Rate this book
This is a Super-Plus Length Novel, almost 135,000 words long
A woman alone on a dangerous planet, where females must have male protection to survive...
A warrior intent on keeping his vow never to call a bride...
When Selena is framed for a crime she didn't commit, can Valen save her?
And will he lose his heart in the process?

The Vampire and the Violinist...
Selena Bates's ex was as boring as they come--entirely too vanilla for her adventurous tastes. Now she's getting a chance to visit a whole new planet where nobody is vanilla. On Ma'shorka Centra, all females are required to have a "Seal of Independence" prominently displayed, or a male Master who is responsible for keeping them in line. Unfortunately, Selena is single, but a girl can dream, can't she? And anyway, she's determined to have the adventure of a lifetime, playing her violin for the Emperor himself.

Valen is a Defender--the Kindred version of a lawyer. He's also a Pitch-Blood Kindred--the only kind of Blood Kindred who actually needs to drink blood. Having taken a vow never to call a bride, he is intensely irritated to find that he is sitting next to a tempting, curvy Elite on the interstellar shuttle to Ma'shorka Centra. Determined to ignore her, he gives Selena the impression that he's a world-class jerk. However, when she gets attacked at the alien spaceport and her Seal of Independence is stolen, Valen comes to her rescue. But there's one big problem--without her Seal, she needs a "Master"-- and guess who has to step up and help her out?

Valen is determined to keep his vow, no matter how tempting Selena is. But when she is framed by the vengeful Third Empress for a crime she didn't commit, only he can defend her in the crooked Ma'shorkan High Court. Will Selena have to serve her sentence of "a hundred thousand lifetimes of hard labor?" And will Valen be able to resist the tempting little Earth female?
You'll have to read...Delivered by the Defender to find out.

She is thirty-something and lives in Florida with a husband, a son, and two cats. She had been writing erotic fiction for her own gratification for a number of years before it occurred to her to try and get paid for it. Writing is hard, coming up with new ideas for a series that has gone on this long is even harder. But writing a book that doesn't fit in with the culture long established is a fail. The premise that sets this story off makes no sense. The world the female lead goes to is extremely misogynistic, the Kindred revere women. So why would a Kindred Ambassador think it would be a good idea to recommend a single woman travel to such a place to entertain a Emperor. If things had gone to plan it would be highly likely he would try to take her as a wife, exactly how would they refuse that proposal?

So the human woman who invited her to this nightmare place had to leave because her sister got in a car accident. Is she a doctor? No. Was she going to donate an organ? No. She was running to sit and wait for medical professionals to do their job. Which means there was no reason she couldn't wait for her friend to arrive, tell her the situation, and then for everyone to return to earth. In this place where a pin keeps you from being owned by a random man, they didn't even send a guard to meet her. They expected this single woman, whose freedom can be snatched away with ease, who has never left Earth to make to a alien palace unescorted. Normally this kind of scenario would be a set up from the start. She miraculously makes it to the palace, thanks to the male lead, and she repeatedly soldiers on in fear of her friend and her husband getting in trouble if she doesn't perform. Only for the Emperor to have forgotten all about it. And on top of that her "friend" never contacted her to make sure she made it to the palace safely or contacted her the days she was there. So she almost became a sex slave, never to be found again, for nothing.

The good thing about this book was explaining BDSM. The problem was the majority of the story involved Submissives unable to consent, and the lead female consenting under duress. That's assault not "play". And then the book doesn't end with the female lead running screaming from this planet, but splitting her time there. What?!?!? The story fits into the usual formula of this series, but I really want for the writer to do better. The series started with women falling in love and becoming comfortable with their sexuality. But it has devolved into women being forced into nudity and public sex games so they don't die. I enjoy this world, but I need the stories to stop being so rapey.

Can you handle the truth
I love when this author writes her longer books! I feel like she completely explores all of the little possibilities that usually end up being brushed aside in the shorter books. This was a fantastic couple! I enjoyed how they both ended up exploring options that they thought were closed to them throughout the story. The author brought her usual heat and danger from the very first page and it only got better from there! I think I say this with every new book, but this has to be one of my favorites! I loved the different aspects of the non-vanilla life and that bit of jealousy that really threw the story into a tailspin. This was a fantastic book! Perfect for a weekend read or any time that you want to travel to the stars and beyond.

I had planned to read other books, but I couldn't stop thinking about an EA freebie sitting on my Kindle, so I dove into this one.

This book was 504 pages, yet I didn't feel much happened for 504 pages. I'm not sure why it was 504 pages, but luckily, it never felt long.

