Mouse: I have no memory or what or who I am, all I know is that everyone and everything is out to hurt me. Hands slap, teeth bite, and boots kick. So when I meet a big bronzed warrior with blue eyes whose hands are gentle and voice is kind, I don’t trust him. And when he starts showing up in my dreams, a part of me I long thought was dead awakens with a passion.
Cravus: When I’m hired to protect the small female on a cross-planet journey, I’m told she’s a new, unintelligent species. I can’t get close enough to her without her snapping her blunt teeth at me, but underneath the dirty hair and clean rags, I could swear she’s clever.
When a nasty attack has us on the run, I know the only way to keep ourselves alive is to get her to trust me. And only then do I learn she’s human and not only that—she’s my mate too.
Protected by the Alien Bodyguard is a Sci-Fi alien romance that features a big warrior with a heart of gold, and a heroine who’s been through a lot until she finally finds a soft place to land.
Another great read in the series. I couldn’t put it down. Our lead heroine doesn’t remember who she is or her species. It was interesting. Our lead hero is so patient calm and understanding. What a great pair. Sexy times very sexy too. We meet another human hiding out and you just know she’ll pop back up. Interesting plot twist with the Council. I’m curious to see where that goes. The books got just the right amount of adventure drama excitement and sexy aliens to keep you coming back. Can’t wait to read on.
'Entonces, incluso si no te conoces a ti misma te mostraré quién eres, porque te veo brillante y claro, kotche. Brillante y claro'.

Protected by the alien bodyguard de Ella Maven Serie Mates of the Kaluma libro 2
Argumento:
Protected by the alien bodyguard tenía mucho para mantenerme enganchada, aventura, pasión, algo de acción, angustia y peligro.
El mundo está muy bien y uno nunca sabe cuándo saldrán los enemigos. Habrá una guerra? Podrán los Kaluma encontrar aliados? Encontrará Sherif a su hermano perdido?
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙💜💚 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: 😋😀😘😍 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The Hero:Cravus - he is a Kaluma who was hired by the Rinian council to guard a transport full of rescued creatures that had been abused. They were kept in cages; many had not been cleaned in a while. Some of the creatures had been so mistreated that they were aggressive and could be dangerous. One of the creatures was trembling and hiding under a blanket at the back corner of the cage, it had mated hair to the floor. Nobody knew what kind of creature it was. Though Cravus could smell the creature and the smell was familiar to him. Cravus was to guard the creatures on the trip and make sure they weren’t taken by pirates or raiders.
The heroine:Bloom (a.k.a. Mouse) - she was a human female who was abducted from earth. She had been treated so terribly, and she no longer remembered who or what she was, she didn’t remember anything beyond being in the cage she was kept in. She did know that she wasn’t like any of the animals around her. She knew she was intelligent, more so than the other creatures kept in the cages. She knew that she hadn’t always been a mouse in a cage, that she had at one time been well cared for and happy.
The story: after the first time she saw the big bronze warrior, Mouse started having dreams about him. When she opened her eyes, the world was in Chaos, she saw lasers hitting some of the creatures in the cages, before the cages toppled to the ground. Mouse grabbed the creature she befriended called skaggs and she ran before the massive, winged creatures or hulking things on the ground that attacked them got to her. Cravus saved her from one of the raiders before being shot and falling on top of Mouse. The raiders thought they were dead and left, though Mouse had to fight off scavengers. Her will to survive was strong despite what she had been through.
This story got interesting from the start and Mouse turned out to be way different from the mousy character I expected from the blurb, and I was happy for that. The journey that the two main characters had to take was a good one and is one of my favorite tropes in alien romance. I also loved that Bloom has a pet/friend Skaggs, I always like when alien pets are included in stories. The Kaluma have a special feature to their mate bond with humans, where the human female has dreams which include their mate, which are more like premonitions. This added a compelling element to their relationship.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Jillian Macie and Todd Mclaren. Jillian has a nice, expressive voice and always does a great job, especially with alien romance. Todd Mclaren has a decent voice, but is not one of my favorite narrators, I like a stronger, deeper voice for a massive alien character.
This series needs a good edit. Book 2 has typos on almost every page. I did enjoy the characters and liked the time spent in their world. lol Had to edit my own typos.
The second entry in the Kaluma series has some action if a little less than the first. The real tease is the expansion of the ‘verse and the setup for the next book. Bloom and Cravus are sweet together and all in all I’m happy I read this.
I didn't like this one quite as much as I did the first but it was in no way bad. I enjoyed the protective relationship the couple had but I found it hard to believe how quickly mouse/bloom got her ability to speak back. If she had even the ability to talk wiped from her memory she would have to relearn and it would be like teaching a toddler, except that the adult brain does not memorize new information as well as a kid's brain.
