Decades ago, a being known as the Giant of Light joined together with Shin Hayata of the Science Special Search Party to save Earth from an invasion of terrifying monsters called Kaiju. Now, many years later, those dark days are fading into memory, and the world is at peace. But in the shadows a new threat is growing, a danger that can only be faced by a new kind of hero—a new kind of Ultraman…
The stunning revelation that Edo is the supreme chancellor of the Star Cluster Council stops the scheming Mephisto in his tracks, and he doesn’t hesitate to save his own skin. Now that the real Ultramen have shown up, Mephisto’s Ultramen imposters who are wrecking the city are about to get a hard lesson in why you don’t mess with the defenders of Earth!
This was a pretty good volume. I always enjoy the fights with multiple Ultramen because I can't tell them apart at all. So I'm just kind of sitting there, reading and watching, and going, "hmmm...." and having no idea what's happening or if the good guys are winning. It's an experience.
We learned some interesting truths this volume. And we learned about Rena's origin. Its quite sad. And the anti-alien sentiment portrayed is so reminiscent to what's happening today with the anti-immigrant sentiment that I could definitely feel for those characters. And then the final chapter was just funny. When what happened happened, I was like, "yeah, of course that's what was going to happen!" I'm looking forward to the next volume.
I feel like this volume had about 10x the amount of story and character development of any other volume so far. We get a fantastic flashback and some good character development on Rena, who it seems is finally going to be a real, 3-dimensional character.
Pre-ordered this volume and it came in a week early. Now I just have to wait an eternity for the next volume.
This installment has everything. An incredible battle, insane revelations, and growth for a neglected character. Of course once I saw what Rena's real name I was sure I knew where the story was going. But when she transformers into a Mother of Ultra costume I laughed found it incredibly amusing. 🤣 The series continues to entertain.

The main plot is finally being unveiled and boy is it interesting. I hope the series is drawing to an end point as the pieces are set up to be a really interesting finale.
This is more of an overall rating for the four volumes I binged over the weekend. This has progressed from a fun action plus nostalgia trip into a series which has increased both the size of its cast and storyline.
Truthfully I thought the series was going to be much shorter than this. I'm thoroughly enjoying the two big questions that have emerged.
What is the Star Cluster Council's plan?
What are the Ultras plans, and do they really need humans to succeed?
As an aside without an Ultraman wiki and scorecard you might have trouble tracking all of the Ultras and their human hosts.
