Homeschooling isn't always easy. There are hiccups and bumps, and there will be plenty of times that we doubt if we are really capable of teaching our kids well. In More Than Enough, unexpected homeschooler of 12 years Kara Stephenson Anderson shares with warmth and honesty about real-life homeschooling.
Written for any parent - those brand new to homeschooling and those who have been at this for years, More Than Enough is a guide for putting connection ahead of perfection, letting go of standards and expectations, and living a life of learning and love together.
More Than Enough will help bring you the peace you've been craving so that you can enjoy your days together.
Here's the truth:
All homeschool parents struggle with doubt But you can build your confidence And you can discover that your family is enough (just as you are!) Don't let the fear hold you back.
You are enough. Your family is enough. And your love for your kids is more than enough.
As some reviewers pointed out, this was beneficial reading as a new homeschool mom. Being half way through with my second year, still only teaching basically the 3 R’s, this provided the encouragement I needed as I am going against the norm of educating my child(ren). A short audiobook but a very beneficial read.
This was a great, short read. I think it would be more helpful for a new homeschool mom. I have been homeschooling for 7 years and didn't glean much new from it, but it was a good reminder to let go of my doubts and fears and embrace my kids and our family the way that we are!
I don’t think I can say enough good things about this book. If you are a homeschooling momma this book is an absolute must read. Kara does a phenomenal job of verbalizing worrisome thoughts and fears of homeschooling parents and then giving advice and encouragement on how to deal with-and overcome them. I’m so thankful for the moms who are further down the homeschooling road and take the time to stop and offer perspective and encouragement to the ones following behind them.
This was a quick short read and may have nuggets of wisdom for the new home equating mom, but as someone who has home educated for more than 7 years this didn’t offer much. There are some nice reminders here and there.
I feel like someone gave me a huge hug right now! If you’re having doubts about you’re ability to homeschool your kids, read this! It’s full of reassurance and reminders that perfection isn’t required to successfully homeschool our kids. The doubts have been yelling extra loud lately for me. This was just what I needed as I’m getting ready to begin another year as a homeschool mama. I can definitely see myself returning to this each year (or another month when all the newness of a new year has disappeared and things haven’t gone exactly the way I envision they will!)
If you’ve ever felt like giving up… this is the book for you. I’m in my 8th year of homeschooling and there have been so many times I felt like throwing in the towel. Many reviewers said this sweet hug in the form of a book is more for “new” homeschoolers. Nope. It’s for all of us. I mean yay for you if you’re new and found this gem to lean on from the beginning. But it’s also for those of us who second guess and worry and feel like giving up. It’s probably especially for those of us who do that. I needed to read this one again before resuming our days after the holiday break. Kara’s encouragement will be the gentle nudge I need to get us through the rest of our year.
I didn’t learn anything new in this book, but I laughed a lot because I have done almost everything she mentioned. This book is perfect for brand new homeschoolers. It’s also a great reminder for those that have been doing it a while to just chill. My favorite thing about this book is that it is clear, concise, and to the point. There is no fluff. I read it in an hour.
Read and book clubbed with MArisa and Debra right before our homeschool year started. Great fast read but some solid content that was so helpful to talk out in our Marco Polo book club.she speaks a lot of our fears and anxieties out for us and makes you feel not alone. To encourage we are on right course and the most important thing is to just show up!
I just love Kara's wisdom. She's so down to earth. I listened to her book on audio and it was a quick and enjoyable read. Kara is the reader and her voice is so soothing. It is like listening to a friend who has your back on all things homeschool. Even though I'm a veteran homeschooler, I left feeling so encouraged to continue on.
I wish this book had been around before I started homeschooling and made many of the self-doubting, self-sabotaging, self-deprecating mistakes that Kara helps you avoid! Highly recommend for new homeschoolers, anyone considering homeschooling, and those of us still in the trenches. I will be adding this to the elite collection of books I read every summer to gear myself up for a new year.
I really enjoyed this book. Reading it was like hearing a friend tell me that I can stop most of my homeschool worries, because it’s all going to be okay! These pages are filled with practical wisdom as well as encouragement for moms who really want to get this homeschool thing right. It’s a short read, but impactful and so encouraging! Highly recommend!
This book spoke to me on so many levels! It was exactly what I needed at this time my life and my homeschooling journey. Sssssooooo good! I highly recommend you read this whether you already homeschool or if you are thinking about it
A lovely book, I think it would be especially encouraging to a brand new homeschooler. But even as a veteran there were some gems in there that I needed to be reminded of, as we've had a rough start to our term.
Encouraging and soothing for a wearied homeschool mom. Great reminders for coming back to what's really important in our hearts and what we know is right for our individual families. Just what I was needing!
This book was just what this weary homeschool mama needed! Kara’s calm, reassuring voice provides the boost in confidence that us homeschool “settlers” need every once in a while. Wonderful as an audiobook!
I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read but an important one. We’re on the latter side on our first year of homeschooling and we’ll we love it, it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I think I’ll keep this book on my bookshelf to go back to every now and then for sure.
Loved this short book. So many little bits of wisdom I needed and the author spoke such wisdom with humor I also appreciated. I’m so glad I got it on Audible as I plan to listen again in a year or two.
A super quick read to help put your homeschooling heart back on track. This book serves as a reminder for why we choose this path and how to move forward confidently and with love.
I needed this book so badly. I laughed, I cried, and I regained the confidence I needed to continue homeschooling. I cannot recommend this book enough.
This book is perfect for the new homeschool educator or any homeschool educator feeling doubts about their homeschool journey! You ARE more than enough!