Selena (I love that name) is a violinist and orchestra teacher to pay the bills. Her best friend invites her to Ma'shorka Centra to perform for the Emperor's gala. Unfortunately, her best friend's sister gets in a car accident back on Earth, so she and her husband leave that planet. Selena has the good fortune of encountering a Kindred lawyer, a Defender, who acts as her Master during the stay.

I'm not sure they actually practiced BDSM (for a non-practitioner, I'm not sure what constitutes BDSM), but Selena was interested in it. This book had spankings and other kinky things.

I would have given this book 3 stars, but the big conflict, climax, and all the pages related to it had me hooked on the story. I wondered for most of the book where the conflict was, and now I realize it was the Third Empress's hatred of Selena all along. Normally, Evangeline excels at writing plot and conflict, so I was like why is there no conflict here? It just took a while for the big thing to kick in (I can spoil it because it's already spoiled on the Goodreads blurb), Selena being accused of theft.

At first, I was confused when I saw a review saying that Selena ends the book splitting half her time between the Mother Ship and Ma'shorka Centra because, despite Valen, it didn't sound like she had such a great time there, but it makes sense as her husband, Valen, works there, she probably plays for the Emperor, and Empress the Third is out of the picture, so it's a lot safer for her.

I wish Evangeline put more of their dialogue in talking about their past on paper, to show, not tell. That's probably my only complaint about her books. I wanted to know how Valen decided to come to Ma'shorka Centra and serve as a Defender there when it's so difficult for an accused to escape with an unguilty verdict.

Delivered by then Defender: Kindred Tales 34 - Evangeline Anderson

This was a wonderful lengthy Kindred Tales to really dive into and let my mind float around in another one of Evangeline Anderson’s crazy new worlds the Kindred are connected to. The new world is a horribly misogynistic one , almost the male version of Yonnie 6. It is pretty shocking and disturbing but is portrayed as such, never condoning the rules of this society. Here the men are considered to rule women and women are considered so low they need a special band declaring them an Independent women, without the band any male can claim the female, can keep, sell or whatever horrible fate they choose.
The heroine, Selena, is a gifted violinist who has been recommended by her close friend ,to play for the Emperor on a special occasion. Unfortunately her friend has to go back to earth for an emergency and Selena is sent into a whirlwind of problems.
Valen is a Kindred Defender “lawyer” who has been assigned by the Kindred to defend the poor women get into trouble by the horrible rules of this world.
Valen pulleys Selena to her special appearance with the Emperor. He is immediately drawn to the curvy elite female but due to his status a vampire Kindred (his bite when he bonds a female is not pleasant) has sworn to never claim a bride.
Selena has always had a desire to delve into the BDSM world and is ready to embrace her sexuality with Valen .
Valen’s refusal to claim Selena is a big rejection for her but even worse is he must act as her owner and “defender” when she loses her band of independence and gets on the wrong side of the 3rd Empress.
As her “master” the pair face some major drama, scary experiences but also some kinky, sexy situations.
The overall imagination and world building is over the top, a disturbing society created to shock the reader and never displayed as “okay” by the author. The characters are well developed and it is refreshing to have the heroine embrace her sexuality and rights as a woman. The male, Valen also faces some truths about himself and his heritage. They both basically help each other come to that HEA.

Delivered by the Defender is the latest instalment from the Kindred World by the amazing author Evangeline Anderson. I do not know how she manages to keep this series alive with fresh ideas all the time, but l am incredibly grateful that she can.
The main characters of this story are Valen, a Pitch-Blood Kindred and Serena who is from Earth and is an amazing Violinist. Valen has been deeply traumatised from an experience with someone he thought he had loved. Serena is trying to get on with her life and promised her best friend to do her the favour of playing the Violin at a fancy gala. What could go wrong?
Ma’shorka Centra is what could go wrong. This planet is an extreme place to live where males are everything and a female is worth less than a dime coin. To add to that, for a woman to be safe on Ma’shorka she had to be able to secure a pin of independence to allow her to be left alone from unwanted advances. Its quite the kinky hell hole to live in.
Delivered by the Defender is not my favourite story, but as usual all the angst, betrayals, chemistry, fireworks, and drama that we have grown to expect and love from Ms Anderson is all there so well worth the read.

This book was amazing!! I really loved Selena and Valen's story. I love how they their true wants and desires through out this story. Valen was so against having a bride and found that was what he was missing most in his life. Selena was able to explore her secret sexual desires. The chemistry was off the charts. I really loved every aspect of this book. The world building was amazing I was sooo immersed in the story like I was watching a movie. I also really like the supporting characters in this story. I felt like this story was a really good tale about discovery for both characters and how they completed each other. As always I love this series and cannot wait for more!!!