Though Bloom was kind and sweet and I loved her conversations with her pet skags she was much more of the in need of rescue type. Not that she didn't pull her weight, she saves her guy more than once.
our MC alien this time was super protective and it was sweet. He really needs more hugs in his life.
as I said my favorite part was the protective nature of this couple. they protected one another even when they didn't know why. even when they didn't even know what species one another was. even as complete strangers. it was more of a sweet romance.
Another classic Ella Maven fun, light read. This one had almost no smut though so ye be warned! This series isn't as good as the Drixonians imo, but I'm still enjoying it enough to keep reading. Especially cuz I want to know more about Zuri!
Another fun, thrilling, page-turning read with the Kaluma’s!
***** Rating: 4 stars Steam: 2.5 flames Genre: Sci-fi / Alien Romance ***** Mouse lives in a cage, treated like an animal, unable to remember who she is, or speak to her captors. Until one day a large bronze skinned alien with white hair treats her with kindness and rescues her from certain death.
Cravus is hired to protect the tiny thing in the cage, he can’t even tell what the thing in the cage is, it is so dirty and unkempt, but for some reason he is drawn to the little creature. Little does he know that under the rags and matted hair is a human female.
It is no secret that I love Ella Maven’s alien series, like ALL OF THEM, and the Kaluma’s are no exception. The heroes focus on consent, protection, kindness, and devotion. Who wouldn’t want a big blue, bronze, or modified alien with those values as part of their moral compass?
The world building is fantastic and it is so easy to visualize everything as I read. Mouse and Cravus have to navigate a strange world, dangerous creatures, communication issues, and chemistry off the charts! Oo la la! They have some work ahead but throughout the book they both grow as individuals and as mates. Mouse has to figure out who she is…and Cravus has to come to the realization that he may have found his fated mate.
I enjoyed the heck out of this book and thought that Cravus and Mouse had a fantastic story! I can’t read Zuri and Sherif’s book, I suspect there will be a lot of push and pull between those two! This series, like the rest, is a must read for anyone who likes Alien/Sci-Fi romance! I recommend this book and anything that Ella Maven writes!
I really enjoyed this 2nd installment to this series. It was intense, sweet, and a little heartbreaking at times. It was nice to see Bosa & Karina (Book 1) again too.
I enjoyed the journey that Cravus and Bloom took me on here, I just wish there were a bit more sexy times between these two (hence the 4 stars). I guess I was expecting something just as explosive as what we got in Bosa's book, when it came to Cravus and Bloom. The little that we got was good. But I'm greedy. I wanted way more with these two 😜
Based on books 1 and 2, I would definitely recommend this series. But I STRONGLY suggest you read the Drixonian Warriors and The Stolen Warriors first, before you land here...
It was fun and light. Don't spend too many braincells on it though, as you might get hurt, lol.
Like, did the author forget that the H and h were invisible? The actions proved that they were able to see each other. Also, HOW in the HELL could a human being blank, seeing as how the H does it by FLIPPING SCALES. Which we DO NOT HAVE.
Ever wondered what it would be like to copulate with an alien that’s part man, part magical lizard? You don’t want to miss these!
This author is absolutely brilliant with her writing style. They (she?) have balanced the perfect amount of action, adventure, desire and romance. I have read every single book in this series (starting with the Drixonian Warrior Series), including every book of the each offshoot. This book in this series is one of those offshoots. We first met the Kaluma Species amidst the Drixonian series. The only similarity to the Drixonians the Kaluma have is a similar size and look, along with compatibility and attraction to human females. The Kaluma are not blue like the Drix, but bronze skin mixed with scales…
…And here is where these books lost me…
Supposedly, the Kaluma have the ability to “turn invisible” by “flipping” their lizard-like scales. Okay sure. We’re taking aliens here, so I can wrap my head around the biology incorporated with this idea. What I can’t wrap my head around? Somehow, once a human female is a bonded mate to a Kaluma, SHE now has the ability to turn invisible. HOW?! She doesn’t have magical scales that flip over, but we’re supposed to believe it just “happened?” Yeah… no. The author completely lost me there. I also cannot get on board with the “clothes” randomly turning invisible as well. This concept was not well thought out, in my humble opinion. What I found really fascinating is the ability to dream about the future. That “ability” being the result of the mate bond made a lot more sense than turning invisible.
There are a numerous amount of editorial errors throughout each book, but not enough to take away from the experience.
