however, I haven't read any of the others in the series. Knowing this, you can read this as a stand alone like I did.
It is a beautiful slow burn, HOT love story. Tessa lives in Boston, and is a detective in the BPD. She's on the case of a group of shelves, who have escalated, and have now crossed state lines. Cassie is a detective in a little town near Cape Cod, and she's also on the case of the same crime group. During a stakeout, that turned into a robbery she gets shot. Her friends in Boston bring her to one of their homes for her recovery.
Tessa is on the FBI task force, and goes to interview Cassie. The pull towards each other, and the fact that Cassie wants to sit in on the task force brings the two women together. This is a gorgeous story! 5 stars!!

#3 in the Boston series. I was on a roll so I started this one right after finishing #2. Tessa and Cassie are both cops. They meet because Tessa is interviewing Cassie after she got shot. I thought it was a bit strange that Cassie invited her right away to meet her and her friends after closing time at the cat café. That didn't feel natural and came out of the blue. But that was soon forgotten because other than that, the story really flows. The attraction and the tension is there right away, but they take it slow. That reminded me of the previous book, yet it did feel different. Maybe because it wasn't that slow at all and it got quite steamy soon enough too.

Cassie and Tessa are cops so you don't only get a lot of romance and steam, but also a little bit of mystery as well. Very nice. 4+⭐️

Definitely my favorite of the Boston series so far! I enjoy law enforcement stories though because there is always a good amount of suspense. Cassie and Tessa are both very likable characters and don’t have the best track records when it comes to relationships because of the demands of their jobs. Things unfold between these two somewhat quickly with a little bit of a bumpy start, but when you know, you know. This is one of those books that I would have liked to be longer, have more detail of what was going on in quite a few places, rather than a brief summary. It could have easily become its own series as well with all the things that were happening. So yes, my favorite in the series so dar. The rest of the cast of the Boston series all made appearances and I’m looking forward to learning more about Jamie. Keep reading Pyland fans!

Romance with a helping of police mystery

It's the finding love story with a twist —an order of romance with a side of police procedural & a dash of whodunit crime mystery. It takes me back to the very first book & the San Francisco series that started it all.

2 Cops

Tessa and Cassie are quite fantastic. It really takes another cop to fully appreciate what each person is going through, and understanding what the job requires. I love how Cassie’s friends all come together to help her after getting shot and helping her recover.

a little mystery

This book being about to cops had to have some kind of mystery to it. Cassie’s story finally got her a partner and a home with her friends and Tessa.

This was my favorite book of the series. Definitely. I liked the dynamic between Tessa and Cassie.

This whole series seemed different from Nicole’s other books, I can’t figure out for the life of me what IS different, but the whole feel. That’s what makes these series books so good, from an author like Nicole Pyland. Each series has a different tone overall.

The book contained a modern relationship, where the wait wasn’t very long, I know most people get together quickly these days and it made it feel more legit. Plus endearment names like ‘Babe’ were used more often which felt real.

There was plenty of muster with robbing, mugging, and even one of the main characters suffering from a life threatening injury. There was an attraction from the start, but it didn’t start until there was a kiss. They carefully worked the case with sex and sweet nothings thrown in, along with those damn interruptions.

I liked this book and I do recommend giving it a read.

Oh, I guess there was one bad thing. In the beginning it time jumped from paragraph to paragraph which made it a little confusing. There was no separation, or stars to indicate a change in location or time. I’m not knocking down any stars for it because it was otherwise very well written and easy to follow, with character development, relationship growth and all that jazz.

Can’t wait to read the finale book, if there is one that is. And I’m excited to see what up coming projects will be like, the author likes to challenge herself so it can only get better from here my friends.

Great addition to the series

This third volume in the Boston Series focuses on Cassie, the Cape Cod cop and best friend of Gretchen, one of the first book's main characters, and a new character, Tessa, who is a Boston cop. It's a bit more action oriented than your typical romance story and has a fairly good police procedural plot line as well. The supporting characters are as strong as you expect from a Nicole Pyland novel.

Best one yet

This is my favorite book in Boston series for sure (or at least for now since there are two more on the way). I was in my feelings from chapter one, Cassie’s family situation broke my heart. It’s one of the most intense stories from Nicole so far, and the chemistry and connection between Cassie and Tessa was off the charts. Totally loved it!

Enjoying the series

I really enjoy seeing characters pop up from the author's preview work. Wasn't expecting this to involve characters on a police force. Guess I missed the synopsis. I like how the story developed and then there were a few unexpected twists and turns. I recommend all of Nicole Pyland's books.

A more intense pilot conflict than previous books, but still the same great Nicole Pyland story with a HEA ending. Cassie deserves to find her person and get her happy ending. Tessa is a perfect addition to an already great group of women.