Mixed feelings. The beginning was better than the rest of the book. I almost didn´t finish and actually basically skim-read parts towards the end.

The story-line had a good idea, but the third "plot twist" made no sense anymore since it basically repeated the previous twists. I would have preferred the relationship to form and get stronger with something else than the realizations that they are soulmates and the fantasy to be a submissive to her partner. All in all I felt that focus was on sex and drama instead of making the main characters have some depth and personality.

The female characters were surprisingly weakly presented and mostly in a negative light in comparison to other books from Anderson.

A riveting read I thoroughly enjoyed, captivating and action filled
This was a simply wonderful read that I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of, once you begin reading you will find like me that you will not be able to put this book down until the final page and you will simply have to read it in one sitting.
Kindred Defender Valen is with a beautiful musician who is well known for her expertise in playing of the violin, Selena is kidnapped in the spaceport whilst she screams for help Valen has to think quickly if he is going to rescue her and so he stands up as the “Master” for her and is determined Selena will not be seen as an unclaimed female on the plant having to abide by these rules.
In this situation it is fairy obvious that both Selena and Valen is his responsibility and once a Kindred vows to do something he sees it through with the assistance of the goddess. The dangerous situation the two have been forced into ensures that they get to know each other extremely well.
As the situation increases in risk it is also apparent to both individuals that their feelings are deepening, they are becoming heavily reliant on each other and this is a major and very important part of their growing relationship.
You will love this book and find yourself totally blown away by this wonderful read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Omg! Best yet. I absolutely loved Valen and Selena's story. I think this is one of Evangeline Andersons best work to date. From the Mother ship to Ma'Shorka (?) from the beach to the mountains who could ask for more. Bdsm in this storyline was great. The "Pet Parade" was something unlike anything I've heard of. But it fit. I just wish the story didn't end.....

In the promo for Evangeline Anderson’s Delivered by the Defender, she tells the reader the major points of her plot, but it isn’t until you’ve read this delicious Kindred Tale that you realize exactly what she wrote. She labels the book a tale of “a vampire and a violinist,” and so it is. You’ll be introduced to a new type of Kindred, a Pitch-Blood, and a new world, Ma’shorka Centra. Our hero is Lawyer Valen, who must have blood to survive. Our intelligent and beautiful heroine is Selena Bates, a curvy teacher who plays the violin. The biggest villain is the Third Empress, a true piece of work.
Put these three in a mixing bowl, and the journey you’ll take is wonderfully romantic, emotionally frustrating, and even cruelly fearful at times. You’ll soar high with Valen and Selena but crash hard when the Third Empress is added in. Add in the vow Valen took as a youth and, like leaving yeast out of bread, you just won’t see how this creation can survive.
Delivered by the Defender is action packed, jumping from one adventure right into another one. Some are wonderful and joyful, but others not so much. And, yes, you will read the steamy parts that Ms. Anderson is well-known for.
I loved this book. It wore out my emotions while I was reading it, but it is not one I’ll soon forget.

I'm so in loved with this series and I'll admit that I never want the series to end. As always this series doesn't disappoint and I liked that we got introduced to a new kind of Kindred. So this story took us on a great adventure and like any other Kindred tale you already know it's going to be fantastic. With the add bonus of having plenty of action, intrigue, and steamy encounter that you already know that going to keep you hooked from beginning to end. Overall a great read. I received a free copy via Booksprout and as always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Stoic Kindred Defender Valen is blindsided when he is seated next to a beautiful curvaceous female violinist Selena on their way to the same destination - Ma'shorka Centra.
Quickly, her situation turns dire when accosted at the spaceport and nearly kidnapped.
Valen hears her cries for help and steps in to stake his claim of "master" for Selena is an unclaimed female according to the law of this planet.
Valen is conflicted because of his strong attraction to this female and of his vow to the Goddess to never call a bride.
They both need each other to complete their missions - hers to play a solo for the emperor and his to defend his client at midnight court.
Dangerous situations arise that risk Selena's life.
Will Valen realize what has happened and find her before it's too late?
A high stakes adventure with a slow steamy romance filled with new discoveries.

A sci-fi romance with a somewhat dark side. What happens when a teacher/violinist and a Kindred lawyer sit next to each other? Well not what you would expect. But it will be the beginning of an insane ride for one young human woman. She is about to be re-educated on how one world sees females and it will be more than an eye opener. This story is a guaranteed happily ever after but the ride there does get a little dark and includes some bdsm.