I will add, however, with a bit of disappointment, that while each book has different characters with different outlooks, each outcome is exactly the same. Boy saves girl, boy has issues about his past that prevents him from “claiming” girl, girl has exact same issues, girl saves boy somehow, girl magically becomes invisible as a result of being mated, boy and girl finally accept their feelings for each other and live happily ever after. That’s the bases for each and every book. Still, I will read it over and over again with a sense of fulfillment.
Kinda glad the author ditched making more books with this offshoot, because I am looking forward to more Drixonian stories. This book is still worth the read, even with its flaws.

Mouse is a human prisoner who cannot remember anything before waking up in the cage. Everyone she has met since has been trying to hurt her and so when a bronzed warrior with blue eyes, gentle hands and a kind voice shows her a little kindness she feels that she cannot trust him. Then he starts showing up in her dreams she suddenly gets aroused. Kaluma warrior Cravus is hired to protect a female on a cross planet journey who he is told is unintelligent and just snaps and screams at people. But underneath her very long dirty hair and clean rags, he believes she is clever. When they are attacked she saves Cravus and they are both on the run. To stay alive he needs to gain her trust. When he does that, it becomes clear that she is human and she is also his mate. Can they protect each other, learn to trust each other and survive whatever comes at them before they can get home?
I really enjoyed this story which had a lot of care and kindness around Mouse and Cravus which then turned into a lot of trust and love. The twists at the end of the story were good and it made it most dramatic than just a simple warrior rescues woman and they all lived happily ever after. There is obviously a lot more story to tell after some other revelations at the end. Full of tenderness and at times violence too, it was an enjoyable story that I was invested into. Contains explicit sexual content.
First and formost, Ella does an AMAZING job in this series! It's action packed, full of amazing romance, and the story keeps a pretty upbeat tempo through the whole thing. I never had a dull moment with this series!
***Spoiler Alert*** Mouse was beautifully written! The memory loss impacted so much but her character still came shining through. I love how it wasn't the size of her that made the difference but the size of her heart.
When they radioed home and then said they were going to go to the Counsel I wanted to scream and shake him. I just knew it was a horrible idea!
I love Cravus, I love that he's a big teddy bear - mean and gruff on the outside but inside is nothing but love. I especially loved the fact that he had reapect for Bloom enough to not exploit her in the flower field. Plus it was freaking hot as hell how the whole scene played out!
Then the whole danger thing in the desert when Bloom has a waking visul was intense! I was so freaked out!
I also love the way the females are taking over the society just like the Drix females did. Not because the men can't but because the men want the women to feel empowered and put back on the pedestal where they belonged all along.
This is definitely my FAVORITE series by Ella Maven!! Extremely recommend!! 🌶🌶 on the spice but the spice is EXTREMELY hot!

⚔️ “This is who you are, Bloom. You’re mine, just like I’m yours until the day I die.” ~~~ Mouse (Bloom) has been through so much - kidnapped, abused, put in a cage and suffering from memory loss. But, despite everything, she’s the kindest, sweetest and most selfless person. I adored her!
And Cravus is a true Kaluma warrior - strong, honorable, kind, very honest and fiercely protective. I loved how caring and thoughtful he is. He’s one magnificent male!
The development of their relationship was wonderful. I loved that Carvus was not pushy and that it was important for him to give Bloom choices. And she grew so much throughout the story. The bond between them got stronger with each new hardship they were facing. They were truly a great match and absolutely perfect for each other.
In addition, I loved Zuri - she’s one badass woman and can’t wait to read more about her!
Even more, we have an adorable alien pet - Skags was the best!
Overall, the story is another wonderful addition to the series filled with fast-paced action, danger, suspense, conspiracies, betrayal, steamy romance and great characters.
I loved it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Loved this story!!! Each story just drags you further into the addictive fold of continuing series after series. Love the mentions to our ever fave drixonians. Cravus was amazing, he was what you want in a fated mate. He is over protective and willing to die for you. Loved how they were drawn to each other from the very beginning and the dreams started right then. Although not as dramatic as bosa and karina of a meet-cute of him trying to capture her. Still lots of drama. He is one of very few to show her kindness and when rhwir caravan is attacked she drags him to safety to care for him. Later we learn how much that action made a difference. And wow just wow. The bad guys are ranking up there with how horrible the bad elite uldani were. Loved bloom but you could connect with her. She was a survivor despite essentially. Starting life from scratch and escaping captivity. Loved the trio of cravus, bloom and skrags on their journey. The flower flies scene. Woah. Hotness. Can’t wait for sheriffs book and the count down to kazels book!!
"This is who you are, Bloom. You're mine, just like I'm yours until the day I die."
