Born into a world of violence, Amphitrite has honed her capacity for bloodshed. As the most lethal of the Nereids, she’s determined to return her father to the throne of Atlantis, even if it means marrying her greatest enemy.
Atlantis’ monstrous depths have always been rife with treachery, but since Poseidon seized the throne, tensions between the underwater factions have the kingdom on the brink of war. Knowing that trying to kill a god is futile, to protect her sisters and her people, Amphitrite weds the usurper king with the intent of returning her family to their rightful place.
Yet nothing is what Amphitrite expects when she becomes Poseidon’s queen, least of all her alluring new husband. Her duty is to her family, but she can’t resist the feelings of desire stirring within her. Faced with an impossible choice, Amphitrite must pick a side. Will she be the saviour or the ruin of Atlantis?
Greek mythology infused with captivating romance and spellbinding magic, this addictive fantasy is perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash. Shadows in the Deep is the first book in the Realms of Lore series.
Helena V. Paris is the author of the Greek mythology fantasy series, the Realms of Lore. She calls London and New York home, usually found haunting museum exhibits or perusing old bookshops. She studied international relations, modern languages and the classics at university, thrilled that she can now craft stories steeped in mythology and interwoven in fantasy. A lover of family, music, literature and theatre, she also sacrifices her body to kickboxing and loves exploring new wonders of the world.
"'Forget what your father wants. Forget what your sister wants. Tartarus, forget what Atlantis wants. What do you want Amphitrite?'...'You'...'Then, I'm yours.'"
I’ve been very fortunate to have access to the brilliant mind of Helena and she’s been feeding me snippets until she gives me my alpha review copy, and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed with anything she writes.
Her writing is 👌🏻. She’s one of those really annoyingly talented authors that can write any style so perfectly that you wish you had even an ounce of their talent. She’s very passionate about her work and you will be able to see this for yourselves after you’ve read the first paragraph.
Helena doesn’t just tell the same old myths that have been told millions of times, she reinvents them with her own thoughts and feelings while staying as accurate to the myth and deities as she can. It’s not an easy feat, and yet she makes it look like a toddler could do it.
If you think you love mythology and all the shenanigans it has to offer then your mind is about to be chopped up and tossed across the earth, scattering pieces of it far and wide. If you’re lucky, you might have a goddess born out of your, erm, castrated genitals… (looking at you Aphrodite…).
Once you’ve starting reading this book, you won’t want to put it down, trust me. I’m still trying to get her to include a certain HILARIOUS scene involving a child eating titan, a rock, and a bunch of claustrophobic siblings… but we’ll see. Maybe if you all pester her enough she’ll include it or pop it in as a bonus scene. Demand the rock scene people! You need that content in your life.
I love mythology, I love books, I love reading, and my gods I love Helena! Show her lots of love! ☺️
"'Get up. I made you breakfast.'...'Why? Did you poison it?'"
A Greek mythology, new adult book, with the enemies-to-lovers trope, from one of my favourite reviewers ever?!
If you don't know already, I LOVE all ofHelena's reviews and just by the way she writes them, I'm actually hyped up for her very own book! It sounds weird I guess but I myself am surprised at how crazy I am about “Helena writing a book!” Her reviews are seriously one the best ones and they're always perfect!