Always a great story

Not a fan of parading the lead female around like an animal or making her wear a massive phallus inside. Degrading to read.
That's why I took a 🌟 away.

Still romantic and I loved the drama with Empress the third x

Delivered by the Defender is a slightly edgier Kindred story featuring a Pitch-Blood Kidnred named Valen and a human named Serena. It is also a long story. Although the world building is excellent, I found myself getting bogged down with some of the detailed descriptions and the lengthy dialogues.

Is there no end to this author's crazy imagination...and I still want those 'float dots'.
This Kindred is pretty much a vampire and she's a curvaceous, kinky violinist, pretty much bored with her vanilla life.
It was a fantastic, action packed adventure, sizzling chemistry, and dangerous while on yet another dangerously weird planet.
My fave series, I highly recommend it.

This is a sweet story with touches in BDSM. The planet has its kinky side that speaks to Selena like no other place she’s been. She’s always been interested and finally has someone to play with, even if it’s temporary.

“Delivered by the defender: Kindred tailes book 34” is just as amazing and well written as all the others in this sci-fi series. Evangeline Anderson is a talented and exceptional storyteller as each story in the series is original and a standalone. Valen is the Kindred defender who believes he can never call a bride. Selena has not had the best dating experiences and she is visiting a good friend who is married to a Kindred. Of course life doesn’t always go as we plan and Selena ends up alone with Valon. Yes they are strongly attracted to one another but they keep their distance. Oops, they are on a planet that doesn’t respect unmarried women. You guessed it Valon Hass to be there to protect her and the story just gets better and better and the romance is heartwarming. I love this series, I’m reading them book by book and I can’t wait to start the next one. Thank you, thank you Evangeline Anderson.

Ooh! Now this one was full of surprises and tense moments. So good! Valen and Selena got off to a rocky start with each other. Thankfully he was there to help her when she got into some trouble at the very beginning. And he kept helping her throughout her stay at the palace. They had some amazing chemistry together. Valen was learning a lot about Selena and himself in this story. He definitely was blowing hot and cold with Selena as he was in turmoil himself, which causes issues along the way and near the end. Selena was so fun. She just wanted to find someone she trusted enough to experiment and spread her kinky wings. They get lots of chances here and she flourishes. I loved how Valen didn’t make her feel dirty or bad for what she wanted. He may not have always understood what she did want, but he went out of his way to support her and make her feel heard. They were so great together and the situation near the end was so tense. Loved it! Happily ever after for the win!

This book started out okay. Descriptions of this different planet was well thought out but the overall feeling after finishing the book is kinda low-key depression...Not the romance portion! That had the usual push and pull by mostly the H and a little miscommunication where the H is a true blood kindred.
It was interesting to see that the h enjoyed the BDSM elements that make up this world and a vampire fetish lol. But towards the end I couldn't help feeling extremely sad for the random characters in the holding cell of the prison and knowing that no matter who defends you, you end up getting sent to a place that would be worse than death. This does have a HEA for the Valen and Selena it's just the whole misogynistic atmosphere was sad. I guess it's just too close to issues we still face today as women.

I mean, it is book 34. If you have read them all (like I have) you are familiar with all the possible plot points.
He took a vow so he can never be with her.
Women on this planet must have a male escort.
The fashion requires her breasts to be revealed.
He is forced to touch her sexually in front of others to keep her safe.
They have to copy whatever the perverted royal in charge does.
Elaborate descriptions of strange alien food and hijinks that ensue.
He has to save her from peril.
They get close and one pulls away, again and again and again,

I liked that BDSM was introduced early and the hero has never heard of it. The fact that the heroine and hero are into BDSM is what is different in this book. (What is NOT different is that they don’t tell the truth to each other about it for a longggg time.)

Pretty good.

This one started out great and I loved the main characters who never fell short through the whole book. There were a few things I had issues with. For instance Empress the third spoke her mind and caused shit so much even to the Emperor's face and over ruling him on lots of things and I just didn't buy it. The culture was completely misogynistic I found it hard to believe the Emperor would let any female get away with what she did for so long. The end of the book seemed to drag on and there were a few issues with the relationship and misunderstandings between the two that seemed too simplistic. But still I loved it. All in all a great addition to the Kindred world.

4.5 stars but I rounded up.

This would have been a perfect story but for a flaw in the very beginning. Selena's friend is wife to an ambassador, which means he should know all the important details about this new culture that Selena should know before she even left the Mothership. It would have changed the whole story but it's a logic detail that stuck with me throughout the entire book. Despite that I enjoyed this new world a lot. Selena was a good heroine and Valen was her perfect hero.