4.5 stars
I'll just say this one more time: Ella Maven writes some of my favorite alien romance stories! Cravus and Bloom's romance was so sweet yet infinitely sexy. Cravus is hired to make sure the cargo ship that Bloom is on arrives safely, but when the ship is attacked, the two are forced to trek the wilderness in order to find their way to safety. I loved how even though Bloom was in such a vulnerable state when they met, she was still capable of saving Cravus's life. Cravus was so patient and loving towards Bloom while she became someone he could depend on as well, and I absolutely adored their all-consuming romance. I cannot wait to dive into the next book and watch as Zuri tames Sherif!🖤
Tropes: fated mates, opposites attract, sexy cinnamon roll hero, shy heroine-in-danger, forced proximity, amnesia, touch her and die, hurt/comfort, alien romance, trek through the jungle, dream-walking, found family, STEAMY🔥
She knew herself only as Mouse, and she was kept in a cage alongside her furry friend Skags. Cravus is a Kaluma warrior, powerful and with the ability to turn invisible. Hired by the Council to protect their cargo of trafficking victims, he recognises Mouse to be a human. When an attack destroys their convoy, Cravus works to keep her safe, while taking them both back to civilization.
This was an interesting, and quite different book from the first one in the series (and yes, you should read the Drixonian series first, then the Stolen Warriors series, then this series- and in order). Mouse remembers nothing, not even that she is human, or her own name. It’s Cravus who names her Bloom, and he’s driven to protect her. She’s practically a blank slate, and it’s an enjoyable read as we watch her bloom and grow into her own (pun intended). She is smart, and saves Cravus as often as he does her!
This was a good second book. The action started stray away. The lead male was on a mission that was doomed from the start from an enemy. An unrecognizable human female saved the warrior. They started their journey to safety with nothing left. The book was too short and it had just started to pick up the action at the end with Sherif, Bosa, and the other warriors. It was like the author wanted to end so abruptly. I thought for sure a leader like Sherif would have done some strategizing and taken a second warrior with him to search out Hack. There was an enemy erasing minds on that planet. What he did seemed unlikely and ruined the plausibility and flow of this book. Disappointed.
Short, easy read. Mouse becomes Bloom, she was injected with something that made her forget literally everything about herself, including her species. She speaks broken English (from unuse mostly) but somehow manages to speak pretty fluently within a day or two of being with Cravus. Cravus is drawn to her even though he had no idea she was human at first. And thinks she’s his mate, which of course, she is. Through circumstances they end up together in the wilderness with Skags, and have a pretty easy love story finding their way back to Torin, with dangers along the way. But now the larger danger is whatever those freaky aliens are planning (the concave face ones and the snake-like ones) and I guess we’ll find out more from Sherif and Zuri’s story.
High stakes adventure and a sweet romance. I love a good space romance, and this one was no exception.
Mouse is a scarred woman with no memory of her previous life. I really felt for her and admired her tenacity and capacity for empathy even after going through so much.
Cravus is a no-nonsense man er..alien, that cares for his people and doesn't have time for anything else until her. Seeing his heart melt for the fragile Mouse and the way he helps her find herself again was heartmelting. The way he and her work together to find their way home really showed how they were perfect for one another.
If you're looking for an action-packed space adventure, a warrior with a heart of gold, and a sweet but strong heroine look no further!
I so enjoy Ella's writing. It has a unique blend of the typical Sci-Fi theme with a definite twist in plotlines. for one,the heroines do more than just become damsels in distress. And I must admit, the alien hero has some anatomy that I haven't heard of. ..before very unusual There is plenty of action, suspense, romance and don't forget the steam. its really good novel to have a listen to and looking forward to the rest. As for Jillian, she is an awesome narrator and I have heard her narrate in other Sci-Fi novels. And Todd is my first in the Sci-Fi genre, I have mainly heard him in action and drama of current day but they did a wonderful job.
You know how the 2nd in a series is sometimes lackluster? Well throw that idea away. I like this one even better than the first. These books are feel good, fated mate kinda trope and I love knowing I can count on Ella to deliver. No pap just good stuff. She always tells a good tale, nice and complex with a bit of foreshadowing. I love the relationships not only between the main characters, but with a whole family of characters. Love this book and an author you can count on every time.
An addictive, sweet love story, every time I read one of this author's books I'm transported and hypnotized by the worlds she builds and the characters she creates. Cravus and Bloom are easy characters to love, they connected almost immediately and through all of their misadventures, their bond just gets stronger. Their need to survive on an inhospitable planet makes the story compelling. I am reading this series out of order but was still able to follow the story arc. I am looking forward to reading Zuri's story next!
